Benny:Goodly.
Gamemaster:Howdy doodly.
Gamemaster:Howdy doodly.
Benny:Howdy doodly doodly.
Gamemaster:I want to take a nap.
Benny:I get tired at work and then I come home and I'm not tired.
Gamemaster:I've decided.
Benny:I'm like, fuck, this would be a great time for a nap.
Gamemaster:Hmm.
Benny:Can't do it.
Gamemaster:I can't actually nap.
Gamemaster:I've tried in the past.
Gamemaster:I've been like, I'm tired.
Gamemaster:I just want to, like, you know, 30 minutes, quick refresher.
Gamemaster:It doesn't work.
Gamemaster:If I set an alarm, I sleep through it.
Benny:Oh, yeah, that's one of the hard parts.
Benny:Also, sleeping too long is, you're playing with fire because, I don't know, sometimes you sleep too long and then you wake up and you're like, what's even going on?
Gamemaster:I will, once I go to sleep, that means that the next time I'm waking up is the next day.
Benny:It's not refreshing.
Gamemaster:That's just kind of how it works.
Gamemaster:So I'm not a napper.
Benny:I've done that before.
Gamemaster:I've just, I've resigned to that fate.
Benny:but when I try to nap at like 9pm
Gamemaster:Or are you just like...
Gamemaster:and then it's tomorrow
Benny:yep
Gamemaster:you napped too long
Benny:and then I've slept 11 hours
Gamemaster:yep
Benny:yeah it's just horrific
Benny:or I wake up at like 5 in the morning
Gamemaster:yep which does also suck
Benny:and I'm like fuck
Benny:I fell asleep
Benny:because it's not
Gamemaster:but
Benny:like it's not motivating enough
Benny:to try to reset my sleep schedule
Benny:and like actually commit to
Benny:waking up at like 5 or 6
Benny:it just enough to give me like two extra hours of garbage sleep Cause my body like no we got it We normally get this amount Go ahead do something And I like no It like well I just going to be half awake then
Gamemaster:Thank you Yeah no it does suck
Gamemaster:Instead of napping, I've decided that the alternative is caffeine.
Gamemaster:Works just as well.
Benny:Which is honestly not a bad substitute. And if you time your caffeine correctly,
Benny:you can make,
Benny:you can have the crash
Benny:happen at an intentional time.
Gamemaster:I don't do any of that.
Argyle:I like the beard.
Anzu:Sounds horribly inefficient.
Gamemaster:I wait until I start getting headaches and feel tired, and then I have some caffeine.
Benny:Oh.
Gamemaster:Hello.
Gamemaster:And that's it.
Benny:Headaches.
Gamemaster:That's the whole, yeah, because of caffeine withdrawal.
Gamemaster:Because I'm bad.
Benny:Wait, wait, wait.
Benny:Are you just perpetually going through
Benny:caffeine withdrawal then?
Gamemaster:I think so, yeah.
Benny:You just wait until the middle of the day
Benny:where you're like,
Benny:alright, I...
Gamemaster:It's...
Benny:Thanks.
Argyle:you you have like a beard
Benny:What? For wait, for who?
Benny:Oh, okay.
Benny:Yeah.
Benny:I've been procrastinating shaving it, so it is
Benny:lengthy. But it got
Benny:past the weird...
Benny:When it's stubble, but it's not
Benny:full enough, and it's
Benny:a little off, I'm past that,
Benny:I think. So now I have to triple down and
Benny:ride it out.
Benny:who's just a mustache
Argyle:it was funny the one when i had a mustache for a little bit and i came into work with a mustache
Argyle:and it was funny watching coworkers be like,
Gamemaster:Do you not currently have a mustache?
Argyle:I want to acknowledge this,
Argyle:but I don't know if I'm supposed to because of HR.
Argyle:No, it's just like...
Gamemaster:That's a beard.
Argyle:Unkept.
Benny:I could shave
Argyle:It's like unkept.
Gamemaster:That's...
Gamemaster:But, like, a mustache is the bit that's on top of your lips, no?
Benny:yeah
Argyle:Yeah, like, remember when I shaved everything else
Argyle:besides just the mustache?
Argyle:I mean I think that's clear from context clues
Gamemaster:Oh, okay, sorry.
Benny:Yes.
Gamemaster:So when you meant that you only had a mustache,
Gamemaster:when you were shaving your beard, but you...
Gamemaster:Okay.
Argyle:Josh yeah yeah well Josh
Gamemaster:I didn understand I was confused I wasn trying to be sarcastic I legitimately didn know what you were talking about Hmm
Anzu:I agree with Jorge It is possible I feel like if you got a beard
Anzu:and just like a very normal
Anzu:bit of mustache, then it doesn't really
Anzu:stand out.
Argyle:Yeah.
Anzu:But you could go like handlebar
Anzu:with the beard and then it's like, okay, this guy's
Anzu:got a beard and a mustache.
Argyle:Yeah.
Argyle:Yeah.
Anzu:But it is tricky.
Benny:Hello.
Argyle:Noah!
Anzu:Hello, Noah.
Johnny:Jorge!
Johnny:Hi, Tanner.
Johnny:Hello, Josh.
Johnny:Hey, Mike.
Argyle:Oh, Noah, by the way,
Argyle:I forgot to tell Mike that you said hi,
Argyle:and then I did remember to tell Josh,
Anzu:Oh, we did tell Josh.
Argyle:and Josh told me to tell you the next time I see you
Argyle:that Josh said hi.
Johnny:Oh, okay.
Johnny:Well, tell Josh next time you see him I asked how his day is going and hope it's going well.
Johnny:and hope it's going well.
Argyle:Josh, Noah asked...
Benny:is it safe for me to look at a UV light
Gamemaster:No, no, he said next time you see me.
Argyle:I'm looking at you right now.
Anzu:Okay.
Gamemaster:He said next time, not now.
Anzu:Oh.
Argyle:I looked away and I looked back.
Argyle:I looked away and I looked back.
Gamemaster:Nope, nope, it has to be a different time that we're talking.
Johnny:Keep linked.
Johnny:Keep linked.
Johnny:We'll see you next time.
Anzu:Jeez, this is getting really messy.
Anzu:oh my god he just turned purple
Benny:oh
Gamemaster:No.
Argyle:...
Benny:because I have deep scratches in my phone
Gamemaster:Why do you just have a UV light and why was it pointed at your face?
Benny:and I got UV adhesive
Johnny:Yeah, your eyes will crystallize immediately.
Benny:ultra clear to
Benny:take care of the scratches.
Gamemaster:Okay, yeah.
Argyle:your eyes are gonna get hard
Benny:I plugged it in. I thought there'd be a button
Benny:on it, but it's just like a little
Gamemaster:Good.
Benny:thing that plugs in via USB
Gamemaster:Yeah, no, don't point the UV light at your eyeballs, maybe.
Benny:and blinds you.
Anzu:Noah, how was your event?
Benny:Because it'll crystallize? Because the UV makes
Benny:clear things hard?
Gamemaster:Yeah.
Gamemaster:That's what happens.
Benny:Alright.
Benny:Do you think...
Johnny:it went really great I sold out of so many copies Daisy had to run back to the house to get more copies Yeah it was great It was a lot of fun
Gamemaster:That fun
Argyle:Congrats Congrats
Anzu:People were all about it that awesome
Johnny:I was at a farmer's market, a little stall.
Anzu:now
Johnny:People were walking by.
Johnny:I had a lot of weird interactions, but it was fun.
Anzu:here's what I need to know
Anzu:what happened
Anzu:when you rolled pig on the prize wheel
Anzu:amazing
Johnny:I had a bunch of little plastic pigs.
Anzu:Mm-hmm.
Argyle:yeah the um i remember when i like first read the book there was like one review that came
Johnny:So I could like, give them out to people and I put.
Anzu:Mm-hmm.
Johnny:There's only 1 slot for pig and I had like, 20 pigs and I was like, oh, that'll be good enough. And then the 1st, like, 30 people to walk by all spun pig.
Johnny:Like, this is statistically improbable.
Johnny:So, then it was just been again. It was great.
Argyle:really quick on Amazon
Argyle:from this other lady that did fantasy
Argyle:reading. And then I, did you give her like
Anzu:That's funny.
Benny:well yeah i was i was surprised because i was like i still have to leave a review but i was
Gamemaster:They're fake.
Johnny:Yeah.
Argyle:a copy in advance?
Argyle:Because I was like, how did this lady
Argyle:find this and read this so quick?
Argyle:She had positive things, but...
Johnny:Yeah, there were a couple people who I gave advanced copies to.
Johnny:There's, like, services online where you can give it to people you don't know so that they give you real reviews.
Johnny:Not that your reviews aren't real, but...
Argyle:Yeah.
Gamemaster:Paid actors.
Argyle:Yeah.
Benny:Like when I leave a review, I'm in the back of the book.
Anzu:She just loves to review books.
Johnny:Yeah.
Benny:Are people going to like connect the dots when they read it and be like, wait a second.
Benny:So then I was like, wait a minute, I can connect the dots.
Benny:So then I clicked on reviews and scrolled and like cross-checked and she had the only one that wasn't in the back of the book.
Benny:And I was like, who is this lady?
Benny:So I started clicking on other books she reviewed.
Benny:It's like.
Johnny:You can also cross-check and you can see who they're friends with.
Johnny:I have a decent amount of reviews.
Argyle:Good, good, good.
Johnny:I mean, not a decent amount.
Johnny:I have a fair amount of reviews from people who I don't know, which is good.
Johnny:That's like one of the things they tell you is that if you have only five star reviews your book looks sketchy
Gamemaster:So you're saying that if we haven't reviewed it yet,
Argyle:Give it four.
Anzu:Or is ideal, it sounds like.
Johnny:and like it's probably bad and only people you know have reviewed it.
Gamemaster:we should go and give it one star
Gamemaster:so that it looks more realistic?
Johnny:No, please don't give it one star.
Argyle:I'm kidding.
Gamemaster:For...
Anzu:Excuse me.
Gamemaster:Nobody reads reviews that aren't one star or five star.
Gamemaster:That's how that works.
Johnny:One time my dad was like, Noah, have you ever heard of this book?
Johnny:And he named some book.
Johnny:I was like, no, I haven't.
Johnny:And he was like, okay, well, I'm going to go look it up on Goodreads.
Johnny:and then later I was like, oh, well, did you get the book?
Gamemaster:So...
Gamemaster:Yeah, I mean, they...
Argyle:Yeah.
Anzu:Right.
Johnny:And he goes, no, I read the one-star reviews and they were bad.
Johnny:And I was like, yeah, they're the one-star reviews.
Johnny:Yeah.
Gamemaster:The people who leave one-star reviews, uh, uh, presumably, uh, are opinionated enough about the book to say bad things about it.
Gamemaster:yeah so long as the one-star reviews aren't like i would never read crap like this i'm i'm giving
Anzu:You got to feel strongly to be like, people need to know.
Johnny:People need to know how bad.
Gamemaster:it a one-star review on principle then you know that's that's not great but if it's like i slogged
Benny:I also, I don't, I have too much, I don't, no, I have too much, not enough.
Anzu:Hmm.
Gamemaster:through this book and i want however many hours it took back then that's that's a pretty good
Gamemaster:one-star review
Benny:I don't know.
Benny:I have an interesting interaction with cognitive dissonance and the sunk cost fallacy.
Benny:I can't say bad things about things that I've done for a long time because that would mean
Benny:I'm stupid.
Johnny:I would play it like that.
Benny:I keep doing things I don't like.
Benny:Like, if I think about it,
Argyle:on a
Anzu:My mother-in-law read the book.
Benny:have I ever played a bad video game?
Benny:It's like, no, they've all been pretty sweet.
Benny:It's like,
Benny:they've all been pretty sweet.
Johnny:a book a book a book I also like the profanity
Benny:Yeah, like, I don't hate
Gamemaster:I definitely played bad video games Oh How did they like it
Benny:any specific game, and then especially
Benny:one that I've, like, maybe over 50 hours
Benny:in, I would not say are bad.
Argyle:oh you Ooh
Benny:you I like the profanity
Anzu:Yes she read Song of Monsters she borrowed she borrowed my copy which you know she should have supported the cause but what are you going to do
Anzu:Her only critique was that she did not like the profanity.
Anzu:As did I.
Benny:It's just to balance it out.
Johnny:I had one character that cursed
Benny:They didn't have cursing in the...
Anzu:She was like...
Johnny:and that's all they did
Johnny:there are certain language things
Anzu:She was like, I just feel like it doesn't fit with the time period for them to talk like that.
Anzu:And I'm like...
Benny:Wait, time? What?
Anzu:Well, it's a different world, so the time period is kind of, like, not necessarily analogous to anything, but...
Benny:Time?
Johnny:where I'll run into and be like
Johnny:oh, I can't call it a bandolier because that has an actual historical connotation.
Benny:It implies the French.
Gamemaster:I don't know, you just have to take the, like, Tolkien approach to that kind of stuff, where
Johnny:I can say the word fuck.
Johnny:You can't say champagne.
Benny:Mm-hmm.
Gamemaster:you say, oh yeah, this happens in that world, they don't speak English there, this book
Gamemaster:is a translation of it, so that you get to use, like, words that are, with, like, English
Benny:Ha!
Johnny:Mike did you read book two already
Gamemaster:connotations and stuff like that, and it's not, you know.
Benny:He opened his Samsung refrigerator.
Gamemaster:Yeah, I mean, I wouldn't...
Benny:lie
Argyle:you could
Anzu:When you said most famous writer of all time, I thought you were talking about J.K. Rowling.
Gamemaster:I wouldn't put a brand name, necessarily.
Johnny:how did you know
Argyle:you could
Argyle:you can just do it
Argyle:you know the most famous writer of all time
Argyle:you know the guy that wrote all those plays
Argyle:did
Argyle:Shakespeare and just make up words
Argyle:when you want and just make people figure
Argyle:it out don't explain it
Argyle:um
Johnny:hmm
Johnny:be like yeah people
Gamemaster:Have any of you...
Johnny:I also thought of JK.
Gamemaster:Have any of you read Anathem by Neal Stephenson I highly recommend it
Johnny:I have not read that Neil Stevenson book
Benny:I thought of William Shakespeare
Gamemaster:The reason I thought of it is specifically because he does this thing that Jorge said,
Johnny:It's like a clockwork orange.
Gamemaster:where he just makes up words and then you have to figure it out.
Gamemaster:And they do it the whole book, all the way through.
Benny:Pretty baller.
Gamemaster:It's a good time.
Benny:Do they have Latin roots?
Gamemaster:They do have Latin roots.
Benny:that's reasonable
Argyle:So this is just,
Gamemaster:And I'm...
Benny:I'm pretty sure that's what Shakespeare did
Benny:Latin or Germanic
Gamemaster:Well, yeah, no, so, sorry.
Benny:or Greek
Gamemaster:When I say he makes up words, what I mean is that he introduces a philosophical concept,
Gamemaster:but the concept is only in universe, and then the philosopher who came up with the concept
Gamemaster:doesn't exist in real life, and so you have to figure out what the concept they're referring
Gamemaster:to is through, like, context clues until you get later into the book, and they just
Gamemaster:keep introducing concepts like that. Yeah, no, I really enjoy the book. It's one of my favorite
Argyle:this is just you as a writer
Anzu:I'll put it on my want to read list.
Johnny:but
Argyle:yeah
Gamemaster:books, and it is like a puzzle in that way, almost, where they do that kind of stuff.
Gamemaster:Highly recommend it. I will say... What?
Johnny:josh have you read
Johnny:have you read snow crash by neil stevenson
Gamemaster:No, that's on my list. I, like, that was the first Neal Stephenson book that I read,
Gamemaster:from a co-worker recommending it,
Gamemaster:and I really liked it, so now I feel like I have to
Argyle:Sorry.
Gamemaster:go through the rest of his...
Benny:Nistography.
Anzu:How many books are connected to this book?
Johnny:I think it's IMDB.
Gamemaster:not discography.
Gamemaster:Yeah, not that.
Gamemaster:Whatever the actual term is.
Johnny:I think it's IMDB.
Benny:You have to rummage through his drawers.
Gamemaster:Yeah.
Gamemaster:I don't know.
Gamemaster:If you do...
Gamemaster:None.
Gamemaster:Anathem is
Gamemaster:standalone, as far as I'm aware.
Gamemaster:I will say if you start reading it
Gamemaster:and after the first chapter you don't like it
Gamemaster:it only gets worse
Argyle:you you connectically the um on a different note the ef2 assistant now has integrations thank you josh
Gamemaster:don push through it if you don like the first chapter Yeah no it like
Benny:that how I am with everything if I don like it I stop reading it
Johnny:Yes Good Are you all the way Are we all the experience Oh wow
Argyle:with foundry so we can look up your characters and party builds so when you ask for pacifics
Argyle:or if you say things like, which spell should I take?
Argyle:It will be able to figure out which character you are.
Argyle:It will be conscientious of the group.
Argyle:You might need to prompt it a little bit.
Argyle:And also, if you hop on, I added a new dropdown for Impossible Magic.
Argyle:Also, thanks, Josh.
Argyle:He gave me the book, and I turned it into something that the LLM can look at.
Argyle:So you can ask me questions about it specifically.
Argyle:It's a separate one.
Argyle:eventually when it all gets officially published on Foundry and everything,
Argyle:I'll merge all the stuff. But updates.
Johnny:I did use it today, earlier today, before I assume you added that in.
Gamemaster:That's fine.
Anzu:So it knows I'm Anzu.
Argyle:Yeah, I added it like an hour ago.
Johnny:It's very fun.
Gamemaster:I...
Gamemaster:I...
Gamemaster:It knows your Anzu, and...
Anzu:And I could say, what should Anzu...
Argyle:You can ask it.
Anzu:Can it give me advice mid combat on how I should use my turn?
Gamemaster:It knows your...
Argyle:No, you should just say, what should I take?
Gamemaster:Yeah, it knows your Anzu, and also it knows Anzu's current, like, build on Foundry.
Gamemaster:Like, down to how much HP he currently has.
Argyle:No, we don't have, we don't, we specifically did not put information about other monsters
Gamemaster:I don't expect that bit to ever be useful.
Gamemaster:It's just kind of an implementation detail.
Gamemaster:but it just has access to the foundry server
Johnny:I did ask.
Gamemaster:so it can see what you have
Gamemaster:because it doesn't have access to like path builder
Gamemaster:so it can't see what your build is at the moment
Gamemaster:but
Gamemaster:I mean
Gamemaster:yeah
Gamemaster:like the answer is
Argyle:for that reason.
Gamemaster:is that
Gamemaster:I have
Gamemaster:the way that I have it set up
Gamemaster:is the permissions that are currently hooked up
Gamemaster:for Jorge to use
Gamemaster:it's
Gamemaster:it doesn't like return data on enemies, but like generally speaking the answer is yes, the answer
Gamemaster:actual backend does have access to that info,
Johnny:Hello.
Gamemaster:and my like admin key can be like,
Gamemaster:what is the most optimal thing to do?
Gamemaster:Actually, not only can it be like,
Gamemaster:what is the most optimal thing to do?
Gamemaster:It has the ability to place and move pieces as well.
Gamemaster:So I could tell it, hey, you go do this.
Johnny:Hello.
Gamemaster:Just do this turn.
Gamemaster:I'm never gonna do that because what's the point?
Gamemaster:But that is possible.
Gamemaster:I could just have it like pilot all of the tokens
Gamemaster:and stuff for us.
Argyle:We could also, if we wanted to, all get mics and then just talk to it and be like, hey, Claude, can you do my next turn for me?
Johnny:We just announced our turn out loud.
Argyle:And then you'll just see it like pause and all of a sudden start moving and like casting spells.
Johnny:Oh, no, I'm level 7 still.
Argyle:Also.
Johnny:Bummer.
Argyle:Oh.
Gamemaster:This is actually just one step closer to wizard chess,
Gamemaster:but for, like, D&D.
Argyle:Yeah, yeah.
Argyle:another thing also it'll share screen very quickly
Johnny:How come Argyle's level eight?
Argyle:it even knows
Argyle:roles
Argyle:so you can do some meta analysis
Argyle:this is a request from Mike
Argyle:okay
Gamemaster:Oh, well, so I actually,
Johnny:I'm only level seven.
Gamemaster:I haven't leveled up anybody in Foundry yet
Gamemaster:because I ran out of time
Gamemaster:and I thought I would be able to do it today
Gamemaster:before the session,
Gamemaster:and I got home like at 7.30.
Gamemaster:So if Argyle's level 8,
Benny:Jorge is it still thinking on my question
Argyle:I think you made my character update last session,
Anzu:We give him one temporary hit point Jesus Mike what happened here
Johnny:because you were
Gamemaster:I think that might just...
Gamemaster:I don't know why Argyle's level 8,
Gamemaster:to be honest.
Argyle:because...
Gamemaster:Oh, right.
Argyle:Which I feel like I should be rewarded for.
Gamemaster:I just did yours last session
Gamemaster:because you sent it to me last session
Gamemaster:and it was easy.
Gamemaster:That works What did you ask it
Argyle:What did you ask
Johnny:Thank you What 1D124
Benny:I'm guessing you can see what I asked.
Argyle:I don't have like a good,
Argyle:I could look it up.
Argyle:I just.
Argyle:share screen
Benny:I asked...
Benny:Oh, okay, okay. It's going, it's going.
Benny:So it tells me double slice both swords into Anzu, then a third strike.
Benny:Anzu is a glass cannon right now.
Benny:53 out of 69 HP.
Benny:AC 23.
Benny:I asked it the quickest
Gamemaster:Yeah, how could I have known that previously?
Anzu:Wait. No.
Johnny:Yeah, Tanner,
Benny:I asked it the quickest way to kill
Argyle:share screen
Benny:Oh wait I have to change it in settings
Benny:Hold on
Benny:I didn't give this thing permission
Benny:I'll just take a screenshot of the
Benny:of the
Benny:Hold on, let me see.
Anzu:I can't believe you just let it out to Josh that I'm a glass cannon.
Anzu:Now he's going to target me.
Gamemaster:I thought you were the tank.
Johnny:have you tried just being glass period
Anzu:Oh boy.
Anzu:How am I going to defend?
Johnny:on a related
Gamemaster:Mmm.
Anzu:All right, now I need to open it and see how do I defend against.
Benny:Yeah, see,
Gamemaster:Ha ha.
Benny:ask how I would defend against Benny
Benny:trying to kill me as quick as possible right now.
Gamemaster:I mean, that's a good question.
Gamemaster:It'll suck when it comes back and says there's nothing you can do.
Gamemaster:Benny's unstoppable.
Anzu:You are a glass cannon.
Gamemaster:and ally flanks
Johnny:Get on to off-coat.
Anzu:to make it even more certain.
Gamemaster:you gotta get by him
Anzu:Oh my God.
Argyle:I love the
Benny:expected damage across those three strings is roughly 55 plus comfortably over Anzu 53
Gamemaster:Anzu's real weak spot
Argyle:I love the headers
Gamemaster:is fort
Argyle:Wyatt drops fast
Gamemaster:but your kill path
Gamemaster:is pure strikes
Gamemaster:so just swing
Johnny:You a palatist for roughly its entire hit bar Oh no
Gamemaster:Crazy.
Argyle:Ha ha ha!
Benny:and any single Thalcata crit
Benny:30% chance per swing
Benny:so well over
Benny:50% chance you land one
Benny:across the turn ends it outright
Benny:...
Benny:...
Johnny:If we were in a situation where Benny gets controlled,
Johnny:We're just fucked. It's over.
Benny:Good thing Benny increased his will during this level up.
Gamemaster:I can't tell if the bot was sarcastic to you when it responded, Mike, because it says,
Anzu:Jorge, where's that coming from?
Johnny:This is your live stream right now.
Gamemaster:so this is a how do I drop a fellow PC question?
Gamemaster:Fun.
Gamemaster:Let me pull on to his life defenses.
Gamemaster:Like, what is the attitude that it's giving you there?
Benny:Yeah.
Benny:it's probably sick of my sick of my this is the second question i've asked it the last one was
Gamemaster:You're welcome.
Argyle:imagine uh imagine we give it access to the transcripts of all of our sessions
Anzu:Hmm.
Johnny:Jorge is just behind there typing out the answers to all of our questions.
Johnny:Oh, no.
Benny:how to do as much damage as possible with my level eight power ups and also utility
Argyle:so then we could just speak in the mic hey claude what would i do
Argyle:so
Anzu:Well, it seems like with that chip on your shoulder, you should probably...
Benny:One side note
Gamemaster:Hey listen, the scripts are publicly available.
Argyle:Ha ha ha!
Gamemaster:You want to do it, you be the change you want to see in the world.
Benny:This is your own party's psychic
Benny:Anzu will be dying, not dead
Benny:At 0 HP unless someone finishes the job
Gamemaster:Yeah, the...
Benny:But mechanically that's your fastest route
Benny:To putting them down
Gamemaster:The side note is not, this is your party, psychic.
Anzu:Unbelievable Unbelievable Unbelievable I pissed
Gamemaster:you don want to kill them The side note is this is your party sidekick so it take a little bit extra to finish them off
Benny:this is all
Argyle:Thank you Maybe this is why
Argyle:Anthropic didn't want to work with the US government yet.
Argyle:Because their bot would have been giving the
Argyle:murder questions too much sass.
Benny:this is all the questions
Argyle:Oh, it's one of those?
Benny:you're trying to not bomb
Argyle:Fine.
Argyle:Fine.
Benny:an Iranian school
Benny:but
Benny:like
Benny:but that's all the questions they would have got
Argyle:yeah they also um the for a long time like over like until like i think a few months ago they
Benny:I can't imagine
Benny:what they use Claude for
Benny:at Anthropic to make business decisions
Benny:Claude please
Benny:that seems great like having it do programming
Benny:it seems way more sane than being like
Benny:can you please chart out the best way for us
Benny:to optimize compute spending over the next
Benny:12 months
Argyle:basically had like one person on marketing or a very small staff and the guy just got through
Benny:Why did they end up hiring a second person?
Johnny:Do what we're going to have.
Argyle:marketing by asking claude what to do and they're like could you believe it and people are like
Argyle:yeah i can claude has the worst marketing it didn't become famous until like february
Argyle:no
Benny:Because I have a Claude hat, and I think that's successful marketing.
Benny:there was
Argyle:I feel like I could have one of those made for me
Benny:I have these pop-ups
Johnny:It's a pretty cool hat.
