Johnny:Yo, yo.
Argyle:Howdy.
Gamemaster:I hear you.
Argyle:You gotta give Josh a second.
Johnny:He's got to boot up the internet.
Argyle:Yeah, he's gotta boot up.
Argyle:He's gotta initialize his cluster.
Gamemaster:I'm not booting up the internet.
Gamemaster:That's not happening.
Gamemaster:How dare you?
Argyle:I like to imagine you
Gamemaster:You take that back.
Argyle:seething and you're like, I just gotta wait!
Gamemaster:So I can see you guys talking.
Gamemaster:Like the indicator turns green to show that you're saying things, but I cannot hear the words you're saying
Argyle:Wow.
Johnny:He's booting up the internet.
Argyle:Nice haircut.
Anzu:So, can we confirm that Josh can't hear us?
Argyle:Yeah.
Gamemaster:No, I I can hear you now like now my ears are working I can hear you I'm sorry
Argyle:Did you also get a haircut, Josh?
Anzu:Oh, no!
Gamemaster:No, I'm lying to you. I did know I did I did get a haircut
Argyle:It just looks fresh, man.
Johnny:Did you shower?
Argyle:All right.
Argyle:Okay.
Argyle:I was going to say, it looks good.
Argyle:I don't know if you're gelling it or something.
Johnny:No.
Argyle:Look very clean.
Gamemaster:I got my once... what do you... quimmonthly? How do you say five-monthly? There's a term for that.
Anzu:Just how on the dot are you that you don't feel like saying six months?
Benny:five monthly
Benny:it's quinn monthly
Gamemaster:Yeah, no, I...
Gamemaster:Um, well, if I said six months, I would be lying to you, because it hasn't been six months.
Gamemaster:So I didn't want to lie to you guys. That kind of seemed rude.
Gamemaster:It's Quinn Monthly? That doesn't sound right. From whom? From me? That doesn't count. That's
Benny:I've heard
Benny:mm-hmm
Johnny:Oh.
Argyle:I have not what is this
Anzu:From whomst.
Benny:wait
Gamemaster:illegal.
Gamemaster:Hmm?
Gamemaster:Yeah.
Benny:that's illegal
Gamemaster:I think it first of all it bad Like people talking about how it the best model ever are either lying to themselves or to other people And also I pretty sure it just like GLM 5 like some variant there
Benny:Josh, Jorge
Anzu:Oh, right.
Benny:have either of you played with
Benny:Ox Alpha
Benny:what do you think
Gamemaster:It feels very similar to that.
Benny:So, they recently, I think today, finally opened a polymarket for betting on which one people think it is, like which company it belongs to.
Gamemaster:Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
Benny:It is 97%.
Benny:Yeah.
Gamemaster:Before we continue, just context for the people here who don't have to deal with machine learning on a daily basis.
Gamemaster:There's a service called OpenRouter where companies that offer AI models allow people to purchase, you know, doing things with those AI models from OpenRouter.
Gamemaster:And OpenRouter supports anonymous listings, which is a company can list their LLM for other people to use in order to collect data and get an idea of how to set up their infrastructure and all that kind of stuff.
Anzu:Okay.
Gamemaster:and pretty recently an anonymous company put up a version of some model called ox alpha
Gamemaster:that if you read a very narrow benchmark that they led with it is like an order of magnitude
Gamemaster:better than the best models on the market from from the current providers and then they said
Gamemaster:it's free you can just use it for free um and so people have been doing that that's what this is
Argyle:It could be all birds.
Anzu:I have a prediction.
Benny:Mm-hmm.
Gamemaster:Sorry, not to interrupt you, Mike.
Gamemaster:Mm-hmm.
Anzu:I'm feeling Jimmy Dean like the sausage,
Anzu:breakfast sausage company.
Johnny:The rebranding.
Anzu:Okay.
Benny:
Gamemaster:Well, I, they're,
Gamemaster:no, they're doing data centers.
Argyle:They pivoted to AI.
Argyle:Okay.
Gamemaster:They're hosting the AI.
Gamemaster:I don't think that they're also offering it.
Johnny:It could be the wrong one.
Gamemaster:There are people at my company
Gamemaster:that are so so gosh what like sure that it Salesforce which is a weird pull for me But yeah is he are they doing a secret
Anzu:That my dad i don know if they doing a secret ii thing uh my dad is you know kind of on the sales
Gamemaster:AI thing? You would know.
Gamemaster:You have the inside scoop.
Gamemaster:Hmm.
Gamemaster:so you're saying
Anzu:well not my dad's a solutions engineer so he kind of straddles the line
Anzu:but he doesn't
Argyle:Get him a stenographer microphone for his birthday.
Benny:I
Gamemaster:he
Anzu:develop things
Gamemaster:maybe he secretly has been and he just can't tell you
Anzu:I do know that he has become
Gamemaster:because it's top secret you don't know
Anzu:a very big fan of AI
Anzu:he likes to talk
Gamemaster:mmm
Gamemaster:sure
Gamemaster:that happens
Gamemaster:they're so dumb
Benny:well
Anzu:to
Anzu:chat GPT
Benny:yeah
Argyle:Have you seen those?
Benny:it sucks the soul out of you slowly
Anzu:Oh, I know those.
Gamemaster:it looks like a the barcode scanner that you put on your face
Benny:but I like
Anzu:Yeah.
Anzu:Right.
Benny:I like OX Alpha
Benny:because
Benny:well previously I was burning
Benny:two dollars per
Benny:Secret Hitler game of seven people
Benny:to have
Benny:GPT Luna with almost
Benny:no reasoning run them and now that this is free and apparently they have a hundred trillion uh
Benny:per day token budget while this is free yeah which is why people which is why people like
Benny:narrowed in on the speculation because they're like who the fuck has that much compute to support
Benny:a hundred trillion tokens a day so i quickly instructed claude of claude code of my computer
Benny:fame to add an
Benny:OX Alpha Secret
Benny:Hitler game and run it. And it is
Benny:significantly sharper than Luna
Benny:in my
Benny:Secret Hitler benchmark It is beating Luna And I have recently I went through a full game They were actually very good It was very contentious They actually killed Hitler in
Benny:one of the games. There was other very interesting bluffing stuff like someone was president.
Benny:They got a fascist policy played. They were a fascist. They investigated Hitler and correctly
Benny:bluffed that hitler was a liberal and then later in the game the person who was who was hitler who
Benny:was playing perfectly as a liberal the whole game ended up saying something that like some dude just
Benny:couldn't let go and he got mad suspicious over essentially nothing and they ended up correctly
Benny:guessing that she was hitler and killed her so i don't know how they like got dumb luck the liberals
Benny:won that round but luna was doing nothing of the sort no no conniving no i'm i'm liberal i'm
Benny:fascist president i'll investigate hitler i'll tell everyone that that person's clear and we'll
Benny:keep the fucking charade going so uh and that was on low reasoning so i told uh i told claude 10x
Benny:all of the token restrictions we had before because there's specific restrictions for like
Benny:I don't know, writing in their personal scratchpad
Benny:round to round
Benny:and generally thinking for what they're
Benny:going to say. I said, multiply them all by 10,
Benny:set the reasoning to max, and run a
Benny:10-person game with OX Alpha.
Gamemaster:You got it for at least another week or so before they finish whatever experiment they're
Benny:I want to see what the fuck this shit looks
Benny:at full clip.
Benny:This would probably cost me like $50
Benny:a game
Benny:with non-Frontier-level shit.
Benny:So I'm taking advantage
Benny:of the free OX Alpha.
Benny:Mm-hmm.
Gamemaster:doing.
Gamemaster:Or announce that they're, you know, they did it.
Benny:We're getting while it's good.
Gamemaster:Just download it.
Gamemaster:Just download it and then run it locally.
Gamemaster:Just ask it.
Gamemaster:All of its weights. And it'll tell you. One weight at a time.
Anzu:I actually have a question.
Benny:All right.
Benny:And the second one?
Benny:Nice.
Benny:Okay.
Benny:And the third one?
Benny:Fantastic.
Gamemaster:I am... I think I'm ready. I know we're very ahead of time.
Benny:Yeah, we don't have a lot of idle chat.
Benny:Are you guys okay?
Gamemaster:I'm sorry.
Gamemaster:yes
Anzu:So if I want to download Gale,
Anzu:and I'm on this GitHub page,
Gamemaster:uh-huh
Anzu:and there's hella files here.
Gamemaster:um
Gamemaster:share your screen because I don't actually know what you're talking about
Anzu:Uh-oh.
Gamemaster:I mean I could also just find the direct link you need
Anzu:That...
Anzu:I don't know if I...
Gamemaster:if that would be easier
Gamemaster:Okay, one second, one second.
Anzu:I'm using two different computers.
Anzu:I don't...
Gamemaster:What system are you playing on?
Anzu:I am on a Windows 10 PC.
Gamemaster:Okay, it should be under the 1.22.1 entry, because that's the latest stable release they
Gamemaster:have.
Anzu:Of course.
Gamemaster:And if you're on Windows, you're looking for x64enus.msi.
Gamemaster:And MSI is a Windows installer that they like.
Anzu:Aha!
Benny:Microsoft installer?
Benny:Oh.
Gamemaster:I think it's Microsoft Signed Installer or something like that.
Gamemaster:I don't know.
Gamemaster:It's an installer.
Gamemaster:Why is it in my cell phone I don know
Argyle:you Yeah
Benny:you I just guessing
Argyle:Do you want me to share a screen to show you how I did it, Tanner?
Gamemaster:Oh, it is just Microsoft Installer.
Gamemaster:You were right, Mike.
Gamemaster:I'm on a roll.
Gamemaster:I can't say anything correct.
Argyle:Yeah, you've gone dumb with AI.
Argyle:It's taking all of us.
Gamemaster:I know.
Gamemaster:AI has made me stupid.
Johnny:listen Jorge was there when i had to figure out how to
Argyle:Yeah.
Gamemaster:um
Gamemaster:yeah
Gamemaster:I don't know
Gamemaster:either way
Gamemaster:if you end up getting a computer
Gamemaster:Noah I'll walk you through how to get the mods as well
Gamemaster:this is for Lethal Company
Gamemaster:is what that was
Gamemaster:um
Gamemaster:um
Johnny:hook up discord to my playstation that was already a lot
Gamemaster:um
Argyle:So, to be fair, your life would be simpler if you got a headset.
Gamemaster:um
Argyle:another thing which i'm not saying you have to it also might be easier to play marvel rivals and it
Johnny:I might get a headset.
Gamemaster:Amen.
Benny:Okay.
Argyle:might be more fun if you can hear what's happening like if you could hear someone behind you or
Argyle:screaming something it's a very loud game like it's actually very loud i set mine to five percent
Argyle:volume
Argyle:uh
Gamemaster:Now, you don't need it.
Benny:Okay.
Benny:Tanner says because it's that loud
Argyle:Oh, yeah, you got to say, like, more info or something.
Benny:because it was developed in Beijing.
Gamemaster:We got there.
Anzu:My computer does not want this to launch,
Benny:I wanted there to be enough seconds
Gamemaster:Took a little bit.
Benny:for you guys to predict what I was going to say.
Gamemaster:And you implemented that by stuttering?
Benny:Yeah.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Anzu:but I'm going to force it to happen.
Gamemaster:Why?
Gamemaster:it not an exe i got a text message from my mother saying help Josh I think I downloaded a scam and gave it my
Benny:Please.
Benny:Yeah, please, please, please let me run this EXE.
Benny:I downloaded it from the internet.
Argyle:Thank you Was it plaid
Benny:Please, please trust my...
Johnny:you Oh no
Anzu:Thank you Oh God
Benny:It an MSI you right
Gamemaster:bank password um which is like the most terrifying thing to get just in the middle of the day uh so
Gamemaster:what
Gamemaster:no it was an actual scam
Argyle:Was it actually a scam or was it plaid?
Gamemaster:she wanted to go to her
Argyle:No!
Gamemaster:Charles Schwab account
Johnny:Oh no.
Benny:Those bastards.
Gamemaster:and she mistyped and she went to like
Gamemaster:Charles Schaub
Gamemaster:and it
Johnny:Oh no.
Gamemaster:luckily like she didn't
Gamemaster:actually put the password in
Gamemaster:but she did download their malware
Gamemaster:and install that
Gamemaster:to help with privacy
Gamemaster:according to the website
Gamemaster:So I got to have a fun debugging session at work today.
Johnny:Oh no.
Gamemaster:Walking through how to do a scan and remove viruses and all that stuff.
Gamemaster:That was a good time.
Argyle:I assume she rotated her passwords and everything to be sure or
Gamemaster:That was fun.
Gamemaster:I made her.
Argyle:yeah yeah I know you would I just it just would have hurt if next session you're like by the way
Gamemaster:Yes.
Gamemaster:Oh, yeah, no, she didn't do it.
Gamemaster:It's fine.
Argyle:I forgot to yeah
Gamemaster:Oh, yeah.
Gamemaster:No, no, no, no.
Gamemaster:We rotated her passwords.
Gamemaster:It's fine.
Argyle:yeah uh bailey's dad got a text that said like hi mom i changed my phone number
Gamemaster:But hoo boy.
Gamemaster:That was a fun message.
Argyle:which is so funny it didn't work but it's so funny because this person is just like
Argyle:well if i text a bunch of numbers statistically some percentage of them will be moms
Argyle:and if they're dads maybe they'll fall for it
Gamemaster:Mm-hmm.
Gamemaster:it it used to be and then it stopped for a little bit and i think it's picked up again
Argyle:it didn't work he didn't fall for it
Argyle:but it is funny
Gamemaster:with voice cloning it used to be a pretty common scam to like call numbers that are in the phone book associated with old people and pretend to be a grandson um uh to like get them to send money to you or something like that um i that kind of just an evolution of that one
Johnny:you Yeah
Argyle:yeah yeah yeah
Gamemaster:You know for a fact that what happened last session happened.
Argyle:but I'm so sad to play Pathfinder
Argyle:having waken up from the dream
Argyle:that we all definitely didn't do
Argyle:Mm-hmm.
Gamemaster:You can't, it was all a dream, this.
Johnny:I disagree. I think it would be a very satisfying ending to begin this with.
Anzu:I think...
Gamemaster:It was all a dream is the least satisfying ending to anything ever.
Gamemaster:We're not doing it.
Anzu:Yeah.
Johnny:I heard that Rick Grimes dreamed The Walking Dead, and then inside of that he dreamed Us
Anzu:I'm still waiting for them to announce that Rick Grimes
Gamemaster:There's only...
Anzu:dreamed all of The Walking Dead
Anzu:and that he's still in the hospital bed.
Argyle:Was that a...
Gamemaster:There's only...
Argyle:Yeah.
Anzu:Oh.
Benny:Josh, it's like an Inception type deal.
Johnny:playing Last Session.
Argyle:That guy's brain's a supercomputer.
Benny:It's not like uninteresting dreams.
Benny:It's interesting dreams.
Gamemaster:The only piece of literature where it's all a dream is narratively satisfying is Cthulhu
Benny:So it's allowed.
Benny:Biggie Smalls.
Anzu:you think inception is a good film
Benny:oh
Gamemaster:mythos.
Gamemaster:And I can only say that because I haven't seen Inception, so it might be satisfying
Benny:but Biggie Smalls is
Gamemaster:in Inception, but I would have no way of knowing.
Benny:he's got that song
Benny:it was all a dream
Gamemaster:What song does Biggie Smalls have?
Gamemaster:Oh, okay.
Benny:I used to read Word Up magazine
Benny:salt and pepper
Benny:have you been up in the limousine
Gamemaster:Good for him, I guess.
Argyle:It is a good film.
Argyle:Speaking of films, you know what's not a good film?
Benny:What?
Argyle:The Gentleman Thief from...
Johnny:You could have just left it with John Travolta
Argyle:John Travolta.
Anzu:I didn't like Avengers.
Benny:even possesses you
Johnny:and that would have been enough.
Argyle:No, no, no, no, no, no.
Argyle:It has DJ Khaled.
Argyle:And somehow I think he was the best actor in the short 15 minutes that we got in.
Johnny:What?
Johnny:I haven't even heard of this movie.
Argyle:It is very bad.
Benny:I thought you were going to have like a controversial
Johnny:The Gent-
Benny:film take it's just like you guys know what
Benny:movie sucks
Argyle:Yeah.
Benny:backwards
Benny:sideways
Anzu:Endgame.
Johnny:Is this a new movement?
Argyle:that it's very very bad
Gamemaster:Did you just watch it?
Benny:with fucking Seth Green, dude.
Benny:It's just like,
Benny:when was the last time you was in a movie that was good?
Argyle:we tried to watch it recently and it was just so so hard to watch
Gamemaster:Is that why you're complaining about it?
Gamemaster:Or was it so bad that it's been burning in the back of your head for years?
Argyle:also john travolta is like 90 and couldn't even raise his arms for part of it
Gamemaster:Mm-hmm.
Benny:he's old
Johnny:Isn't John Travolta, he's not that old.
Argyle:he looked really old
Gamemaster:He's like 400.
Benny:he was 50 in like the 1980s
Argyle:he looked really
Argyle:he was born in 1952
Gamemaster:He's 72.
Johnny:Wow.
Gamemaster:But...
Argyle:I think the best person in Hollywood right now
Argyle:is Jason Statham
Benny:All of them.
Johnny:in terms of like acting
Argyle:he just he he's keeping he's keeping action alive okay okay
Gamemaster:Like, best person from what perspective?
Johnny:I disagree
Johnny:I strongly disagree
Benny:somebody get these beggars out of here what so it from a movie i can say any line from a movie
Johnny:it's Robert Pattinson
Johnny:the best actor in Hollywood
Argyle:i he's the best actor yes but is robert pattinson keeping alive an entire genre of movies i don't
Johnny:is Robert Pattinson right now and I will
Johnny:I'll die
Johnny:he's keeping alive the genre
Argyle:think so
Argyle:Yeah Yeah leap out leap it out tanner about to say some slurs bleep it out from the uh
Johnny:of hot dude and weird art
Johnny:movies That was a
Anzu:oh whoa careful
Gamemaster:you Any line
Benny:tanner's like that reminds me of jango
Johnny:Say every line...
Johnny:Say every line from Django Unchained.
Argyle:
Argyle:Quentin Tarantino
Benny:we just asked
Benny:it's just like I mean anything
Benny:from fuck what's his name
Johnny:I think it was around
Gamemaster:You asked this like two or three sessions ago.
Anzu:I
Benny:anything from Quentin Tarantino is on the
Argyle:when how old were you guys when you realized that Quentin Tarantino has a foot fetish
Benny:table
Benny:like
Argyle:no no that was i don't think that was uh in dnd i think that was with games was it yeah
Benny:like 23
Johnny:2016
Johnny:yeah I don't think I had this conversation
Gamemaster:Hello?
Benny:like
Johnny:but it was around 2016 when I watched
Gamemaster:Hello?
Argyle:how about you tanner
Johnny:From Dusk Until Dawn
Johnny:yeah
Argyle:so I mentioned when I went to BU
Anzu:feel like
Johnny:Yeah, I think you got me there.
Gamemaster:I, that is such a misrepresentation of what I said.
Anzu:I never
Anzu:I didn't come to that
Anzu:realization watching a film of his.
Argyle:I didn't know that yet
Argyle:and someone told me and then Josh was like
Anzu:I was going to say college
Argyle:yeah and then Josh was like
Anzu:as well.
Argyle:you couldn't tell he had all those
Argyle:sexy feet in there you didn't
Argyle:notice
Benny:Josh.
Anzu:That sounds a lot like you, Josh.
Argyle:yeah josh is like there was all these good sucking feet on there
Anzu:You didn't know.
Johnny:Yes.
Gamemaster:Not what I said.
Argyle:real suckable toes and i was like whoa sorry i didn't find toes attractive uh but yeah i didn't
Gamemaster:Not what I said.
Johnny:Please.
Johnny:Please.
Gamemaster:Not at all what I said.
Argyle:know and then now now it's hard to watch his movies i used to like his movies but now that
Gamemaster:I didn't say this
Johnny:All you can focus on is the feet.
Argyle:i see all the toes i'm like i can't watch this
Benny:Josh.
Argyle:I don know speaking of big dogs
Benny:Josh is like,
Johnny:You can only focus on the side of the toes.
Benny:you didn't,
Benny:you didn't notice how he,
Johnny:Please.
Benny:he only hires actresses with really nice feet
Benny:and Jorge is like
Johnny:Please.
Benny:what?
Anzu:Notice that Quentin Tarantino employs the best feat in the business
Johnny:Please.
Gamemaster:this is slander this is slander and then when it gets transcribed it gonna be libel You can say this yeah
Johnny:Thank you The AI description of this session is going to be big dogs and good feet
Benny:I mean if you look at if you look at anyone else if you look at Christopher Nolan like all the big dogs
Benny:bad feet in the movies or they don't even show them at all
Benny:you can tell
Argyle:did you see the Quinta Tarantino movie
Benny:speaking of big dogs
Benny:big dogs
Benny:and then I'll be in the front row
Argyle:there's even a movie where he casts himself
Argyle:as someone that's like suck on someone's feet
Johnny:Yeah, that's just still gone.
Argyle:or something.
Johnny:It's Selma Hayek.
Johnny:There's a whole scene of it.
Argyle:Oh, I didn't see that movie.
Argyle:I didn't see that movie, but I
Argyle:didn't realize Kill Bill and all that.
Argyle:Like, I just thought it was some artsy shot
Argyle:of her foot. I don't know. I didn't think it was
Argyle:sexual.
Benny:I'll be in the front row, she'll have a high echo walk over
Benny:she'll put her foot in my mouth whether I like it or not
Benny:and then what I'm going to do is
Benny:is she's going to pour beer down her leg
Benny:and I'm going to have to drink it.
Benny:It's going to be really fucked up for me, guys.
Argyle:how many times you think he said cut early
Johnny:This is a real scene, but this is a real shot from the movie.
Benny:We're going to have to do 12 takes.
Argyle:you know what if i saw that movie and didn't know i would i would understand the confusion
Benny:What, with a foot in his mouth?
Johnny:This is a real shot.
Benny:Quentin, we grabbed...
Johnny:This is a real movie.
Johnny:This is a real movie.
Benny:Quentin we grabbed the 30 rack of beers
Argyle:it's hard to not know if you saw that movie i'm sorry josh i'm sorry
Benny:but it's only needed for this one part of this one scene
Argyle:Oh, Steve-O, man.
Benny:I don't know if we're going to go through all 30
Anzu:Why don't we play some Pathfinder or something?
Benny:unlike Steve-O
Gamemaster:What?
Benny:where they found the guy with the longest nails in the world
Benny:and then they poured beer down his nails and he drank that
Benny:I had to bring the temperature down.
Gamemaster:What?
Gamemaster:Gross.
Argyle:Yeah.
Benny:There's Salma Hayek in the chat.
Anzu:Okay.
Benny:I had to bring the temperature down.
Benny:I'm sorry.
Gamemaster:Let's play some Pathfinder.
Johnny:Yeah Yeah
Argyle:Oh, yeah.
Gamemaster:If that amenable with everybody Does anybody want to do a recap of what happened last session
Benny:Does anybody want to do Oh wait wait hold on
Benny:One order of business.
Benny:Does anyone have a current headshot of Argyle for nefarious purposes?
Argyle:Sorry, I can get you one in a second.
Gamemaster:Jorge does.
Benny:Okay.
Johnny:Actually, I have several.
Benny:That was worth interrupting the intro.
Gamemaster:No, the person who has the most up-to-date headshot of Argyle right now is Tanner.
Johnny:what's weird is that tanner wrote and directed the whole movie
Gamemaster:Is this why Tanner does additional damage to things with feet?
Anzu:I've been storing it, keeping it for special purposes.
Benny:it's just a full body shot
Benny:and you're like, wait, why did you, did you have AI
Benny:remove his shoes?
Johnny:and then had argyle and himself in it and he had argyle put his feet just like in a shot
Johnny:i'll do the recap
Anzu:It's integral to the plot.
Benny:Who's doing the recap?
Johnny:last session we all had a great night's sleep
Gamemaster:Sorry, Noah's hand was raised.
Gamemaster:No.
Johnny:and that was the entire session
Johnny:we were finishing up our conversation
Johnny:with the twins and
Johnny:Johnny
Johnny:had the great idea to contact the men here
Johnny:because they're the heroes and we need all the help
Johnny:we can get because in Superlix
Johnny:the bifurcated man, the mountain
Johnny:was somewhere on board
Johnny:we put on a show
Johnny:it went super great
Johnny:rolled amazingly, we met the men here
Johnny:Aut was like
Johnny:Aut was kind of a jerk about it
Johnny:he was like, you can only have one friend
Johnny:I'm only friends with people who are friends with me
Johnny:and no one else
Johnny:which is a real narrow mentality
Johnny:and it's going to get him shot with a golden needle
Johnny:anyway, then we talked to the men here
Johnny:and they were like
Johnny:we were like, oh yeah man
Johnny:anyway, we need help
Johnny:and he went
Johnny:doo doo doo
Johnny:and then gave
Johnny:us a fancy
Johnny:gun that
Johnny:shot the
Johnny:most precious
Johnny:resource across
Johnny:three campaigns
Johnny:and we had
Johnny:17 of them
Johnny:and they were
Johnny:like wow
Johnny:should we
Johnny:shoot ourselves
Johnny:with these
Johnny:and he went
Johnny:doo doo doo
Johnny:and
Johnny:Then we shot him, which I guess was the right move, and also crazy.
Argyle:Someone had to pull the trigger.
Johnny:And then we blipped back out.
Johnny:Yes, Argyle is the only one of us to have killed a god, ironically.
Johnny:Then we blipped back out, and the twins were like, what happened?
Johnny:We were like, uh.
Johnny:Then they blipped out, and then we were shunted across reality to off the map,
Johnny:the far end of nowhere where it was all cold and sad and we're like this would be bad uh we summoned
Anzu:Hmm.
Johnny:chuck chuck was dead uh then machine god was like there's incursions everywhere everything's
Johnny:collapsing everyone's dead and we were like we should go investigate and get a void heart
Johnny:so we did and then there was a quaalont which almost killed us but the quaalont was coming
Johnny:through anyway and there was a lot of them and they were all working together and they
Johnny:They were coming through on their own anyway.
Johnny:Then we drove back, we used the Voidheart, we got some cool new magic dampening, and then
Gamemaster:Yeah.
Johnny:the twins were like, what did you do? Why did you do that? We were like, it was there.
Johnny:They were like, you could have walked away! Which, why would we do that? We couldn't do that.
Johnny:And then everyone else was like, how do you know what's going on? And we were like, I don't know, just
Johnny:instinct. We're pretty good in these situations.
Johnny:And now we're here.
Gamemaster:Listen, sometimes people who follow the script correctly
Gamemaster:refuse the call, as the hero is supposed to do near the beginning of the journey.
Argyle:yeah yeah but we lost a very powerful ally
Gamemaster:But sometimes you skip straight ahead. Sometimes that happens.
Argyle:if we rejected it bad maybe not this bad
Argyle:our guy doesn't know the hero's journey
Gamemaster:Either way,
Gamemaster:ignoring the revisionism
Gamemaster:that happened a little bit in the middle there,
Gamemaster:that a good recap I give you a mythic point for that That acceptable to me Um that said uh we left off gosh where did we yes Jorge
Argyle:you um this is giving uh we didn rob that uh money and it also giving that gong just got destroyed
Argyle:by itself this might be our our campaign's big we didn't do that that was some other guy
Johnny:Nobody could have prevented this.
Gamemaster:One of you or all of you
Anzu:I think it's giving
Anzu:we're all trying to figure out who did this
Anzu:as we stand in our hot dog costume
Gamemaster:collectively are wearing a hot dog costume
Gamemaster:Yes, absolutely
Gamemaster:But yeah, no, that's fine
Gamemaster:That's acceptable
Gamemaster:You get a mythic point
Argyle:Are
Johnny:I think we're back in our house in the in our area.
Gamemaster:I totally, I apologize. I actually forget where we left off last session. Where are you guys? What are you doing?
Benny:Uh...
Johnny:We're waiting.
Gamemaster:The Fane?
Johnny:I think we were in our bed.
Johnny:Yeah, on our fan.
Johnny:There we go.
Johnny:I think we were either waiting for everybody else to come over or it was the morning and
Johnny:they were about to come over.
Argyle:our story was
Gamemaster:Alright, you're holding a Summit.
Argyle:yeah our story was
Argyle:we noticed the thing broke
Argyle:we went over to see the harlequins
Argyle:we noticed there were void hearts
Argyle:we tried to close them
Argyle:we got overwhelmed
Argyle:then we went to talk to our friends
Argyle:and then Mindbird goes
Argyle:oh we're far because I can sense void
Argyle:that's our story guys
Argyle:and then everyone else goes,
Argyle:ooh, you guys should host a get-together.
Argyle:And then we like oh yeah
Gamemaster:Sure Uh sure Okay so just for my own sake who did you send out the invites to
Gamemaster:Everybody in your skein, which would be Protectorate, Scale, Hildebrandt, and Prime Meridian?
Gamemaster:Okay, absolutely.
Gamemaster:Excuse me.
Gamemaster:So you guys, you get a long rest if any of you are injured for something that may have happened.
Gamemaster:For instance, the nine-year-old that really got beat up for a little bit there.
Gamemaster:You heal up.
Gamemaster:The rest of you are totally fine because you put the nine-year-old in the way of danger so that you didn't have to be.
Gamemaster:You sent out your message.
Gamemaster:You got general affirmatives from everybody.
Gamemaster:Everybody RSVP'd to your partiful.