Benny:they had they've had one in SF
Benny:and one in New York
Benny:and they give you a free hat
Benny:if you show up and you cannot obtain the hat
Benny:otherwise
Benny:I waited for 45 minutes
Johnny:It's pretty good Sunday.
Benny:at 9 in the morning on a Sunday
Benny:yeah ask Claude to make one
Johnny:Hi, Claude. Claude, make me a hat.
Benny:Claude, purchase a hat embroiderer
Johnny:Yeah.
Benny:and test hats of this color on Amazon.
Benny:When it gets here, tell me how to hook it up.
Benny:and I'll leave it alone with you.
Argyle:Yeah.
Johnny:Oh.
Benny:I want the hat when I get back.
Benny:Don't forget the little Claude logo.
Johnny:Oh.
Johnny:The Claude logo kind of looks like someone put an asterisk in the spot where they were like, put logo here.
Johnny:And then it went to marketing and someone was like, great, that's the logo now.
Johnny:Hold on.
Argyle:Yeah.
Benny:There's a running joke that all AI companies
Benny:have a butthole as their logo.
Benny:OpenAI, Gemini,
Gamemaster:It's because like, what shape is AI?
Argyle:Splat.
Benny:Okay.
Gamemaster:It's dumb.
Argyle:Amorphous.
Gamemaster:I don't know how they're gonna come up with...
Gamemaster:Yeah I guess.
Argyle:Oh, thank you.
Gamemaster:They all just kind of settled on sparkle of some kind.
Gamemaster:Weird.
Gamemaster:Are you...
Johnny:Have you guys read through Impossible Magic?
Argyle:Um...
Johnny:There's some fun stuff in there.
Gamemaster:Am I going to throw an impossible spell at you guys at some point?
Argyle:No, what is that?
Anzu:I have not.
Gamemaster:Probably.
Gamemaster:It's going to happen.
Johnny:Oh no, but they can only cast it once, ever.
Gamemaster:Yeah.
Gamemaster:Have you guys...
Benny:What's the premise?
Gamemaster:Have the rest of you seen the impossible spells section of Impossible Magic?
Gamemaster:There's a new...
Anzu:I have not.
Gamemaster:There's a new...
Benny:What makes them different?
Gamemaster:There's a new kind of spell called an impossible spell.
Gamemaster:It's a spell with the impossible trait.
Gamemaster:they're generally out of band
Gamemaster:more powerful than regular spells
Gamemaster:but they can only be cast
Gamemaster:once and they inflict a permanent
Gamemaster:debuff on you when you do it
Anzu:How do you learn them?
Benny:Oh.
Anzu:Same as other spells?
Gamemaster:you find like a book
Gamemaster:that has it written in it
Gamemaster:or you get like a scroll or a staff or something
Gamemaster:that has the spell in it
Gamemaster:like you don't
Anzu:And then you can cast it one time.
Gamemaster:yeah
Gamemaster:And you get fun things like Under Sunless Skies the level 9 spell that lets you choose a mile where there just no sun anymore But from then on you become blinded by bright light for the first turn that
Argyle:you Very interesting
Gamemaster:you're exposed to it.
Gamemaster:Is that the AI weird cone thing?
Argyle:Very interesting mate.
Argyle:.
Gamemaster:I don't know.
Benny:It's not AI.
Benny:It turns out it was a thing before AI,
Benny:before there were 10X engineers talking to their computers.
Benny:It's a stenographer's microphone.
Benny:But it looks really funny,
Gamemaster:Oh, that's less fun.
Gamemaster:I'm gonna
Benny:because it just looks like this woman is, like,
Benny:muzzling herself or, like, I don't know,
Benny:getting her brain sucked out of her mouth.
Benny:I don't know what that...
Benny:It does look...
Gamemaster:I'm gonna expose myself and ask a weird
Gamemaster:question and hope that at least one
Gamemaster:of you has had the same experience as me
Gamemaster:um you know
Gamemaster:the old
Gamemaster:uh like the old phones
Benny:I don't
Johnny:Yeah.
Gamemaster:like back when a phone had an
Gamemaster:actual thing to pick up and it had the grill
Gamemaster:on the top and the bottom
Gamemaster:as a child did you ever like put your mouth on the grill and inhale the plastic
Gamemaster:because that's what that looks like to me if nobody's done that that's fine
Johnny:Well, I have had a few experiences.
Gamemaster:but that is absolutely a thing i had done okay
Gamemaster:that's just that's what that reminds me of
Benny:I was a weird kid I don't think I did that
Benny:I probably did this
Benny:on it
Gamemaster:that's close
Benny:It does look like someone trying to inhale phone plastic
Benny:Which is also why
Gamemaster:Yeah.
Benny:It kind of looks like
Benny:She's pointing a laser gun
Benny:At her mouth
Benny:Why is she holding it like that
Gamemaster:A little bit, yeah.
Gamemaster:Do we do we want to play some Pathfinder
Benny:Hold it like this
Benny:Hold it like a microphone
Benny:Don't hold it like a gun
Benny:Yeah Yeah
Argyle:Yeah Yeah
Johnny:Yeah Yeah
Gamemaster:Um, okay.
Gamemaster:Then I guess we could do that, I suppose.
Gamemaster:Um, alright.
Gamemaster:Does anybody want to do a recap?
Gamemaster:Jorge's hand went up.
Argyle:Yeah.
Argyle:So we all just finished fighting some spiders, right?
Argyle:And we remembered where we were, and it was not in a place with boats.
Argyle:Separate.
Argyle:I don't know why any of us thought there were boats there, but there was a staircase.
Argyle:So we're like, ooh, we should try to rest because we did not prepare for this to be this long.
Argyle:So we found a little corner.
Argyle:we did a little uh little hiding and we got a long rest successfully so we're like let's go up these
Argyle:big steps we go up some big steps and we very astutely enter a lab and we got uh it's scouted
Argyle:by our familiar friend who gave uh very very clear instructions just no one believed them
Argyle:um so we walked in and we're like wow you were actually spot on i still didn't believe it
Argyle:uh then we astutely see a little weird spider that's magical in one of the tubes so we go
Argyle:and then we just went to the closest tube and just started smashing it spiders came we fought them
Argyle:by we it was mostly just benny and johnny and argyle and Anzu were just like
Argyle:taking aggro of the spider machine uh the other ones went through they started smashing shit
Argyle:The little spider flows out, almost insta-dies, retreats somewhere else.
Argyle:They resurrect one of the tubes, smashed again.
Argyle:Then we go to the central hub smash that thing spider dies And then we like wow this was crazy We should go eat that heart looks really juicy and then Johnny was just like hello there
Argyle:and did a crit so the guy goes back and goes hello turns out he's machine God
Argyle:real cool guy used to work with the rally of the first and all of the other
Argyle:first hydro fans were they all hydro pants
Gamemaster:if they were hierophants. You know that Aurelia was a hierophant.
Argyle:yeah
Argyle:whatever so we're like wow that's crazy um what's what's the deal and they're like
Johnny:and stop
Argyle:i'm really cool and we're like you really are cool we should work with you but in secret
Argyle:and then they're like i have a quest for you so our quest is we have to clear out the rest of the
Johnny:oh
Argyle:strider um for this guy which we're hoping we're going to find on zoo sister hopefully before
Argyle:benny kills her um because he has expressed interest in that then uh we're like oh this
Johnny:Who is this?
Argyle:is gonna be secret secret and then we finish the session uh and just reminder everyone we still have
Argyle:the tape recorder thing that the weird demon dragon thing wanted that we're gonna trade for
Argyle:a library book so we don't have to erase our minds and then we're gonna use that library book
Argyle:to give to some nerd who's then going to use it to triangulate more magical items.
Gamemaster:Yes.
Johnny:That's why we came down here.
Argyle:Yeah, yeah, yeah. So we still have that.
Gamemaster:Everything except for that last bit was accurate.
Gamemaster:I will accept it.
Gamemaster:That last bit was fine, except it's an ink ribbon, not a tape recorder.
Gamemaster:It's a completely different thing.
Gamemaster:But, like, generally, yeah.
Gamemaster:The ocelot asked you to come down here to get an ink ribbon,
Gamemaster:and when you were down here you found the ink ribbon amongst some other stuff, including but not limited
Gamemaster:to some pamphlets of perfection, some mongrel folk tinctures,
Gamemaster:and a key with a skeleton emblazoned on it, with a skull on it.
Gamemaster:And then after you discover that, you decide to go in further.
Gamemaster:But you have completed that bit of the quest for when you decide to leave the Undercroft.
Gamemaster:But beyond that, you did also pick up two new items in the room you're currently in.
Gamemaster:you got the coil
Argyle:Oh.
Gamemaster:and you got the usurper's crown
Gamemaster:both of which are fun
Gamemaster:other than that yeah you get a mythic point
Gamemaster:and
Gamemaster:that is a good place
Gamemaster:to pick up this session
Gamemaster:you're all still in that
Gamemaster:control room which by the way
Gamemaster:just to put out there
Gamemaster:I don't know if it would have affected anything at all
Gamemaster:but because you chose
Gamemaster:to rest before going in that did
Gamemaster:make the fight harder
Gamemaster:because they had time to prepare.
Argyle:Oh, they prepared? They knew we were there?
Anzu:How they could have known that.
Johnny:Oh, no.
Gamemaster:That was the sound of the things moving around.
Gamemaster:I don't know if that actually ever got resolved last session.
Gamemaster:But, yeah, no, they knew you were there.
Gamemaster:But, you know.
Gamemaster:Either way,
Argyle:Good to know.
Gamemaster:you don't know how they could have known that.
Anzu:No, no idea.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Argyle:The bot did, I think, good
Argyle:on the impossible spell stuff.
Argyle:I didn't read any of it.
Gamemaster:So how do you know if it did good?
Benny:Mm-hmm.
Argyle:I don't know.
Johnny:I go over an hour after this One moment I have a PDF somewhere
Argyle:It looked convincing.
Argyle:That's enough for me.
Gamemaster:I think it's...
Argyle:That's how these things are trained.
Gamemaster:I think it's wrong in some parts.
Gamemaster:The most immediate thing that looks wrong to me
Gamemaster:is the lithologic marks aren't an hour after casting.
Gamemaster:I think they're immediately after casting.
Gamemaster:I don know why it thinks they an hour afterwards No Is it an hour Academically these are rewriting reality
Argyle:You sure about that
Gamemaster:Some school.
Argyle:It also says sources, so I think these start on 175 page-wise.
Gamemaster:It is on page 175.
Argyle:I linked it at the bottom.
Argyle:I didn't attach it.
Gamemaster:I just don't see anything about an hour.
Gamemaster:No, the... it's the...
Argyle:Oh, did you try 178 to 180?
Johnny:It's not where you think it'd be.
Argyle:That's when it says
Argyle:lethology mark.
Gamemaster:Lithologic marks are mentioned on page 175 in the PDF, which is page 174 in the book.
Argyle:Well, it doesn't really matter.
Argyle:We're not going to be casting these right now.
Johnny:It's under, it's on page
Johnny:175 at the very top.
Gamemaster:Oh.
Argyle:This is why you never doubt Opus.
Anzu:And you can only ever cast one impossible spell?
Johnny:It's in the impossible for some reason.
Johnny:After casting a spell with the impossible
Johnny:an hour
Johnny:after casting a spell, the caster starts experiencing
Johnny:the consequences detailed under the spell's
Gamemaster:That's crazy.
Johnny:every time.
Gamemaster:I take it back.
Gamemaster:I bad-mouthed your bot for no reason.
Gamemaster:I've just...
Gamemaster:Right, of course.
Argyle:If Opus says something, it's right.
Gamemaster:Of course, absolutely.
Argyle:Unless you gave it wrong information.
Johnny:No.
Anzu:I didn't realize that.
Gamemaster:An hour after casting it.
Argyle:Didn't we just go through this, Tanner?
Anzu:Unless this is wrong.
Gamemaster:Yeah, Opus is always right.
Johnny:No.
Gamemaster:I was under the impression that you can cast each impossible spell once,
Gamemaster:not that you can only ever cast one impossible spell.
Gamemaster:But also, I don't want to argue...
Johnny:No, it's in the same paragraph as the...
Johnny:It's in the same paragraph as the lethologic mark.
Gamemaster:Yeah.
Johnny:The same creature can't cast any spell with the impossible trait ever again.
Gamemaster:Okay, so I clearly missed this paragraph.
Gamemaster:Opus did not That fair I take it back
Argyle:I hope it's not.
Benny:you Benny touches
Argyle:Opus is only wrong if you give it wrong information therefore it still right Yeah
Anzu:Thank you I cast it
Johnny:We cast them.
Gamemaster:Okay, anyway, you guys find all of the impossible spells in a little book as well next to the end.
Gamemaster:No, I'm joking. You definitely don't do that.
Johnny:All of them.
Argyle:It would be so funny if...
Argyle:I feel like there's going to be...
Argyle:We're going to run into some case or some civilization
Gamemaster:Um, yeah, so you guys are hanging out down here in the Undercroft in the area with this
Argyle:or organization just going to make
Argyle:one dude cat the impossible
Argyle:spell and be like, that really sucks
Argyle:for you.
Argyle:Just like
Argyle:they become this
Argyle:sin eater for them.
Argyle:Anyway.
Argyle:What do you guys want to do now?
Gamemaster:engine heart, the machine god.
Argyle:I say we go first back to the library, get the book, and then just post up in our place
Gamemaster:You got some items. You're hanging out.
Benny:Sure.
Anzu:Right.
Johnny:Let's move.
Gamemaster:What's the plan?
Anzu:Yeah.
Argyle:for a bit.
Argyle:All right.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:You guys are heading back out.
Gamemaster:You have the
Gamemaster:benefit of having killed
Gamemaster:the majority
Gamemaster:of the
Gamemaster:actually, you know what, let's walk this back a little bit.
Argyle:All right, before we go, can I ask a question?
Gamemaster:You guys head out of this room, you go down through the pilgrimage stairs,
Gamemaster:the ones with the members of Aurelia's party,
Gamemaster:and then you head back into the silk curtains room,
Gamemaster:the room where you had seen all of the spiders, yes?
Argyle:I actually got a question.
Argyle:um is there a way for you to like defend your position more now that we're gone
Gamemaster:Yeah.
Gamemaster:I cannot hide myself but as you surely noticed during your fight with the Heart Stealer
Argyle:just like hide yourself more defend it anything as you back online Okay
Johnny:you Yeah are you able to repair that
Gamemaster:uh, Heart Thief, sorry, I do have ample defenses that caught me unawares.
Gamemaster:I will endeavor to make sure it doesn't happen again.
Argyle:Okay.
Johnny:Do you need help repairing all that?
Gamemaster:You cannot hurt me in a way that matters.
Argyle:And there's really powerful people on the surface, so just make sure to constantly be
Johnny:We did a bit of damage.
Johnny:Sorry.
Johnny:Okay.
Johnny:I think we're good.
Johnny:We're good.
Johnny:Okay.
Gamemaster:I will repair myself over time.
Johnny:All right.
Argyle:making your defenses better.
Gamemaster:I appreciate the warning.
Argyle:And give us a message if anyone starts sleuthing towards your territory.
Argyle:You could close doors and make it harder to find this place now?
Johnny:Or determined.
Gamemaster:I can close doors. There aren't many doors between where I am and where everyone else is, but there's a very long tunnel filled with spiderwebs, which might deter most. Although, apparently not all.
Gamemaster:Coulomb
Argyle:Cool.
Argyle:Hey, what was the Scale guy like?
Argyle:the one that was
Argyle:in Aurelia's party.
Johnny:We're taking some improv.
Anzu:Makes a lot of sense.
Gamemaster:a bit too serious for my liking
Argyle:Yeah.
Argyle:Hey.
Argyle:Improv does wonders.
Gamemaster:he did not take any improv
Argyle:Were they all hydrophants?
Gamemaster:to my knowledge
Argyle:Hydroponics?
Gamemaster:Hierophants
Gamemaster:yes
Argyle:Hierophants, yes.
Gamemaster:you were the first six
Gamemaster:each spoke to their own god
Argyle:How does one become a...
Argyle:how does one become one of those?
Gamemaster:visit the gods in their home
Argyle:Cool.
Argyle:There.
Argyle:That's it.
Benny:Bye-bye.
Gamemaster:I suppose it's visit the gods in their home and then return in one piece.
Argyle:cool
Argyle:out of game I feel like they were gods with a little g
Gamemaster:You guys.
Argyle:the people not not not the not the six
Argyle:all right
Gamemaster:Okay, heading back. The only point of note here is that you go into the silk curtain room, and you don't see any of those black and blue splotches that had been hidden by the silk in the distance, and that's because they are all dead, collecting at the bottom of this elevator shaft that you're in.
Gamemaster:It appears that the spiders were animated by, at the very least, the thing that you killed that was inhabiting the room with the machine gun in it.
Argyle:both
Gamemaster:Fraxolith. But Fraxolith is dead now.
Gamemaster:Either way, you can head back on relatively unaccosted.
Gamemaster:It's a little bit of a hike, like all told.
Gamemaster:you guys had spent some time making your way into this area,
Gamemaster:I think you can be pretty confident that unless somebody has good reason
Argyle:And they going to have to go through the piston room why did we go this way
Gamemaster:to come looking in this area, they are not just going to stumble upon this spot.
Gamemaster:It is in an area that is marked as, like, not available for mongrel folk to go.
Gamemaster:Like, they themselves called it the Forsaken Sector.
Gamemaster:They're not going to come over here.
Gamemaster:So it's really just going to be somebody from up top.
Gamemaster:and they would need to travel a distance to get here.
Gamemaster:You didn even know it was here until you did some exploring on your own In order to get to where you are they would have to find the entrance to this Forsaken area
Gamemaster:go in through one of the entrances,
Gamemaster:because if you recall, there were a few different entrances,
Gamemaster:walk past the spiders, jump over the pistons,
Gamemaster:go through the silk curtain area,
Gamemaster:and then find the pilgrim stairs and walk up them.
Gamemaster:Like it is legitimately no idea.
Anzu:You'd have to be crazy to do that.
Johnny:No one in the room.
Argyle:we
Argyle:You know, in hindsight, we really were just like, we just got to go deeper.
Johnny:Hey.
Argyle:We got to see what's here.
Johnny:Listen, guys.
Anzu:Well, we felt relatively early on in the journey that we had entered a fame.
Johnny:No.
Johnny:Oh, sorry, Tanner.
Anzu:And so we knew there was a heart at the end.
Anzu:And that was the draw for us.
Argyle:Uh, yeah.
Anzu:and it is
Johnny:We also saw the Herald symbol and we went, this is probably bad.
Argyle:Yes, yes.
Gamemaster:but now there isn't even just a guy wearing a Herald symbol at the front
Gamemaster:so it would take somebody having explored one of the areas
Gamemaster:seen the red and brown paint colored stuff in the hallway
Gamemaster:that maybe has references to the Herald
Gamemaster:decide that they're interested in whatever drew them
Gamemaster:and then walk forward until they hit the thing
Gamemaster:like it's possible
Gamemaster:but I think that you can gather that
Anzu:While we were chatting with the machine god, could I have refocused?
Gamemaster:unless they are pointed in this direction
Gamemaster:it is unlikely that somebody stumbles upon it.
Johnny:Like, dude, that's very smart.
Gamemaster:Yes, Tanner.
Argyle:on another sad note
Anzu:Incredible.
Gamemaster:Absolutely.
Argyle:just because I'm just going to bring it up now
Argyle:and drop it
Argyle:you might
Argyle:impossible spells might not
Argyle:like I don't know if your spell level caps count
Argyle:like theoretically
Argyle:if you cast four level spells
Gamemaster:What What
Argyle:you might be able to cast
Argyle:10th level impossible spells they a separate thing You still have to find the 10th level impossible spell which I assume is really hard But anyway I don
Argyle:believe this one. That one I don't know if I believe.
Argyle:But just put it out
Argyle:there.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:Either way, you guys don't have any impossible spells right now.
Argyle:I just want to put that on the record.
Gamemaster:So it's a moot point.
Argyle:Want to put that on the record.
Gamemaster:There is no way I could have integrated impossible spells into the campaign
Gamemaster:given that they didn't exist until earlier today.
Benny:I think Benny has one of these from his backstory.
Argyle:Yeah.
Johnny:I don't know, I think we got hard light bridge back on one of these spells, so...
Gamemaster:I'm, like, I was, after looking through,
Johnny:Josh, what do you mean there isn't an instant bridge spell?
Gamemaster:I was very relieved to see there wasn't an instant bridge spell.
Gamemaster:Because, you know, that would mean that they didn't playtest it.
Benny:Yeah.
Gamemaster:Oh, sure.
Johnny:What do you mean?
Johnny:it's not as good but it's it exists
Gamemaster:Yeah, I...
Benny:I think it was 120.
Argyle:it was
Johnny:as long as none of the places we have to go across are larger than 30 feet
Gamemaster:It's not nearly as good.
Gamemaster:Yeah.
Gamemaster:Hardlight Bridge, I think, was like 120 feet or something like that.
Argyle:it was
Argyle:I love that spell so much
Benny:Yeah.
Gamemaster:It was ridiculous.
Gamemaster:It trivialized any time you had to get from A to B, and there was stuff in the middle.
Argyle:I think it was also like a wall of force
Gamemaster:Yeah.
Argyle:so it was like
Argyle:it was like impenetrable as well it was the best spell
Argyle:you could just put it over traps and like they could fireball through the trap and it was fine
Gamemaster:Yeah, no, it was really fun.
Gamemaster:It was not at all balanced.
Gamemaster:It was...
Gamemaster:It was effectively a wall of force that you could walk on,
Argyle:oh i forgot about what i used to use wall of four spheres to trap casters that was so funny
Gamemaster:was longer than a normal wall of force,
Gamemaster:and was cheaper spell-wise than wall of force to cast.
Gamemaster:Like, not worth it.
Gamemaster:Yeah either way That fine You know it You guys make your way back out of the Forsaken Sector back to the elevator that you had
Argyle:anyway all right yeah love that Yeah
Gamemaster:originally used to descend down here, and you can head back up to the surface.
Gamemaster:Get your first breath of fresh air in a few hours.
Argyle:Let's
Argyle:I think it's imperative that we head to the library, get that book.
Gamemaster:yes you hear uh uh in the back of your head i feel like i say that a bunch i don't know how
Anzu:for sure.
Johnny:Josh, as we walk out, can I just kind of look around and go,
Johnny:Machine God.
Johnny:Machine God.
Johnny:Can you hear?
Johnny:Come in, Machine God.
Johnny:Can you hear us?
Gamemaster:else to communicate specifically telepathy uh that uses like your own mental faculties for
Gamemaster:producing voice, but that's kind of what it is.
Argyle:Machine gun, are you able to open up like a group chat for us to telepathically talk to each other?
Anzu:Wait, what was the question?
Johnny:Next question.
Gamemaster:This guy himself doesn't have vocal
Gamemaster:cords, so you just hear
Gamemaster:in your own head from a source
Gamemaster:that isn't your own brain, but in
Gamemaster:your voice, like
Gamemaster:yes, from the machine gun.
Argyle:we got the Josh special
Gamemaster:Yeah.
Gamemaster:You gotta get it at some point.
Argyle:we got the Josh special
Johnny:We got it. We got it.
Argyle:it took 8 levels this time
Argyle:but we got it fuck yeah
Johnny:Johnny immediately goes like this.
Argyle:we have group telepathy now
Johnny:Guys, can you hear me?
Argyle:yes
Argyle:this was a long time guys
Johnny:We're so bad.
Argyle:this was deep into the campaign
Argyle:alright alright
Argyle:gotta happen
Gamemaster:It's gotta happen at some point.
Argyle:library
Gamemaster:Although I did one of the new spells in
Gamemaster:In impossible magic is like the coordination
Gamemaster:spell. You cast it on somebody else, and then after a set period of time, it goes three, two, one.
Argyle:I thought there was already a spell for that.
Anzu:Cool.
Johnny:To the library!
Gamemaster:That's it. That's the whole spell.
Anzu:Cool.
Gamemaster:It might be like the remastered version of that spell, if it already existed.
Gamemaster:I just saw it in the book, and I'm like, oh, that could be handy.
Argyle:Yeah.
Gamemaster:Either way, you guys have grouped telepathy now. Congrats.
Gamemaster:yeah absolutely
Argyle:Woo-hoo!
Argyle:Because if he said no, we were just going to ask him to relay the messages for us.
Argyle:Machine God, can you tell Johnny that I said?
Gamemaster:um
Gamemaster:uh
Gamemaster:same deal applies although I don't know how
Gamemaster:you guys feel about it as last campaign
Gamemaster:um whatever you're communicating
Gamemaster:with each other the machine gun can also
Gamemaster:hear it I don't know if you're trying
Gamemaster:to hide things from him necessarily but I'm just
Argyle:We didn't care last campaign.
Gamemaster:putting that out there I know
Argyle:We're not going to care now.
Gamemaster:that's fair um
Gamemaster:you guys uh can head
Argyle:We used to
Argyle:take turns talking in different chats
Gamemaster:yep you guys can head back to the library slash church thing in the harlequin's town um if you
Argyle:last campaign so one didn't have everyone.
Gamemaster:recall this is it looks from the exterior more like a place of worship worship than it does uh
Gamemaster:an archive of any kind, uh, with the most obvious religious symbology there being the eye, uh, with
Gamemaster:four hands wrapped around it. Um, once again, weirdly quiet when you go in here. Uh, the
Gamemaster:harlequins, uh, don't talk to each other. They don't talk to you. They kind of just maneuver
Gamemaster:around you, and, uh, there's always at least one harlequin looking at you as you walk through.
Gamemaster:It doesn't move to interact with you at all.
Gamemaster:It's just kind of staring as you walk by.
Gamemaster:But you can make your way into the study into the library where Oceliff and his zububs are Zububs of course you remember being those half half monstrosities that maintain the books and the like
Gamemaster:But you all navigate your way in. It is, as you left it, a huge rift of purple energy in the
Gamemaster:out of it and grabbing at the air for nothing. Uh, beetle babies flying around sorting books.
Argyle:I don't like beetle babies.
Gamemaster:Um, uh, uh, like, that's what they are. I don't know, like, I don't know where you are from me.
Gamemaster:They're beetle babies. This is the, the body of a baby except for the bits that are beetles.