Gamemaster:they will be attending
Gamemaster:but you get in your long rest
Gamemaster:you rest up, everybody is still
Gamemaster:rattled
Gamemaster:can I get
Gamemaster:I guess
Gamemaster:I would love it if I could get
Gamemaster:either a diplomacy or a
Gamemaster:society check
Gamemaster:as people start filling in
Gamemaster:and you also have the people who live with you
Gamemaster:the remnants of
Gamemaster:Solari Sub-surface and Alkahest
Gamemaster:radiant arms
Gamemaster:in your little alliance
Johnny:I did roll astronomically well last session.
Argyle:I just remember Johnny rolled really well
Anzu:Josh, do you want one of each?
Gamemaster:here.
Gamemaster:Just get me either a society
Gamemaster:or a diplomacy as you kind of get
Gamemaster:a reading on the vibe.
Argyle:to convince the other people in our skein
Argyle:and they're like, you guys are the de facto leaders.
Argyle:I remember that part. I didn't make that up.
Gamemaster:If you like.
Johnny:I think better than I've ever rolled in any session ever.
Anzu:And yet the outcome was bad.
Argyle:And I think...
Johnny:All right.
Gamemaster:Mike so it things happen I do to avoid rightfully dogging on Mike
Argyle:Well I think Mike rolled the worst ever Worst ever
Benny:It doesn seem like Josh says it not bad It just happens On the Scale of happens
Gamemaster:because this is all his fault,
Benny:...
Gamemaster:like, besides the fact that it wasn't a bad roll,
Gamemaster:it was a things-happen-faster-than-expected roll.
Benny:...
Gamemaster:The other bit is, like,
Gamemaster:the worst he's ever rolled
Gamemaster:was effectively just two ones on a d10 which you've all rolled worse than that before
Benny:We're all at full.
Gamemaster:like that's not a crazy thing to have happened but you know
Gamemaster:yeah separately from that it is 100 exclusively mike's fault that any of this happened um
Gamemaster:and uh i've made it so that everybody on the strider knows that it's benny's fault
Gamemaster:just like psychologically they just know it i believe that's one of the effects of the
Johnny:I got 30 to diplomize.
Anzu:20.
Gamemaster:10 000 random wands is that like everybody knows it's your fault that something bad happened
Gamemaster:so we'll say that that happened
Gamemaster:um okay what did we get for society
Gamemaster:20 okay so with the 31 um
Anzu:20.
Gamemaster:yeah that's fair uh so are so are a lot of the other people to be fair um
Anzu:I'm rattled.
Gamemaster:in that
Gamemaster:a lot of people are rattled
Gamemaster:which isn't crazy
Gamemaster:you went from an uncertain
Gamemaster:voyage into the unknown
Gamemaster:where something was slowly sucking
Gamemaster:the life out of first
Gamemaster:some shield that you have and then if that
Gamemaster:fails you, possibly killing
Gamemaster:you and turning you into void creatures
Gamemaster:or a portal to void creatures
Gamemaster:and now that's kind of been
Gamemaster:compounded a little bit by
Gamemaster:Instead of venturing into the unknown in one direction, you ventured very, very, very far into the unknown in some other direction.
Gamemaster:And it seems worse, because now you're not moving, so you're effectively stranded where you currently are.
Gamemaster:And also those void creatures are now a faction on the Strider, taking the place of the original people who piloted this pilgrimage, leaving you in a way more uncertain step than you were just a few minutes ago.
Gamemaster:Actually, at this point, it's been like 12 hours.
Gamemaster:And so looking around, there are kind of three general buckets that people are falling into.
Gamemaster:Most of the group that is of the less fighting shape, a lot of Solari Sub-surface, most of Alka-Hest Freight, a lot of the people that came from Hildebrandt as well.
Gamemaster:and the general gophers from...
Gamemaster:Sorry, my cat is tearing up my carpet.
Gamemaster:Stop that.
Gamemaster:What are you doing?
Gamemaster:Most of the unpowered people are terrified out of their minds,
Gamemaster:is to say.
Gamemaster:They already didn't have a lot of say of what was going on.
Gamemaster:they either didn't know what they were getting into
Gamemaster:or didn't know what they were getting into
Gamemaster:and also didn't have a choice
Gamemaster:so this is just worse
Gamemaster:before it was just a general unease
Gamemaster:and that's kind of bubbling up to the surface
Gamemaster:Salvado hasn't been drinking
Gamemaster:but that is only because you forcibly purge
Gamemaster:the alcohol from his system and he kind of feels like he needs to vomit anytime he goes near it It not for lack of trying Uh the other members of Solari Sub-surface are
Gamemaster:uh, and probably have been for the past, uh, 12 hours, uh, very, very, um,
Gamemaster:drunk and something else. Uh, they are, they are out of their gourds at the moment. Um,
Gamemaster:unclear on what.
Gamemaster:Most of Alkahest Freight
Gamemaster:is similarly not looking good,
Gamemaster:looking stressed,
Gamemaster:bit fingernails,
Gamemaster:kind of like scratching at scabs and stuff,
Gamemaster:bad habits from general anxiety
Gamemaster:starting to stick up,
Gamemaster:with the exception of Kadou,
Gamemaster:who falls into the second bucket,
Gamemaster:along with some of the higher-ranking members
Gamemaster:of Prime Meridian,
Gamemaster:as well as most of the Scale and most of Radiant Arms,
Gamemaster:which is curious.
Gamemaster:Either what has happened hasn't really hit them
Gamemaster:or this is just another step on whatever adventure they're going on
Gamemaster:or something like that.
Gamemaster:This has kind of just become like, you know,
Gamemaster:something not taken in stride necessarily,
Gamemaster:but an interesting data point nevertheless.
Gamemaster:The entire time that you guys have been awake,
Gamemaster:Kadou has also been awake, with a number of alchemical and arcane measuring devices looking out onto the horizon and onto the rocky outcropping of wherever you currently are, taking down some kind of measurements.
Gamemaster:He's just generally interested in the area.
Gamemaster:similarly
Gamemaster:it seems like the members
Gamemaster:of the Scale, all three of them do attend
Gamemaster:your little powwow, have been
Gamemaster:muttering to themselves and when you come over
Gamemaster:to greet them and say hi we'll also
Gamemaster:shoot general theories
Gamemaster:of where the hell we are
Gamemaster:and all that kind of stuff excuse me the third bucket the bucket that the Protectorate falls into the bucket that it seems that Paavo of Hildebrandt falls into um and uh the bucket that it seems
Gamemaster:kind of a little bit the Twins are falling into, uh, is the third, uh, on high alert,
Gamemaster:oh my god, we're in so much danger, I need to shoot the shit out of anything that comes close
Gamemaster:before it can kill us.
Anzu:Can you give me again besides Kadou
Gamemaster:It is the opposite of the first bucket.
Gamemaster:If the first bucket is flight,
Gamemaster:these guys are fight.
Gamemaster:Like, yes.
Anzu:who was in the middle bucket?
Gamemaster:Absolutely.
Anzu:Or was it just Kadou?
Gamemaster:The middle bucket, no, it's Kano.
Gamemaster:It is most of the Scale.
Gamemaster:who don't actually seem to be as on guard as, like, the Protectorate is.
Argyle:This is a Tuesday for them.
Gamemaster:The Scale is also, like, you would know, of these groups,
Gamemaster:the most likely to have spent extended time elsewhere on the horizon fighting.
Gamemaster:So this is definitely, like, strange, but they aren't on edge.
Argyle:Oh.
Argyle:Fucker.
Argyle:Oh.
Anzu:Tas Millett
Gamemaster:The head of Prime Meridian, who would, in a very derivative way, see this as just an interesting possible new way.
Argyle:Sorry.
Gamemaster:Yes, Tas, thank you.
Gamemaster:This place is interesting, and he's not really a combatant to begin with.
Gamemaster:So he's looking at this more from the perspective of, this is strange.
Gamemaster:and there might be something
Gamemaster:of worth here.
Argyle:And then where was Radiant Arms and Paavo in on this?
Gamemaster:So he's, you know.
Gamemaster:Oh, sorry.
Gamemaster:Radiant Arms is in the second bucket They are curious This is interesting This is new Paavo is on edge Paavo showed up He told you ahead of time that he was going to do this
Gamemaster:so as to not surprise you. But Paavo is traveling exclusively with an armed guard at this point.
Gamemaster:Earlier on the Strider's travel, he was fine, like, just himself. He can fight,
Gamemaster:so he wasn't particularly worried.
Gamemaster:He doesn't know what this area shows,
Gamemaster:and he is generally a cautious man,
Argyle:Okay.
Gamemaster:so he is only going places with armed backup at this point.
Gamemaster:He's definitely on edge.
Gamemaster:And then I guess, you know, the four of you,
Gamemaster:or five, if we're counting Othello,
Gamemaster:get to put yourselves in any of these buckets as you please.
Gamemaster:But, you know, general anxiety, on-edge curiosity all mixing together as people are getting settled around the time that you had specified for your summit, for your powwow.
Johnny:I'll perceive as well.
Argyle:Yeah.
Anzu:There's a very nondescript man in the corner.
Benny:There better not be.
Gamemaster:Can I get a perception check?
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:what do we get
Argyle:Yeah.
Argyle:Oh, goodness.
Anzu:oh my gosh
Argyle:All right, good.
Benny:Where is he?
Johnny:30 seconds.
Johnny:Correct.
Johnny:Johnny has never been on higher alert
Anzu:Johnny sees the men here
Gamemaster:what do we get
Johnny:I got a 36
Anzu:they're alive and well it was just a joke
Johnny:script
Gamemaster:36 crit, absolutely.
Gamemaster:Okay, so you guys are all settled.
Anzu:okay
Gamemaster:Oh, actually, this is an important question.
Anzu:That's terrifying.
Gamemaster:One second.
Gamemaster:I need to read a rule for a second, because it didn't occur to me until just now that
Gamemaster:it might be relevant.
Johnny:Oh.
Argyle:Is it about the moats?
Benny:It's the incompatization rule.
Gamemaster:One second.
Johnny:All you.
Argyle:yeah
Gamemaster:It is, it is...
Anzu:I was thinking the same thing, Mike.
Gamemaster:No, it's not incapacitation.
Gamemaster:It is a little bit about the modes.
Argyle:and just putting it out there
Gamemaster:Okay, so what I was going to say, I don't...
Argyle:the twins have that
Argyle:that thing they did in the car
Argyle:that they did on our place
Argyle:they told us it was to stop interdimensional
Argyle:travel I don't know if that's actually what it did
Gamemaster:Yes, no, nobody's teleporting.
Argyle:I'm assuming it's an invisible man
Gamemaster:Um, so the, the thing that I had to, the thing that I had to read the rules for is that,
Argyle:but yeah
Argyle:Yep.
Gamemaster:okay, so let's do this formally. Um, you guys have the, uh, morphic moat upgrade,
Gamemaster:uh, which specifically makes the whole area become, oh wait, do you have alarm wards?
Gamemaster:You do, right? Absolutely. Okay, so the question here is, do me a favor and enumerate for me
Argyle:Yep.
Argyle:Shell told us to get that.
Gamemaster:people who would be allowed to pass without issue. That seems easier. We'll do an allow
Johnny:I assume we'll be everyone in our scheme, right?
Argyle:no not everyone in our thing
Anzu:certainly
Benny:Yeah.
Gamemaster:list instead of a deny list. Who is able to pass the border without issue?
Anzu:certainly Paavo
Argyle:what
Anzu:why is Paavo triggering alarms
Gamemaster:Okay.
Argyle:it could just ring a bell
Argyle:why would he not trigger alarms
Anzu:okay
Argyle:you want him sneaking in in the middle of the night
Anzu:so then everybody triggers alarms
Argyle:so the only people who wouldn't trigger alarms i think are the four of us that's it five of us with
Anzu:Thank you you bing bing bong
Johnny:Wait, yeah, the twins.
Benny:Or.
Gamemaster:Okay, that's fine.
Argyle:withanzu
Argyle:they do it they do it in stores why wouldn we do it in a War scenario
Gamemaster:Absolutely.
Gamemaster:Five of us with Anzu.
Johnny:Maybe a bing bong instead of a klaxon sound like in a dry cleaner
Gamemaster:Othello was in the group of four.
Gamemaster:Anzu's the...
Gamemaster:Okay, absolutely.
Gamemaster:So every time a new guest shows up at the edge of your Fane,
Gamemaster:there is
Gamemaster:there's
Gamemaster:a
Gamemaster:a
Gamemaster:klaxon
Gamemaster:sound
Gamemaster:that goes
Gamemaster:off
Gamemaster:uh
Gamemaster:yeah no that fine that fine Absolutely Okay fine There a gentle bing as an intruder appears on your doorstep
Benny:Bing bong Ding dong
Gamemaster:Anytime an intruder appears on your doorstep.
Gamemaster:So there's a bing-bong that goes off every time one of the people who are coming to the summit shows up.
Gamemaster:Everybody for the summit is present. They're ready to go.
Gamemaster:there's a bing bong that sounds
Gamemaster:at your alarm in the central area
Johnny:Breathe.
Argyle:run over there
Benny:But yeah.
Gamemaster:by your heart.
Argyle:and we have gunners looking watching out
Gamemaster:Okay. Absolutely.
Gamemaster:No perception check needed here.
Gamemaster:You go out to the front towards your moat, where there was the
Gamemaster:where... I mean, the alarm
Gamemaster:doesn't tell you where it occurred, but your faint is not
Gamemaster:so large that you can't, like, do a quick
Gamemaster:360 and figure out where it is.
Gamemaster:There is...
Gamemaster:There is
Gamemaster:not attempting to breach your walls, not attempting to hide at all. There is a,
Argyle:so
Argyle:This motherfucker.
Gamemaster:it looks to be, at first glance, it looks like a human who's had their skin ripped off.
Gamemaster:And then you can actually tell it's the opposite. It's a skeleton that somebody put muscles on.
Gamemaster:This is something that you had seen previously. This is one of those
Gamemaster:drones that were setting up
Gamemaster:the Pale Lantern Society's
Gamemaster:fame.
Argyle:Send the send number five to go get it.
Gamemaster:This is a skeleton
Gamemaster:that has had muscles and
Gamemaster:sinew and tendons
Gamemaster:grown on top of the bones
Gamemaster:and then magically
Gamemaster:enchanted to be animate.
Gamemaster:It is
Gamemaster:stock still, standing
Gamemaster:one foot over the line
Gamemaster:of your base
Gamemaster:so as to have triggered the alarm.
Gamemaster:holding an envelope in both of its bony hands.
Johnny:The little bird
Argyle:No No You bad
Gamemaster:Okay, absolutely.
Anzu:I walk out to the I guess Othello can go do a flyby and grab the thing
Benny:the bird
Gamemaster:Othello swoops down, grabs the envelope, and then swoops back up.
Gamemaster:With its function seemingly dispatched, the drone does a weird little bow and then starts walking north.
Johnny:There you go.
Argyle:Can you detect magic to see if this is a crapt or scrying?
Anzu:Alright, I use...
Johnny:Anthrax in there?
Anzu:Does it register magic, Josh?
Argyle:Yeah.
Gamemaster:Roll Arcana.
Anzu:Well, uh, wait, wait.
Argyle:What if they put a listing device in the thing?
Anzu:If I cast the spell...
Gamemaster:Oh, right, you have detect magic, you're just casting detect magic.
Anzu:Hold on.
Anzu:Please hold.
Anzu:If I cast Detect Magic...
Gamemaster:Uh, yeah, that's easy enough.
Johnny:Oh.
Argyle:Good.
Anzu:I open.
Gamemaster:You cast detect magic, you detect no magic.
Argyle:Good.
Gamemaster:Okay, Anthrax bursts out at you.
Anzu:It's not magic.
Anzu:It's just a disease.
Gamemaster:No.
Gamemaster:The note is pretty short.
Gamemaster:It is written in this long, flowing cursive,
Gamemaster:in this deep red ink,
Argyle:Maybe we should chat with our alliance first before we bring in a guy.
Anzu:that is fascinating
Benny:I was thinking about gambling at a time like this.
Gamemaster:and it says,
Gamemaster:I wish to parlay,
Gamemaster:signed Grayson.
Anzu:so Grayson kind of wants to chat
Gamemaster:I totally sorry it would have also It would have given you a time and date
Anzu:you guys
Anzu:oh certainly
Anzu:yes
Anzu:but uh But uh
Argyle:I assuming he scared of getting whacked by this new faction and honestly I kind of What
Gamemaster:It's occurred to me that he would not let you, like, respond to come onto his territory.
Gamemaster:It'll tell you Giacomo's an hour and a half from now.
Anzu:Is Giacomo's not
Anzu:in the
Anzu:area of town?
Gamemaster:It's not in the Harlequin City.
Gamemaster:No, Giacomo's is in the central hub around the base of the gyroscope thing, which as far as you know is still intact.
Argyle:Oh.
Johnny:We have to get the show on the road.
Argyle:All right, let's go talk.
Anzu:Oh.
Anzu:What time does he want to meet?
Gamemaster:An hour and a half from now.
Anzu:Okay, fascinating.
Anzu:All right, let's go chat with everybody.
Gamemaster:Oh, and while we're doing clearing stuff up, I do want to, I didn't look back at the transcript, but I remember today,
Gamemaster:today. I don't know if I mentioned it, so I'm going to put emphasis on it now to make sure that
Gamemaster:I know that I mentioned it. The world that you're in right now has one sun. Just putting that out
Johnny:I have to do the deep lore.
Argyle:Oh yeah, it used to have two, right?
Anzu:Hmm.
Gamemaster:there. Normally it has two. Yes, right now it has one. I just, you know, I don't know if I
Argyle:When we weren't this far out.
Argyle:Yeah.
Gamemaster:remembered to say that last session, so I'm remembering to say that now. Yes.
Gamemaster:Yes.
Johnny:In this setting, is one of them the sun and one is the Godhome, like shining into the world?
Johnny:Okay, that's what I thought.
Gamemaster:Yes.
Johnny:And this is just the Giant ball of fire.
Argyle:We don't have the Godhome.
Anzu:And can you tell them apart?
Gamemaster:Yeah.
Gamemaster:This, yeah, this is just the sub.
Gamemaster:No Godholm.
Johnny:Okay.
Argyle:I think this is past the wall
Argyle:for the gods.
Johnny:Oh, yeah, shunt it out.
Argyle:Okay.
Argyle:Okay.
Johnny:All right, let's get the show on the road.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:So you guys can head back and have your summit.
Gamemaster:they're all crowded around in
Gamemaster:probably
Gamemaster:the workshop, the gun range, or the
Argyle:War room.
Gamemaster:kitchen. Those are the three that would be
Argyle:worm.
Benny:Because we have a...
Gamemaster:Oh, you have a War room! You're totally right. You're all in the
Argyle:We have a map, and then we've
Gamemaster:War room.
Gamemaster:Uh
Johnny:Friends, friends,
Argyle:Put like little icons where they're like.
Gamemaster:Yeah, absolutely. You have little minis of each of the different groups, because that's easy enough to just have Eerie summon.
Argyle:Yeah.
Argyle:Argyle has like actual.
Argyle:He got like armor.
Argyle:That's not just like his his suit.
Argyle:And he's he's doing his best Jon Snow impression, except he doesn't know who that is.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Anzu:want it
Argyle:Yeah.
Johnny:Calarians, countrymen, lend me your ears.
Argyle:our guys when johnny does this gonna be like no no
Gamemaster:you get everybody's attention.
Anzu:That's actually offensive.
Gamemaster:A few of them look a little confused
Gamemaster:because they're not Calarian.
Gamemaster:Actually, the two people from the protection
Gamemaster:are probably a little annoyed at you for saying that.
Gamemaster:But, yeah, it's pretty rude.
Anzu:Ha ha ha.
Johnny:That one had the most syllables that rhyme the best.
Gamemaster:but um
Johnny:You guys know Shakespeare?
Argyle:i'm not i'm not from Calaria either i don't know why he's saying that but
Johnny:You guys know that one?
Johnny:He's a Rayleigh-only guy
Gamemaster:but everyone gets the intent
Johnny:Well you guys
Argyle:Yeah.
Johnny:It's a great play, you guys should read that one
Johnny:Anyway
Johnny:You know why we summoned you here
Johnny:Everything is bad
Johnny:As far as we know
Johnny:There was some sort of blip
Johnny:Something went tragically wrong
Gamemaster:Okay.
Johnny:And now we are off the map
Johnny:it looks like we are
Johnny:incredibly starward
Johnny:I don't know if any of you know
Johnny:but sort of on the
Johnny:would it be the north side?
Johnny:I guess I don't know if it makes sense on the strider
Johnny:over by
Johnny:wherever the harlequins were is now
Johnny:a death trap
Johnny:we did investigate yesterday
Johnny:and there are abominations
Johnny:pouring through
Johnny:now is the time to come together
Johnny:we have just
Gamemaster:Thank you nope
Johnny:received word that Grayson wants to parley
Johnny:at some point.
Johnny:So,
Johnny:I think the We need to come up with a plan The largest priorities right now one get the Strider up and running That pretty big Two stop the incursion Three unite the Strider because we can have Vulcanization right now
Anzu:you It just a translation
Johnny:That word doesn't really make sense in this setting, but...
Gamemaster:what are the Balkans
Anzu:It's yeah.
Gamemaster:yeah yeah
Johnny:You know, the Vulcans.
Gamemaster:it's
Gamemaster:yeah standing operating
Anzu:Okay.
Gamemaster:is we're doing Tolkien rules
Gamemaster:which is all of this is taking place in common
Gamemaster:which is a language none of us speaks
Benny:The subtitles...
Gamemaster:so it gets translated into English
Gamemaster:as we're doing the retelling
Gamemaster:so Balkanization I think would be
Gamemaster:that's actually never happened
Gamemaster:in the history
Gamemaster:of the continent that this
Gamemaster:campaign takes on there have never once
Gamemaster:been an instance where multiple
Gamemaster:countries have merged back together
Gamemaster:so that's a novel
Gamemaster:idea for them
Benny:or the dub is
Gamemaster:as he's like explaining what vulcanization is yeah absolutely god all this is telling me
Johnny:I invent the word balkanization
Benny:guys, we have to
Benny:stop the balkanization.
Benny:Like explaining what balkanization is.
Johnny:explain the idea of balkanization
Gamemaster:which makes vulcanization canon in this setting now because it's it's not immersion breaking
Gamemaster:it's fine you just invented a new term shakespeare did it so can johnny um absolutely uh uh
Gamemaster:To which I think Tas will be the first to speak and say,
Johnny:No, I'm saying that if, one, we need to stay as a strong unit, whatever Grayson is doing
Gamemaster:are you implying with this new word, balkanization,
Gamemaster:that you wish for us to ally with more people?
Johnny:is an immediate threat.
Johnny:we were playing this kind of cat and mouse game.
Johnny:We can do that anymore There is no room for fracturing anymore We are all in immediate danger We either work with Grayson or we have to eliminate him
Gamemaster:you tomorrow of the Protectorate
Gamemaster:the elven woman will say
Gamemaster:are you
Gamemaster:do you think we are capable
Gamemaster:of eliminating Grayson
Gamemaster:and it seems his alliance
Gamemaster:which would include the Pale Antrian Society,
Anzu:My personal feeling actually is that we should hear him out.
Gamemaster:necrolog,
Gamemaster:Ternion Heavy Industries.
Gamemaster:That's just assuming aren't.
Johnny:Oh, you're talking about hearing me out or hearing Grayson out?
Anzu:I'm talking about Grayson.
Johnny:Johnny takes it as though Anzu is saying we should hear Johnny out.
Anzu:We are in an absolutely unprecedented situation.
Gamemaster:Sorry.
Anzu:We may very well be beyond where anyone has ever returned from,
Gamemaster:Sorry.
Anzu:and we're going to need as much power and unity as we can get.
Anzu:the strider has been here before
Gamemaster:At that, Kadou will say,
Gamemaster:actually, and he's like fumbling around
Gamemaster:with the notebook that he's been writing stuff in,
Gamemaster:I have pretty good reason to believe
Gamemaster:that this Strider has been here before.
Gamemaster:Um, so, the Strider. Yeah, uh, so, like, very long story short, the metal is weird, um, and I've been, like, every once in a while when I have a free moment not doing some other crap trying to keep us alive and all that, uh, I've been, uh, like, kind of scraping up little metal shavings, uh, both from in the garages and from underneath. I hope you don't mind, I dug a hole in your, in your, in your sod.
Gamemaster:Anyway the metal weird and I been trying to figure out what alloy it is because you know something that happens with some of our caravans on particularly long transits is you start to see slip rust which is kind of like metal degrades just from over time
Argyle:you Sorry this is for Josh after he done with this
Gamemaster:And, like, the Striders in general, the Istrians, they're very productive people.
Gamemaster:And they had already figured... Yes? Yeah?
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:They had already figured out kind of a way around it, but it's very people-intensive.
Gamemaster:You've got to get people to effectively grease any of the metal that's exposed to the slip in between individual jumps.
Gamemaster:And they haven't been doing that here.
Gamemaster:I haven't seen anybody leave the underground to come up to put grease on the side of the Strider.
Gamemaster:But I don't see any rust either, and so I thought that was weird.
Gamemaster:And so I thought maybe I could, you know, take that and then eventually someday in the future, if we ever make it back, you know, recreate it and then use it for Alkahest frame and all.
Gamemaster:Anyway, I was having absolutely no luck whatsoever until I took the metal filings out here, wherever the hell we are, wherever the hells, neither of those exist in the setting. Translation error.
Gamemaster:and it like immediately oxidized but into the material that it's made out of like the missing
Anzu:Mm-hmm.
Gamemaster:component in this weird alloy is uh the air or something in the air here which is weird
Gamemaster:and like i don't know what to make of that except that the strider had already been here previously
Gamemaster:and just the exterior of the Strider just oxidized with whatever's going on here,
Gamemaster:and that's why it's fine now.
Anzu:and have you
Anzu:learned anything in relation to
Anzu:where we might be
Anzu:yeah
Gamemaster:No! It's been like 12 hours!
Argyle:is the cognitive thing that people understand in the setting
Gamemaster:Uh, yes, Jorge.
Anzu:Sorry.
Gamemaster:Some people are aware of the Black and White, which would be like the closest equivalent
Gamemaster:there.
Argyle:this obviously isn't the Black and White so
Argyle:other thing to note is that our
Gamemaster:This is not the Black and White.
Argyle:the Godhome isn't in the sky
Argyle:Are we in the Godhome?
Gamemaster:You can say that and the someone from the skill maybe Lance not Lance Bishop
Gamemaster:probably Bishop will say but we still got our raiment which means we're within
Gamemaster:the general range even if we can't see the Godhome they can still a grant us
Gamemaster:their miracles
Argyle:That'd be crazy.
Gamemaster:I don't...
Argyle:That'd be crazy.
Johnny:i'm gonna be very scary
Argyle:sure
Benny:Yeah, for them.
Gamemaster:Can I actually get a religion check?
Gamemaster:To see if you're in the Godhome?
Argyle:god poopy you know what i'll reroll
Johnny:absolutely terrifying if this is the Godhome
Argyle:uh that also needs mythic so that'll add an extra plus four
Gamemaster:37.
Argyle:So 37.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:The answer is that you can't know for sure,
Gamemaster:but this is probably not the Godhome.
Argyle:Yeah.
Gamemaster:There isn't much, if any, writing
Gamemaster:on what's actually on the other side,
Gamemaster:because in history there have only been 16 or 17 people
Gamemaster:that have made it to the other side of the Godhome and then came back And none of them happen to be particularly prolific writers especially whatever happened on the other side So actual descriptions of the Godhome are pretty slim
Argyle:you Yeah
Gamemaster:But the bits that do get described do not seem like an endless scoured gray wasteland.
Argyle:This is not it.
Gamemaster:They are described for the most part as, you know,
Gamemaster:the seat of the gods glowing in their splendor and all that stuff.
Johnny:I'll relay this all to Machine God as we're assessing this.
Argyle:i mean i'm assuming this is like the stillness that um
Gamemaster:And there's very little splendorous glowing going on at the moment.
Argyle:machine god talked about falling into but i don't have a machine god connector anymore um
Argyle:so i think from a tactical point of view we need to make sure we're not going to get stabbed in
Argyle:the back from other factions we need to now clear out that void mess and then we got to start looking
Johnny:I agree.
Argyle:at getting the strider moving i don't know how we're going to do that i don't know if we're
Argyle:going to start collecting tithes from people i don't know how that works but i would assume
Argyle:that's what we should do first in between getting it moving there might be a civil War on top to be
Argyle:honest with you guys i'd hope no maybe i don't know
Gamemaster:Civil War as in...
Johnny:Does anyone have any strong feelings about which job they would like to take on?
Argyle:Sorry, what was that guy saying?
Benny:people on this
Gamemaster:That was Tas saying civil War as in us killing the other members of the Strider?
Argyle:It was a War?
Benny:yeah
Gamemaster:Okay.
Benny:yeah
Gamemaster:Gotcha.
Argyle:Yeah.
Gamemaster:I didn't know if you were declaring your intent to kill the rest of us once we figured out how to get moving.
Argyle:No, no, no, no, no.
Argyle:I hope we're on the same side.
Argyle:And we each have a fame, so we have unlimited food.
Argyle:We're not getting tithed.
Argyle:So technically there isn't a constraint that I'm aware of.
Gamemaster:Thank you I not opposed
Argyle:Maybe there is but people aren going to want to sit here I assuming Grayson wants to parlay because he right next to that mess of the void
Anzu:you Do we have anyone in opposition to a conversation with Grayson
Gamemaster:But I think it'd be useful to go into the conversation
Gamemaster:with an idea of what you're willing to do or say
Johnny:I mean, we're in kind of an interesting position because there's not really, we're all stuck here.
Argyle:So what I'm assuming...
Anzu:Mm-hmm.
Gamemaster:for what outcomes you're looking for.
Gamemaster:Like, I don't know what the goal is going into this conversation.