Gamemaster:Um, and you meet the, uh, the, the curator of this library, uh, again, uh, Ocelith, this, uh,
Gamemaster:eight to nine foot tall, bony, draconic-looking devil creature, which looks over at all of you as you walk in and says,
Benny:We've done this before.
Anzu:Feast your eyes on this.
Johnny:More professionals.
Gamemaster:And I hope you all got on all right. I didn't expect to see all of you here so soon.
Gamemaster:I kind of expected to see you never again, but this is a pleasant surprise.
Gamemaster:Absolutely. You pull out the ink ribbon, which I don't think any of you ever, like, took a
Benny:We probably should have identified.
Argyle:We could be giving him this dude like
Anzu:and I pull out his item.
Gamemaster:particularly good look at it. It's just kind of a spool of this inch-wide fabric that looks like
Gamemaster:it has been dyed red.
Argyle:nuclear launch codes for all we know.
Argyle:We're like, well, there we go.
Argyle:You don't have any...
Benny:Did we identify No Yeah
Argyle:Yeah.
Gamemaster:You did not Absolutely Plausible deniability
Argyle:We do not We don have any ethical obligation if we don know what it is
Anzu:No Guys it just a It just a fetch quest
Johnny:We did not We didn even think about it Cool
Anzu:It's just a fetch quest.
Anzu:It's fine.
Gamemaster:Just a fetch quest.
Johnny:Easy.
Gamemaster:Absolutely.
Gamemaster:You hand over the ink ribbon.
Gamemaster:He takes it from you.
Gamemaster:He gives it a good smell, which is impressive,
Gamemaster:given that he is bones and does not have a nose.
Argyle:Excuse me, sir.
Argyle:would you be able to tell us what this is used for out of our curiosity
Gamemaster:Yes.
Gamemaster:I would. Would you prefer to know what this is used for or the book that you wanted?
Argyle:stole the book sold the first deal
Gamemaster:Absolutely.
Gamemaster:And then he will take out...
Gamemaster:It's not represented in the map, but he does have a typewriter on his desk
Gamemaster:that he will futz around with a bit,
Gamemaster:pulls out the sliding mechanism on it and fits the ribbon in place. I mean, you guys would be
Gamemaster:familiar with what a traditional ink ribbon is for. It is the thing that supplies ink in a typewriter
Gamemaster:for printing. Basically, it's this long ribbon that goes in front of the typing bit, and then
Gamemaster:that slams into the ribbon and deposits the ink on the page. It's evident that this is not a regular
Gamemaster:ink ribbon, because otherwise you would not go to the lengths of having it be stolen and then
Gamemaster:retrieving it, uh, but regardless, he says, and with that, our, uh, you have fulfilled your end
Argyle:is this fucking like ledger
Argyle:laughing
Johnny:Thanks.
Gamemaster:of the bargain, which I appreciate very much, uh, so to hold up mine, uh, he will go over to,
Gamemaster:if you recall, he left the book in the reserved section to make sure that nobody took it out,
Gamemaster:He will roll over, pick up the hefty,
Gamemaster:you requested a map, and instead he's offering this big book
Gamemaster:that seems to fit the bill of what you looking for He puts it down on the table and he says if you would do so kindly he opens up the book and in the like on the inside cover
Gamemaster:of the hard binding there's a little pocket with like an index card on it and he asks,
Gamemaster:would you please check out the book? And he offers you a ballpoint pen with which one of you to
Gamemaster:sign your name and the date so that you can establish that you've checked out the book.
Argyle:I thought you said we could keep it.
Argyle:It wasn't going to be.
Argyle:We're not going to check it out.
Gamemaster:Yes, but books trade hands all the time. Eventually you will die, or you will lose it,
Gamemaster:or it will be stolen from you, and it's convenient to know the trace that the book
Gamemaster:takes before it finds back to me.
Argyle:Can I take a look to see?
Argyle:first of all, I don't like how he's insinuating
Gamemaster:Yeah, roll a society check for me, please.
Anzu:Look up to him and say, I mean it, no offense to you, but do you mind for my own due diligence
Argyle:that's going to have to come back to him, but also can I take a look
Argyle:to see if anyone else that I recognize is signing this?
Gamemaster:Absolutely. I would never dream of it, but you're more than welcome to inspect it to your heart's
Argyle:Sorry, what were you going to say, Tanner?
Anzu:if I just kind of inspect this pen for a minute to make sure there's no extra funny business going on?
Argyle:Also check the book.
Anzu:What kind of check can I make to investigate the pen?
Gamemaster:Leisure.
Argyle:Hero point.
Argyle:Matt three, baby.
Gamemaster:Um, it would be in this instance, uh,
Anzu:Very well.
Gamemaster:probably Arcana's the best fit here.
Gamemaster:Um, and for your natural 1, 12 on your society check, uh, Argyle, um,
Gamemaster:None of the names stand out to you, even with the critical
Gamemaster:The only thing that you would have to notice here is that there are quite a few names on this,
Argyle:Sorry, you seem very confident that a book will
Johnny:Is this library sort of a trans-dimensional thing?
Gamemaster:and the dates go back a good 800 years or so.
Argyle:find its way back to you. Why is that?
Argyle:...
Argyle:...
Gamemaster:Not to me.
Argyle:...
Gamemaster:To this library.
Argyle:...
Gamemaster:They always do. That's where books belong.
Gamemaster:Roll!
Johnny:Do a perception.
Gamemaster:Let's do...
Gamemaster:I want a...
Gamemaster:It's not Sense Motive, but it's close.
Gamemaster:Perception or Society here.
Gamemaster:The dude doesn't have skin, so it's a little difficult to read facial expressions and stuff,
Gamemaster:but we'll see if maybe you get a good roll.
Johnny:No.
Gamemaster:Oh, 25 on the arcana check.
Argyle:check the book though
Anzu:I think I'm going to sign this.
Gamemaster:The pen does not strike you as magical.
Argyle:check the book
Argyle:what if the book's magical
Anzu:We're taking the book.
Argyle:yeah no no what if the sign out book's magical
Anzu:All right.
Argyle:no
Anzu:No, no, I'm signing the actual book, aren't I?
Gamemaster:You mean the index card?
Gamemaster:No, no, there is...
Anzu:Like, I'm signing the book that we're taking.
Gamemaster:There is an index card in the front cover of the book, like in a little envelope, and he asked you to sign that index card.
Argyle:no
Johnny:Not good.
Anzu:Mm-hmm.
Gamemaster:It is in the book that you're taking with you.
Anzu:Yeah.
Anzu:All right, I'll look at the card to, I think it's only a minute to identify nowadays.
Gamemaster:It is.
Anzu:Because I have the thing.
Gamemaster:This one would be...
Gamemaster:This one would be occultism or religion.
Gamemaster:And what did we get for your roll, Noah?
Anzu:Oh.
Gamemaster:17 Gosh uh you say that and he says I don know what would give you that idea Uh
Johnny:17 17
Argyle:you what did Noah ask
Anzu:you I got a 22 to look at the index card
Gamemaster:Um...
Argyle:what did Johnny ask?
Johnny:Is this library trans-dimensional?
Gamemaster:A 22.
Argyle:oh
Argyle:yeah no I think this is the library
Johnny:We literally...
Argyle:we saw those bone
Argyle:dragons in the first campaign
Argyle:yeah
Gamemaster:There is...
Gamemaster:Like, there's a very faint whiff of magic with it.
Gamemaster:It's not nearly strong enough to your mind
Gamemaster:to be binding in any way.
Gamemaster:It doesn't even, to you, feel like it's tracking.
Gamemaster:It doesn't feel like it's associated with location in some manner.
Gamemaster:Unfortunately, with the rule,
Gamemaster:you can't actually discern what the magic is or does,
Gamemaster:but you can narrow down,
Anzu:All right, I'm going to sign it.
Gamemaster:you can narrow out things that you don't think it is.
Gamemaster:Okay, absolutely.
Anzu:Now, I know that Argyle already looked at the other signatures, and I don't want to
Gamemaster:Absolutely.
Anzu:analyze the whole list, but I just want to know how recent was the previous...
Gamemaster:You don't need a rule for that.
Gamemaster:The most recent entry on it is about six months old.
Argyle:I don't love that
Anzu:Well, it's going to know if I don't.
Argyle:also did you use your real name
Argyle:I can't believe you used your real name
Gamemaster:One second No the index card goes in the book
Argyle:that's a rookie mistake
Argyle:rookie mistake
Argyle:you don't know that
Argyle:and now Grayson's gonna come here
Argyle:and he's gonna go
Argyle:what happened here
Argyle:as they going to go the bird has it The bird took the map
Benny:Thank you They going to see your name and make a clone of you
Anzu:Do we leave the index card with him
Johnny:you Oh no
Gamemaster:Okay.
Anzu:Yeah, so it's all good.
Argyle:Yeah, Grayson's going to take something.
Argyle:my bot was way nicer when I asked about killing Benny
Benny:And then my question will be valid that I asked the PF2E bot.
Benny:Wait, what did it say?
Anzu:The clone would be my friend.
Gamemaster:One second.
Gamemaster:I did
Anzu:I feel like.
Johnny:That sounds very familiar for some reason.
Gamemaster:while you're doing that
Gamemaster:I did also want to clarify because it might come up
Gamemaster:the name of the person who checked out
Gamemaster:the book six months ago was
Gamemaster:Alastair Moss
Gamemaster:just
Gamemaster:what
Argyle:i'd really wanted to emphasize that benny's not an enemy it had a lot more bolding
Gamemaster:oh
Benny:God bless you.
Gamemaster:Benny isn't in the general rules
Johnny:Yeah, wait.
Gamemaster:let me check if he's in impossible magic
Gamemaster:ah yes
Gamemaster:this is an in-game scenario
Gamemaster:dominated ally, pvp moment
Gamemaster:betrayal arc, etc
Argyle:Even the final sentence.
Gamemaster:the question is, is it
Gamemaster:Benny betraying everybody or is it
Gamemaster:Argyle betraying everybody
Benny:it did talk so much more about
Benny:hey man, I'm not sure if you should be
Benny:doing this.
Gamemaster:Well, I think it's because the bot knows it's gonna be like a more uphill climb for Argyle
Benny:I'll give you the analysis, but I don't know.
Anzu:There.
Johnny:Mike's ball was ready
Benny:I don't really know about this.
Johnny:he said listen just start swinging
Johnny:he's weak
Argyle:Even the final sentence.
Benny:Kill him.
Gamemaster:to kill Benny.
Argyle:Yeah.
Benny:Hey Atum.
Gamemaster:I don't know if this is the best idea for you to be doing this.
Gamemaster:Maybe you should be reconsidering.
Benny:And that way, the bot acts exactly like a
Benny:party member, because if someone was
Gamemaster:hmm Either way you have your hands on your book now signed and dated
Benny:weak we like well this is easier now I mean if there Hopefully
Argyle:yeah
Johnny:everyone weak next to benny you hit once well and it over the only way to defeat Benny is not get hit
Gamemaster:You're hanging out in front of Ocelith, the caretaker of this library.
Benny:All right.
Gamemaster:You gonna read it here?
Argyle:we can leave
Anzu:No.
Johnny:And
Anzu:No.
Gamemaster:Hang out with the Zabub?
Gamemaster:Telepathically.
Anzu:I'm going to take it home.
Argyle:I say telepathy
Argyle:telepic
Argyle:through telepathy
Argyle:guys should
Benny:Allopathically.
Argyle:should
Argyle:I augur to see if it's a very bad thing
Benny:All right.
Argyle:that this bone dragon now has
Argyle:this ink thing that we didn't look into
Argyle:I can augur to see if we should
Anzu:My.
Anzu:well I think he already owned it and got stolen from him
Argyle:stop it
Benny:it just
Argyle:So you just think this.
Anzu:so he has been using it
Anzu:I think that it's blood ink and it has some
Benny:rightfully is
Anzu:magical properties that lend power to the words he creates
Benny:I say
Benny:auger it
Benny:I say we go back home
Benny:we auger it
Benny:and then we add it to the
Benny:fucking list
Gamemaster:Ocelot?
Johnny:Hey, Ocelith, Ocelith, nailed it. Is there a store in town or anywhere around here we can buy gear?
Gamemaster:No.
Gamemaster:I'm afraid the Harlequins are a commune.
Gamemaster:They don't really have need for money for purchasing things.
Gamemaster:If there are basic resources you need, I'm sure we can get you some.
Gamemaster:You have a servant that you can call upon, no?
Johnny:I mean, we could go on and on.
Benny:Mm-hmm.
Gamemaster:That's good. Making friends is important.
Argyle:feel free to reach out to us if you need another
Anzu:We're working on increasing our relationship with him, actually.
Johnny:call upon him. He does not really serve.
Johnny:I've been getting kind of
Johnny:getting kind of snippy.
Benny:Mm-hmm.
Benny:
Argyle:quest or
Argyle:acquisition done
Gamemaster:You have been very useful, Muscle. I will say, pleasantly surprised.
Gamemaster:Should I have need of your services again?
Benny:Mm hmm.
Argyle:Do you know that because he signed his name?
Gamemaster:I do know which berth to find you in.
Gamemaster:No, because we are sharing the Strider together.
Benny:Mm hmm.
Argyle:Or...
Argyle:Oh, okay.
Gamemaster:I know where all of the different organizations are.
Argyle:Just a little second.
Argyle:So you have no more quests
Argyle:to do right now, right?
Gamemaster:No.
Gamemaster:No quests as such.
Argyle:Okay.
Argyle:Okay.
Benny:Mm hmm.
Gamemaster:Once I come up with another MacGuffin for you to find, I will let you know.
Benny:I thought they served those at that diner.
Argyle:Sounds good.
Anzu:All right.
Johnny:We're always on the hunt for a MacGuffin.
Gamemaster:It's not a diner.
Anzu:They have good couscous.
Gamemaster:It's Sicilian.
Benny:In my head, it's completely a diner.
Anzu:All right.
Gamemaster:They have good couscous.
Gamemaster:Also, it might have been Sardinian, not Sicilian.
Benny:I think it was Serdanean.
Gamemaster:I'm sorry if I messed that up.
Gamemaster:It's fine, because neither of those places are in the setting.
Anzu:It only sounds like that because it's a translation from another language.
Gamemaster:So, um, either way.
Gamemaster:Yes, absolutely.
Gamemaster:Uh, like, I guess that would make it, it'd be Fenrith-y.
Gamemaster:Like, somewhere on the border between Fenrith and Tormiray.
Gamemaster:Um.
Anzu:Alright, let's go home.
Gamemaster:But, yeah, you guys can head home.
Gamemaster:You know the way.
Gamemaster:It not that large a strider you can it a nice little walk or you can always summon your your servant to get a floating disc for you for transit if you want that instead
Argyle:you Yeah let do that
Gamemaster:But assuming you want to walk, it's easy enough. You can head back to your base.
Gamemaster:It's probably getting to, like, evening at this point. Suns are setting. It's
Gamemaster:It's getting darker.
Gamemaster:It is actually, I think, remarkable from your perspective,
Gamemaster:like how quickly you acclimated to every six seconds you are in a new world.
Gamemaster:It's like your brain just kind of tunes out the split second where you're between worlds.
Gamemaster:And so it's totally mundane at this point.
Gamemaster:You head on home since you're setting.
Gamemaster:Every once in a while, there's like a flash of, for six seconds,
Gamemaster:the sky is a slightly different color or it gets really humid all of a sudden.
Gamemaster:But that's pretty rare and for the most part it's it's it's been fine
Argyle:let's uh
Argyle:so guys
Argyle:i say as we're walking back
Argyle:i gotta ring a truth i think we should ask everyone in our group
Argyle:uh something to see if they're with us what should we ask we'll have 10 minutes with it
Argyle:I still kind of like the idea of us writing a little constitution thing
Anzu:Do you have any way to make that binding?
Argyle:where it's basically the tenets of
Argyle:we will all protect this heart
Argyle:we will not work with other groups
Argyle:without everyone knowing
Argyle:and we will not try to cause any harm
Argyle:to any one of our allies that are
Argyle:following the constitution
Anzu:because I feel like the people that are already going to do that are going to sign it no problem and the people who aren going to follow that are going to sign it and then keep doing their own thing anyway
Argyle:so we have I have Ring of Truth So they can lie
Benny:you Mm
Argyle:while signing it. If I want a spell
Argyle:to make sure they never break that, I need to
Argyle:spend a day with each person catching
Argyle:Gaze.
Anzu:But we could ask them while they're signing if it is their true intent
Anzu:to follow the Constitution, I suppose.
Argyle:Yes.
Argyle:And we can do it every week if we want.
Argyle:or
Anzu:Mm-hmm.
Argyle:is strider
Benny:the coalition's papers
Anzu:We could also call it more of a treaty than a constitution.
Johnny:The Strider Accords.
Anzu:I mean, either, but...
Johnny:we got there so fast
Argyle:accords for
Argyle:the coalition
Argyle:attack
Anzu:Strider, Boards of the Coalition.
Benny:so we'll have them sign the sack
Anzu:SAC. I like it.
Argyle:yeah
Benny:and
Anzu:Mm-hmm.
Argyle:Anzu's like let me show you my little bird
Benny:So we head back.
Anzu:All right, too much, too much.
Benny:We pull the sack out.
Benny:We show him the sack.
Argyle:laughing
Benny:You guys think we'll...
Anzu:Wind it back.
Argyle:laughing
Benny:Such distrust.
Benny:You think we'll betray you, shoving your sack in our face?
Anzu:Are we home now?
Anzu:Okay, because I need to tell you guys that the last person to read this book, Elastor Moss, works for Pyrolyte.
Argyle:There must be different ways to get against those library.
Benny:Huh.
Anzu:Specifically on Project Entrainment, the one where they send people to the Source of the Voidsong.
Johnny:How did they get this book?
Anzu:Six months ago.
Johnny:What?
Johnny:But how?
Johnny:How?
Anzu:they met with the folks from the pilgrimage.
Johnny:Yeah.
Argyle:with six months yeah that was the party right
Anzu:They met with the Harlequins So they might done it back six months ago when we had the party
Benny:Thank you Tomorrow morning
Johnny:Oh Oh so they were
Anzu:so
Johnny:So they're...
Johnny:They're a few steps ahead of us.
Argyle:Okay.
Argyle:Do you guys want to do the Constitution tonight or tomorrow morning?
Argyle:Okay.
Argyle:what's the name of the guy that's making this radio scanner
Gamemaster:Uh, Kadou. Kadou Flock. I was about to say of Ternion Heavy Industries. Sorry, of
Anzu:Yeah, he's home.
Argyle:or item scanner
Argyle:I've head over to Kadou
Argyle:of the coalition
Gamemaster:uh, Alkaist Freight. Uh, but that's, you know, you've absorbed them at this point. So, of
Argyle:yeah
Gamemaster:the Coalition.
Anzu:He's at our house now.
Argyle:yeah
Gamemaster:Yeah.
Gamemaster:Yeah.
Anzu:I would like to spend the evening going through some of the book with him to see what we can glean.
Argyle:Mm-hmm.
Gamemaster:Absolutely.
Anzu:Oh, Johnny's got something.
Johnny:After that whole thing, I'd like to find Anaïs and a nook.
Gamemaster:Um,
Gamemaster:okay. Yes.
Gamemaster:Sure.
Gamemaster:The twins
Gamemaster:are...
Gamemaster:God, okay. So,
Gamemaster:So they made the bonnet for your car, and they went out to go make a moat.
Argyle:Mm-hmm.
Gamemaster:Then you guys beat them to the moat.
Argyle:Now they're making the mind scanner.
Gamemaster:I forget.
Gamemaster:Oh, right.
Gamemaster:The mind scanner.
Argyle:The mind sweeper, if you will.
Gamemaster:So I think what happens is you walk in.
Gamemaster:you walk into the workshop to see Anaïs is holding what looks to be a wooden
Gamemaster:stick just kind of pointing it in the direction of Anouk and what looks to be a
Gamemaster:beaker with some gray powder in it and then Anouk hits the gray powder with a
Gamemaster:hammer there's a soft pop and then the stick
Gamemaster:burns blue for half a second before
Johnny:Oh yeah, it was crazy.
Gamemaster:it starts to burn red.
Gamemaster:And that's apparently very exciting.
Gamemaster:They're both interested in that outcome.
Gamemaster:When you
Gamemaster:come in, though, they will quickly
Gamemaster:wake the stick to put it out and say
Gamemaster:hello.
Gamemaster:How was your
Gamemaster:trip into the
Gamemaster:Undercroft?
Gamemaster:Did you find anything of note?
Johnny:We found some big spiders.
Johnny:and uh yeah did we talk about the god Herald
Gamemaster:Yes, you had mentioned them.
Johnny:oh yeah they're all they're all over the ship now too so that's another issue
Gamemaster:Oh, that's exciting.
Johnny:yeah um i got two questions for you one uh i pull out my drum of War uh
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Johnny:can i get a little more you guys think you could help me out and make this a little more oomf-y
Johnny:uh i just i need to see if they can upgrade it to like a the next level the level eight version
Johnny:of a drum of War
Gamemaster:Are these spells on the occult?
Gamemaster:They are.
Gamemaster:I think the answer is yes, you will have to pay the difference to get it upgraded, but
Gamemaster:that is within their purview.
Gamemaster:And also on the day that they do the upgrade, you have to spend three second level spells
Johnny:Okay, yeah, I think that's worth it.
Gamemaster:and two third levels.
Gamemaster:That probably won't matter depending on the timeframe, but just like something to keep
Johnny:Those are some pretty good spells.
Gamemaster:Okay there are two of us You have asked one question which is the other Oh that wasn right before alien fell there was there was some time between the two
Johnny:Okay.
Johnny:Yeah, other quick question.
Johnny:Listen where were you guys on the day that the prime minister was assassinated you know right before Rayleigh fell
Gamemaster:um we were both in Hallia at that time
Gamemaster:stuff or Renge i don't remember the exact thing but Renge had us out on a mission
Johnny:What are you guys doing?
Gamemaster:messing around with motorcades and the like.
Johnny:All right.
Johnny:Any reason you think...
Johnny:What's...
Johnny:I'm blanking on this guy's name.
Johnny:Aut.
Johnny:Any reason you think Aut would want me to have known that?
Gamemaster:Ah.
Gamemaster:I think it would be more useful to know the context around the conversation, but frankly, anything Aut wants you to know is probably not something you should give too much thought into. It's kind of his whole thing.
Johnny:I mean, did it directly lead to the destruction of Raelion?
Gamemaster:No. What?
Gamemaster:What?
Gamemaster:I think you are being misled
Johnny:Indirectly?
Johnny:That sort of seemed like that was what he was implying.
Johnny:That was my reaction.
Gamemaster:or told some kind of half-truth
Gamemaster:we were certainly not
Gamemaster:trying to cause the destruction of Raelion
Gamemaster:or
Gamemaster:do anything that would knock on effect
Gamemaster:cause the destruction of Raelion
Gamemaster:you can
Johnny:Deception check.
Gamemaster:roll a perception or deception check
Gamemaster:here if you're
Gamemaster:trying to figure out if you think they're lying
Gamemaster:okay
Gamemaster:uh yeah i mean i don know these guys these guys are enigmatic in the best of times I think it hard to tell if they being sincere or just kind of placating you
Johnny:My deception at this level.
Johnny:Okay.
Johnny:Terribly tonight.
Johnny:I got no idea.
Johnny:21.
Argyle:bye for the best
Johnny:you All right
Johnny:Well, I just wanted to ask.
Johnny:Let me know when you need me to upgrade this thing.
Gamemaster:Of course, you pick the day, and we will make that the day.
Johnny:All right.
Johnny:I'll see what we've got going on tomorrow, and I'll come back.
Benny:Not yet, maybe.
Gamemaster:It will be here.
Argyle:I wouldn't tell anyone.
Johnny:All right.
Johnny:And then in the group chat, in my head, I say, hey, I didn't tell Anouk and I about Machine
Johnny:Guard.
Johnny:Don't know if we want them to know or not, but I didn't tell them about it yet.
Benny:Fine.
Argyle:I'm not even telling the Scale.
Benny:Whoa.
Argyle:I don't want anyone to be compromised.
Johnny:Yeah.
Gamemaster:It's a secret.
Gamemaster:It can't be today, either way.
Argyle:I cast
Anzu:Hmm.
Johnny:I don't think I have actually, I don't think I have the spell slots for it today.
Johnny:Oh, okay.
Argyle:yeah
Argyle:I also cast
Gamemaster:They need the time to set up, but starting from tomorrow, you pick a day and they'll do it.
Johnny:Okay.
Argyle:Augury but we can do that after Tanner's thing
Argyle:okay
Gamemaster:Uh, sure.
Gamemaster:Okay, so Tanner, the book.
Gamemaster:What's a good...
Gamemaster:I think academia lore is probably the best proxy here for how good you are at looking at a book.
Benny:Record keeping.
Anzu:Indeed.
Gamemaster:Unless somebody else has, like, cartography lore, which I doubt.
Anzu:Indeed.
Anzu:Let's get it.
Gamemaster:So then...
Gamemaster:Yeah, do it.
Anzu:Does doing it with Kadou bring me any benefit?
Gamemaster:That's not the same.
Gamemaster:Right now you doing exploration I think is the best way of putting it So I think what it probably is is I will have somebody else roll for Kadou Excuse me And then
Anzu:Or am I helping him by doing this role?
Anzu:Or is there any kind of teamwork that we can...
Anzu:Yeah.
Argyle:If I roll can I use a mythic point if I fail
Anzu:Okay Okay Okay
Gamemaster:no, because he's not
Gamemaster:mythic.
Anzu:Can I cast Guidance on myself beforehand?
Argyle:Damn it!
Argyle:I figured.
Argyle:Can I
Gamemaster:Yeah, I don't see why not.
Argyle:cascade it on Kadou?
Gamemaster:You absolutely can. Somebody just needs
Argyle:Yeah.
Gamemaster:to, for Kadou, roll
Gamemaster:a d20 plus 12.
Benny:Call that D20 plus 12.
Argyle:Add guidance to whoever rolls that.
Anzu:24, academia.
Argyle:Guidance.
Gamemaster:I guess plus 13, because of guidance.
Benny:29 for Keto-Demia.
Gamemaster:Wow.
Gamemaster:Kadou Demian.
Gamemaster:Listen, this is kind of his whole thing.
Gamemaster:Um, he's bad at most other stuff, but he has, he specifically has horizon lore, like this is his thing, um, as part of what Alkahest Freight works on.