Johnny:There's not really much we can give up.
Johnny:I mean, we all are stuck here.
Johnny:We're all in the same boat, more or less.
Johnny:maybe I would prefer we get moving again
Gamemaster:at that
Argyle:our guy's gonna walk over
Johnny:and then we can try and kill each other
Johnny:but I've been saying it from the beginning
Johnny:there's no reason for us to be killing each other
Johnny:we're all trying to get to the same place
Johnny:and now we're all fucked in the same place
Argyle:you go
Gamemaster:sorry Papa will also say
Gamemaster:that does also bring us
Gamemaster:another point we should try and figure
Gamemaster:out how we got here
Gamemaster:like I don't
Argyle:yeah
Gamemaster:want to be making our way back
Gamemaster:assuming we get this whole
Johnny:Are the twins in the room?
Gamemaster:mess a chunk up and run it again
Argyle:Yeah.
Gamemaster:and then we get
Gamemaster:knocked back here
Gamemaster:you need to make sure it can't happen again
Gamemaster:yes
Gamemaster:the twins are in the room
Gamemaster:they have not been participating in the conversation
Gamemaster:but they are in the room
Gamemaster:you can attempt a roll
Johnny:What do they look like right now?
Gamemaster:but I will say that
Gamemaster:the twins as you have discovered
Gamemaster:are pretty good liars
Johnny:I not going to roll
Gamemaster:they not really showing anything on their face about it Yep
Argyle:I So our guy gonna on that as he Walking over on that topic whatever being was collecting our ties i don know if you guys watched the tithe ceremony there some guy
Argyle:dancing or something up there maybe he imploded or something and they they exploded i don't know
Argyle:i'm not the learning type but he's gonna point at the War room the the void faction now and he's
Gamemaster:Uh-huh.
Argyle:going to go both sides that border it are Grayson the next one on the other side is also Grayson's
Argyle:guy I assume they want us to help him if we don't help him he's going to get overrun by the void
Argyle:if he stays if we don't help him it's also possible he lashes out and tries to
Argyle:get a new base that's what I'm that's what I'm guessing is happening
Argyle:we could let him be on the defensive.
Gamemaster:um
Anzu:we also have theoretically a very long journey ahead of us even to get back
Argyle:Maybe we help him out.
Argyle:Get rid of that thing.
Argyle:Let him duke it out with those guys.
Argyle:I mean, the other option is...
Anzu:to favor and prime so we may need as many people as we can get it may not be a question of you
Gamemaster:uh
Argyle:I think we're past the wall.
Anzu:can we take i don't want to take anybody out i i don't even know if it's an option we might
Gamemaster:Y'all of the Protectorate will say, do we know how far out we are?
Anzu:need as many people as possible just to get back we i mean yeah we our theory is that we've gone
Gamemaster:Like how long of a trek it'll be?
Argyle:Okay.
Anzu:beyond the starboard wall.
Anzu:But we don't have any proof.
Anzu:We don't have any numbers.
Anzu:We're still kind of trying to work that out.
Gamemaster:So we think that we are
Argyle:Yes.
Gamemaster:are further than anybody has returned from alive.
Anzu:Yes, with the exception of Kadou's revelation that this Strider has allegedly been here and returned.
Benny:Yep.
Gamemaster:Yeah, but do we think the devils were on it
Gamemaster:when that happened?
Anzu:I don't know.
Gamemaster:God, at the very least, eventually when we clean out,
Gamemaster:and I'm assuming this is something we can do,
Gamemaster:clean out those voing things.
Argyle:Yeah, to get it moving,
Anzu:Yeah, well, I also feel like probably the helm of this thing is somewhere in their territory.
Gamemaster:We can go rifling through
Gamemaster:the
Gamemaster:Harlequin stuff.
Gamemaster:See if that gives us any info.
Gamemaster:Frankly, I figured
Gamemaster:them dying at the very least would
Gamemaster:give us some information about what they were doing
Gamemaster:and I got more questions.
Gamemaster:yeah I have no idea they were steering them
Anzu:I could be wrong about that, but...
Argyle:We probably need to clear it out.
Johnny:Probably need an expedition into that territory.
Johnny:Step one, take control back of the Strider.
Johnny:Either from Grayson or we work with him, and then from the abominations.
Gamemaster:I think Kadou will speak up at this point and say,
Johnny:So step one, we need to secure the Strider.
Johnny:Step two, we need to get it moving again.
Johnny:Step three, we need to figure out how to get back inside the wall.
Johnny:Or we circumnavigate the wall and hit the Voidsong that way.
Argyle:At the very least, we try to make it back to prime.
Johnny:I'm not a smart guy, I don't know if we can do that.
Gamemaster:I don't know if we can circumvent the wall
Gamemaster:like the wall isn't
Gamemaster:I mean maybe you guys are talking about a different wall
Gamemaster:we're all referring to
Gamemaster:but there is like the wall
Gamemaster:is just kind of a boundary where people have gone and then not returned from I don think people think it physical Unless you think that there
Johnny:you Great
Argyle:Oh yeah Oh easy
Gamemaster:an actual physical wall.
Argyle:Easy.
Argyle:We got this one.
Gamemaster:So.
Johnny:That one's basically checked off.
Johnny:If we can figure out, you know, what dangers we might run into, any Giant monsters that
Johnny:we'll run into when we get past the wall, you know, plan for that.
Gamemaster:He will hold up
Gamemaster:the Atlas that has the void stuff.
Johnny:I would assume so.
Argyle:Well, the library is deep inside enemy territory, so I need to clear that out first.
Gamemaster:Do you think in the library, or what used to be the library,
Gamemaster:they have a starward version of this thing?
Johnny:Librarian's kind of an interesting guy, so get back to us on what he wants.
Gamemaster:Oh.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:They always are.
Johnny:Okay, step one.
Gamemaster:Just checklisting stuff.
Gamemaster:Sorry.
Argyle:Yeah.
Johnny:So we've got to meet with Grayson.
Johnny:We've got to take back the Harlequin's territory.
Gamemaster:Tas will say, does that help at this point?
Johnny:We gotta figure out where we are, we gotta get the helm, we gotta get the ship, the Strider
Argyle:I guess I'll just open this up again one more time.
Benny:I just.
Johnny:moving again.
Johnny:Anything else I left out?
Argyle:Should we all merge into a bigger group?
Argyle:Defend off whatever this is? I don't know.
Argyle:Mostly so we're all under the same roof
Argyle:if we're attacked by a faction
Gamemaster:I don't know if we all want to be in one place if we're attacked.
Argyle:or whatever those void things are.
Anzu:Yeah, he's probably right.
Argyle:Why? So we can flank them?
Gamemaster:No, just so that if one group gets wiped out, it doesn't mean the end of the resistance, or whatever you want to call it.
Argyle:Nah, they couldn't wipe all of us out at once.
Gamemaster:I think they could.
Gamemaster:I think we're in a situation where whatever these things are, if they are strong enough, and we don't have a good idea of how strong they are, it could wipe us all out.
Argyle:All right fair enough all right well
Gamemaster:And I rather at the very least you know not all be wiped out in one go
Argyle:we'll meet with Grayson and we'll let you guys let you know unless you have other things
Gamemaster:Okay, so, yeah.
Gamemaster:Bishop will say, okay, so general plan here at the moment is you're all going to go meet with Grayson.
Gamemaster:For the record, I'd like somebody not of your group to come with you, just to make sure, no offense, you're not doing something less than honest behind our backs.
Gamemaster:But besides that, you go, you talk what you need to talk about with him.
Gamemaster:What is the outcome here? What are the rest of us supposed to be doing?
Gamemaster:Do we think it's safe to leave the Strider?
Argyle:I...
Gamemaster:Because we have at least one plane.
Anzu:The atmosphere felt a little hostile.
Argyle:Yeah.
Gamemaster:Yeah, it's kind of chilly out there, but...
Gamemaster:I mean...
Argyle:I, um...
Argyle:I assume what we need to do is
Argyle:we might need to all
Argyle:together mount a party
Argyle:to try to go into the Void area
Argyle:and clear out what we can.
Argyle:We'll do Crusades.
Argyle:Stealth missions,
Argyle:clearing out a Voidheart
Argyle:one at a time.
Argyle:they also do self-close
Gamemaster:All right.
Argyle:at least that's what it looked like last time for a little bit
Argyle:so
Argyle:we could wait it
Argyle:I think we're going to need stealth missions
Argyle:to go in and
Argyle:get Void Hearts out
Argyle:we found they
Argyle:require echolocation
Argyle:if you make someone silent
Argyle:they can slip in
Argyle:and maybe we'll just take turns
Gamemaster:That is interesting.
Gamemaster:Now that doesn actually solve the problem of there are creatures right Alright
Argyle:hate
Argyle:someone
Argyle:silence
Argyle:them
Argyle:yeah you gotta be well we need to close them up and then we need to kill them
Argyle:the ones left
Argyle:we could banish them
Gamemaster:Alright.
Argyle:that'll take a while
Gamemaster:It's not feasible
Gamemaster:unless there's only like two.
Argyle:yeah
Gamemaster:Alright, well.
Argyle:I could do like two a day
Gamemaster:No.
Anzu:All right, so then who's coming to chat with Grayson?
Anzu:Josh, did the letter, was it written to anybody in particular,
Anzu:or did it just say?
Gamemaster:It was just left at your front door.
Anzu:Yeah, so I think anybody can go.
Gamemaster:Um...
Gamemaster:I think...
Gamemaster:probably...
Gamemaster:Tamara of the Protectorate would volunteer.
Gamemaster:Um...
Argyle:resisting mind control.
Gamemaster:Hmm
Benny:It's also a good
Gamemaster:Resisting mind control
Gamemaster:I don't know if any of them want to necessarily offer that information
Gamemaster:Yeah. Yeah. Sorry, I was looking something else up and I saw this on the website.
Argyle:I'm giving it as a warning.
Benny:It's a
Argyle:I'm giving that as a warning to these people.
Benny:Good offer
Argyle:i think it also sets the stage with who grayson is we're like hey by the way you
Benny:Hey is anyone in this room good at resisting mind control
Benny:Yeah can you come with us
Benny:It's like what are you going to do to me
Benny:I can't believe it.
Argyle:guys want to not be controlled by this guy we'll try that
Argyle:oh it's it's made after d jimothy that's so cool
Gamemaster:Hold on.
Gamemaster:Yeah.
Argyle:very cool
Gamemaster:Yeah, you can play with Jimothy now, is the name of the source.
Gamemaster:Yeah, I think...
Gamemaster:Tomorrow would volunteer, and then...
Gamemaster:Tas definitely wouldn't
Gamemaster:Bishop might
Gamemaster:I think Bishop would because Paavo definitely won't
Gamemaster:so
Gamemaster:it'll be Bishop and Tamara
Gamemaster:the rest of them will
Gamemaster:I think if there's no else
Gamemaster:no other like
Gamemaster:immediate things to happen they'll probably want to
Gamemaster:to get back home
Gamemaster:and
Gamemaster:just kind of let the rest of the people know what's going on in their factions,
Johnny:One thing.
Argyle:Yeah.
Benny:We're all, I mean, in the same boat.
Gamemaster:of which they know astonishingly little.
Gamemaster:But I kind of want to make Benny roll a deception.
Benny:Benny didn't say that.
Gamemaster:I think, I know, I think what I want,
Benny:Mike said that.
Gamemaster:I think what I do want is that one of you, probably Johnny,
Gamemaster:because he's the one that's been talking a bunch
Johnny:I think my 35 says that we did not lie and we have no idea what's happening.
Benny:What?
Gamemaster:does need to roll a deception check
Gamemaster:just to like
Gamemaster:give off the general idea that you guys
Gamemaster:don't know what's going on
Gamemaster:because you do know
Gamemaster:a little bit more and you have lied
Gamemaster:to them
Gamemaster:one second
Benny:this ain't gonna be contested by
Johnny:That's so high.
Johnny:That's a high number.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Benny:sense motives
Argyle:And what information will we withholding yeah like it like what could have happened like could we have like got 20 stone figurines and
Gamemaster:It can.
Gamemaster:They would roll a sense motive check against his deception.
Gamemaster:But that was high enough that looking at their values,
Gamemaster:I'm not going to roll that.
Gamemaster:I will say that you, as best you can tell,
Gamemaster:it doesn't look like anybody is unduly alarmed
Gamemaster:that you might be withholding information.
Gamemaster:but they will um They wouldn know
Argyle:held a a play to summon a eldritch super god that speaks in rings and then he told them yeah well
Gamemaster:Oh, that is...
Argyle:to do it. You have to shoot me with this
Argyle:the end. Like, that's
Johnny:I think it's just go away.
Gamemaster:I would say that your play, like your stage, is still around.
Argyle:preposterous.
Argyle:I assume
Argyle:we've zapped that out of existence with our heart.
Gamemaster:You cannot.
Gamemaster:It's there now.
Gamemaster:But, no, it's a...
Argyle:We can just hack it.
Gamemaster:No, no, no, no.
Gamemaster:You don't understand.
Gamemaster:It doesn't go away.
Argyle:Oh.
Gamemaster:it's there now
Argyle:Are the stones there too?
Benny:but also but also to our to our deceptive not deceptive kind but to our benefit even if someone
Gamemaster:yeah
Gamemaster:you are saved by the fact that
Gamemaster:nobody who attended
Gamemaster:seems to know what the
Gamemaster:men here are they're not common
Gamemaster:knowledge they just see
Gamemaster:a stage with some rocks
Gamemaster:around it
Gamemaster:yeah like
Argyle:this
Benny:knows who the Menhir are,
Benny:what are the odds they're like,
Benny:wait, you guys, you four fucking
Benny:dumbos killed the Menhir? This is the
Benny:Menhir' bodies right here?
Benny:At best, it would
Gamemaster:yeah no so like the answer is it is very incriminating and no one knows that so you're
Benny:look like a failed homage.
Benny:Like, oh, you guys heard about the Menhir too?
Benny:Yeah, no, we've
Benny:been real close to them.
Gamemaster:fine.
Argyle:have you seen clips of like
Benny:Oh Boki Oh Bohemian
Argyle:is it in Hollywood
Argyle:they call it like the mole tech or something like that where like the Hollywood elites allegedly were like burning by a campfire with a an owl figurine that what this reminds me of bohemian grove
Gamemaster:I have no idea what you talking about
Benny:Grove.
Argyle:yeah
Gamemaster:Either way, they will shuffle off with the exception of the two.
Benny:We just have the Bohemian Grove owl
Benny:in our front yard. We're like, we don't know what you guys are talking about
Benny:eating babies. We don't do that here.
Johnny:Yeah.
Anzu:I don't know what he's going to ask.
Benny:Sure.
Johnny:Go on over to Giacomo's.
Gamemaster:That's a crazy image.
Gamemaster:Along with the two, Yao and Bishop, sorry, Tamara and Bishop, who have opted to accompany
Johnny:Yeah.
Johnny:Yeah.
Johnny:Go on over to Giacomo's.
Gamemaster:you to this meeting with Grayson.
Johnny:Yeah.
Johnny:All right.
Johnny:All right.
Johnny:All right.
Johnny:All right.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Argyle:uh heroism
Gamemaster:So we will forward a little bit if you guys didn't have anything else you wanted to do.
Gamemaster:we can jump forward to
Gamemaster:you guys are heading out to
Johnny:What's up?
Gamemaster:to Giacomo's which is
Gamemaster:canon
Gamemaster:and
Gamemaster:around the
Johnny:Are you hearing?
Gamemaster:the time of your meeting
Gamemaster:is there anything you wanted to do before you entered the building
Argyle:casting that
Argyle:on
Johnny:Cool.
Argyle:Johnny.
Anzu:I can't stir a strike.
Johnny:What's up?
Johnny:Are you hearing me?
Argyle:Yeah, yeah.
Argyle:And me. I'm going to cast on both of us.
Argyle:Hopefully so Johnny can speak better
Argyle:and then if he tries to mind control me
Argyle:I can resist it and then unmind control
Argyle:other people.
Argyle:Because I think right now I'm the only one who can
Argyle:counteract mind control.
Johnny:In case it does come up in case it becomes relevant very soon everyone permanently within 15 feet of me gets a plus one status bonus to attack rolls and I can give everyone a reroll with a plus two status bonus against one ongoing negative
Argyle:Thank you Okay
Anzu:Oh Oh
Benny:Thank you Oh nice
Gamemaster:you Okay
Johnny:effect or condition currently affecting them requiring a save. So everyone stick close.
Johnny:I'm actually also going to do that. That's a good call.
Argyle:And mythic power.
Argyle:I'm going to do that.
Argyle:Yeah, yeah, why not?
Anzu:No.
Johnny:Do I have anything else? All my other stuff.
Johnny:Perceive the Threads of Fate only lasts for a minute.
Argyle:Wait, wait, before we go in,
Johnny:Okay.
Argyle:should we just, like, totally fucking kill this guy?
Anzu:I'm telling you.
Argyle:Like, should we just, should we just anoint Benny
Argyle:with all of the spells we have
Argyle:and just ninja benny walks up and just
Gamemaster:Don't know the sanctity of Jackass.
Anzu:Giacomo's is supposed to be a neutral space.
Benny:You're going to ruin the sanctity of Giacomo's.
Argyle:yeah but that's old
Argyle:should we just totally fucking kill this guy
Gamemaster:It's true.
Argyle:we're talking to him he doesn't understand that ninja benny's invisible behind him
Anzu:They have such good couscous.
Johnny:Let's hear him out.
Gamemaster:Yes.
Anzu:Dude.
Benny:he's just fucking twitching
Argyle:just like jittering with haste
Anzu:Dude.
Argyle:haste
Argyle:yeah uh wait can one of you guys ask machine god how did he move before the ties
Benny:behind him like in a horror movie
Argyle:if we unlocked those other things
Argyle:would he be able to move
Anzu:Machine God, can you hear me?
Anzu:something we're
Anzu:curious about
Anzu:is you know
Anzu:prior to the
Anzu:Harlequins making
Anzu:all their
Anzu:adjustments to the
Gamemaster:Before whatever machinery your fiends attached to the Strider, we had engine hearts all throughout
Anzu:Strider, what powered its movement?
Anzu:You know, now we have the tithe, but what was it like before?
Gamemaster:the Strider that granted the mode of force that the Strider used to navigate.
Gamemaster:Pieces of hearts, not fully formed.
Anzu:Hmm.
Argyle:Was it here?
Gamemaster:Long dead. Long before those devils arrived on the station. They just burned out over
Anzu:And what is the status of those?
Anzu:So, right, was the Strider dormant for a long time?
Gamemaster:the years. They need to be maintained and they weren't.
Gamemaster:Hundreds of years.
Anzu:was it a starward trek by any chance
Argyle:Can you ask him?
Gamemaster:We made a multi-century trek out to the edge of the world and then stayed there for another
Gamemaster:a few centuries.
Argyle:ask him if the current hearts on top can be repurposed for this
Anzu:yeah
Gamemaster:I believe so.
Gamemaster:are you
Anzu:yeah
Anzu:There's stuff on top of this strider that you can't see.
Gamemaster:are you just
Gamemaster:relaying things
Gamemaster:for Argyle
Gamemaster:I will
Gamemaster:reinstate a connection
Gamemaster:this is more annoying
Gamemaster:than punishing him
Anzu:Yeah, I feel like I'm the one that suffered the most from all this.
Gamemaster:There is a very soft ping in the back of your mind, Argyle, as the connection re-accerts
Gamemaster:itself.
Gamemaster:What do you want Isn that already what happening Their energy is being used to propel the Strider forward
Argyle:I'm sorry for all the inconvenience I've caused.
Argyle:Would we be able to repurpose these lesser hearts on top of you to help be like those machinery hearts that you use to move They being tithed Were the other hearts being tithed as well
Gamemaster:That is much similar to how the Engine Hearts functioned.
Argyle:OK.
Argyle:Did they need to constantly feed the energy hearts
Gamemaster:No, the gods donated their energy to the hearts that were created in their name.
Argyle:with magical items to keep it moving?
Argyle:if um
Gamemaster:They had a boundless supply of songs.
Gamemaster:They were used for motion exclusively, which they were.
Argyle:we've told machine god about the the the ashen pack we didn't know their name back then oh we
Gamemaster:I don't think so.
Argyle:did. Do we tell them the name when we found it out?
Argyle:Because we did the mind control inside
Argyle:Machine Guard's domain.
Gamemaster:Well, it said lifelines at the time.
Argyle:I don't know if we told them.
Argyle:Yeah.
Argyle:Okay.
Argyle:Okay.
Argyle:All right.
Argyle:If we...
Argyle:Yeah.
Argyle:Okay.
Gamemaster:Oh, all six of the first Hierophants traveled on the Strider.
Argyle:How did they contact the gods to get those booms?
Argyle:Was it just Aurelia had a hookup?
Gamemaster:They all spoke to the gods.
Argyle:That's true.
Argyle:That's true.
Argyle:OK.
Argyle:All right.
Argyle:Well, I guess we should get to that parlay.
Gamemaster:And you can navigate can I get a perception check as you guys are walking towards the exterior of this building
Johnny:Thank you I got a 31
Argyle:I got another hero point.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:31 was the best one we got?
Argyle:I got a 19 crit.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:A 19 critical miss.
Argyle:Yeah, I have a plus 18.
Gamemaster:Critical Fumble? Okay. Okay, that's both simultaneously good and bad.
Argyle:Yeah.
Argyle:Yeah.
Gamemaster:All right, nothing stands out to you with that roll, I think. One second.
Argyle:With 31?
Gamemaster:Yeah, with a 31.
Gamemaster:I need that one.
Gamemaster:Yeah, nothing sits at you.
Johnny:Careful.
Argyle:I wish he made this a Dana later so I could have prepared better spells.
Anzu:He works on his time, not yours.
Benny:Mm-hmm.
Argyle:This bastard.
Argyle:I would have paired like seeing visibility and shit, but I don't have that prepared.
Gamemaster:I don't know what to tell you.
Argyle:Yeah, it's very smart of him.
Gamemaster:You guys are entering?
Gamemaster:Okay.
Argyle:Are we checking for...
Anzu:in Giacomo's
Benny:He would never do that to us.
Argyle:Detect magic? Traps?
Argyle:Anzu?
Anzu:does
Argyle:Yes!
Argyle:Yes!
Anzu:I check the door
Gamemaster:That was something.
Gamemaster:Detect Magic has a range of 30 feet which means that you not going to Like you could get the door as you walking up but you not going to get much of the interior if you casting detect magic but you welcome to do that if you like the door is not magic
Argyle:Yeah Yeah
Anzu:Argyle.
Anzu:If we go in acting like there's going to be death at any second,
Anzu:then there's going to be death.
Anzu:We got to go in with an open mind.
Gamemaster:at any second
Argyle:Well, closed mind to mind control.
Anzu:Okay.
Anzu:I'm going to enter.
Gamemaster:okay absolutely um you walk in uh this restaurant was never actually crowded even even like you know
Benny:what
Gamemaster:the beginning of the trip when everybody was friends because that's totally a thing that was
Gamemaster:happening um but uh there are no more wait staff or cooks um so the only people uh in this
Gamemaster:restaurant are the six of you, seven if you count to follow, as well as, as you walk in,
Gamemaster:one of the tables, it's not set, but there is like a tablecloth that's been left there
Gamemaster:from whoever set it the last time there were people actually waiting in this restaurant,
Gamemaster:and sat at one edge of this large round table
Gamemaster:is a very expensively dressed, if nothing else,
Argyle:I think gray hair.
Gamemaster:human man, stark white hair,
Gamemaster:looks like he's never worked a day in his life.
Gamemaster:You have seen him from a distance,
Gamemaster:but you haven't seen him up close and looking at you.
Gamemaster:this is
Gamemaster:Silven Grayson
Gamemaster:a little young to be
Gamemaster:the scion of the Grayson family
Gamemaster:at this point, he's like mid-twenties
Gamemaster:sat
Gamemaster:he does, he has
Gamemaster:completely white hair
Gamemaster:which is
Gamemaster:in keeping with you had seen a portrait of Brandon Grayson,
Gamemaster:of the head of the Grayson family,
Gamemaster:who similarly has completely bleached white hair.
Gamemaster:You don't know if that's a family trait or a side effect
Gamemaster:or something of that nature,
Gamemaster:but that is something that both of them had.
Gamemaster:Sat not next to him,
Gamemaster:but like a few seats down around the table are two more people.
Gamemaster:There is a much older man in what looks to be this kind of shimmering pink and purple and green cleric's vestment.
Gamemaster:You have spoken to him once.
Gamemaster:This is Stoke of the Iridescent Church.
Gamemaster:the thing that you would recognize here
Gamemaster:because it's kind of stand out about the guy
Gamemaster:is that he is blind
Johnny:Do we, having met this some guy before, do we recognize the guy?
Gamemaster:both of his eyes are completely clouded over
Gamemaster:and sat next to him is some guy
Gamemaster:but other than that
Gamemaster:the table is empty
Gamemaster:there are plenty of seats around
Gamemaster:Grayson looks up and sees the six of you
Gamemaster:and gestures for you to come over and take a seat
Gamemaster:yes
Gamemaster:yeah he's just like a guy
Gamemaster:he's been on the strider
Johnny:But is this the same guy that we met when we were in here that one time?
Argyle:now that
Anzu:Yeah.
Gamemaster:I don't know that guy was some guy
Johnny:And he was like, I work for the Ministry of Cultural Progress.
Gamemaster:this guy is some guy
Gamemaster:it's just like a guy
Gamemaster:like why are you asking so much
Anzu:I'm not really concerned about this at all.
Gamemaster:about just some dude
Argyle:now that we know a little bit more
Gamemaster:yeah it's weird
Anzu:So.
Gamemaster:I will allow a will save
Argyle:about some wood
Johnny:Wild that I'm being gaslit outside the game.
Argyle:now that we know a little bit more about this guy
Argyle:and can I look for mandibles
Gamemaster:yeah absolutely but only after you attempted your will save yes this is a mental
Johnny:Thank you Oh that should have been plus 20
Argyle:Okay, is this a mental effect?
Gamemaster:effect
Gamemaster:39
Johnny:I got a 30.
Johnny:So it was 39 because I forgot to add heroism.
Argyle:Oh yeah, I did too, so mine's a 29.
Johnny:And now that I have also, I don't know if this,
Gamemaster:29. 29 is not enough. This is just some guy.
Gamemaster:39 is enough.
Gamemaster:This is some guy, but it's a guy that you've seen before.
Gamemaster:You spoke to him in this restaurant previously,
Gamemaster:and Benny had actually interacted with him for a little bit
Gamemaster:on your first day here in the gym.
Gamemaster:This is the representative
Gamemaster:for the Ministry of Cultural Progress,
Gamemaster:MoCuP, Giannos.
Johnny:matters, but I now have performer's heart.
Gamemaster:Nice!
Anzu:There's something in there.
Benny:Something needs help.
Gamemaster:Yeah, you absolutely can!
Johnny:So when I get a success on a will save,
Johnny:I get a crit success.
Johnny:With that, can I look for mandibles?
Gamemaster:Roll a perception check.
Benny:Okay.
Gamemaster:He's just yelling at the closets.
Gamemaster:What are you doing?
Johnny:That's not great.
Johnny:23.
Johnny:23.
Gamemaster:you doing? You want to go look at my shoes? You can look at my shoes. What do you want?
Johnny:I got 23.
Argyle:Did these other two people...
Anzu:That was perfectly sassy.
Benny:What do you want?
Gamemaster:We'll see if he goes in there now that I've opened it.
Gamemaster:With the 23
Argyle:Sorry, go ahead.
Johnny:I don't think I see mandibles.
Gamemaster:You don't see mandibles
Gamemaster:With the 23
Gamemaster:You looking pretty intensely At this guy face Trying to see if anything going on He got like a pretty big cleft but it looks like his chin is intact
Johnny:Bye this guy
Argyle:you um does okay
Benny:Thank you Big cliffs
Gamemaster:You don't see any, like, mandibles.
Gamemaster:So, is a circular table. There is no head of a circular table, but the seat that is
Argyle:do these seem to be sitting on like the same side as grayson as if it's like
Argyle:team grayson then team us or they just also parlay
Argyle:okay
Gamemaster:furthest away from the entrance so that he can see it is Grayson. About 120 degrees around
Gamemaster:the circle are Stoke and Janice.
Argyle:because i know grayson went to uh the Protectorate to try to eliminate them i was wondering if that
Argyle:was a test or if it looks like he's still not friends with them and it looks like he might
Argyle:happy friends. Maybe.
Anzu:in the church?
Argyle:Yeah.
Argyle:He told the Protectorate that,
Argyle:hey, let's eliminate the church.
Argyle:All right.
Anzu:I'm gonna take a seat.
Gamemaster:Absolutely.
Gamemaster:he'll like gesture for all of you to take a seat
Argyle:I'll see.
Gamemaster:and then he'll say
Gamemaster:I am pleasantly surprised
Gamemaster:that you would come to this little meeting
Gamemaster:I'm afraid I don't have refreshments
Gamemaster:because somebody killed the wait staff
Gamemaster:listen
Gamemaster:I've done some searching around
Gamemaster:it's been like 12 hours or so
Gamemaster:I imagine the rest of you
Gamemaster:have been similarly interested
Gamemaster:in the events that have preceded
Gamemaster:our precipitous
Gamemaster:launch across
Gamemaster:the infinite horizon in the way that we have
Gamemaster:and so I figured
Gamemaster:I would jump ahead of whatever scheming you may have been planning as no doubt you have been at least if you are even a little bit
Gamemaster:intelligent
Gamemaster:and say
Gamemaster:I would prefer it if
Gamemaster:until we are at the very least
Gamemaster:back at
Gamemaster:Færrin Prime, if we could
Gamemaster:hold off
Gamemaster:on hostilities
Gamemaster:to perhaps share some knowledge
Gamemaster:I am afraid
Gamemaster:We have quite a few hands to help with work, but we are limited in competent researchers.