Anzu:Perfect.
Gamemaster:uh the two of you are looking through uh the map is probably the wrong term for this thing that
Gamemaster:you guys have found it is closer to an atlas it is a collection of maps um some of which are uh
Gamemaster:like call out things that are more interesting but the the most interesting piece of this atlas
Gamemaster:is there is a singular map at the beginning that is a map of the horizon, specifically of the void
Gamemaster:horizon. This is the void atlas. There is somewhere a star atlas that covers the other direction.
Gamemaster:But if you open up the first page of the void atlas, you'll find that unlike a normal page,
Gamemaster:which just opens and the next page and the next page.
Gamemaster:This one is a fold-out where it unfolds
Gamemaster:and then that unfolds and then that unfolds.
Gamemaster:And you start unfolding the map
Gamemaster:that is this graphical description
Gamemaster:of the voidward Horizon,
Gamemaster:starting at prime,
Gamemaster:which is at the very beginning of the book.
Gamemaster:And as you continue to fold out,
Gamemaster:it is like a timeline almost,
Gamemaster:laying out different partitions of the horizon.
Gamemaster:And you, I assume you do this indoors somewhere.
Gamemaster:You like find a place either in the workshop
Gamemaster:or somewhere like that.
Argyle:the War room.
Anzu:Yeah.
Gamemaster:Sure, in the War room.
Gamemaster:You quickly run out of room in the War room
Gamemaster:to unfold this thing.
Gamemaster:So it extends a little bit into the hallway
Gamemaster:and then extends past the hallway
Gamemaster:into the kitchen on the other side.
Gamemaster:And then it keeps going.
Gamemaster:All told, the map completely unfurled
Gamemaster:is about, I want to say 200 feet long.
Argyle:Wow.
Gamemaster:Um, it covers, it covers a little, uh, it covers, like, almost 2.8 million, uh, worlds.
Gamemaster:Um, and to do that with any sort of resolution, it has to be this ridiculously long stretch of
Gamemaster:parchment. Fragile-feeling parchment, almost. Uh, it has clearly seen some use, uh, and this book
Gamemaster:has not been magically enchanted to, to like repel coffee stains and all that kind of stuff.
Gamemaster:There is obvious wear from the people who had this atlas before you pouring over this map of notes.
Gamemaster:But you are, you are at this point like three to four days in to what is to be a four and a half
Gamemaster:month long journey.
Gamemaster:And so you unfold it all the way just to see the full length of the map and then realize that at the moment you really only need the first fold So you can like roll it back up a little bit being careful to keep the creases the same
Gamemaster:until you can see just where you've been, where you're going.
Gamemaster:The book is, the map, the atlas, is interesting in another way, in, I think,
Gamemaster:of the four of you
Gamemaster:Benny and Anzu
Benny:Are we expert in lore?
Anzu:I cannot.
Johnny:Eat.
Gamemaster:might have had a chance to interact
Gamemaster:with something like this I would love it if you could both
Gamemaster:roll your War checks for me again
Gamemaster:this is for
Gamemaster:something specific that you
Gamemaster:may have seen in Belvedere
Gamemaster:oh that is an
Anzu:I cannot.
Gamemaster:excellent question
Gamemaster:one second
Gamemaster:what level are you guys?
Anzu:Depends on if we're seven or eight.
Johnny:Oh.
Gamemaster:you should be master
Gamemaster:you should be master
Gamemaster:it's a level 7 thing
Anzu:Is that a level 8 thing?
Johnny:No.
Benny:That's the law.
Gamemaster:we just didn't do it at level 7
Gamemaster:I am learning this right now
Anzu:Then give me a 23.
Gamemaster:absolutely
Gamemaster:it does not in this particular instance
Gamemaster:change the result at all
Gamemaster:given that Kadou rolled better than you
Gamemaster:but it is good to know in general
Anzu:Alright, whatever.
Anzu:I've updated it.
Gamemaster:for your lore checks
Gamemaster:you guys are now master
Gamemaster:in your relevant lore
Gamemaster:and then it won't become relevant again until
Benny:Oh, 16.
Gamemaster:15th level at which point you'll become legendary
Gamemaster:if you're still alive
Gamemaster:okay
Gamemaster:so both of you
Gamemaster:should have so we got a 23
Gamemaster:oh that's what your give me a 23 was for
Gamemaster:it wasn't for your original one with Kadou
Gamemaster:it was for this one just now
Gamemaster:and then Benny what did you get
Gamemaster:16.
Gamemaster:Yeah, unfortunately, neither of you have seen something like this before.
Argyle:you That so cool
Gamemaster:The parchment of this map the text on it appears to move slightly You can see that there are bits of it
Gamemaster:It appears to be animated in some way.
Gamemaster:None of the text is changing necessarily, but it does appear to shift about slightly.
Gamemaster:Almost as if something is rewriting the words on the page over the words that are already there.
Argyle:it's live updating
Gamemaster:um
Argyle:would it be beneficial
Gamemaster:hmm
Gamemaster:hmm
Argyle:at some point in the future to cast mending
Argyle:on it because you mentioned some wear and
Argyle:tear do I think that's
Gamemaster:uh it's not a bad one
Argyle:that's a good idea or
Argyle:is that more flavor I'm just wondering if it's flavor
Gamemaster:certainly uh it
Gamemaster:it was more to like point out
Gamemaster:that like you guys are
Gamemaster:it is
Argyle:or if it's something that we should actually fix
Gamemaster:like I don't think you're at the
Gamemaster:moment like in danger of actually causing
Gamemaster:any damage to it. It's more so that this book has clearly seen quite a few hands over the years.
Argyle:Okay.
Argyle:Okay, cool.
Gamemaster:And so, yeah, so there's that, like, weird squiggly-ness to the text, like it's being
Gamemaster:overwritten. And you can see that, looking at your journey, you pass through a new world every
Gamemaster:six seconds. You have had the opportunity to see quite a few of the worlds on the horizon now,
Gamemaster:and come to terms with the fact that most of them are so boring.
Gamemaster:They are completely empty.
Gamemaster:They've got nothing in them.
Gamemaster:At the very least, in the world's closest to prime,
Gamemaster:like, you know, void three, void four, that kind of stuff,
Gamemaster:even when you were starting to get out into the mid to low hundreds,
Gamemaster:you still ran the chance of every once in a while
Gamemaster:you would see a source of life of, like,
Gamemaster:a group of people that decided to go 1,000 or 2,000 out on the horizon
Gamemaster:to make their own little settlement far away from other civilization.
Gamemaster:But at this point you a few thousands in and it been nothing for a long time So really the question becomes especially for this particular endeavor of yours of you want to resupply you want to find magic items
Gamemaster:at some point on this journey to continue to have the fodder to pay the tithe. And so what you're
Gamemaster:looking for are the so-called Joker Worlds, worlds that are different. They're wild cards.
Gamemaster:They are unlike the other Horizon worlds.
Gamemaster:And for the most part, also, Joker Worlds are similarly boring.
Gamemaster:They're just different boring.
Gamemaster:You find, like, the one closest to you, the one that you passed about an hour ago at this point,
Gamemaster:was a Joker world that you can see labeled on this map as four degrees colder than norm.
Gamemaster:And that's the Joker world.
Gamemaster:It's just slightly colder, but, like, not even that much colder.
Gamemaster:And similarly, a lot of the Joker Worlds have very slight variances like that.
Argyle:Bless you.
Gamemaster:The most interesting of which you can see looking at this map that you've passed so
Gamemaster:far is apparently you spent six seconds in a world where all of the continents were mashed
Gamemaster:together instead of being in separate parts of the globe.
Gamemaster:But once again, you were there for six seconds, and then you were gone.
Argyle:Yeah.
Gamemaster:Sorry?
Gamemaster:Oh, did you sneeze?
Gamemaster:So what's more interesting are ones that have some evidence of something that could be considered
Gamemaster:a magic item, which really narrows it down to two possibilities.
Gamemaster:Maybe three.
Gamemaster:One is a civilization of entities that are either like a large org that you are okay
Gamemaster:with assaulting and taking the magic items from them in some outpost far along the horizon,
Gamemaster:the chances of which become lower and lower the further voidward you get, or
Gamemaster:an entity of a
Gamemaster:group of people that aren't human and come from elsewhere on
Gamemaster:the horizon and maybe you want to take their stuff or maybe a ruin of any of those kinds or
Argyle:Okay.
Gamemaster:a collection of particularly strong magical entities of some kind like magic beasts and the
Gamemaster:like who just you can use parts of their body as magic items if you can take them down or the
Gamemaster:possible third thing it is possible albeit unlikely that magic items just naturally appear in the
Gamemaster:world by virtue of whatever strange phenomena is occurring in that joker world uh so those are kind
Argyle:Okay.
Gamemaster:of the three three major things you'd be looking out for um and uh there is some good news on that
Gamemaster:front because you guys rolled pretty well um not amazing news uh there won't be any Joker Worlds
Gamemaster:like that at least until after the next tithe uh you have a few days left until the next tithe
Gamemaster:you're not going to see a world that has any likelihood of getting magic items in that time.
Gamemaster:However, about three days after the next tithe,
Gamemaster:Kadou points it out at first because it doesn't immediately stand out to you.
Gamemaster:It appears that you are going to pass for six seconds.
Gamemaster:It is labeled as Menagerie 1,
Gamemaster:which
Gamemaster:if you like
Gamemaster:anybody who feels that they might
Gamemaster:be interested in this
Gamemaster:it would be a society check
Gamemaster:to know if you recognize what that means
Benny:I have a zero.
Argyle:Are we limited to just two roles?
Anzu:Thank you Let go
Johnny:I'll just aid Anzu in his role.
Gamemaster:uh yeah
Gamemaster:that's fine
Argyle:All right.
Argyle:Can I roll?
Argyle:Are you good at society, Benny?
Argyle:I got an 11.
Gamemaster:Benny does not care for society.
Argyle:Do you have a guidance?
Benny:I do have guidance.
Benny:I shall guide you.
Argyle:Is that plus one?
Benny:Yeah.
Gamemaster:It is plus one Even though he lives in one
Benny:Okay And he doesn even know what society is
Argyle:Okay Thanks
Johnny:you I got a 31 to aid
Benny:Begrudgingly.
Anzu:Oh.
Anzu:Does that give me a boost, Josh?
Anzu:so then that gives me a 32 on a society check because I also rolled 31
Gamemaster:A 31 will give you...
Gamemaster:That is just a regular success, but that is a
Gamemaster:success.
Benny:That's fine.
Gamemaster:Absolutely. Okay.
Argyle:何とブラック
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:All right.
Gamemaster:Yeah, the name Menagerie stands out to you,
Gamemaster:although its appearance on a map is in itself particularly interesting,
Gamemaster:both because you didn't think it was real and because it's strange.
Gamemaster:The Menagerie is a tale, often told in bedtime stories and the like, of this magic city that moves across the horizon.
Argyle:ありがとうございました
Gamemaster:Kind of described as, like, once upon a time some people from Istria found the Menagerie and that inspired them to create striders as these moving cities.
Gamemaster:but it's always told as this
Gamemaster:grand city that can move across
Gamemaster:the horizon and it collects wonders
Gamemaster:from across the horizon
Argyle:sounds juicy
Gamemaster:as it moves
Gamemaster:so
Gamemaster:to see
Gamemaster:it labeled on a map
Gamemaster:both is strange because the whole deal
Gamemaster:is that it moves so the fact that it's
Gamemaster:on the map implies that the map knows
Gamemaster:it's going to be there or is currently
Gamemaster:there
Gamemaster:but also is strange because
Anzu:Thank you You mean after the two ties from now around that border
Gamemaster:it's a fairy tale
Gamemaster:and this map says that it's there.
Gamemaster:Either way, if it's real
Gamemaster:that could be interesting
Gamemaster:both because it is civilization and because if the stories are true it definitely has a magic item or two Beyond that a little closer maybe a little bit over the edge of the next tithe
Gamemaster:it's a little difficult to tell at this point. It'll be very close either way.
Gamemaster:There are two joker spans, which are, yes, Tanner.
Gamemaster:yes sorry yes so past the first tithe um then after a few days is the menagerie and then after
Gamemaster:that uh getting close to that next tithe either right before or right after are two joker spans
Gamemaster:which are sometimes a joker world is multiple worlds there are a lot of academic thoughts
Gamemaster:around why that is the case, but sometimes you get like three or four worlds in a chain that all
Gamemaster:exhibit the same strange, uh, the, the same strange, uh, behavior. Uh, there are two stacked almost
Gamemaster:right next to each other, um, uh, uh, Hellsmith and Glacier, uh, as the two labels on the map.
Gamemaster:you can if you like flip into the atlas uh for each label there is on the map there is a
Gamemaster:corresponding page or set of pages that holds like basic information uh about the worlds uh
Gamemaster:hellsmith is a set of worlds where it's believed that something strange happened in the core of
Gamemaster:the planet on those worlds and as such it is unusually tectonically active um compared to
Gamemaster:to the normal Færrin.
Gamemaster:But it is said to be home to all manner of fire elementals
Gamemaster:and others who enjoy that kind of space.
Gamemaster:And then right afterwards, Glacier is the opposite.
Gamemaster:It is a Færrin that is, for whatever reason,
Gamemaster:completely encased in ice,
Gamemaster:as if there was a never ice age across the planet And similarly water and ice elementals and denizens who prefer colder climes tend to live there The two of them are next to each other which famously results in
Gamemaster:a War on the border between the two groups. But there are places both cultivated due to the fact
Gamemaster:that they're at War and need weapons and therefore produce weapons, as well as traders occasionally
Gamemaster:pass by, you gather that those might also contain magic items or something of the use there.
Argyle:Unless we use two groups.
Anzu:Yeah.
Gamemaster:If anything, it'll just be tricky to hit both, just given the time constraints that you have,
Argyle:Yeah.
Gamemaster:unless you split into two groups.
Gamemaster:But that's the near future for what you have coming up. You could, like, Anzu, digging through
Gamemaster:this, you know that you could spend hours, like, going through all of the possible things. You have
Gamemaster:a long journey ahead of you, and there's a lot in the distance, but that's definitely, like,
Argyle:I still think we should try to convince the Scale and or radiant arms to merge with us
Gamemaster:the near future, the next two weeks, effectively, that you're going to come across.
Argyle:because then we can have someone watch the base and then we pay one less or two less tides
Argyle:but
Argyle:Okay
Argyle:What magic items do you guys have
Argyle:that you'd be willing to let go of?
Anzu:Well, I got these two, like, almost scrolls that might be good to give away.
Johnny:We also got the jolt coil and the usurper's crown, if we're willing.
Argyle:Oh yeah, how much
Anzu:I haven't taken the time to actually figure out how much they'd be worth to the hearts.
Argyle:Yeah
Argyle:Could you do that?
Argyle:I would like
Argyle:If we're going to use those up, I would like to use them ourselves and then get turrets.
Argyle:Because I think that's dope as hell.
Anzu:Mm-hmm.
Argyle:I also have my old...
Argyle:reinforced shield
Anzu:I don't really have much either.
Johnny:I don't have too many.
Argyle:that I forget what hide we put on it,
Argyle:but it created a minor thing on that.
Argyle:So that item's also worth...
Argyle:That one's worth a good amount of gold.
Argyle:It's nice to have, but I'm willing to let go of it
Argyle:so that we can keep our allies happy.
Johnny:Yeah, I think I gave up a few, so I'm kind of down to the things that I use.
Anzu:I need my sleeve.
Argyle:Yeah.
Anzu:and my pendant of the occult I'd like to keep.
Johnny:Oh.
Anzu:And that's really all I have.
Argyle:Can you check the scrolls to see how much they are?
Anzu:Yes, before I do,
Argyle:Where it's at?
Anzu:Josh has Kadou and I wrap up
Anzu:of looking through this for the evening,
Anzu:and we have these couple of leads for the near future.
Johnny:Oh.
Anzu:I say, all right, Kadou, that was excellent work.
Anzu:You've really got a knack for this.
Gamemaster:Thank you. It is not often I get to read one of these, and I'm used to the survey reports that we have from ourselves, and they don't go out this far. So this is definitely exciting.
Anzu:Yeah, I think there's a lot more for us to learn in here.
Anzu:I actually had something a little different that I had been meaning to ask you about.
Anzu:I know you and I have kind of
Gamemaster:Sure, shoot.
Anzu:similar-ish
Anzu:thoughts and opinions on the Voidsong and its origins
Benny:Holding.
Gamemaster:I'm holding.
Anzu:I think that
Anzu:hold on, please hold
Anzu:I think that Yao
Anzu:over at Protectorate may also have
Anzu:similar opinions to us. I can't confirm that.
Anzu:But I was wondering if the two...
Gamemaster:I...
Gamemaster:I sorry I think there been some confusion here I don know Like I don believe Kadou Kadou has not expressed that he believes in the Focalist the same way
Anzu:Didn't he say he thinks it's like Raelion calling out or something?
Gamemaster:Yes, okay, just to clarify, yeah,
Anzu:No, no, yeah.
Gamemaster:he thinks that Raelion is like crying out
Gamemaster:for people to come.
Anzu:Yeah.
Gamemaster:Sorry, I apologize.
Anzu:I'm linking the like cry for help kind of portion of that.
Gamemaster:Gotcha, okay.
Anzu:We're not 100% aligned, but there's some similarities.
Gamemaster:Okay, yeah.
Anzu:I was wondering if you would want to maybe have a meeting with Yao
Anzu:and the three of us could kind of just discuss and share opinions
Anzu:and maybe even set up an ongoing thing to just think about it
Anzu:and see what we can gleam as we get closer and closer.
Gamemaster:I'd be happy to.
Gamemaster:honestly it's nice not to just get
Anzu:Yeah.
Gamemaster:laughed out of the room you know
Gamemaster:and any more information we can
Anzu:Yeah.
Gamemaster:pick up would be useful I know
Gamemaster:that's kind of like your
Gamemaster:iconoclasms reason detra
Anzu:Mm-hmm.
Gamemaster:and all but
Gamemaster:I definitely like to help
Gamemaster:out where I can now that we've got
Gamemaster:you know ample time
Gamemaster:it's not like I'm doing much else other
Gamemaster:than doing this tinkering for
Anzu:Right.
Gamemaster:you so
Gamemaster:gosh I wonder what my
Anzu:Perfect. Yeah.
Gamemaster:I have no idea what Alkahest Freight is going to say
Gamemaster:if we make it back in one piece.
Anzu:Yeah, well, we...
Gamemaster:I don't know if they expect it from me,
Gamemaster:but I don't know what I'm going to have for them.
Gamemaster:Maybe this.
Gamemaster:Maybe I could show them the Atlas,
Gamemaster:if you guys don't mind me borrowing it.
Anzu:Could be, yeah.
Anzu:We've been thrown into a very unprecedented situation here,
Anzu:so I think we're going to learn a lot on this journey
Anzu:and it'll be at least a lot of knowledge to share when we get home.
Gamemaster:Yeah, this is definitely a learning experience.
Anzu:Yeah So anyway I talk to Yao and see if he actually interested in chatting about this or not But just wanted to plant that seed
Gamemaster:I hope we end up in a good place That what I praying for
Gamemaster:Alright.
Gamemaster:Do you let me know? I'll be here.
Gamemaster:So, I'm in that bunk.
Gamemaster:And he just points to one of the bunks in your barracks.
Anzu:Perfect.
Anzu:All right, that's all. We can go back to the magic items.
Gamemaster:Absolutely.
Benny:the joy it's your calls diamond it's not that much money
Gamemaster:Sorry, what do you need to analyze, Tanner?
Argyle:what are they worth the magic items
Anzu:Oh, yes, Josh, I need to analyze the papers.
Argyle:does Benny need more damage
Argyle:does Benny need more damage
Anzu:The, what are they called?
Anzu:Papers of perfection, just to get a sense of how much they'd be worth to the heart.
Gamemaster:Yes.
Gamemaster:Absolutely.
Anzu:I think I already know what they do, but.
Gamemaster:yeah you already
Gamemaster:you already like
Benny:Four.
Argyle:Okay.
Anzu:Oh, yeah.
Gamemaster:looked up
Gamemaster:I think you would just know
Gamemaster:they're worth
Gamemaster:23 gold pieces each
Gamemaster:so 2 energy
Gamemaster:yes
Gamemaster:4 because of
Gamemaster:how you have the upgrade
Gamemaster:okay
Argyle:So I guess two things.
Argyle:One,
Argyle:once they're done talking,
Argyle:the other two, I'm going to be like,
Argyle:all right, can I use the War room now for War stuff?
Benny:an hour later oh it's
Argyle:and I can cast Mending on that later
Anzu:Let me just hold this back up.
Johnny:And it's later.
Anzu:And an hour later...
Argyle:I will then bring in
Argyle:I'd have Benny come in
Argyle:because I feel like he's like a general
Argyle:a little general
Argyle:and then I'm going to auger
Gamemaster:Thank you Uh yeah
Argyle:and I'm going to
Argyle:put down my augering stuff on the
Argyle:the War room table and basically just ask the judge would it be a good thing if we went back and killed that guy from the library
Johnny:you You can go back and steal the coil
Argyle:nobody has the
Argyle:kill it
Gamemaster:okay I have to
Johnny:Or the ribbon.
Argyle:I don't I don't I was
Argyle:questioning the coil thing because I
Argyle:yeah
Argyle:yeah
Gamemaster:let me roll a dc
Argyle:I can roll a secret one if you want.
Gamemaster:6 flat check
Gamemaster:is that what it is
Gamemaster:dc 6 flat check
Gamemaster:oh yeah
Gamemaster:do that
Gamemaster:blind gm roll
Argyle:Blind GM roll?
Argyle:Is that what it is?
Argyle:Or is it private?
Gamemaster:blind
Gamemaster:Blind.
Argyle:Okay.
Gamemaster:Private means we both can see it, but nobody else.
Argyle:Okay.
Gamemaster:Blind means only I can see it.
Argyle:All right, so that's the roll.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:All right.
Gamemaster:What do you get out of this?
Gamemaster:Good or bad?
Benny:Same.
Argyle:it says good, bad, or nothing,
Gamemaster:Or mix in good and bad?
Argyle:but if it's a failed, it says nothing anyway.
Gamemaster:Good, bad, mixed, and nothing.
Gamemaster:Absolutely.
Gamemaster:make the query,
Gamemaster:you get nothing back.
Argyle:I don't feel comfortable acting on this.
Argyle:Because either it's right,
Argyle:or it's wrong, and then we're just doing
Argyle:something bad.
Argyle:also the judge doesn't like to be asked twice
Benny:Fair enough.
Argyle:so I'm not going to risk the chance that I failed
Argyle:because if he said nothing and I asked again
Argyle:bad
Argyle:okay I wrap up my augury stuff
Gamemaster:Um, Solari Sub-surface?
Benny:Solari.
Argyle:and then I'm going to go to what is the other group
Argyle:that we took in
Argyle:yeah what
Benny:Drink.
Gamemaster:Yeah.
Gamemaster:Uh, Solari Subserv- Solari Sub-surface, like what does the org do?
Argyle:what do they do before that again
Argyle:yeah
Gamemaster:They're a shipping company.
Gamemaster:Roll a diplomacy check.
Argyle:I'm gonna ask if they want to
Argyle:they got a lot of time to kill
Argyle:do they want to learn basic
Argyle:fighting
Argyle:stuff? I don't know if
Argyle:they're interested. I'm not expecting
Argyle:to make an army. This is more
Argyle:of like
Argyle:do these people want to be slightly more
Argyle:self-sufficient for their own sake? I don't mean
Argyle:it as like I'm forcing them
Argyle:alright
Argyle:Let me see my skills.
Gamemaster:30.
Argyle:All right.
Argyle:I have three mythics.
Argyle:I'm going to reroll.
Argyle:30.
Argyle:30.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:so the the three people that you got from Solari Sub-surface are uh salvado and the two
Argyle:Hmm.
Gamemaster:unnamed lackeys the ones that were asleep in the car um the two lackeys are clearly
Argyle:Hmm.
Argyle:Mm-hmm.
Gamemaster:uh like pencil pushers um the there are people who sit behind the desk or whatever
Gamemaster:salvado is interesting in that uh like having speak is having spoken to him he's clearly uh
Gamemaster:I don't know what a polite way to put this.
Gamemaster:Past is prime, I guess is the best way of putting it.
Gamemaster:You look at him and you can see that at one time
Gamemaster:he had been relatively in shape.
Argyle:Okay.
Gamemaster:Maybe not a fighter necessarily, but athletic.
Gamemaster:And he is no longer that.
Argyle:Okay.
Gamemaster:But you can tell there was once a time where he was.
Gamemaster:Now he's got kind of like, he's pudgy and pasty,
Argyle:Okay.
Gamemaster:and he got like deep sunken almost bloodshot eyes It clear that a lifetime of recreational and maybe not so recreational drinking has taken a toll on him
Argyle:Okay you and I cured him of it
Argyle:I cured him of alcoholism
Gamemaster:You made him, did you sober him up
Gamemaster:or did you cure him of alcoholism?
Argyle:I cured him of alcoholism
Argyle:okay
Gamemaster:I think it's absolutely wild,
Gamemaster:like the ramifications of the fact
Gamemaster:that a cleric can go up to somebody and be like,
Gamemaster:alcoholism be gone. But yeah, okay, sure, if you cured him of it, you rolled really
Gamemaster:well on the diplomacy. At the moment, he feels like he wants to turn a new leaf. I
Gamemaster:don't know if you can tell from looking at him, like, if he'll continue to stay
Argyle:yep
Gamemaster:motivated over time, but at the moment, if you're willing to, like, help him whip
Argyle:yeah
Gamemaster:himself back up into shape. He's ready. He'll do it. The other two are
Argyle:yeah
Gamemaster:perhaps less enthusiastic. They will do it if you tell them they have to do it,
Argyle:um what do you guys think i don't feel like ordering these people to do anything but
Gamemaster:but they will not volunteer.
Argyle:do i with that that diplomacy check do i think they'd resent me if they tell them to do it
Gamemaster:They have a pretty...
Gamemaster:They're in this weird space right now.
Gamemaster:They don't actually have really any responsibilities.
Gamemaster:Their needs are being met.
Gamemaster:So, like, their day-to-day is fine, and they're content.
Argyle:so that's what I'm going to try to lead into
Gamemaster:The one, like, thing is the looming threat of death,
Gamemaster:which kind of puts a damper on the otherwise nice vacation that they're having.