Gamemaster:We only took a handful on board.
Gamemaster:It seems the rest of you are perhaps a different mix, missing in pure physical labor but plenty
Gamemaster:of pencil pushers who now have a chance to do something.
Gamemaster:Yeah, you absolutely can.
Johnny:Insuperlex? Insurmountable, that's the word.
Argyle:I can, I will also, oh, did you?
Johnny:Can I clock if there's any reaction from any of them?
Gamemaster:That would be perception.
Gamemaster:That's a good throw in there.
Johnny:That's a 36 crit.
Argyle:Okay.
Argyle:I'm not going to roll.
Gamemaster:That's a 36 crit.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:One second.
Argyle:Does he have mandibles?
Argyle:Does he have mandibles?
Gamemaster:The answer here...
Johnny:I stare at this.
Benny:forget this
Benny:man
Johnny:This man will split the game.
Gamemaster:The answer here is that there are people who absolutely refer to
Johnny:He's going like this.
Johnny:Ah!
Gamemaster:Inciperlix being thrown in there.
Gamemaster:It is not Grayson.
Gamemaster:Both Stoke and Giannos seem to very, very briefly,
Gamemaster:covering it up real quick, seem to recognize that term.
Johnny:Okay, that tracks for both of them.
Johnny:Interesting that it's not on Grayson.
Argyle:I think
Johnny:I'll ping that out to everyone in the monologue.
Johnny:chat. With seeing that reaction, I will actually turn away from Grayson to these two and say,
Argyle:Grayson's too evil.
Argyle:Like, I think he might just be like...
Johnny:you know, it seems like we're facing a big problem here. A lot of, it seems like some
Johnny:sort of outside force has really shunted us out here and I don't know if there's enough meddling,
Johnny:but we're happy to make an alliance until we can get back.
Argyle:Good move, Noah.
Gamemaster:Stoke will say
Johnny:We weren't scheming.
Johnny:We were trying to figure out how to get our asses out of here.
Johnny:I'm sure you two gentlemen, having been around a bit, can understand that.
Johnny:I'll look at Grayson, look back at the two.
Gamemaster:Stoke will say
Gamemaster:I
Gamemaster:I
Gamemaster:I think perhaps
Gamemaster:what you're quibbling with is his term
Gamemaster:scheming, but it
Gamemaster:wouldn't be
Gamemaster:unfair to say that you have been
Gamemaster:making alliances with some groups
Gamemaster:and not with others.
Gamemaster:Not by your decision, necessarily,
Gamemaster:but we have definitely collected
Gamemaster:into three greater
Gamemaster:alliances.
Gamemaster:I think we can speak plainly about that.
Gamemaster:I, for one,
Gamemaster:have no
Gamemaster:reason to say no to this.
Gamemaster:I am concerned about the lack of God
Argyle:I say in Machine Gun chat,
Anzu:I am inclined to agree with you folks I think that we been put in enough external danger that we don need any extra internal danger
Gamemaster:home in the sky and would appreciate
Gamemaster:being back under its light as soon as possible
Gamemaster:and if working with all of you to make sure that we safely make that
Gamemaster:transit is how it happens then I am more than happy to oblige
Gamemaster:...
Gamemaster:...
Argyle:we invited every single one of these fuckers into our alliance,
Argyle:and they said no Now they acting as if And then Argyle stops himself
Anzu:Yeah.
Argyle:So,
Argyle:before
Argyle:our group agrees,
Argyle:what does this
Argyle:actually mean? No...
Argyle:Just an alliance? A ceasefire?
Argyle:Are we going to put sources?
Gamemaster:Grayson...
Argyle:Are we going to do crusades?
Argyle:What is this?
Gamemaster:Grayson will say,
Gamemaster:under no circumstances
Gamemaster:will I permit
Gamemaster:any of you
Gamemaster:onto my property.
Gamemaster:And I think it would be healthy if you all
Gamemaster:kept a similar
Gamemaster:outlook. Which of course
Gamemaster:means that if we wish to converse, then
Gamemaster:I imagine we should be taking over
Gamemaster:this central area. A neutral
Gamemaster:zone.
Johnny:Let's couscous around.
Gamemaster:if that were. I would appreciate... I'm just keeping in the spirit of Giacomo's.
Anzu:What did I say?
Gamemaster:I would appreciate some information sharing, if you were willing. I understand that that
Gamemaster:isn't perhaps the best idea from an information security standpoint, but I think we are beyond
Gamemaster:that. We're always playing games. If you think that games stop just because you're in danger,
Johnny:Do you think we're still playing games?
Johnny:we're all so fucked
Johnny:we're not playing games
Johnny:so someone
Gamemaster:that means that you are just not holding on to the games hard enough. That means I will win.
Johnny:puts a knife in your face while you're playing
Gamemaster:No, I stab back, that just means the game had more rules than I originally thought.
Johnny:chess and you clutch the chess board tighter
Johnny:or
Johnny:uh Thank you
Gamemaster:That's childish.
Gamemaster:Please please listen I want information and I willing to donate what information we have as well as able bodies if you need to construct things or you need resources of that nature
Argyle:I like that.
Anzu:you want information
Gamemaster:We have no lack of those, and I imagine we'll continue to get more as time goes on.
Anzu:Well, I could tell you something that we learned today.
Gamemaster:um at you saying that uh the that guy that's just here too
Anzu:we became aware through some, I guess, scientific exploration
Anzu:that this particular point on the horizon that we're at
Anzu:is somewhere this strider has been before.
Anzu:Which means we're not stuck.
Anzu:It's been here and left.
Argyle:Not good.
Gamemaster:um will speak up and say oh yeah that actually we've been we've been digging around um
Gamemaster:under underneath the strider and uh there are a lot of references to
Gamemaster:you know um like a timeline generally i don't know if you've spoken much to the locals
Gamemaster:but
Gamemaster:there's like a
Gamemaster:they've got a general mythology going on
Gamemaster:and as part of that
Gamemaster:there's
Gamemaster:like a very long stay
Gamemaster:in their genealogical history
Gamemaster:at some place
Gamemaster:they call it the lore
Gamemaster:if you think we've been here
Gamemaster:before that's probably it
Gamemaster:it might be worth plumbing them for info
Gamemaster:I will say
Gamemaster:they have like
Gamemaster:they have an average lifespan of 15 years or so,
Gamemaster:so it's not like you're going to get much that isn't hearsay,
Gamemaster:but could be an interesting context there Yeah like the slaves that live under the Strider that keep all that stuff going for us
Johnny:You mean like over in Tally
Argyle:you And Grayson what was this information you were going to share
Gamemaster:Interesting folk, I must say. They do like their blood sports, which is always interesting.
Gamemaster:Grayson will say, well I didn't realize that we were going to be sharing information so quickly.
Gamemaster:Let's see, what would be good for all of you?
Gamemaster:you've all shared one thing
Gamemaster:so I can share one thing
Gamemaster:I will
Gamemaster:I will let you
Gamemaster:choose
Gamemaster:would you rather it be
Gamemaster:about
Gamemaster:our now dead
Gamemaster:companions
Gamemaster:and the technology that they wrought
Gamemaster:given that we had been
Gamemaster:digging into that a little bit
Gamemaster:or
Gamemaster:would you prefer it be
Gamemaster:about
Gamemaster:what else could it be about
Gamemaster:what could be fun
Gamemaster:I don't know
Gamemaster:you could ask me something I suppose
Gamemaster:if you don't want to learn about
Gamemaster:our once hosts
Gamemaster:I could tell you something within my power
Gamemaster:frankly a lot of our
Gamemaster:information gathering has been just
Argyle:yeah i know what we've been up to so
Anzu:I don't want to speak for everyone,
Benny:Yeah.
Gamemaster:your secrets
Gamemaster:and I don't know if that would be particularly interesting to you to be heard read back.
Anzu:but I'd be interested in hearing what the Harlequins were up to.
Argyle:we're like all completely unfazed that he's trying to tell us there's a spy in the network
Gamemaster:He would say
Gamemaster:he would say
Argyle:we're like
Anzu:I already know who it is.
Gamemaster:okay
Gamemaster:okay
Gamemaster:Um, the Harlequins, our former hosts, they might still be alive, I don't know, uh, maybe not in that, uh, little house of theirs, but they gotta be spread throughout the Strider at some point.
Gamemaster:anyway, they were
Gamemaster:doing all of this bidding
Gamemaster:on behalf
Gamemaster:of a
Gamemaster:kind of entity
Gamemaster:that has been living
Gamemaster:outside of our
Gamemaster:firmament for some time now.
Gamemaster:Not a long time, but some time now.
Johnny:Yeah.
Argyle:He's one of the six that we know about, right?
Benny:Yeah.
Gamemaster:Called
Gamemaster:War.
Gamemaster:Just putting that out there.
Gamemaster:yeah
Argyle:Right now.
Johnny:Yeah.
Argyle:Yeah.
Gamemaster:I know
Johnny:He's the one that we miss.
Gamemaster:because they had
Gamemaster:separately approached
Gamemaster:my family through a liaison
Gamemaster:asking if we would be willing
Gamemaster:to help accomplish some tasks
Gamemaster:that things wearing those
Gamemaster:gaudy costumes couldn't on the strider
Johnny:The irony of this is what you see.
Argyle:When he says
Gamemaster:we said no
Gamemaster:of course
Gamemaster:we're not gonna align with any
Gamemaster:strange outer entity
Gamemaster:of the lack, but I thought I'd put that
Gamemaster:out there.
Gamemaster:Yes.
Argyle:outer entity, can I look at
Argyle:everyone else also to see if they
Argyle:know about this Ashen Pack?
Gamemaster:You can attempt a perception check.
Argyle:Yeah.
Johnny:This is Grayson saying his family is not going to align with an outer entity.
Gamemaster:Uh-huh.
Johnny:He's dumb. He's a dummy.
Argyle:I got
Benny:Yeah Thank you Yeah
Argyle:I got
Argyle:32. Are you looking also, Johnny?
Johnny:Yeah, I was just flabbergasted by how dumb this kid is.
Johnny:I got a 32.
Johnny:Is that the same as you?
Argyle:Should I?
Argyle:Mythic?
Argyle:Is this important enough?
Argyle:Yeah Yeah All right And I just make any
Gamemaster:with a 30 with a 32 you don get any additional like nobody has any tells on their face or
Gamemaster:anything like that for the 32.
Gamemaster:I will say, I think there is, with the 32 perception here, the thing of note, I guess,
Gamemaster:although I'm pretty sure you're just reading it
Gamemaster:out of normal conversation
Anzu:We love nepotism.
Gamemaster:Silven Grayson
Gamemaster:you guys have been painting
Gamemaster:in your head
Gamemaster:this like evil mastermind
Gamemaster:kind of vibe for him
Gamemaster:and every word out of his mouth
Gamemaster:kind of moves that image more into
Gamemaster:rich kid over his head
Gamemaster:a little bit
Gamemaster:he is commanding the room
Anzu:We love nepotism.
Gamemaster:sorry
Gamemaster:yeah a little bit
Gamemaster:he is commanding the room as it were because
Gamemaster:he has rarely
Gamemaster:fallen into a position where he wasn't
Gamemaster:the most important person in the room
Gamemaster:or related to the most important person in the room
Gamemaster:but it is
Gamemaster:not
Gamemaster:in his skill set
Gamemaster:necessarily here
Gamemaster:to be
Gamemaster:like the kind of
Gamemaster:schemer necessarily
Gamemaster:that you've been attributing to him.
Gamemaster:Or he is a very, very
Johnny:We thought this kid was like
Benny:What was with the
Gamemaster:good schemer and is attempting
Gamemaster:to pull one over you,
Gamemaster:as it were. With a 32,
Gamemaster:I don't think it's possible to differentiate
Gamemaster:between those two possibilities.
Johnny:the heir to his grandfather's empire
Johnny:and this super scheming guy
Johnny:and instead he's just the kid
Johnny:that they needed to send somewhere
Johnny:and they were like, I don't know what's happening.
Johnny:Go over there and deal with this.
Benny:trying to kill people at the ball then?
Johnny:I think he a jerk I think he I think we thought he was Cersei but he just Joffrey
Argyle:he still a joffrey he he not yeah he still bad but i don know if he necessarily has all the secret sauce there was an interesting thing with um when we killed a deer man where he
Anzu:you Yeah but he was crazy
Benny:controlling of the yeah
Argyle:said something like i'm using them he thinks they're using me i'm using them so
Argyle:yeah yeah i don't know who's done yeah okay um what is the i look at the
Anzu:Yes.
Johnny:Yeah.
Benny:well
Benny:aren't we all
Gamemaster:I think
Argyle:uh tecturate and Scale representatives i'm like do you have um what are your thoughts here
Gamemaster:Tamara is
Gamemaster:pretty obviously suspicious of this
Gamemaster:but similarly
Gamemaster:she is not a political creature by nature
Gamemaster:she's more of a hit things over the head
Gamemaster:until they're dead
Gamemaster:kind of person
Gamemaster:and so she's kind of defaulted to the pattern that she uses with the people who make the decisions
Gamemaster:of the Protectorate which is you guys have declared yourselves in charge she is a weapon
Gamemaster:that you can point in a particular direction and at the moment you don't seem to be aggressive
Gamemaster:so she's copying that bishop is way happier to make this deal if nothing else because it will
Gamemaster:let him focus their
Argyle:Hmm.
Gamemaster:attentions a little bit
Gamemaster:outward for a moment.
Gamemaster:He doesn't
Gamemaster:think
Gamemaster:that
Gamemaster:he will need to be any
Gamemaster:more paranoid than he already
Gamemaster:is about being betrayed
Argyle:Hmm.
Gamemaster:by people. And so at
Gamemaster:the very least, making them seem
Gamemaster:friendly on the surface
Gamemaster:is a boon.
Argyle:At least pretend to be nice, even if they're not going to be nice.
Gamemaster:You guys, yeah,
Gamemaster:Yeah, you haven't known him for too long, but he isn't exactly hiding it.
Gamemaster:There a bit of like incredulousness in his expression that is yeah sure whatever that fine Let you know so long as you not trying to kill me overtly right now nothing is different So let do it
Argyle:All right.
Anzu:So, what is our action plan?
Gamemaster:you know.
Argyle:So I propose a crusade.
Anzu:Do we got to do something about all these void creatures?
Argyle:a series of targeted strikes
Anzu:Argonaut wants to do a crusade.
Argyle:where we go into their
Argyle:these
Johnny:That one.
Gamemaster:uh
Argyle:holes into their dimensions
Argyle:we anoint party members
Argyle:with stealth and we rob
Argyle:them of their void hearts until they're cleansed
Argyle:then we'll have to dispatch
Argyle:of the remaining foes
Argyle:yeah we seize that
Gamemaster:uh
Gamemaster:uh
Johnny:So, I got.