Gamemaster:and so
Gamemaster:I want somebody needs to I would love it if somebody could make a will save for me please
Argyle:I'm just going to be like you know it's probably good
Argyle:for your own health like what if
Argyle:something bad happens while we out foraging for items that what I trying to be like Ed can I get Jotty in here
Benny:Thank you Okay
Anzu:you Oh my god
Johnny:you I brought these guys on
Gamemaster:Their modifier is plus six.
Johnny:I got it.
Johnny:11.
Argyle:Don't worry. If they get depressed, I can cure that too.
Johnny:11.
Gamemaster:Depression is not the thing that we're looking for.
Argyle:Well, it's a disease.
Johnny:Crazy.
Gamemaster:Also, I don't know if you can cure mental illness.
Gamemaster:I don't know if that's a thing.
Argyle:Depression's a disease.
Gamemaster:Is it defined as a disease in the 1960s?
Argyle:Clinical depression.
Gamemaster:In the 1960s?
Gamemaster:Who knows?
Gamemaster:I think maybe you just think they're a little bit sad
Gamemaster:and they need to go for a walk.
Argyle:Exactly why I'm telling them to go work out.
Argyle:Yeah.
Johnny:Did we try being happy?
Gamemaster:Yeah, exactly.
Gamemaster:with an 11
Argyle:Yep.
Argyle:Okay.
Gamemaster:I think
Argyle:So, I'm going to go ahead and do a little bit of a test.
Gamemaster:they don't
Gamemaster:resent you
Gamemaster:because they're a bit too busy being scared
Gamemaster:for their life
Gamemaster:they're scared that like the tide is going to happen
Gamemaster:and they're going to die and like maybe something
Gamemaster:went wrong and you guys aren't actually
Gamemaster:like paying the tide for them
Gamemaster:and so it's going to happen and they're just going to die
Gamemaster:or maybe somebody's going to attack and kill them that way
Gamemaster:or any other
Gamemaster:there are a lot of ways that they could die
Gamemaster:and they've had a lot of time at this point to think up all of them and then some more on top
Gamemaster:of that uh and you being like hey you should get into shape you should prepare yourself so you can
Gamemaster:defend yourself has just added you to the list of possible ways we could die uh and they're like
Gamemaster:hey listen that's something i could i can address that particular one i will get him to not kill me
Gamemaster:um and so they will they will join they don't resent you they are definitely scared of you
Gamemaster:though Just as like yeah the you are you have become representative in their mind of the dangers that lurk on the Strider regardless of how true that necessarily is
Argyle:yeah you know to be a good ruler
Argyle:yeah I tell them they have to do
Johnny:you We can play a game
Gamemaster:But yeah, they will join Salvado.
Argyle:they gotta do it for a week
Argyle:and if they don't want to do it after a week
Argyle:they can just chill it out
Argyle:I will not bother them
Argyle:what
Gamemaster:Can I have somebody...
Johnny:We can play a game.
Gamemaster:Actually, Johnny, you do this.
Gamemaster:You're going to roll a perception check for them
Anzu:Hopefully them.
Johnny:19.
Gamemaster:as they sense motive on Argyle.
Gamemaster:They have a plus four.
Gamemaster:Okay, great.
Gamemaster:Yep, so they agree to do it for the week.
Johnny:We can play a fun game.
Gamemaster:Did you promise to send him a sandwich every day
Johnny:Who's going to last longer?
Johnny:These guys training or the guy I'm sending sandwiches to?
Gamemaster:or was it every week? I forget the cadence
Johnny:It was every day.
Argyle:Oh, man.
Gamemaster:Every day, okay
Benny:Yeah.
Anzu:It's a good start.
Johnny:And then I walked by, Johnny's in the kitchen meal prepping sandwiches right now.
Johnny:And whoever walks in, he goes, you think seven sandwiches is good?
Johnny:Think this guy's going to survive seven days of sandwiches?
Gamemaster:Okay
Johnny:All right.
Johnny:I got seven PB&Js meal prepped in the fridge.
Argyle:Also, before we go to sleep, Anzu,
Argyle:can you send your bird around to see
Argyle:if Prime Meridian has a plus two modifier
Anzu:Oh, if they have an array up.
Argyle:to their magic items?
Argyle:Yeah, and can we see from here if our neighbor has one?
Gamemaster:The RunGunners?
Argyle:No, the other one.
Gamemaster:Or um, gosh is it Hildebrandt?
Argyle:I forget.
Argyle:Hildebrandt, Hildebrandt.
Argyle:Yeah.
Gamemaster:Absolutely.
Argyle:Because I just want to know if we've got to give these guys four
Argyle:or if we've got to give them two.
Gamemaster:Excuse me. Okay, so you're sending
Anzu:Right.
Gamemaster:Othello around to do
Gamemaster:a little bit of scouting to see
Gamemaster:who has a scythe and a ray.
Gamemaster:Is what you're saying.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:Absolutely.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:I don't think you need a perception check here.
Gamemaster:It's meant to be pretty obvious
Gamemaster:from Bystander who flies around.
Gamemaster:So you can tell Othello
Gamemaster:to go back and then...
Gamemaster:Once again, communication
Gamemaster:with your bird is hard. He doesn't use words,
Anzu:No, and I don't really know how to time when to look.
Gamemaster:right?
Anzu:I mean, I could estimate based on his fly speed and the distance to Prime Meridian.
Anzu:And then I get a minute window to be correct.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:Rolling
Gamemaster:an Arcana check.
Gamemaster:like a stand-in for timekeeping.
Argyle:I'm keeping
Anzu:Doing math.
Gamemaster:Actually, no, it would be survival.
Argyle:timekeeper
Gamemaster:It's survival.
Argyle:bird knows bird
Gamemaster:Because it's how far a bird can fly
Gamemaster:in a given amount of time.
Gamemaster:That's definitely survival.
Anzu:Oh, stupid.
Anzu:That was stupid.
Gamemaster:What'd you get?
Anzu:I had a natural 20 for a 31.
Gamemaster:Nice!
Anzu:That's so stupid.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:you know the air velocity
Anzu:Thank you perception Which is plus 12
Gamemaster:of an unladen swallow
Gamemaster:so you send Othello
Gamemaster:off towards
Gamemaster:Prime Meridian and you start
Gamemaster:counting in your head 1, 2,
Gamemaster:3 and then exactly
Gamemaster:the moment when you think Othello
Gamemaster:will be flying over Prime Meridian
Gamemaster:initiate the connection with him so you can look through his eyes
Gamemaster:roll a perception check for me
Gamemaster:I know I said that you wouldn need one but I asking for one now I lied This is his perception
Anzu:Actually, can I do that in here?
Anzu:Please hold.
Anzu:Othello.
Anzu:Perception.
Anzu:Why does it say plus...
Gamemaster:I don't know why.
Anzu:Oh, because he's still level 7.
Gamemaster:Oh.
Gamemaster:I can't make a...
Anzu:We're going to add 2 to this roll.
Gamemaster:That's fine.
Argyle:Yeah, mythic.
Anzu:Oh, geez.
Anzu:He's not a great scout.
Anzu:That's a 16.
Gamemaster:16. Okay. Well, I told you without the perception check that it's a bit of a
Gamemaster:freebie to like see specifically Prime Meridian if they have a Spire. They do
Gamemaster:do not uh siphon array they do not have an array um with a 16 uh he has night vision uh and it is
Argyle:Son of a bitch.
Anzu:He has low light vision.
Johnny:We've got to have dark vision.
Gamemaster:nighttime um actually does he does he does othello have dark vision
Gamemaster:he has low light vision okay there are there's definitely somewhere in the vicinity that has a
Anzu:
Gamemaster:siphon array. What direction it is, how far away it is, you don't know. But Othello's flying around
Gamemaster:and he sees in the area around Prime Meridian a siphon array. And then your connection cuts.
Argyle:yeah
Anzu:I mean, that's the Scale or maybe the Ministry of Cultural Progress, could be the church.
Gamemaster:this siphon array gives you a plus two to any item you feed into your heart
Argyle:the siphon array just adds plus two right
Argyle:yeah
Anzu:Yeah.
Argyle:okay
Gamemaster:which has pretty good compounding benefits if you get it very early which you guys did
Gamemaster:yeah you can you can just peek your your head out Hildebrandt does not
Argyle:And then can we just look over to see if Hildebrandt does from our These fuckers
Argyle:Alright.
Argyle:Okay.
Gamemaster:Anything else?
Argyle:So, I can give my shield, my shield...
Argyle:My backup shield, my fortress shield.
Argyle:That one's worth...
Benny:Sure.
Argyle:95 gold pieces.
Anzu:Right, because how much do we owe total?
Argyle:So that's worth two tithes worth that I can give them.
Argyle:And just say, keep the change for next tithe.
Argyle:And then we can give two sheets to someone else.
Argyle:And then just have to pay four next time.
Benny:Didn't we agree just for this next one though?
Anzu:Total?
Argyle:Four each.
Argyle:Hildebrandt made it seem like
Anzu:It's kind of ambiguous where the agreement ends.
Argyle:if we
Argyle:they're not going to push us too much
Argyle:if we miss one
Argyle:they were like
Argyle:yeah we want it
Argyle:but I want to give
Argyle:Primaridian 9 right now
Argyle:and be like
Argyle:we're good for this one
Argyle:and the next dive
Benny:Just for this time?
Benny:I think that works.
Argyle:If we disagreed for this one, I'm still happy to give them the nine under the pretense that, like, we're done.
Johnny:Yeah, I think with the, we're done.
Argyle:This gets the next one. We give you a bonus one. There you go.
Johnny:Good way to do it.
Argyle:And we'll throw in the extra because we want to...
Argyle:Yes, Johnny, when you tell them via scan, be like, hey, we know you're a strong ally.
Johnny:Got it Hey fam You guys are super strong Here a little freebie Done a lot of emotions Yeah
Benny:Thank you No
Argyle:We want to throw in an extra cycle.
Argyle:Phrase it that way so it doesn't even see, you know.
Anzu:you Say that again
Argyle:There you go Yeah yeah yeah yeah
Argyle:Second question.
Argyle:Do we think these weird scripts are going to corrupt Hildebrandt's art
Argyle:if we can feed it in there?
Johnny:I think so.
Argyle:Okay, cool.
Argyle:we'll just give Hilda Brant the two other scripts.
Benny:Maybe on Zuo Pines.
Anzu:I mean, I can think on...
Johnny:I feel like they can take it.
Argyle:I mean, we gave
Argyle:we gave our heart literally
Argyle:a void heart. I don't think
Argyle:this is going to, the Herald is going to be that big of a deal.
Argyle:Yeah.
Benny:All right.
Benny:Well, it's more like neutral.
Argyle:Hmm.
Benny:At least this one was.
Anzu:on I mean
Argyle:I will try it.
Gamemaster:You can roll a religion check.
Anzu:do these
Anzu:papers have
Anzu:a like pull of the Herald
Anzu:inherently within them
Argyle:Uh.
Argyle:28.
Gamemaster:28.
Gamemaster:Uh,
Gamemaster:there's, like,
Gamemaster:definitely a tinge. So,
Gamemaster:the tricky bit here is
Gamemaster:you don't know what
Gamemaster:the Herald is like.
Gamemaster:Like, you've come across
Gamemaster:bits
Gamemaster:of things that are infused with
Gamemaster:the magic of
Gamemaster:the host, or the Scale,
Gamemaster:or the
Gamemaster:compelled, or really any of the
Gamemaster:outer gods. They all have this distinct kind of melody to them. If you
Gamemaster:you listen for very closely you can hear if you're magically attuned. There is a
Argyle:All right.
Gamemaster:melody here that is different than the ones that you are familiar with with the
Gamemaster:six outer gods. I, like, you cannot definitively say this is what the Herald
Gamemaster:sounds like, so to speak, but you can say it is distinct from the six outer gods I
Gamemaster:am familiar with.
Gamemaster:That said, it doesn't
Benny:73.
Argyle:All right, cool.
Gamemaster:feel particularly corrupting
Gamemaster:necessarily. I don't think
Argyle:Okay.
Gamemaster:that Argyle would be
Gamemaster:worried here that it would
Gamemaster:overwrite the heart
Gamemaster:to be Herald-worshipping or something
Gamemaster:of that nature. It just doesn't
Argyle:All right.
Gamemaster:seem like what the pamphlet is for.
Argyle:And then what's our current heart HP at or magic at?
Benny:Unless we've made offerings.
Benny:for now
Argyle:Okay.
Johnny:The crown gives you a success against a mental save once a day, right?
Argyle:You want to keep the coil now?
Benny:the crown
Argyle:Should we sacrifice the spider to then get a turret?
Benny:how much does it use
Argyle:Yeah.
Argyle:Yeah.
Benny:surface crown
Benny:um
Gamemaster:I believe it gives you a plus one to save against mental effects and once per day you
Benny:Thank you it been more than 50 yeah because of opportunity attacks
Argyle:nope the only reason i don't sorry go ahead
Johnny:It would be cool to get the turrets, but we've seen Grayson use mental stuff before.
Gamemaster:can use it as a reaction to change a failure to a success against a mental effect.
Argyle:yeah
Johnny:I kind of think, going off of the earlier discussion we had before this, I kind of think
Argyle:yeah my problem is what are the odds Benny has a free reaction Pretty low Pretty low
Johnny:we should give it to Benny, because if Benny gets controlled, we all die.
Anzu:Oh because he always trying to kill
Benny:actually no it's probably been about 50-50
Benny:it might have been true last fight
Argyle:I think before your turn, you usually always use a reaction.
Benny:I've been trying to keep track on how effective
Benny:the
Benny:the opportunity attacks have been
Benny:how much was usurpers worth
Argyle:Yeah.
Gamemaster:500 pieces.
Argyle:I can also, if we're going in for a fight with Grayson,
Johnny:Okay.
Johnny:I mean, I have precautions.
Argyle:have stuff to cleanse that.
Johnny:I took a new feat this level to also prevent against that.
Argyle:Yeah.
Johnny:I mean, I guess we have built in for it.
Argyle:I think...
Johnny:It'd be good.
Johnny:I just wanted to bring that up.
Argyle:Yeah.
Benny:We should fight Grayson today.
Gamemaster:What are you talking about?
Argyle:also if we were to fight Grayson now
Johnny:yeah we
Argyle:we're going to die anyway
Argyle:so hopefully by the time
Argyle:if that ever does happen
Argyle:we have something
Gamemaster:You leveled up.
Argyle:yeah
Gamemaster:You guys are so strong now.
Argyle:yeah
Johnny:yeah
Benny:We just power spiked.
Gamemaster:He could be worse.
Gamemaster:He could be weak, I mean.
Gamemaster:He might be injured.
Johnny:we just keep checking in
Gamemaster:Maybe he, like, stubbed his toe.
Johnny:machine god how injured is he right now
Benny:Sorry.
Argyle:So we get, if we get the turrets, this would give us 52, turrets are 75.
Johnny:if we're prepared
Johnny:cool
Argyle:So we'd be net loss 18.
Argyle:So we go down to 54, right?
Argyle:this would give us 52 with the additional plus 2 Next time is expected to be what 28
Benny:Turrets are 75.
Benny:Yes we be at 50 what does it say on the
Gamemaster:you It tells you when the next expected tile is going to be
Benny:on the heart because doesn't it say next
Benny:expected tithe
Benny:I thought it did like we saw
Gamemaster:It doesn't tell you the amount.
Benny:it go up to 21
Benny:yeah it went from 20 to 21
Gamemaster:You saw... I don't... Did I say that? Oh.
Argyle:I thought we did too.
Anzu:Hmm.
Argyle:Yeah.
Gamemaster:Okay, I'm sorry. If I told you that, then we'll just keep going. It says 27.
Benny:So Benny has a poly tool, a crushing poly tool.
Gamemaster:I...
Benny:Does it count as being a full magic item,
Benny:even if it's just a rune attached to something?
Benny:Or is the rune the only thing that counts?
Gamemaster:You do not get the extra, like,
Gamemaster:six cold pieces or whatever
Gamemaster:from the polytool itself,
Gamemaster:because that's not magic.
Gamemaster:It's the root of it.
Benny:Fair enough.
Gamemaster:you would we're not we're not doing rune arbitrage that's not happening
Johnny:So, I know that...
Benny:I thought that, because I was looking at it, I was like,
Benny:so what, we can just buy runes
Benny:and then stick them on an expensive
Benny:weapon like a poly tool, and then
Benny:it's just more? It doesn't...
Benny:Okay, yeah.
Benny:I just wanted to clarify.
Benny:So the shifting
Benny:rune is worth 50.
Benny:Another shifting. Whoa, I'm also not offering
Benny:up the shifting rune.
Benny:The crushing rune is worth 50.
Benny:And Benny has
Benny:a strict surplus.
Johnny:really cool but I feel like it might be more strategic to get the spoofing transmitter and then save up or save up for the spoofing transmitter and then save up for the parasite hook just because
Argyle:you the reason I worried about indexing in that is people are going to know we
Johnny:a DC 24 deception check is not uber high or 24 society check I don't know Anzu's looking at
Argyle:stealing stuff.
Argyle:And I feel like we're in a weird
Johnny:The spoofing transmitters, but neither of those are, I mean, the parasite hook's stealing,
Argyle:Cold War state, and if we start
Argyle:stealing stuff and piss someone off, we might get
Argyle:invaded. And if we get invaded...
Johnny:but the masking matrix and the spoofing transmitter don't steal.
Argyle:Hmm.
Johnny:The masking matrix, once every three tide cycles, it halves our payment, and then the
Argyle:Hmm.
Johnny:a spoofing transmitter, it's a DC 24 deception check,
Argyle:so someone gets screwed though in that one
Johnny:and it increases someone else's by 10 energy
Johnny:and then can reduce ours by 10 energy.
Argyle:yeah
Johnny:Yeah, but I mean, I feel like someone else
Argyle:yeah
Johnny:is going to get that too, so it's better to have
Johnny:that ahead of the game.
Argyle:personally i prefer to get the turrets and then just go all up
Johnny:I also think that the turrets are a very open War sort of thing, and we're not at the open War stage.
Argyle:That path.
Argyle:But if you also want to go that path now, I get it.
Argyle:I think it's a deterrent.
Argyle:And if we start getting, we're going to start stealing stuff.
Argyle:That's more of a reason.
Argyle:That's my philosophy.
Argyle:Do you guys have an opinion?
Johnny:I don't know. 2d8 plus 4 piercing damage is not...
Johnny:It's good, but it's not that much if they can move fast or teleport.
Argyle:Yeah.
Argyle:that's gonna stop just like non-high level npcs like undead things and
Benny:uh yeah the thing with the so the masking matrix might be useful later on
Argyle:Yeah.
Anzu:It could take out a zombie around.
Johnny:I'm voting for the vessel logistics and espionage, but there's more people in the party.
Benny:it means i don't i'm not sure we should be spending energy on it now because what total
Benny:tithe is 400. So like if it really comes down to it like four teams, this will pay for itself in two
Gamemaster:10?
Argyle:Like 15 to 20, right?
Benny:two 3x cycles. So six cycles it'll pay for itself. That's still kind of a lot.
Benny:How many tithe cycles do we expect before we hit the wall?
Gamemaster:I have to double check.
Argyle:Yeah.
Gamemaster:I don't have that off the top of my head.
Argyle:And we can always get multiple turrets too.
Gamemaster:Correct.
Argyle:or go straight to feedback shield
Anzu:I
Johnny:It's, oh, so we can get multiple turrets, just the same cost for each one.
Argyle:yeah
Argyle:Anzu what do you think
Gamemaster:every nine days.
Benny:Thank you Thank you Okay
Argyle:Mm-hmm.
Anzu:I like the logistics stuff because it eventually feeds back, right?
Argyle:Mm you My thoughts are the more we go into the logistics the more likely we are to be attacked but
Anzu:Because over time, then we're saving energy.
Anzu:And so the sooner you do that the longer you have to benefit from that And I feel like we not current risk of open War that requires the turret
Gamemaster:I double checked, it is 15 cycles.
Argyle:15 seconds.
Benny:I do think the highest
Argyle:yeah yeah
Benny:ROI for us
Benny:is feedback shielding
Benny:1d6 damage per
Benny:melee 1d6 force per
Benny:melee attack on a structure
Benny:or defender
Benny:I mean how many times does
Benny:does Argyle and Benny need to get hit to
Benny:equal a turret
Benny:like 3 times
Benny:a turn
Benny:and that's just Argyle and Benny.
Benny:If we have a bunch of other allies, which we do,
Benny:we have many that are kind of fodder.
Argyle:They're going to die in a hit.
Anzu:So you think our best bet is to just save up more and go straight to the feedback ceiling?
Argyle:They're going to die in a hit.
Benny:Yeah, but well, they're going to do 1d6 damage before they die.
Benny:And once per...
Benny:Yeah, when we have the funds available.
Benny:available. Because also, once per
Benny:tide, the shield can completely negate
Benny:one structural hazard
Benny:event. I don't like
Gamemaster:turning in heavy
Benny:the way it's worded, because I was thinking another
Argyle:Yep.
Benny:team causing structural damage,
Benny:but now I'm thinking that something else
Benny:might be causing structural damage.
Benny:What are the people that fly around?
Argyle:Yeah.
Benny:Hildebrandt's enemies.
Benny:Ternion. If Ternion
Benny:drops a literal bomb from a
Benny:plane on ours, this can negate
Argyle:Yeah.
Benny:that once per tide, which I
Benny:like is crazy tides are every nine days you said josh or every seven every night
Argyle:Also...
Gamemaster:every night
Benny:once a week we can avoid having half of our structure destroyed
Argyle:Also though with the same amount of energy we can just get two turrets That true
Johnny:I like Mike reasoning for the feedback shielding
Benny:yeah but the turns can negate bomb you
Johnny:I didn't read that last one.
Johnny:I don't know if we're going to have enough in-game time
Johnny:to go down both routes.
Johnny:So I think we either have to prepare for someone else
Johnny:to start spoofing on us and parasiting us
Johnny:and go all in on defense and security.
Benny:Who are our neighbors?
Anzu:That's interesting.
Johnny:or be prepared to lose the base.
Johnny:I mean, I think if we go down defense and security, that's fine.
Johnny:We just have to start storing extra energy
Johnny:and be prepared for someone else to start parasiting and spoofing us.
Anzu:our neighbors are
Benny:I feel like
Anzu:Hildebrandt
Benny:aren't they friendly?
Benny:one of them is very friendly one of them's not
Gamemaster:That's Hiltbrandt and RunGunners.
Johnny:But the spoofing transmitter is one rival faction, not just next to you.
Anzu:so one good one
Anzu:not so good
Benny:yeah but the parasite hook is next to you which is i'm more concerned about
Johnny:So they can...
Johnny:Yeah.
Johnny:So, I mean, we could theoretically be having a plus 20 on any of these.
Anzu:Well, okay, so if we focus more on defense, it's possible we can maybe convince Hildebrandt
Benny:so do I want to talk to them before we do any
Argyle:Come on.
Anzu:to go into more logistics type stuff.
Anzu:And if they're pulling energy on the behalf of the coalition, then that still benefits
Anzu:us kind of indirectly.
Anzu:Yeah Yeah
Benny:I'm okay just sitting on
Benny:the energy for now
Gamemaster:you It a platinum per point
Argyle:Is anyone Yeah Does anyone have a four four energy worth of an item rather than the shield so that
Johnny:Let sit on it for a day or so and see what they doing See if we can convince them to go all in on Vessel
Argyle:we don't give the shield to prime radian then we want to start conserving more
Argyle:10 gold to energy point
Johnny:What's the conversion rate again?
Johnny:I don't have it.
Johnny:Where am I?
Johnny:I have nothing.
Johnny:All the stuff I'm using is...
Benny:the crushing rune is i think it's 45 or 50 i think it's 50.
Gamemaster:The crushing rune is 50 gold pieces.
Argyle:Oh, so if you do that one and then the four things,
Johnny:All the stuff I've left, stuff I'm using.
Argyle:then we could dump the shield into this and we get nine.
Argyle:Well, we'll get 11 because we have the plus.
Benny:it is
Gamemaster:Mm-hmm.
Benny:nice
Benny:we could just get that one
Gamemaster:The greater crushing rune is 650 gold pieces.
Argyle:Cool.
Johnny:Whoa.
Gamemaster:You should get your hands on one of those.
Johnny:let's go pick that up
Gamemaster:Yeah.
Gamemaster:Yeah.
Argyle:All right, and then final question before we part.
Argyle:If we do the tithe masking matrix, can we pick when to spoof it?
Gamemaster:It's...
Argyle:So the reason I...
Gamemaster:I...
Argyle:Wait, sorry, just to clarify.
Argyle:How does chain of events work?
Argyle:like let's say multiple people try to screw us and then our tide goes up by 20 can we
Gamemaster:How do you decide before you know?
Argyle:choose then to cut in half or do we have to decide before we know
Argyle:okay
Gamemaster:It's you decide before you know.
Gamemaster:Effectively, the way it works is before a tithe happens, you choose to use it or not,
Argyle:yeah
Gamemaster:and then also people choose the siphons and the spoofing and all that kind of stuff.
Gamemaster:And then once the tithe happens, we will resolve them.
Gamemaster:The way that I'll do it is we will do things that increase your score first
Gamemaster:and then things that decrease their score.
Gamemaster:So if you think that somebody's
Gamemaster:going to do it to you and you use it you stand a chance to like have the amount that they added
Argyle:Johnny, if you can convince the Radiant Arms
Johnny:Okay.
Gamemaster:on top of it uh but like i you don't like learn that somebody's done it to you and then have the
Gamemaster:chance to respond
Argyle:also to join us and we get their heart
Argyle:worth of gold, I'm happy just
Argyle:getting the energy feedback and then going
Argyle:into the Tide thing. Because
Argyle:RunGunners can help defend better than a turret.
Johnny:Maybe we talked about.
Argyle:I'm also very happy with that.
Benny:Yeah.
Argyle:Because right now we literally just have the twins.
Anzu:Everyone in our house, right?
Argyle:Everyone else will get fucking creamed.
Johnny:Yeah.
Argyle:Like, that's the problem.
Johnny:Okay.
Argyle:We have no defense the second we leave.
Benny:Yeah, I was thinking that too
Anzu:All right.
Argyle:Yeah.
Benny:on second thought for the turrets.
Benny:Like...
Argyle:That's why, because remember we originally were like,
Argyle:maybe we should just get a bunch of turrets,
Argyle:because right now we have no one.
Argyle:If we have RunGunners, or not RunGunners,
Argyle:the radiant arms people that can pop shots from behind the walls, great.
Johnny:Maybe we talk to them tomorrow and see what they're doing and see if we can convince
Argyle:I'm okay going the spoofing route.
Benny:Agree.
Argyle:okay
Argyle:yeah
Johnny:Raiding Arms to join us and then see what everyone else is doing.
Argyle:cool
Argyle:and then we're offering primary
Argyle:primary can come get the crushing rune we're not giving it to them
Argyle:we're not going to their base
Argyle:we've learned from them that that's a stupid thing to do
Argyle:we're not going they got to come to us we'll hand it to them
Argyle:we can give it to
Argyle:Hildebrandt but those are the guys
Argyle:They don't want to go.
Benny:Okay, for my...
Benny:Let's see, we have reinforced bulkheads.
Benny:Just for my accounting.
Gamemaster:Right now, purchased, you have Reinforced Bulkheads, the Morphic Moat, Wards of Comfort,
Benny:And we have...
Gamemaster:the Armature Aided Workshop and the Siphon Array a siphon array
Argyle:you All right
Benny:you What is all this bold
Argyle:I'm ready to rest up.
Argyle:Do our zone of truth tomorrow.
Argyle:Talk to Radiant Arms.
Argyle:Grease our walls.
Argyle:Prepare.
Gamemaster:Word of truth is a fivey thing.
Argyle:Sorry, ring of truth.
Gamemaster:You're thinking of ring of truth.
Benny:Wait, did we spend anything or are we still at the 73?
Argyle:Yeah.
Gamemaster:It's completely different.
Argyle:We didn't spend anything.
Benny:Or did we throw anything in there?
Benny:Okay.
Argyle:All right.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:Y'all go to bed.
Gamemaster:You get the benefits of a rest.
Gamemaster:Nobody attacks you in your sleep.
Benny:Ah!
Argyle:woohoo
Gamemaster:You wake up the next day feeling refreshed.
Gamemaster:Ready to tackle life.
Argyle:yeah buddy
Gamemaster:What you doing?
Benny:Ah!
Argyle:bring a truth first or
Benny:Tackling life.
Gamemaster:Okay, you tackle life.
Argyle:yeah so it was those four questions we asked earlier basically just like
Benny:Yeah.
Argyle:everyone goes hello i'm going to try to protect the coalition i will not try to cause harm to
Gamemaster:Okay, those are the questions you'd ask?
Argyle:the fellow coalition i currently do not have any other allegiances inside the coalition
Benny:I think it's fine.
Argyle:is there anything else
Gamemaster:Okay.
Argyle:yeah
Argyle:yeah to be honest with you i don't think they're going to be able to i think they'll very easily
Gamemaster:Are you including Anouk and Anaïs in the Ring of Truth?
Gamemaster:Okay.
Argyle:fake my DC, but it's more of like to show that everyone's equal, that we're not having
Gamemaster:Absolutely One second
Argyle:favoritism We all going to swear it too That more of that
Benny:Yeah Yeah
Gamemaster:What is your GC?
Gamemaster:26.
Argyle:26. And I'm going to cast it while everyone's in it, so then they'd have a minus two to deception.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:Absolutely.
Gamemaster:All righty.
Argyle:we'll just
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:Sorry.
Gamemaster:Three questions.
Gamemaster:The three questions are...
Gamemaster:I've forgotten.
Argyle:just you're going to swear that you're going to
Argyle:try to protect the heart of the coalition and everyone in it
Gamemaster:Okay.
Argyle:you will not try to cause any harm to anyone here
Gamemaster:Okay.
Argyle:and you do not have any other allegiances to any other groups
Gamemaster:Okay.
Argyle:that would supersede the coalition.
Gamemaster:That's all is one promise?
Anzu:The three tenants.
Argyle:No, I think it's just, it lasts for 10 minutes,
Argyle:so everyone can just go through and just say those,
Gamemaster:So you're going to have them say it one at a time to see if they lie on any of the three of them.
Argyle:like, ah, blah, blah, blah.
Argyle:Yeah.
Argyle:Yeah.
Gamemaster:Okay, absolutely.
Anzu:The three tenants.
Argyle:Yes, three 10 minutes.
Gamemaster:The three tenets.
Gamemaster:Sure.
Gamemaster:God, why do I keep forgetting this?
Gamemaster:You literally just said it twice.
Gamemaster:Protect everything.
Benny:Yeah.
Gamemaster:Don't harm, no alliances.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:First, going through Alkahest Freight.
Gamemaster:That's easy.
Gamemaster:No rolls necessary.
Gamemaster:They make the pledge.
Gamemaster:The bell dings three times for each person.
Gamemaster:Easy peasy.
Gamemaster:Solari Sub-surface.
Gamemaster:Salvado?
Gamemaster:All three.
Gamemaster:Ding, ding, ding.
Gamemaster:He's telling the truth.
Gamemaster:Both of the lackeys make the promise.
Gamemaster:The bell dings on um will not attempt harm and no other alliances The bell does not ding on will protect the coalition with their life
Anzu:you I not sure they can so I think that acceptable
Gamemaster:They say it. It just doesn't ding.
Gamemaster:They're lying.
Gamemaster:They're not going to lay down their lives for this thing.
Gamemaster:They're cowards.
Gamemaster:If they see the chance for them to get out
Gamemaster:and everybody else is dying,
Gamemaster:they will take that.
Benny:Can we convince them?
Gamemaster:I don't know if you wanted to do anything about that, but that does happen.
Argyle:That's not great.
Anzu:I think
Gamemaster:You can try. You can attempt a diplomacy check.
Gamemaster:It's an uphill battle here.
Anzu:my feeling folks is that that's more of a, we can work on them over time to really get
Argyle:Yeah, yeah.
Anzu:buy-in.
Anzu:They're not going to change their minds today.
Benny:Why don't we defer to the rest of the coalition?
Benny:We're getting all these other people to sign up with their life.
Gamemaster:Oh, um, what does, like, what does Alkahest Freight think about that?
Argyle:Yeah.
Benny:What do they think about this guy?
Argyle:Yeah.
Argyle:What do they think about it?
Argyle:Everyone else.
Argyle:Yeah.
Gamemaster:Um, well, so, Salvado at Solari, uh, is not surprised.
Argyle:Yeah.
Gamemaster:These guys were not fighters.
Gamemaster:They were not brought here to fight.
Argyle:Yeah.
Gamemaster:Um, so that's, that's, like, eh.
Gamemaster:similarly
Gamemaster:the people in Alkahazt Freight
Gamemaster:are not fighters either
Argyle:But they swear to do it.
Gamemaster:like Alkahazt Freight
Gamemaster:as they
Gamemaster:swore they'd do it
Gamemaster:they're in it together
Gamemaster:I think they're probably like
Gamemaster:they've seen the behavior
Gamemaster:of these people they're not happy about it
Gamemaster:but it's not surprising
Gamemaster:like
Gamemaster:That's the answer.
Gamemaster:I don't think Alkahest Freight would attempt to try and, like, pressure them into trying
Argyle:Mm-hmm.
Benny:Okay.
Gamemaster:to lay down their life. I don't think that anybody in the Elkist Freight would find that
Argyle:Yeah.
Gamemaster:a useful endeavor.
Benny:Yeah.
Argyle:All right.
Argyle:I just asked a follow-up question.
Argyle:Would you sell the group out to another group?
Gamemaster:No.
Gamemaster:Ding.
Argyle:That means you're telling the truth?
Gamemaster:The ding does mean they're telling the truth.
Argyle:No, that's fine with me.
Gamemaster:It's a ring of truth.
Gamemaster:I know that's not why it's called a ring, but it does ring when they speak the truth.
Argyle:Okay, yeah, yeah.
Gamemaster:Finally, Anouk and Anaïs will protect the Coalition with their life.
Gamemaster:Ding won't harm anybody in the Coalition.
Gamemaster:No, Ding.
Gamemaster:They say that they're not going to promise that.
Gamemaster:Have no alliances with people outside of the Coalition.
Gamemaster:They also do not promise that.
Benny:Yeah, competing interest here.
Gamemaster:And I will say, you know we owe allegiance to somebody who is not part of this coalition.
Argyle:I expect this.
Anzu:you think
Gamemaster:To claim otherwise, the bell would ding and you would know us to be liars.
Gamemaster:It is not worth your time.
Anzu:we're looking for more of like
Anzu:versus the other folks
Anzu:on the other orgs
Argyle:Yeah.
Gamemaster:And I will say, frankly, if Renge tells us we have to abandon all of you to join up with
Benny:That is not great.
Argyle:that's not great
Anzu:That's fair.
Gamemaster:another organization, we will do so.
Gamemaster:We are bound to her before we are bound to you.
Argyle:I look at
Gamemaster:I don't believe this is something she would do, but this is...
Benny:I not sure
Gamemaster:First and foremost, we are hers before we are yours.
Argyle:the other guys in the group and be like they pretty powerful I don know I not kicking them out but I just wanted to make it seem like the other group members
Gamemaster:Thank you Sorry Anouk will say if the judge came down to you this eve and told you you needed to
Argyle:like, you guys could kind of
Gamemaster:abandon this group because they were no good and you had to join up with them I
Gamemaster:don't know I turn me in heavy because they are the true followers of the
Argyle:The judge would never tell me something preposterous like that.
Gamemaster:judge or something like that would you do so
Gamemaster:okay well the it is
Argyle:I would never abandon my allies in my word.
Argyle:And the judge sent me on this case.
Argyle:They put me specifically here to hold out.
Gamemaster:It is within the realm of possibility, which means it could and will someday happen, I
Argyle:I'm just very confident that he's on the right path.
Argyle:He's just like, I will not tolerate that.
Benny:Nice.
Argyle:Duly noted.
Johnny:We did it.
Gamemaster:imagine.
Gamemaster:Everything happens eventually.
Gamemaster:But, um, fine.
Gamemaster:That's all I am saying.
Gamemaster:We are not against you, Ding.
Gamemaster:That's as far as we go.
Benny:we're good people
Argyle:well I will say
Gamemaster:You're good people.
Gamemaster:There's probably a ding for that.
Argyle:well I don't
Benny:now when we kill the Solari people
Argyle:well I will now also
Benny:that aren't Salvado
Benny:we'll become neutral
Argyle:Argyle will also say
Benny:so
Argyle:having seen what you guys can do
Argyle:I would not want to kick you out and you go to a different group
Gamemaster:And I will say, if nothing else, we have easy access to workshop and gunpowder here.
Argyle:and it'll be like a ding
Argyle:he's saying that mostly for everyone else
Argyle:just be like
Argyle:dang
Argyle:alright I cancel the wing of truth
Gamemaster:So we are incentivized to stay Anything else you like to ask
Benny:Can we discuss upgrades?
Gamemaster:while you have everybody in your ring of truth?
Argyle:I don't want everyone to start grilling each other
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:The bell fades from existence.
Gamemaster:Thanks.
Benny:The tithe.
Argyle:uh
Argyle:well
Argyle:you guys are trying to get Radiant Arms first.
Benny:Alright.
Gamemaster:Oh yeah, you have oil-slicked walls, the ritual.
Johnny:Yeah.
Argyle:Right?
Argyle:Argyle, while you're trying to convince Radiant Arms,
Johnny:Yeah.
Argyle:is going to start casting the
Argyle:spell to slick the walls.
Benny:Slick the walls with
Benny:oil.
Johnny:All right.
Johnny:Are we going to talk to rating arms?
Gamemaster:It takes eight hours to cast this?
Benny:Yeah.
Benny:this guy's just
Argyle:Okay.
Johnny:That's crazy.
Argyle:Yeah.
Benny:he's just got a mop and a bucket of oil
Johnny:There's no ritual in just him painting the wall.
Benny:just throwing it up on the wall
Benny:it's the full day's work
Argyle:Well, you need
Argyle:warfare lore for it.
Johnny:What?
Benny:it's the full day's work
Argyle:So Argyle's like,
Argyle:what if they try to run over and
Johnny:So Argyle replaces everything with very slick marble, and then puts oil on all that.
Argyle:jump on this side of the wall? I gotta grease this.
Argyle:And he's like, what if they...
Gamemaster:Nope.
Gamemaster:it's a full day's work
Argyle:Yeah.
Johnny:That's only on Zoom.
Benny:it's just
Argyle:Yeah.
Gamemaster:just walking around the outer
Anzu:Oh, no.
Gamemaster:walls of your compound
Gamemaster:slathering it in oil
Gamemaster:I do
Gamemaster:you need a secondary caster
Gamemaster:you need
Benny:Anzu?
Argyle:Someone can do crafting.
Argyle:Alright, we'll do it.
Gamemaster:somebody else who's proficient
Gamemaster:in architecture, lore, or crafting
Gamemaster:to walk around with you
Gamemaster:and slather the
Johnny:that's only
Anzu:Oh, no.
Gamemaster:Olsen Oil.
Argyle:Do you guys want to do this next time?
Johnny:how long do the walls stay oily
Argyle:We can do this next tithe.
Gamemaster:A week Yeah this isn a ritual this is you just walking around with a
Benny:Oh, the bird's just outside.
Anzu:Uh All the magic of the ritual does is conjure the oil
Argyle:For a week We have to do it once per tithe effectively
Gamemaster:bucket of oil and a mop
Johnny:Spend five minutes actually doing magic.
Johnny:There's seven hours.
Benny:He's fucking sweating his ass off.
Benny:He's just got like a towel over his neck.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Argyle:All right, we go talk to Radarbs and then we'll slick the walls.
Anzu:Unbelievable.
Johnny:I'm talking to radio arms.
Benny:He's drinking water like this is hard work.
Benny:Our girl is over.
Benny:It's like it is hard work, but it's honest.
Benny:It's honest work we're doing here.
Anzu:We get four temporary hit points.
Argyle:I don't want to grab onto it.
Gamemaster:Okay, so you guys have your breakfast,
Gamemaster:you have your ring of truth,
Gamemaster:you debate the logistics of oiling your walls,
Gamemaster:and then you decide
Benny:Mm-hmm.
Argyle:Yeah.
Johnny:Yes.
Gamemaster:you do get four temporary hit points
Gamemaster:because you guys leveled up
Gamemaster:which is always fun
Gamemaster:and then you're heading over to Radiant Arms
Gamemaster:to talk to Y'shael and co.
Gamemaster:Correct?
Gamemaster:Absolutely.
Gamemaster:You walk on over
Gamemaster:it is as it was last time
Gamemaster:it is effectively
Gamemaster:like a brownstone
Gamemaster:that has had
Gamemaster:holes carved in it so that one can
Gamemaster:point firearms out of it
Gamemaster:on all sides
Gamemaster:the only real change here
Gamemaster:since the last time you were
Gamemaster:around is
Gamemaster:the
Gamemaster:the exterior
Gamemaster:of this
Gamemaster:brownstone has had walls
Gamemaster:built around it
Gamemaster:As well, it seems that there is some form of barbed wire placed along the exterior of the walls, except the barbed wire appears to be hooked
Argyle:Huh?
Gamemaster:into what looks like a speaker of some kind.
Argyle:Alarm.
Gamemaster:And atop the walls,
Gamemaster:there are what look to be
Gamemaster:two floating keystone-like crystals
Gamemaster:that are, as you walk onto the slice
Gamemaster:that is the Radiant Arms Fane,
Gamemaster:both crystals face you.
Gamemaster:They both turn to look at you
Gamemaster:and are tracking you as you walk along the area.
Benny:Neat.
Argyle:Does...
Anzu:are going to want to give this up.
Johnny:Yeah, I think.
Argyle:Yeah, wait, does this mean that there's two turrets?
Argyle:Or is that...
Gamemaster:That does mean that there are two turrets, yes.
Argyle:Yo, guys, their base is sick.
Benny:It's pretty dope.
Anzu:Okay, so they're the defense. We're good.
Argyle:No, it's not good.
Argyle:They could still roll our base.
Anzu:They'd have to get through these guys first, though.
Argyle:...
Gamemaster:Can I?
Argyle:No, they could just walk around them.
Johnny:I mean, it seems like they're already invested in this.
Argyle:They could just go.
Johnny:I don't know if we're going to be able to tell them,
Johnny:hey, come join our stuff.
Johnny:They got all this going on.
Argyle:Tell them they could have a.
Argyle:Johnny, this is on you.
Argyle:Tell them they can like, I don't know.
Argyle:They can have design preferences.
Argyle:We'll put holes in the walls.
Argyle:We'll make them slick.
Johnny:Josh, here's a question.
Gamemaster:yep
Johnny:if they combine with us and we combine their heart into ours do we get their upgrades
Gamemaster:no and also you can't
Argyle:Yeah By the way I took those goggles back though I sure you understand
Johnny:not combined if we just eat their heart we just get their upgrades
Gamemaster:combine their heart into yours
Gamemaster:yeah no
Gamemaster:no you kill the heart
Gamemaster:you get whatever energy is left in the heart
Gamemaster:and the Fane collapses
Gamemaster:sorry
Gamemaster:can I get a perception check
Gamemaster:as you guys walk up as well
Johnny:you 33
Argyle:Dirty!
Argyle:Son of a bitch.
Gamemaster:Okay, you're a little far off, so you don't have a great look,
Gamemaster:but you can kind of see past the Radiant Arms base to the one beyond it, the Pale Lantern Society base.
Gamemaster:You can't see all of it, but you can see at the very least that it appears to have walls around it,
Gamemaster:and it has a pretty tall antenna sticking up from the interior of the base.
Gamemaster:and you can see that the tip of the antenna appears to have a large radar dish on it
Argyle:that's probably the spoofing
Gamemaster:that does not match like what you have on your antenna. That seems to be an additional piece.
Argyle:or the parasitic
Argyle:not good not a good neighbor to have
Argyle:putting it that way use that
Argyle:use that as feedback
Argyle:because if they suddenly fuck him over they might have to
Argyle:pay an extra 20 and then their heart
Gamemaster:Hail Lantern Society.
Argyle:dies
Argyle:so use that um tell them we'll build them a courtyard and shooting range uh
Johnny:Yeah.
Argyle:and also tell them they can defend the base we'll go out and get the items for all of us
Johnny:And sorry, which was the group that was right next door to them?
Johnny:That's...
Johnny:All right.
Argyle:we'll be in one base so we'll protect don't don't do that we can do the excursions they don't have
Argyle:to, you know, sell them on that. Johnny, you really got to do this.
Gamemaster:Okay So you guys walk up to the front door and knock I assume to let them know that you there
Johnny:All right
Gamemaster:After a few moments, somebody opens the door.
Gamemaster:It is not Y'shael.
Gamemaster:It is, however, another android of obvious similar make.
Gamemaster:Humanoid in appearance, although it appears that they have a foregone skin-like appearance for just clear to the interior of the, like, from their arms and it also looks like their collar.
Gamemaster:This is male presenting, as best you can tell, although you don't know how androids work in that regard necessarily.
Gamemaster:He has three different firearms on him.
Gamemaster:He has a very large-looking hand cannon in a holster at his hip.
Gamemaster:He has what looks to be strapped to his back a long-barreled rifle of some kind.
Gamemaster:and you can see that
Gamemaster:the left arm of his
Gamemaster:has a barrel mounted on the underside of the arm
Argyle:Yeah.
Johnny:I'm Johnny.
Gamemaster:and when he opens the door
Gamemaster:it is pointed directly at you.
Gamemaster:After a second though
Gamemaster:he sees who you guys are
Gamemaster:and he'll say
Gamemaster:Oh, you're the folks that Ichel
Gamemaster:decided to team up with.
Gamemaster:I don't think we've actually met.
Argyle:our guy will cross
Gamemaster:come on in, nice to meet y'all
Gamemaster:I'm Oatsle
Gamemaster:absolutely hi buddy Absolutely Hi Benny Great to meet all of you Benny if you could do me a favor
Argyle:and he starts to say his whole title
Benny:I Benny Sure Why not
Anzu:I answer you Great to meet you
Gamemaster:I'm going to make you roll a medicine check here.
Anzu:Well, this guy's face name was
Gamemaster:I don't know what your modifier is, but that's the appropriate roll here.
Benny:Then.
Gamemaster:Utzil. U-T-Z-I-L. Ten.
Gamemaster:Okay, so a ten doesn't give you a lot of info.
Gamemaster:I think the only info that Benny gets off of a ten is...
Gamemaster:This guy's skin is clear. You can see inside.
Gamemaster:The interior of this man's arms, at the very least, is pretty mechanical in nature.
Gamemaster:like you can see that instead of
Gamemaster:bones and muscle
Gamemaster:there is something synthetic
Gamemaster:and it almost looks fabric-like
Gamemaster:to take the place of muscles and tendons
Gamemaster:and some kind of metal like
Gamemaster:titanium
Gamemaster:with a
Gamemaster:10 all you get
Gamemaster:is that strikes you
Gamemaster:as different to you
Gamemaster:still clearly an android
Gamemaster:of some kind but not the same category
Gamemaster:if that makes sense.
Gamemaster:But beyond that, I don't think you
Gamemaster:like putting much more information there.
Benny:Fair enough.
Argyle:Right before...
Gamemaster:Either way?
Argyle:Sorry. I would like to have cast
Gamemaster:Yep.
Argyle:Heroism on Johnny right before we go in.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Argyle:Yeah, that's it.
Gamemaster:Absolutely.
Gamemaster:For the next ten minutes, you have a plus one
Gamemaster:status bonus to attack rolls, perception checks,
Gamemaster:saving throws, and skill checks.
Gamemaster:That's fun.
Gamemaster:You can
Gamemaster:attack this man easier
Gamemaster:if that was your goal. I assume that's why
Argyle:You can skill checks.
Gamemaster:you gave him heroism. No, it's
Argyle:Skill checks.
Gamemaster:for attacking. It's clearly
Gamemaster:because Argyle wanted you to
Gamemaster:attack him.
Gamemaster:It's a little gesture you into the living room of this brownstone and say, can I get
Argyle:I mean, we could just rip the heart out.
Johnny:It's okay. I'm so prepared for this, guys.
Argyle:okay
Johnny:Knock on wood.
Gamemaster:you guys anything?
Gamemaster:Tea?
Gamemaster:Coffee?
Gamemaster:We don't have any juice, but I could, there's some grass outside, I could get you like a
Gamemaster:wheatgrass smoothie.
Gamemaster:If that's something you're interested in.
Argyle:i'm okay i just had breakfast thank you though
Johnny:Nine.
Benny:I'm good.
Gamemaster:So, um, yeah, sorry.
Johnny:Yeah, thank you.
Argyle:Can I insight check that?
Johnny:It's very nice.
Johnny:Very plenty.
Johnny:We just wanted to talk to you guys.
Gamemaster:Uh, no, she is out at the moment, I'm afraid.
Johnny:Is a shell around as well?
Gamemaster:Uh, running a few errands.
Gamemaster:But, uh, listen, anything you would bring to her, you could bring to me.
Johnny:Oh, do you know when she'll be back?
Gamemaster:Or a group.
Gamemaster:Yeah, you absolutely can.
Gamemaster:you can rule perception
Gamemaster:sense some motives
Argyle:Uh.
Argyle:Dun dun dun dun.
Argyle:33.
Gamemaster:33
Gamemaster:he seems to be
Gamemaster:forthcoming with you
Argyle:Cool.
Gamemaster:But he will say, yeah, anything you would ask her, I'm happy to discuss it.
Johnny:Josh, I'm going to do several things right now.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Johnny:First, I'm going to use a new feat that I retrained into at this level called Melodious Spell.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Johnny:which gives let me see if I have this did I drop this It allows me to the next action I use to cast a spell it gains the subtle trait which
Gamemaster:Yeah.
Johnny:I believe hides all stuff, right?
Gamemaster:Yeah.
Gamemaster:So.
Gamemaster:Obviously I'm not going to do it.
Gamemaster:Because that's stupid.
Gamemaster:But this has the concentrate and manipulate trait and not the subtle trait.
Johnny:That's wild.
Gamemaster:And I think rules as written is not subtle.
Gamemaster:But that's dumb.
Johnny:Great.
Gamemaster:That's dumb.
Gamemaster:So, yeah, absolutely.
Gamemaster:The, like, rules as intended by the looks of it that, yes, the spell shape makes it so that the next spell you cast doesn't, like, have any outward appearance that you're casting the spell.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Johnny:So I will first Melodious spell,
Johnny:then I will use my Mythic point
Johnny:to cast a new Mythic spell I picked up at this level
Johnny:called Perceive the Threads of Fate.
Johnny:I'm going to take a very long moment to look like I'm hyping myself up as I do all of this.
Johnny:No one else sees this as I cast this, though.
Johnny:Above everyone's heads, there's almost like a cursor, and a moment before anything happens,
Gamemaster:Okay.
Argyle:Oh my god.
Johnny:it's almost like a typewriter typing out exactly what's going to happen as I perceive the Threads of Fate.
Johnny:I will then sustain it, and I'm going to make this a shameless request.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Johnny:A lot of stuff at once.
Gamemaster:make the shameless request with advantage
Argyle:You thought Lev was bad.
Argyle:Don forget your plus one status bonus
Anzu:Bard stuff
Johnny:We back to 5e everybody Hard stuff
Johnny:We think...
Johnny:And my plus one status.
Johnny:We think is of the utmost importance.
Johnny:I know Rhaedon Arms has been on the fence about this,
Johnny:but we think it is absolutely necessary for you to come and join us
Johnny:at our headquarters and consolidate our forces. We think it is for everyone's best interests that you
Johnny:allow us to subsume your heart. We have recently delved into the heart of this strider and we found
Johnny:that there are already nefarious forces we know are directly connected to Grayson infiltrated
Johnny:this strider. They're in other locations. They have extra representatives on board who are not
Johnny:hang tithes. We need to consolidate our forces at once. We know that you have a few things,
Johnny:but we are more than happy to adjust whatever is needed to make you comfortable as our place. But
Argyle:I'll mention telepathically.
Johnny:I cannot overstate how necessary it is that we all are in one central location, working together,
Johnny:making everything as strong as possible.
Argyle:Mention the spoofing array and that they can defend and will do the dangerous parts.
Johnny:In addition, we recently saw that your neighbor, the, was it Necrolog? Pale Lantern. Your neighbor, the Pale Lantern Society, has the spoofing array, which we can only assume means that they will be targeting you as you're the closest.
Gamemaster:Uh, okay, Lantern.
Johnny:and let's be frank, you guys are very scary.
Johnny:Big guns. You guys are the big guns, per se.
Johnny:If you stay here, you'll most likely be facing
Johnny:an additional 10, 15, possibly 20 in tithe.
Johnny:If we can consolidate all of us together and work together,
Johnny:we can overcome that and maybe redirect their ire towards someone else
Gamemaster:Roll the diplomacy check
Argyle:And you can defend the fort and we stay safe No we do the dangerous parts
Johnny:You can defend the fort and we'll go out and do all the dangerous stuff.
Johnny:We're more than happy to go dungeon delving.
Johnny:It's really nice having the jump back thing.
Gamemaster:Roll the diplomacy check.
Argyle:We're back, baby.
Gamemaster:You're making a request.
Johnny:We're so back!
Johnny:Uh, I'm gonna roll this...
Johnny:I'm gonna roll this in dice because I'm still level 7 on...
Johnny:on this guy.
Gamemaster:bit flying
Argyle:And you have a mythic point?
Johnny:Okay, so I have to make sure this is all good.
Johnny:So I have a base 19 in diplomacy.
Johnny:That's 20 in diplomacy, and I roll this twice.
Johnny:And if I fail, this is a shameless request, so
Johnny:they don't get mad.
Johnny:No, I spent it to do Perceive the Threads of Fate.
Argyle:Ah, that's fair.
Johnny:I should have summoned Mythic Tower before this.
Johnny:damn it, I'll know for next time.
Benny:All right.
Gamemaster:I just because I think it's fun I am going to point out that summon mythic power has neither
Argyle:so you could do it
Johnny:First one.
Johnny:I'm going to do these individually
Johnny:for the tension.
Gamemaster:the manipulate nor concentrate traits and is not a spell so it does not have an outward effect to do
Argyle:so you could do it
Gamemaster:you don't have to
Johnny:I will,
Argyle:no but those are good
Johnny:As I'm saying this, I will summon Mythic Power as the whole action.
Gamemaster:but
Gamemaster:okay
Johnny:My first one was a 35.
Johnny:My second is...
Johnny:Not as good, a 23.
Johnny:Actually, Josh, have I failed this skill check?
Gamemaster:with the 23
Gamemaster:yeah
Johnny:No, with a 35.
Gamemaster:do I have to tell you
Johnny:Yes, for let's try that again.
Gamemaster:I think you're fine, but one second.
Argyle:so you have you first of all you have shameless requests so even if you do fail it's like
Johnny:I have a lot of redundancies.
Gamemaster:Let me just double check.
Argyle:but you can also just try again
Gamemaster:Yeah.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:With a 35, it is not a failure or a critical failure.
Gamemaster:Okay, Atul will say, okay, let me just, just because I'm gonna, just to make sure I have all my ducks in a row.
Argyle:Yeah, it's good.
Johnny:Okay. I think I'll stick with success. I don't want to tempt you.
Gamemaster:you want us to effectively abandon this pretty well defended upgraded fort that
Johnny:R Fort, it'd be R Fort.
Gamemaster:we have so we can come live with you and defend your less well protected fort
Gamemaster:Sure. We're crowded, though. And the benefit being not much different from what we're already
Gamemaster:currently getting from our alliance, with the exception of we're less likely to have
Argyle:Well, we can also upgrade our fort to...
Anzu:We trying to We trying to be very forward thinking here You know what could go wrong down the line
Johnny:Strength in numbers.
Gamemaster:to deal with specifically spies in the Pale Lantern Society because they're right next
Gamemaster:Listen, that's just a crazy ask.
Argyle:We've upgraded since you last been there.
Argyle:We have a moat.
Argyle:We can add some turrets if you want, some alarms if you want.
Gamemaster:I mean sorry
Argyle:Okay Thank you and another thing is worth mentioning is that we we are going to actively be leaving the
Anzu:and what makes our group the strongest the longest.
Gamemaster:That's a fair point.
Argyle:strider to get more magic energy and we will be fortifying our heart throughout
Argyle:if you stay here, you are going to have to manage that yourself,
Gamemaster:Okay, listen, listen.
Johnny:If you made the nine and not cutting them, there are tinkerers.
Argyle:which is riskier.
Gamemaster:You guys have a workshop, right?
Gamemaster:Okay.
Argyle:Yeah.
Gamemaster:You planning on making more upgrades?
Argyle:Yeah.
Argyle:Yeah.
Gamemaster:Can you give us...
Gamemaster:Can you give us two of the rooms you would get for two upgrades you make?
Argyle:Sorry, what's the request?
Johnny:In telepathically.
Johnny:Yeah, sure.
Johnny:I don't see the issue.
Johnny:They want two of the rooms we would get from upgrades.
Argyle:What do they want?
Argyle:Yeah.
Argyle:We can, if they join and we burn my shield,
Argyle:that'll give us nine plus.
Gamemaster:I mean, we'd like the next tune.
Argyle:we can just pop out
Argyle:alarm wards
Benny:Is there nothing transferable from property to property?
Argyle:oh give us 11
Argyle:we can pop out alarm wards if we want
Argyle:if we sacrifice the
Argyle:well how soon do they need the rooms
Argyle:just the next two
Argyle:yeah
Gamemaster:We'd like it to be sooner rather than later, because we'd be giving up our stuff.
Argyle:100%
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:you kill the heart you can take some of the energy out of it But you don get the energy from the spent upgrades you only get
Argyle:Yeah Yeah I fine
Benny:I guess DM question.
Benny:See I see
Gamemaster:whatever energy is left in the heart.
Argyle:I don't even know what we would make the next two rooms.
Gamemaster:Halved.
Argyle:I'm fine giving it to them.
Gamemaster:And then he'll say, okay, can you also
Gamemaster:help us with some experimentation that we're doing.
Argyle:What does that mean?
Argyle:Hmm.
Gamemaster:I'm sure you guys recall,
Gamemaster:you're the ones who gifted it.
Gamemaster:Ichel has been more than a little obsessed with that firearm.
Gamemaster:They hand it over with the liquid and stuff.
Gamemaster:Now we're looking to reverse engineer it.
Gamemaster:Just regular engineer it.
Gamemaster:All manner in the middle.
Gamemaster:And we need some, like, rarer materials that, for whatever reason,
Gamemaster:our servant guy, who's become a bit more surly of late, won't help us procure.
Gamemaster:If, because you said you're going out to get magic items and stuff,
Gamemaster:if I give you, like, a laundry list of things that we would need to continue our investigation,
Gamemaster:We make sure to procure some for us.
Benny:also goes
Argyle:yeah
Anzu:I think we would certainly try our best.
Argyle:and to be honest
Anzu:We don't know exactly what we're going to see out there, but we could put in an effort.
Argyle:with you
Benny:goes without saying that things would go to the tithe first because for survival but of course
Argyle:and to be honest with you guys
Gamemaster:Sure, but after that.
Argyle:if you're out
Argyle:protecting the heart if you're protecting the heart
Gamemaster:Thank you All right that seems fine with me
Argyle:when we go out I want you guys to have laser weapons I be very happy if you guys got laser weapons
Johnny:you I go in for a handshake
Gamemaster:Line up a shake on it.
Gamemaster:It's a little stick out his hand as well.
Gamemaster:Shake yours.
Gamemaster:that moment, uh, the door, the front door will open, and you'll see Ichel walk in with, like,
Argyle:this son of a bitch
Gamemaster:literally groceries in a bag. When he said that she went out for errands, he was being serious.
Gamemaster:Um, she literally went out for errands. Uh, and as soon as she walks in, Atul will say,
Gamemaster:uh, Ichel, these guys just totally agreed to take over all of our burns and stuff,
Gamemaster:and all we gotta do is shoot people who show up at their base. Uh,
Gamemaster:um and Ichel will be like okay great uh so what are we moving out
Gamemaster:Absolutely.
Argyle:you know what I'm happy
Argyle:I don't want them to resent us
Benny:I
Johnny:All right, let's pick their heart and get out of here.
Argyle:honestly I kind of want them to have two rooms
Argyle:I lost ideas
Argyle:I was like I guess we could make a courtyard
Argyle:I don't know what else we would need
Argyle:an aquarium room I don't know man
Argyle:should we go get our truck
Johnny:I say telepathically.
Gamemaster:Absolutely.
Gamemaster:If you want...
Gamemaster:but still we'll we'll point you towards um towards final caliber their heart
Benny:he'll crack his knuckles and his fingers.
Gamemaster:uh you had seen it once before when you when you had originally hooked up them into your skin
Argyle:Do you guys want to pack up first?
Benny:Oh.
Gamemaster:network um he shall will say we don't have much to pack up honestly i've been working out of our van
Gamemaster:because that's where most of our tools and stuff are anyway
Gamemaster:and we don't have a room
Gamemaster:for gunsmithing
Benny:Oh.
Gamemaster:and the like. Gunsmithery?
Gamemaster:There's definitely
Argyle:Oh, so they don't have a workshop.
Gamemaster:a term for that.
Argyle:They just spent it on turrets.
Argyle:Amazing.
Gamemaster:Yeah.
Gamemaster:Um...
Gamemaster:But they'll say, listen, you can, Final Calibur's over there, and you'll see that their heart is literally a cardboard box filled with bullets.
Johnny:.
Gamemaster:And you're finding the area in the heart that you have to pluck out is like literally rummaging through for a particular like large caliber bullet that is the weak spot in this particular heart.
Gamemaster:the whole time you're doing it
Gamemaster:the bullets are
Gamemaster:rattling and you can hear this whistling
Benny:It just
Argyle:Is there...
Johnny:I guess.
Gamemaster:sound coming out of it saying
Gamemaster:no don't kill me no
Gamemaster:but it can't actually do anything to stop you
Argyle:Is there another person in the group that we haven't jotted with?
Argyle:There's three, right?
Johnny:Okay.
Gamemaster:yes
Gamemaster:there are three people
Argyle:I assume they're here.
Gamemaster:and then
Argyle:That we're not just about to, like, rip it out from under them.
Johnny:Okay.
Gamemaster:the house collapses on them
Gamemaster:and they die
Argyle:And Argyle's getting out of the faint.
Gamemaster:absolutely
Benny:they just fall from like the second
Argyle:Argyle's seen this.
Argyle:He's going to let Benny do it.
Argyle:He's going to stand outside.
Gamemaster:so I you will also call down
Benny:the second floor with a blanket on
Benny:like oh
Benny:grass
Gamemaster:Pishan which is the
Gamemaster:third member of the group
Gamemaster:who is similarly
Gamemaster:an android although
Gamemaster:this one appears to be
Gamemaster:dwarven in
Gamemaster:in general height and stature,
Gamemaster:although similarly, same as the other two,
Gamemaster:has like pieces of their skin
Gamemaster:have been left to be clear
Gamemaster:instead of skin approximate.
Gamemaster:But yeah, once everybody's successfully cleared out,
Gamemaster:you can go in.
Gamemaster:At this point, you're not in a rush.
Gamemaster:The box is not actually very far from the entrance.
Gamemaster:So once everybody else has cleared out,
Gamemaster:one of you can go and pluck the last bit of this heart here,
Gamemaster:cause the collapse of the Fane.
Gamemaster:and make your way outside with your little bullet that represents however much energy or halved energy that they have left in this heart when you yank it
Argyle:you Yeah we didn even look it up
Johnny:you I in the next
Argyle:We just took it.
Argyle:All right.
Gamemaster:Correct.
Argyle:Yeah, let's head back.
Argyle:All right.
Argyle:All right.
Argyle:All right.
Argyle:All right.
Argyle:All right.
Gamemaster:Absolutely.
Argyle:All right.
Gamemaster:You head back.
Gamemaster:The three of them hop in their van.
Gamemaster:You can see the interior of the van as you walk by.
Gamemaster:Um, the, it is a, like, a truck.
Argyle:Okay.
Gamemaster:It's not an 18-wheeler.
Gamemaster:I don't know what you call, like, like a U-Haul, effectively.
Gamemaster:Um, but the inside, you can see that one of the walls of the inside is this big pegboard,
Gamemaster:uh, that they have a number of hooks on that firearms and, and firearm pieces and stuff
Gamemaster:are hanging on.
Gamemaster:And there's a makeshift workshop that's been built inside there.
Gamemaster:but they will load up whatever they have left
Argyle:Ooh.
Johnny:records
Gamemaster:and then follow you to your base
Gamemaster:as you leave the third faction area desolate
Gamemaster:from your third heartbreaker attempt.
Gamemaster:I guess fourth.
Gamemaster:This is the fourth heart that you've yoinked from.
Gamemaster:And you have a little bullet worth 30 energy in your hand.
Johnny:nice
Benny:Eerie, we bring gifts to feast.
Argyle:here he's gonna be like
Argyle:what is what who's the ghost
Argyle:that uh that eats other ghosts
Argyle:gambit guys
Benny:Casper?
Argyle:yeah
Argyle:yeah from destiny i don't know what it is
Argyle:from destiny the um
Gamemaster:The primeval?
Argyle:no
Argyle:who's the gambit guys ghost
Gamemaster:Oh, oh, I don't remember.
Argyle:that eats other ghosts that he's scared of
Benny:Oh.
Argyle:yeah
Gamemaster:I think blue or something.
Argyle:um
Gamemaster:I know what you're talking about.
Gamemaster:Either way let me see This is the fourth heart plus the void heart Can somebody roll a d20 for me flat
Benny:you Yes
Argyle:you No it going to ascend
Anzu:you Oh it will explode
Benny:Yes.
Anzu:We've lost.
Argyle:It's different.
Benny:10.
Gamemaster:Ten. Okay.
Gamemaster:Eerie will say, oh goody.
Gamemaster:I hunger.
Argyle:Oh no.
Benny:Okay, here you go.
Benny:103
Gamemaster:he will eat it up and to get 30 more energy.
Argyle:Okay.
Johnny:Wait, how much was that one worth?
Gamemaster:He'll say, so,
Gamemaster:does she have any, like, upgrades and stuff
Gamemaster:you want to do with all the stuff you're feeding into me?
Johnny:How much was that heart worth?
Argyle:Okay.
Gamemaster:It was worth 30.
Johnny:Sorry.
Gamemaster:There were 60 in the heart, and then you yoinked it,
Johnny:Oh.
Johnny:I missed that part.
Gamemaster:so you got 30 out of it.
Johnny:Sorry.
Argyle:Okay.
Argyle:So we're at 103?
Argyle:102?
Argyle:103.
Benny:Oh.
Gamemaster:Oh, well actually it would have been worth 32.
Argyle:great
Anzu:Aha!
Johnny:Nice.
Argyle:105
Gamemaster:Because you have the you have the siphon.
Argyle:really happy we bought that thing
Gamemaster:I think you guys made the objectively correct decision to make it your first purchase.
Argyle:mm-hmm
Argyle:we'll also signal to
Argyle:the other two factions
Argyle:whenever they want their four
Argyle:they can come and get it
Argyle:and we'll give it to them at the door
Gamemaster:Okay, absolutely. Okay.
Argyle:we're not
Argyle:yep
Gamemaster:you let them know
Anzu:I have these two essentially spell scroll precursors that should cover our agreement.
Gamemaster:Hildebrandt
Gamemaster:I think Pava would probably just walk over
Gamemaster:you guys are allies
Gamemaster:he'd say hi
Gamemaster:Prime Meridian would send someone
Gamemaster:like just you know a peon
Gamemaster:to go over
Gamemaster:pick it up and walk it back
Gamemaster:Pava will say
Gamemaster:alright I appreciate it um are the spells inside any good
Anzu:You have to like develop it for it to become a spell
Anzu:Eh, so-so from my opinion.
Anzu:No problem.
Gamemaster:Nah, that's fine, I'll just feed it.
Gamemaster:Appreciate your help.
Gamemaster:Uh, yeah.
Anzu:Everything okay over there for now?
Gamemaster:You guys got your mapping stuff set up?
Gamemaster:You getting lucky?
Gamemaster:Because I'm ready to go scouting.
Benny:But cool.
Gamemaster:you think
Argyle:have a plane
Johnny:You're kind of cool.
Argyle:the other uh the other airframe company did
Gamemaster:that we spent
Gamemaster:the limited space we had in our
Gamemaster:vehicles to bring
Gamemaster:a plane onto the Strider
Gamemaster:yeah we're not gonna be
Argyle:oh by the way
Johnny:Hello.
Gamemaster:fucking showed up by Ternion and of course we have a
Gamemaster:plane
Gamemaster:sorry
Argyle:by the way
Argyle:the verdant people said they'd be allies
Benny:Oh.
Anzu:Right.
Argyle:if you wanted to be allies but like if you don't
Argyle:want to be allies we're fine not being allies
Argyle:yeah
Gamemaster:verdant holdings
Gamemaster:the group that
Gamemaster:firebombed us
Argyle:that's crazy
Gamemaster:at our last all
Gamemaster:hollows eve party
Gamemaster:yeah no it was it was a whole thing we had a group we had a bunch of us we were having a party
Argyle:never mind
Benny:Oh.
Argyle:I take it all back
Argyle:no yeah
Argyle:wow
Argyle:wow
Gamemaster:they fully snuck in disguised as some of us took a bunch of us hostage poured acid
Gamemaster:all over the floors uh and then broke into a vault in the middle of the city
Argyle:did you guys stop him
Gamemaster:I think someone did. Like some people. Like obviously I didn't.
Argyle:that's sick
Argyle:yeah
Gamemaster:I appreciate it. With them? I think just normal corporate espionage stuff. Nothing
Argyle:the other plane people also don't like you
Argyle:but that's fine with us because we like you
Argyle:so what did they what happened there
Argyle:did they
Argyle:yeah
Benny:Yeah.
Argyle:yeah
Gamemaster:nothing in particular comes to mind.
Argyle:Did you...
Argyle:I think they said you were shooting their planes out of the sky.
Argyle:And I'm not judging.
Argyle:I just want to know, if push comes to shove,
Argyle:can we expect some similar protection
Argyle:if they start flying one of their planes over here?
Gamemaster:We don't make military planes.
Argyle:Okay, all right.
Gamemaster:I don't know what they're talking about.
Argyle:Argyle is choosing
Gamemaster:We make consumer planes, and
Gamemaster:we don't equip our
Gamemaster:consumer planes with guns.
Argyle:to not sense motive
Benny:Sounds good.
Gamemaster:okay
Argyle:he doesn't want to know
Argyle:he starts
Gamemaster:absolutely
Argyle:and he's like nope no I don't want to
Gamemaster:I'll say
Argyle:I don't want to try to poker face this guy
Argyle:cool
Gamemaster:anyway thanks for the scrolls
Gamemaster:let me know when you guys are up and running
Argyle:sounds good
Gamemaster:and ready for me to
Gamemaster:do my due diligence
Gamemaster:do my part
Gamemaster:we'll scout ahead
Gamemaster:look for anywhere that has some good items for you
Gamemaster:All right, we'll keep on our toes.
Anzu:we have some stuff coming up,
Johnny:Bye.
Anzu:but it's not until after the tithe.
Anzu:So I think we're just kind of sitting tight for now.
Gamemaster:We'll head on back.
Anzu:Indeed.
Argyle:sounds good keep Anaïs out on the pale lanterns let us know if uh
Argyle:your border starts getting weird. We can always come and help out.
Gamemaster:Well, there's still radiant arms between us and them, but sure.
Argyle:Okay.
Argyle:I look at Johnny. Does he want to handle that?
Benny:Thank you story story
Gamemaster:game
Johnny:Sorry, I was answering an email. I missed this exchange.
Gamemaster:no I'm joking
Johnny:I'm sorry.
Argyle:Hilda Brett effectively just said,
Gamemaster:it's fine
Argyle:Well, don't worry. We don't have to worry about Pill Lantern Society.
Argyle:The radiant arms are between us.
Johnny:Oh, my apologies. I was answering an email for work.
Argyle:No worries.
Argyle:Yeah, you're welcome to move in here if you want.
Johnny:Yeah listen funny story about that They not anymore They recently agreed it would be best if they joined with us so they are moving in here
Gamemaster:you You moved the line of defense we had with the Pale Antrin Society out
Johnny:Well, you could also move in here if you want.
Gamemaster:So now where are your line of defense?
Gamemaster:Not happening, bud.
Argyle:Oh.
Gamemaster:I appreciate the offer. That's not happening.
Johnny:I look at the others.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:I think we have to rethink some of our defenses then.
Gamemaster:Thanks for the heads up.
Gamemaster:He'll start walking back.
Johnny:We – be careful wherever we go now that they don't send us somewhere extra dangerous.
Argyle:No, no, they're very much...
Benny:I don't think it's in their best interest to
Gamemaster:I like how you've decided your friends
Benny:eliminate the glue
Benny:holding three quarters of the strider together.
Argyle:They also very much will not be able to join the other alliance
Benny:There we go.
Argyle:because a lot of people don't like them, so...
Benny:True.
Argyle:We could give them the shield if we want to be extra nice.
Gamemaster:I like how you've decided your friends
Argyle:What?
Argyle:about bombing the other people yeah
Gamemaster:when he's saying, believe in it.
Benny:he did not answer the question
Gamemaster:Not looking into it at all.
Gamemaster:He could be telling the truth. You don't know.
Argyle:yeah
Gamemaster:Just in general.
Argyle:also though
Benny:we didn't even make planes with guns on it
Benny:there's more than one way to shoot down a plane
Benny:and it doesn't always involve another plane
Gamemaster:I don't know what you're talking about.
Argyle:I don't
Argyle:I don't really care if they shoot down
Argyle:the other planes as long as yeah yeah yeah
Gamemaster:That their business What That probably true
Benny:They dicks anyways
Johnny:We have a bigger issues now
Gamemaster:Either way, you've handed off your items to fulfill your pre-tithe requirements.
Gamemaster:What else are you doing?
Gamemaster:If anything, you guys could choose to just hang out.
Gamemaster:You've got plenty of energy to spare.
Johnny:I'd like to upgrade my drum of War with Anaïs and a nook.
Gamemaster:Absolutely.
Argyle:I'll cast oil slick walls.
Johnny:get that done
Gamemaster:I do just want to point this out.
Gamemaster:It's Onik.
Johnny:oh a nine onik
Gamemaster:Yeah, that's like a real name.
Gamemaster:I didn't make that one up.
Johnny:i believe you for some reason it just sat in my head it's always Anaïs and a knock
Gamemaster:It's how it's spelled.
Gamemaster:I get it.
Gamemaster:Absolutely.
Gamemaster:You want to up a drum of War.
Johnny:I do, it will drain me entirely though.
Gamemaster:Do you have the requisite funds?
Johnny:So this is all I got.
Johnny:Nice.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:You mark off 370 gold pieces,
Gamemaster:and the spell slots assume you're not doing anything else today.
Gamemaster:And tomorrow, you will have some greater drums of War.
Gamemaster:Sorry.
Gamemaster:All right, Drums of War, greater.
Benny:All right.
Argyle:What should we...
Johnny:Nice.
Johnny:I have three gold and four silver left.
Argyle:What should we...
Gamemaster:That's crazy.
Johnny:Drove the Warden has really good spells.
Gamemaster:Drums of War Major have tortoise in the hair.
Argyle:Dope.
Johnny:I just got Haste and Heroism with that item.
Argyle:Dope.
Argyle:Dope.
Gamemaster:Nice.
Argyle:What do we want to buy?
Argyle:Probably spend some money.
Benny:uh
Benny:some energy or some money because we don actually have that much um look at questions so we at 105 right now 52 11 i mean the the poly or the crushing route can also go on which is 52
Argyle:energy Energy We can put the hat in there
Argyle:and then the shield
Argyle:and we'll get 52 and 11.
Argyle:So we'll get 60.
Argyle:Yeah, 63.
Argyle:we gave that to
Benny:oh right right right
Gamemaster:All right, what's happening?
Argyle:yeah
Benny:wait is it 52 or would it be 5
Argyle:yeah
Argyle:if we
Argyle:no it's 500
Benny:it's not gold
Argyle:the other one's 500
Benny:right right right okay okay that makes sense
Argyle:so we could if we want to just get an easy room right now we can do alarm wards
Argyle:and then we can get or we can go straight to tide matrix
Benny:Let's see.
Benny:Characters resting the base cannot be flat-footed
Benny:during a surprise round if the base is under attack.
Benny:Stealth checks infiltrate, suffer a minus two penalty.
Benny:Minus two penalty is nice.
Benny:Do we just want to ask Radiant Arms what they want?
Argyle:yeah
Benny:Hey, we got somebody.
Benny:What are you thinking?
Argyle:what did they say
Benny:They're in defense, so...
Benny:so
Gamemaster:Oh, if you're asking them what they want, they would say,
Argyle:joshua
Anzu:Perfect.
Gamemaster:Y'shael will say,
Gamemaster:first thing you guys are missing is you don't have alarms.
Gamemaster:Somebody's going to sneak onto your base,
Gamemaster:and it doesn't matter if you've got defenses or not,
Gamemaster:if they can take their time getting around it,
Gamemaster:sneaking up behind you and slitting your throat.
Argyle:I'm Mark.
Gamemaster:Can't shoot something that you don't know is there.
Benny:alarm words it is
Benny:I believe this is at 133.
Gamemaster:Um, I mean, they will fully tell you to get a bunch of turrets.
Argyle:Do you have any other recommendations?
Anzu:All right.
Johnny:you give a shalom
Gamemaster:Like, the...
Gamemaster:They're gun people.
Argyle:But there are turrets now.
Argyle:There are turrets now.
Gamemaster:The answer is guns.
Gamemaster:They can shoot.
Gamemaster:More guns is better.
Gamemaster:Literally 100% of the times.
Gamemaster:Anytime that a shell has had a problem,
Gamemaster:and then they've introduced a gun,
Gamemaster:it solved the problem.
Anzu:133.
Johnny:You can call a math problem on a piece of paper.
Benny:I kind of like spoofing transmitter next.
Gamemaster:Listen, no more math problem.
Argyle:All right, so we'll just wait.
Gamemaster:Also probably no more desk, given the caliber of guns that they use.
Gamemaster:Absolutely.
Benny:Yeah.
Argyle:Sounds good.
Anzu:Yeah, I don't want to go down to 33 energy.
Benny:Why not?
Argyle:Yeah.
Anzu:It's just cut it way too close.
Benny:Actually, Josh,
Benny:Was that an intended mechanic that we can see what the tithe is going to be?
Gamemaster:Um, it's not a problem that you can see what the tithe is going to be, is the answer.
Gamemaster:Like, I legitimately didn't remember that I had told you that, but it's not an issue
Gamemaster:that you know it, so it's fine.
Benny:Okay.
Benny:Then in that case, what does it say now?
Benny:Because we doinked Radiant Arms.
Gamemaster:Um, yeah, one second.
Gamemaster:29.
Benny:Okay.
Anzu:Yeah, right.
Johnny:Great.
Argyle:Yeah, cool.
Benny:Okay.
Gamemaster:Oh wait, no, no, no, no. I apologize.
Gamemaster:It's still 27.
Gamemaster:They were already part of your coalition,
Benny:Oh.
Gamemaster:so you were already paying the tithe for them.
Argyle:Yes, yes, yes.
Anzu:We had joined with them, but not...
Gamemaster:So this...
Gamemaster:Yeah.
Anzu:Yeah.
Gamemaster:So it doesn't meaningfully affect the tithe in any way.
Argyle:Cool.
Argyle:That's even better so that primary reading is not going to be mad.
Argyle:I would rather if we could only keep one other ally I feel like the Scale is going to like us If we could only pick between Prime Meridian and Hildebrandt
Gamemaster:you Paavo
Johnny:you PrimeRedean is crazy
Argyle:honestly, I'd rather Prime Meridian.
Argyle:They're crazy.
Argyle:Also, worst case, I would rather we fight Hildebrandt next door
Argyle:than deal with whatever the hell is next to Prime Meridian.
Argyle:I don't like their neighbors.
Gamemaster:Paavo is standing outside your kitchen window
Gamemaster:crying hearing you say this
Argyle:What do
Johnny:You guys love guns.
Gamemaster:he didn't actually go home
Gamemaster:he was just hanging out
Gamemaster:okay
Gamemaster:absolutely
Gamemaster:oh it's a firing range
Argyle:What does the next room look like?
Gamemaster:absolutely
Argyle:Hey
Argyle:What's going to be the next room?
Gamemaster:yeah no next room
Johnny:They are gun robots.
Argyle:Do they have an idea?
Gamemaster:uh, Ichel, uh, like, brings out a set of blueprints.
Benny:How does
Argyle:yes
Anzu:Hell yeah.
Johnny:You guys all right?
Gamemaster:Um, as best you can tell looking at what she's showing you,
Gamemaster:the next room is going to be a distillery of some kind.
Argyle:I fucking love this
Anzu:Salvado's gonna love that.
Gamemaster:Salvado is cured.
Gamemaster:He's not an alcoholic anymore.
Gamemaster:He is ambivalent about that.
Argyle:I think this is magical liquid
Argyle:for their guns
Argyle:I'll cure him again
Anzu:I don't know.
Anzu:I'm smelling a relapse in his future.
Gamemaster:Onik. Onik.
Benny:Is it Anouk?
Argyle:I am
Anzu:No.
Benny:Anouk, Anouk, Anouk, Anouk.
Gamemaster:Onik.
Benny:How does Anouk and I feel?
Benny:How do Anouk and I feel about other people in the workshop?
Gamemaster:The answer is that it's totally fine,
Gamemaster:but they would like them to sign a waiver first.
Anzu:I feel like that could go both ways.
Benny:Okay.
Gamemaster:That yeah
Argyle:kind of scared that it going to they going to get along too well These are the crazy motherfuckers that put a bomb on a hammer They going to
Benny:I actually was thinking that
Anzu:Thank you I see that as an absolute win for us
Argyle:love these robots.
Argyle:Yeah.
Argyle:We got some
Argyle:honestly
Argyle:attackers might be more safe
Argyle:if we're home.
Argyle:If we leave the twins
Argyle:and the robots
Argyle:it might be worse for them
Benny:I like it.
Gamemaster:It is true that both the twins and what you've seen of Radiant Arms, it appears to be that
Anzu:They're going to look at each other and say, so we blow them up, right?
Argyle:yeah
Benny:so
Gamemaster:their first and perhaps only impulse is violence when presented with a problem.
Argyle:cool
Gamemaster:So...
Benny:benny's going to be putting in some hours at the range as well
Gamemaster:Absolutely. Yeah, so this first room that you give to them, it kind of runs alongside your existing base.
Gamemaster:Excuse me.
Gamemaster:The firing range is built to their specifications, because you're kind of just handing the free reign over to them.
Gamemaster:Standard general size in order to be able to get ranging on it.
Gamemaster:the only difference between this and a traditional
Anzu:Awesome.
Gamemaster:firing range which you guys would have
Benny:Thank you you Okay
Gamemaster:at least been exposed to given
Gamemaster:the firearm culture that there is in
Gamemaster:Calaria
Gamemaster:the only difference here is that
Gamemaster:instead of
Gamemaster:pieces of paper that you can
Gamemaster:use to target practice it is
Gamemaster:magically conjured
Gamemaster:humanoid stand-ins
Gamemaster:for proper practice
Gamemaster:but other than that it almost the same as what you expecting and it is very much for them testing their own prototypes which they still getting the hang of
Argyle:Okay.
Anzu:Thank you Bye
Johnny:Thank you There some bandolier but it all guns
Gamemaster:They still explode after one shot,
Gamemaster:but they're not fully banana-peeling the exterior barrel anymore.
Argyle:
Gamemaster:It's really more of a heating up and melting kind of problem.
Argyle:Okay.
Gamemaster:if you recall uh during the fight that you had in the ballroom uh ishell had three firearms on her
Johnny:They're just one shot.
Gamemaster:um at what was supposed to be generally a friendly thing because she used a different gun
Gamemaster:each round um that is kind of the the de facto way to use their firearms uh to the point that
Gamemaster:Actually, since they've moved in,
Gamemaster:you have a better exposure to radiant arms in general
Anzu:And of both of those things,
Gamemaster:and how this manufacturing process and stuff works.
Gamemaster:Can I get a crafting or an arcana check?
Gamemaster:Now that they're around and you can see some more of their process?
Gamemaster:It's your choice.
Anzu:Arcana's higher.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Anzu:We'll roll Arcana. Why not?
Anzu:Jeez.
Anzu:Mostly bad rolls for me today.
Anzu:I guess this is a decent time to mythic.
Gamemaster:Up to you.
Argyle:It was a crafting and what?
Anzu:Might as well.
Anzu:Oh, hold on.
Gamemaster:I'm holding.
Anzu:Please hold.
Gamemaster:I'm holding.
Anzu:Okay, great.
Anzu:All right.
Anzu:I mean...
Gamemaster:a natural one
Gamemaster:for a 22 total
Gamemaster:it was crafting and arcana
Argyle:what's the other one
Argyle:and what did you roll
Gamemaster:were the options
Gamemaster:He rolled a 22 natural 1 arcana.
Argyle:oof
Anzu:I rolled Arcana.
Argyle:is that with the mythic
Argyle:oh it is
Gamemaster:That's with the mythic.
Argyle:no
Argyle:well that's all we got
Gamemaster:Okay.
Argyle:because none of us can do our con art crafting
Gamemaster:Yeah.
Argyle:amazing
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:It's like these guys conjure guns out of thin air.
Gamemaster:There are so many of them.
Gamemaster:It's ridiculous.
Anzu:These robots possess magic of which I cannot comprehend.
Gamemaster:but they will spend the rest of the day
Gamemaster:kind of prowling
Gamemaster:the walls
Gamemaster:finding good places to set up
Gamemaster:embankments should they need to
Gamemaster:hold off a siege
Argyle:they can put holes in the waddle if they want
Gamemaster:at different parts of the base
Gamemaster:absolutely
Argyle:while I'm slicking it
Gamemaster:right okay you know what let's resolve
Argyle:I will leave those out for them
Argyle:yeah
Gamemaster:you're doing the oil slicked walls
Gamemaster:who's your secondary caster
Argyle:unless one of the twins
Gamemaster:it's Anzu
Gamemaster:if you want
Anzu:If she's willing to do it, I'd love to go chat with Yao instead.
Johnny:Oh, one of the twin.
Argyle:wants to help
Argyle:if they want to get in on that
Johnny:One of the twins probably is.
Gamemaster:if you want
Gamemaster:um
Gamemaster:Anouk
Gamemaster:Anouk is the crafting one
Gamemaster:she'll come out with you
Argyle:Yeah.
Gamemaster:uh
Gamemaster:uh
Gamemaster:and
Gamemaster:and do it
Gamemaster:instead of Anzu
Gamemaster:if Anzu doesn't want to slick some walls
Gamemaster:absolutely okay um so then
Argyle:All right, yeah.
Gamemaster:One second.
Argyle:30.
Argyle:Level base DC for this is 16, so I crit.
Gamemaster:I'm sure this is a non-issue, but I'm going to roll for her as well.
Gamemaster:I just need to figure out what her crafting is.
Argyle:Yeah, so we critically succeed.
Gamemaster:Thank you 42 Oh you can see that
Gamemaster:42.
Gamemaster:Also a critical success.
Argyle:yeah so
Gamemaster:Yeah, you critically succeeded slicking your oil walls.
Argyle:DC for athletic checks
Argyle:to climb the walls will increase by 10
Gamemaster:You're making a proper impenetrable fort up here on the top of the strider.
Argyle:and now we have the barbed wire on the top
Argyle:and we have a moat
Argyle:and then now we have little slits for the guns to go through
Argyle:feeling good
Argyle:yeah
Gamemaster:Okay.
Argyle:I think our fort is
Gamemaster:Absolutely.
Argyle:especially now that we
Argyle:had another room on top
Argyle:of this it's two
Argyle:squares bigger than
Gamemaster:You know, assuming Hilda Print hasn't added any upgrades since I last updated the Strider.
Anzu:Unless we want to wait for next week, but yes.
Argyle:uh hold the brands
Argyle:yeah
Gamemaster:Either way, this is okay. Oil-slicked walls.
Gamemaster:And then, Anzu, you said you wanted to go talk to Yao?
Argyle:I just, our guy's going to call phone home, give him an update.
Gamemaster:We can wait for next week since it is almost 11.
Gamemaster:If anybody had anything they wanted to do that is probably going to be quick, now's the time.
Johnny:Oh, I should probably do that too.
Gamemaster:Otherwise, we can pick this up next week.
Argyle:
Gamemaster:That's fine.
Johnny:I'll also call Red and give him an update, give him a full download on what's happening.
Argyle:I would love the Scale to...
Gamemaster:You gave them the full download.
Argyle:I was going to say, I would love the Scale to send soldiers,
Gamemaster:Sorry.
Argyle:but I know they're not.
Gamemaster:They definitely not But what I will have is two things Can I get just a D100 roll from Noah on behalf of Red
Argyle:But our But I
Gamemaster:And then separately, you're phoning home, you're talking to Dame Quay, I assume.
Gamemaster:um
Argyle:Yes.
Gamemaster:Dame Quay will say
Gamemaster:uh
Gamemaster:judging by the time that you guys
Argyle:What's the quorum again?
Gamemaster:are moving I think you're probably like
Gamemaster:halfway
Gamemaster:to the
Gamemaster:quorum
Gamemaster:I don't know if that's where you're actually going
Gamemaster:but
Gamemaster:worth keeping in mind
Gamemaster:it's where um
Gamemaster:Voice of Many was found
Gamemaster:well
Argyle:Oh.
Argyle:Is there going to be
Argyle:a good amount of items in there?
Argyle:I would expect.
Argyle:Okay.
Gamemaster:it's still
Argyle:Okay.
Argyle:That makes sense.
Gamemaster:pretty firmly
Gamemaster:the shackled prince's territory
Gamemaster:there'll be some good items
Argyle:Good to know.
Gamemaster:there but
Gamemaster:you know we
Argyle:I also mentioned the book.
Gamemaster:only held onto it for a little while
Gamemaster:before it just wasn't worth it.
Gamemaster:So I watch out.
Argyle:If they want to ask me any questions, we have a book that we could look some stuff up.
Argyle:And then I'm going to ask if you can do some research on the founding member of the Scale.
Gamemaster:What kind of research?
Gamemaster:What happened to their Strider, I think, is news to Dame Quay.
Argyle:Particularly their party, what happened to their strider, and the heart on it.
Argyle:Yeah Well
Gamemaster:Like that not just super public knowledge This will be like okay I will look into it
Argyle:Yeah.
Gamemaster:I don't know if I'm going to find much, but I can ask around.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Argyle:Yeah.
Gamemaster:And then that's probably it for that conversation.
Gamemaster:I think we'll switch over to, what did you get for the D100 for Red?
Benny:Okay.
Johnny:20.
Gamemaster:20.
Gamemaster:20.
Gamemaster:Red will, you'll give Red the full download of the info of everything you've been up to,
Gamemaster:and Red will say, that's a lot.
Gamemaster:Listen, I wasn't sure it was, like, worth it to bring it to your attention,
Gamemaster:because there's nothing you could do about it,
Gamemaster:given how far away you are.
Gamemaster:But I figured I'd just keep you up to date.
Gamemaster:There's been some movement on our side.
Gamemaster:Listen, people, especially ever since Teller's Run kind of blew up,
Gamemaster:people have been a bit on edge.
Gamemaster:People are getting a bit restless.
Gamemaster:I think something big is going to happen
Gamemaster:sooner rather than later.
Johnny:Well, thanks for letting me know.
Gamemaster:There's just a lot more weaponry
Gamemaster:moving through back channels than used to be.
Gamemaster:Just like, honestly, a few weeks ago.
Gamemaster:People are gearing up for something.
Gamemaster:Everybody's tense.
Gamemaster:I don't know what it is.
Gamemaster:I've been listening around.
Gamemaster:I just thought I should let you know.
Gamemaster:Yeah, I...
Johnny:I can't really do much from here.
Johnny:There's a gal at Iconoclasm named Dura who might be able to
Gamemaster:I mean, I can...
Johnny:I'll give you a little bit of help if you drop my name, but...
Gamemaster:Like, I don't even know if there's anything to do.
Gamemaster:I just figured, you know,
Gamemaster:I...
Gamemaster:You know, not to leave you fully in the dark.
Johnny:I wish I could. Is there any... Is everyone okay right now?
Johnny:Everyone still alive?
Gamemaster:I mean, those who are still around.
Gamemaster:Some people have kind of moved
Gamemaster:to other cells.
Gamemaster:given what happened.
Johnny:All right.
Gamemaster:You know.
Gamemaster:I'm kind of gunning for action.
Gamemaster:It seems like action's happening.
Gamemaster:I've asked Donnie a few times.
Gamemaster:He just says to
Gamemaster:wait and see.
Gamemaster:Listen,
Gamemaster:nothing to do right now.
Gamemaster:I just thought I'd let you know.
Gamemaster:Something's happening.
Gamemaster:I don't know what yet. I'll let you know as soon as I do.
Johnny:Keep me updated.
Johnny:let me know let me figure out at least who the guns are coming from and where they're going to
Gamemaster:I'll keep digging.
Benny:can
Gamemaster:Sure.
Johnny:all right thanks red
Gamemaster:Run that call.
Benny:can Benny contact Atum or is it just one way and as a nightmare of okay cool
Gamemaster:He can also contact Atum if you want.
Benny:um yeah no Benny Benny will contact uh Atum um update with everything including meeting
Johnny:Thank you you Atum son of machine god
Gamemaster:I...
Benny:machine god and effectively be like this is now where the spotlight is if you
Benny:could find out any information on all her name is completely gone
Benny:Aurelius party Strider machine god the heart
Benny:and the Harlequin you uh yeah once i
Gamemaster:Can you roll a lord check for me please as a stand in for like what you know of Atum I don know I mean you could be crazy but it usually on the bottom of your character
Argyle:you Atum actual name is
Benny:like crazy where's lore
Argyle:Son of Machine God.
Johnny:He may be quick.
Gamemaster:sheet.
Benny:oh loris kills you uh
Benny:And we're master?
Argyle:.
Johnny:See you.
Gamemaster:You are a master.
Gamemaster:Also, for the
Gamemaster:record, because he would just know this immediately
Gamemaster:and tell you,
Gamemaster:the two companions
Gamemaster:of Aurelius
Gamemaster:that eventually
Gamemaster:broke off and
Gamemaster:founded Belvedere are Helm
Gamemaster:and Torun Karabi.
Gamemaster:Oh, just siblings.
Benny:The rule was 22.
Argyle:Are they brothers in the plumbing business?
Anzu:We're on to you, Josh.
Johnny:.
Gamemaster:They're not twins.
Gamemaster:I'm sorry.
Gamemaster:They are brothers.
Gamemaster:They're not in the plumbing business.
Argyle:Data plumbing.
Gamemaster:Data plumbing, sure.
Gamemaster:They were really astronomers more than anything else.
Gamemaster:But data plumbing.
Johnny:.
Gamemaster:22. Okay. So, Atum, representation of Atum is effectively a hydrogen orbital
Gamemaster:constantly moving through different excited states, pressing different electrical impulses
Gamemaster:that pass through his system. It's always a little jarring to communicate from him, given how
Gamemaster:imposing he is
Gamemaster:as a heart,
Gamemaster:especially compared to,
Gamemaster:you know,
Gamemaster:box of bullets and like little seismograph and dude wearing suit made out of a towel Like there are there a Scale here of heart gravitas and Atum is definitely closer to
Gamemaster:the machine god side than he is to the genie side.
Gamemaster:Which is not a coincidence.
Gamemaster:you have known
Gamemaster:for a while
Gamemaster:that Atum has been
Gamemaster:interested in
Gamemaster:like
Gamemaster:ways to
Gamemaster:increase his own ability
Gamemaster:Atum is aware
Gamemaster:that he
Gamemaster:was manufactured using
Gamemaster:the newer
Gamemaster:more restrictive
Gamemaster:shackled process of new hearts.
Argyle:He's the big bad man.
Gamemaster:He is aware as well that there were hearts made
Gamemaster:that were not in that shackled restrictive process.
Gamemaster:He's old, but he's just barely not old enough
Gamemaster:to have been an old heart.
Gamemaster:And he has been trying to rectify that for some time now.
Gamemaster:if you mention the machine god to him that is of great note to him um
Gamemaster:just referencing it that's great because that gives him stuff to go on for research for himself
Gamemaster:for figuring stuff out he will absolutely help you in learning that uh Atum will also say
Gamemaster:if you have the opportunity to extract any information about this machine god's construction,
Gamemaster:you must do so.
Benny:Okay Okay Okay That good
Gamemaster:Excellent I will inform you when I have learned anything about the search queries that you granted me Oh the connection cuts I think that probably where we end it for today
Benny:
Gamemaster:And we will pick up tomorrow with Anzu, uh, talking to Yao.
Benny:Killing his sister.
Benny:Oh.
Argyle:Yeah.
Anzu:Yow!
Johnny:I don't know.
Anzu:Yow!
Benny:Yeah.
Gamemaster:Yao.
Gamemaster:Not killing his sister.
Gamemaster:If anyone's killing Anzu's sister, it's Benny.
Benny:That'll be the next scene.
Anzu:Oh, he already knows how.
Gamemaster:Because he's...
Argyle:And
Argyle:Benny,
Anzu:He's going to double slice.
Argyle:Benny and Atum are going to be the
Argyle:BBEGs.
Anzu:Uh-oh.
Johnny:We're going to fight Benny.
Benny:Benny could have had
Gamemaster:it's not possible
Argyle:Yeah.
Benny:into his dumpstead.
Benny:He's just like, wait, how do I kill Anzu's sister?
Benny:And he just looks down at his left hand and says,
Benny:double and his right hand says slice.
Argyle:No.
Anzu:um
Johnny:Yeah, there's no way they'll consume other hearts and get stronger.
Benny:He's like, oh yeah.
Benny:Atum can't be
Benny:the BBG. He's one of the newer
Benny:weaker hearts.
Johnny:That's never happened in any of our campaigns with anyone doing that.
Gamemaster:yeah
Gamemaster:I'd be crazy.
Benny:...
Gamemaster:But it's fine, because Benny wouldn't do anything to harm the Machine God.
Benny:correct
Argyle:people are like oh he's because he's a kid it's like no he kills lesser gods
Johnny:Benny is the heartbreaker.
Gamemaster:Because the Machine God is your friend.
Benny:Benny who
Benny:of the party members
Benny:definitely doesn't have the highest
Benny:heart kill count
Benny:he's murdered several beings
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:I think like
Johnny:I like...
Benny:yes
Johnny:We got...
Johnny:We got into Strider and no one went...
Johnny:He's a kid. Everyone went...
Johnny:Weapon in disguise. Easy.
Gamemaster:nobody
Benny:To be fair, someone was...
Gamemaster:you're on the strider not everybody on the strider is a combatant nobody on the strider
Argyle:all right
Johnny:Yes, it's me and my two adventurers and also our kid.
Gamemaster:is just a child like nobody's bringing just a child onto the strider and so like
Gamemaster:right there an old man is different from a child because one of those you could see as a guy
Benny:We brought a kid with us.
Johnny:So.
Benny:Yeah, no, we're from Middle World Adventures,
Benny:and then we brought a kid.
Benny:No, but there was just an old man on the Strider.
Johnny:You're welcome.
Benny:So...
Benny:and the other one's an old man
Argyle:Nine.
Gamemaster:relatively high up in his organization who has come as a representative i don't think anybody
Benny:yeah
Gamemaster:sees a 12 year old that is like
Gamemaster:clearly that's the guy
Gamemaster:who's like
Gamemaster:managing everyone else
Gamemaster:nine
Argyle:Nine.
Gamemaster:nine
Argyle:It's even worse.
Argyle:Isn't Benny nine?
Benny:yeah
Benny:Benny's a nine year old
Gamemaster:I don't know why I can't remember
Benny:also
Gamemaster:Benny's age
Gamemaster:what is wrong with me
Benny:one of the first
Benny:one of the first things
Gamemaster:that is true
Benny:Benny did
Benny:was spar the higher level people on the Strider that showed up.
Argyle:And then and then yeah
Anzu:So we handed in the usurper crown right That got eaten
Johnny:or
Gamemaster:literally day one
Johnny:see
Johnny:me
Gamemaster:day one
Johnny:as
Gamemaster:he approached them and asked to spar.
Gamemaster:Crazy But uh that fine Hmm
Benny:The hat the hat yeah
Argyle:because that way
Anzu:Cool.
Benny:it's affixed to Benny's falconer
Anzu:But the jolt coil is still around for the time being.
Gamemaster:Is it?
Anzu:Oh, cool.
Benny:if Benny could cast spells it would be useful but now
Argyle:Benny can get an extra 1d6
Anzu:Okay.
Argyle:because he needs more
Gamemaster:Right, yeah.
Anzu:I'm going to remove that from my list then.
Argyle:Yeah, it's a heart.
Benny:this is the thing that I thought was crazy
Anzu:It takes the spot of a talisman if you were to put a different kind of talisman on, but
Gamemaster:No, it's a different thing.
Benny:it doesn't occupy a rune slot
Benny:you're allowed
Benny:yeah it's a spell heart
Benny:so
Benny:it's very weird
Anzu:this is much better.
Benny:because then at this point
Benny:Benny could take the
Benny:shifting rune off
Benny:have the jolt coil
Benny:and then also throw on a level 8 damaging rune,
Argyle:You probably should do that.
Anzu:Speaking of runes, at level 10, I don't have much to do with my free archetype.
Gamemaster:Thank you That crazy
Benny:like a frost rune or something.
Benny:It would be very, very obnoxious.
Argyle:That'd be really frightening.
Benny:Yeah.
Anzu:And if I do the new runesmith dedication there a first level rune I can learn that you can put on a weapon and it makes it deal two persistent bleed per weapon damage die
Johnny:Wow.
Benny:you That is actually crazy
Gamemaster:That's crazy.
Anzu:So you look forward to that.
Johnny:Wow.
Johnny:Ooh.
Gamemaster:What runes, what new runes can you get at level 8?
Benny:Is there any critical effect for it, Tanner?
Gamemaster:Shock.
Argyle:I can also cast this for Benny.
Anzu:I don't think so.
Gamemaster:I totally forgot.
Benny:Or is that the critical effect?
Anzu:That's just what it does, and then I can evoke the rune and have it do a one-time thing to
Anzu:expend it, and then it's gone.
Anzu:It's literally a level one thing, so it's not...
Gamemaster:I...
Gamemaster:I didn't check to see if you guys added this onto your characters.
Benny:Implementing the rational fear.
Gamemaster:You guys are level 8.
Gamemaster:did you add a resilient rune
Argyle:Is it resilient or greater resilient okay so it already there it doesn show me on the drop down it already had resilient yeah
Anzu:Oh.
Gamemaster:to your armor?
Benny:Oh, I missed that.
Johnny:I'm adding it right now.
Anzu:Oh.
Gamemaster:Because you get one at level 8
Gamemaster:which just gives you a plus 1 bonus
Gamemaster:to saving throws.
Johnny:Oh, I got big AC now.
Benny:I like the potency and whatnot Just
Gamemaster:Just resilient Greater resilient is a level 14 item Oh does it not
Gamemaster:No, just regular Resilient is what you get at level 8.
Argyle:yeah
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:Yeah, because the rule set that we're playing isn't quite ABP.
Argyle:hmm
Gamemaster:ABP?
Gamemaster:Automatic Bonus Progression.
Gamemaster:Yeah, we're not doing that.
Gamemaster:We're doing Automatic Runic Progression,
Argyle:All right.
Gamemaster:which I don't think Path Builder has support for,
Anzu:I might need to change.
Gamemaster:so you just have to remember to add those manually.
Johnny:I added a bunch of my new stuff into Boundary
Gamemaster:But it is worth keeping in mind.
Anzu:Josh, I may need to make a slight adjustment to my level up.
Argyle:Well.
Gamemaster:That's fine.
Gamemaster:You guys can make...
Gamemaster:I didn't even have the chance to add your characters into Foundry
Gamemaster:for this one regardless.
Gamemaster:So if you want to make any changes,
Gamemaster:now's the time to do so.
Argyle:Adios muchachos
Gamemaster:Just let me know.
Anzu:Yeah.
Johnny:while we were playing this session.
Gamemaster:cool
Johnny:So most of it's already there, I think.
Benny:All righty.
Gamemaster:cool cool cool
Gamemaster:alrighty
Gamemaster:I will see you all next Monday
Benny:Thanks, Monday.
Argyle:Yeah
Gamemaster:okay then
Benny:Peace.
Gamemaster:adios