Argyle:Well, just before we start sharing, this is another piece of information, so we expect
Gamemaster:Grayson will say
Gamemaster:and for what reason do you
Gamemaster:want to take the Harlequin's
Gamemaster:old home. Are you just
Johnny:No, the helm is there.
Anzu:Yeah, we kind of assumed, no.
Gamemaster:looking to take all of the
Gamemaster:purple orb things from within?
Gamemaster:We all saw you
Gamemaster:take those out of the thing.
Johnny:No, we think the helm's there.
Gamemaster:The helm is not there.
Gamemaster:The helm... no.
Argyle:another piece back.
Gamemaster:It's too late. I've already said it.
Gamemaster:You owe me one.
Argyle:oh where is it
Gamemaster:The helm is not in the Harlequin's
Gamemaster:town.
Argyle:up top that where the guy was dancing
Gamemaster:It is piloted...
Anzu:That...
Gamemaster:Yeah, it is piloted by this great...
Argyle:you didn't you didn't see War dancing in
Gamemaster:What?
Argyle:there
Argyle:oh if you looked if you looked hard
Gamemaster:What?
Argyle:enough you'd see a creature moving
Argyle:inside of the home
Argyle:yeah
Gamemaster:Inside of the gyroscope.
Argyle:I look over at the
Gamemaster:He looks over...
Argyle:at the anyone
Gamemaster:He looks over at the iridescent Ed Stoick if he does.
Argyle:else
Argyle:do
Benny:.
Gamemaster:Uh, uh...
Johnny:This kid's just dumb.
Argyle:What about just the guy?
Gamemaster:The priest is blind and does not react.
Argyle:I'm sorry, I'm perceptive.
Argyle:We're going to need to kill this dude for a different reason now.
Johnny:Back on track.
Johnny:So how is it piloted?
Johnny:How do we pilot the thing?
Johnny:Say we get it moving again.
Gamemaster:I don't know.
Gamemaster:People just told me that...
Johnny:Okay, we gotta get on zoom. Can you fly?
Argyle:Wait. Sorry, just to repeat.
Gamemaster:The... the helm is within this great gyroscopic structure.
Anzu:I guess we'll have to go check it out.
Benny:Nice.
Gamemaster:I would not deign to go and pilot it myself.
Johnny:Nice.
Anzu:Uh, yes.
Argyle:Grayson, you don't mind having just a
Argyle:void creature coming from the holes right next to your house?
Johnny:Why aren't they coming for you?
Argyle:You know they're com-
Gamemaster:But no, they wouldn't do that.
Anzu:He means that's what they're currently doing.
Gamemaster:Why would they do that?
Argyle:Who do you think they're-
Anzu:They're emerging in the Harlequin space.
Gamemaster:Oh, but they're not coming for me.
Gamemaster:They can filter out and attack all of you, but they're not coming for me.
Argyle:Why would they not be coming for you?
Gamemaster:I don't know, they came for all of you during that fight in the ballroom with that horrid fabric man.
Johnny:I think...
Argyle:you know they weren't coming for us we were just
Gamemaster:No, they were definitely attacking you.
Argyle:defending helpless people
Argyle:right
Argyle:sorry
Gamemaster:Don't try to lie to me about what happened that evening.
Argyle:is he reframing to the
Argyle:hands thing or all of them
Gamemaster:No uh When you were at the ballroom the Ki-Rin and the bar and the like uh popped out of the hole and were attacking people
Argyle:yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah I look over at a
Johnny:Yeah they were attacking everyone indiscriminately and then we went oh this is bad so we started
Johnny:attacking them, and that's why they came after us.
Gamemaster:They didn't attack me.
Johnny:Yeah, because you've stood in a corner.
Johnny:
Gamemaster:They didn't attack me.
Gamemaster:I don't know how I can get this through your thick skulls.
Argyle:I look over at the host people
Gamemaster:They didn't attack me.
Argyle:and go you're right we should just leave them
Johnny:I look over at the mo-cup guy.
Gamemaster:Because you keep implying that they were attacking me, and they're not attacking me.
Benny:Is this like a point of pride that you keep repeating it as if we care?
Argyle:I look over at the host people and I go,
Gamemaster:They don't attack me.
Johnny:I look over at the...
Johnny:I look at the mo-cup guy.
Argyle:I guess we should just leave him and they're not going to attack him, right?
Argyle:Basically being like, I guess we'll get a free win?
Argyle:Like, I don't know, man.
Argyle:Like, that's what I'm cooking at the host people.
Argyle:Like, yeah, yeah.
Gamemaster:That random guy will just shrug.
Johnny:I look at this guy.
Argyle:We'll just be like, all right, cool.
Argyle:all right wow he's either a really good liar or we're just gonna get a free
Johnny:I go, really?
Gamemaster:Yeah.
Anzu:you know
Benny:Well, no, he's
Johnny:Him?
Gamemaster:Yeah.
Johnny:What is happening?
Argyle:it's also so funny if he's always been this
Anzu:I think he's not
Anzu:he's not afraid of them
Benny:trying to
Argyle:yeah but
Benny:deflect from the fact that he
Benny:controlled one of the... Like, the one that was near him,
Benny:he controlled to go attack
Benny:someone else. And he's like,
Benny:but it wasn't attacking me.
Johnny:All right.
Johnny:They don't attack you.
Argyle:he can't control them all
Johnny:You're immune.
Johnny:That's really cool.
Argyle:yeah
Argyle:yeah
Argyle:okay
Johnny:We need a plan of action here.
Gamemaster:Great.
Anzu:We got to go check out the helm and see what it's going to take to get the
Argyle:yeah
Johnny:That's the important thing.
Anzu:Shrider online.
Argyle:All right.
Johnny:Sounds good to me.
Argyle:All right Yes very productive
Gamemaster:That sounds like an excellent thing for you to do.
Gamemaster:Not that.
Johnny:And what will you be doing in the meantime?
Anzu:So
Gamemaster:Not that.
Gamemaster:You know I told you useful information This was this was me this was my olive branch I told you useful information I said I not going to try and kill you I
Johnny:Johnny Bangs is having a table
Benny:Okay Okay
Gamemaster:Feel like this was very productive
Argyle:So our group extends to our whole alliance.
Benny:This extends to these two here as well.
Benny:No, no, no.
Gamemaster:Yeah, I'm not going to kill them either
Benny:Are they going...
Gamemaster:And and stoke stoke will look over and say
Gamemaster:sorry, Stoke will look over and say
Argyle:That's good.
Gamemaster:no, we
Gamemaster:had no intention of attacking you
Gamemaster:to begin with
Gamemaster:and that continues to be
Gamemaster:if you wish to pool resources
Gamemaster:I'm happy to aid
Gamemaster:in the efforts of
Gamemaster:if we need to
Gamemaster:reconstruct whatever is broken
Gamemaster:so that we can be on our way again
Gamemaster:That works for me.
Johnny:All right.
Argyle:And that our group's going to go investigate the helm, I guess, and report back.
Anzu:and we're not going to encroach on each other's territory.
Anzu:And we'll have meetings here at Giacomo's, a neutral space.
Gamemaster:This is a neutral space.
Gamemaster:This whole circle, including Giacomo's, no fighting.
Gamemaster:Safe.
Gamemaster:Nobody owns it.
Gamemaster:I think they'd all say yes.
Argyle:like to agree to these terms
Argyle:with a ring of truth.
Anzu:At least the sentiment was there.
Benny:It's the thought that counts.
Argyle:Okay, I can't cast that today.
Argyle:I don't have it prepared,
Argyle:but we could do this next time.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Argyle:I want to see if they would next time.
Argyle:I'm not going to prepare it for no reason.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Argyle:I didn't know we were doing this.
Gamemaster:Of course.
Argyle:I didn't have it prepared.
Argyle:I don't have that prepared every day.
Argyle:yeah yeah
Gamemaster:Of course.
Argyle:um
Argyle:i say in machine god they gonna just these void things are just gonna run him over that great okay
Anzu:you I not sure that the case
Argyle:you don't think so?
Anzu:I think he's probably not really afraid of them.
Argyle:maybe he did make a deal
Argyle:some entity that he doesn't know his family did
Argyle:all right
Anzu:Okay.
Argyle:well
Argyle:well we'll we'll send message once we have it maybe tomorrow's kind of short
Anzu:I guess let's see what we can find.
Gamemaster:That guy will say, if you need to leave notes, if we need to communicate in some way, how
Anzu:Maybe we'll chat tomorrow or something.
Benny:Sir.
Gamemaster:about we agree that you leave notes here and then occasionally we can send messengers in
Gamemaster:to go check to see if there's any mail.
Argyle:yeah and i think it goes without saying but i'm going to say we're going to keep this neutral
Gamemaster:Grayson will say, I would never.
Argyle:no no one modify this area
Gamemaster:I like what they've done with the place.
Gamemaster:And then he will
Gamemaster:he will gesture for all of you to leave.
Argyle:when we walk out
Gamemaster:Oh, the mandible guy is the mo-cup guy, sure.
Argyle:I'm just gonna look at
Argyle:the
Argyle:the mandible guy
Argyle:and just be like
Argyle:we can walk out of there and just be like
Argyle:yeah yeah
Argyle:and I'll just be like
Argyle:oh sorry
Gamemaster:Sorry, I didn't know who that was, because this guy doesn't have mandibles.
Argyle:doesn't have mandibles
Gamemaster:listen
Argyle:but I'm gonna turn to him and just be like
Gamemaster:if he's gonna
Gamemaster:do whatever he's doing it's fine
Gamemaster:easier for us to not have to worry about
Argyle:yeah yeah
Gamemaster:target on her back, at least for the short term.
Argyle:oh he definitely will no offense like
Gamemaster:Although, I will say,
Gamemaster:I will not be surprised if he
Gamemaster:continues to do some crap behind her back.
Gamemaster:I just keep Anaïs out, you know?
Gamemaster:Yeah, I don't trust him further,
Argyle:no offense i don't really trust anyone but agreed
Gamemaster:but I can throw him and I got pretty weak arms.
Argyle:cool cool but i if there's no one i trust i definitely don't trust him the most
Gamemaster:That's a healthy thing to take, no offense taken.
Argyle:all right well we'll give you info um
Gamemaster:That's fair.
Gamemaster:Yep.
Argyle:see you around maybe
Gamemaster:Stay safe.
Gamemaster:Maybe.
Gamemaster:Until he'll start walking back with Stoke
Gamemaster:as they start walking in the direction of their fans.
Gamemaster:maybe if it was like
Argyle:mr Jorge knows i know argyle wouldn't does stokes eyes look similar to that of grim
Argyle:not good
Gamemaster:really progressed
Anzu:Blind.
Gamemaster:like maybe
Argyle:that's
Gamemaster:it's unclear
Argyle:yeah
Gamemaster:but it is definitely
Argyle:yeah
Argyle:is there an oracle
Gamemaster:like you were starting to see the clouding in Groob's eyes
Gamemaster:his are completely
Gamemaster:clouded over they're like milky white
Gamemaster:I believe there is
Argyle:pf class that has this blind
Argyle:I think so
Gamemaster:or maybe there was
Gamemaster:there isn't anymore
Argyle:Does Argyle know...
Gamemaster:no
Argyle:Okay, let me just ask directly.
Argyle:Does Argyle know why his eyes would be blinded?
Gamemaster:like no role necessary
Argyle:Okay.
Gamemaster:there isn't
Argyle:Yeah, that's fine.
Gamemaster:this like area
Argyle:That's fine.
Gamemaster:doesn't have a religious
Gamemaster:association with blinding
Gamemaster:it could just be
Argyle:Yeah.
Gamemaster:this is an old blind man
Gamemaster:those have
Argyle:And if there is one, it's not in Argyle's.
Gamemaster:existed
Gamemaster:Yeah no that isn a particular thing that you would be familiar with
Argyle:Yeah.
Argyle:So Argyle's like, oh yeah, obviously.
Argyle:People who follow the church sometimes get blind.
Argyle:Hey we on Zoom Can uh resonate with the other calls can resonate with the fashion bag
Anzu:you I resonate with the Voidsong
Argyle:that'd be that would be fucking crazy to be up there and then just ping it and then you feel
Anzu:I'm not going to attempt that.
Argyle:him ping back and he looks back and he's like what the fuck
Gamemaster:I had to double check because I was trying to figure out where it was.
Anzu:Listen, I'm very terrified right now.
Anzu:Voidsong has never been this quiet.
Anzu:And there's a little something else
Anzu:rattling around,
Anzu:and I don't want to think about it.
Gamemaster:The clouded vision oracle is a kind of oracle in first edition.
Anzu:Anyway...
Argyle:I just heard you vaguely mentioning that a while ago, Josh.
Anzu:Yeah, I was going to say, I don't remember seeing that when I've made oracles in the past.
Gamemaster:I knew I'd seen it somewhere.
Argyle:So.
Gamemaster:Yeah, this is my fault for mixing up rule sets.
Argyle:Yeah.
Anzu:So, the helm is up, allegedly.
Anzu:Is there any kind of platform or something besides just a big floating gyroscope?
Gamemaster:So the way that this central area is structured is it is circular in the center where all of the
Gamemaster:fanes meet. On the outer-ish ring, there's a little room for not quite a road, but a path
Gamemaster:where people have been traveling around. And then layered inside of that ring is the set of
Gamemaster:buildings that make up like Giacomo's and the gym and the general store and all of those kind of
Gamemaster:little amenities that they had set up.
Gamemaster:And then inside that
Gamemaster:is a massive rod.
Argyle:you Hey
Gamemaster:Rod is probably the wrong term Tower is probably closer to what you looking for It extends up to where the gyroscopic structure is
Gamemaster:But the rod that holds up the gyroscopes is itself a tower.
Gamemaster:It is like a building of some kind.
Argyle:on the word Johnny
Johnny:Yeah, I have both.
Anzu:No.
Argyle:do you guys have dimension door
Argyle:sorry
Argyle:translocate
Argyle:okay
Argyle:how many fifth level spells do you have Johnny
Argyle:you can say no
Argyle:but what about
Johnny:That is one thing.
Argyle:translocate
Argyle:fifth level
Argyle:into the library.
Argyle:You check out the starward book,
Anzu:We don't know what it's like in there.
Argyle:you Dimension Door back.
Argyle:If it's bad, you'll just tell back early.
Johnny:We don't know what it's like.
Johnny:My one concern is that I have to get the book and check it out.
Johnny:Does the spell or whatever, the pact, take effect right then?
Johnny:Like, if I leave the library, I automatically forget?
Argyle:Depends on the pack.
Johnny:I guess we only need it...
Johnny:Well, I guess we only need it to...
Johnny:I don't even think I have to do that, because the information just needs to get us back home, right?
Johnny:So I can just walk in and say, hey, I need to borrow this and check it out,
Johnny:and then I'll forget everything in it once I give it back to you,
Johnny:which it doesn't really matter because we just need it to navigate back.
Argyle:Yeah.
Argyle:Was that how that worked?
Argyle:That he could collect at any time the information I think that was
Gamemaster:I think It twofold I don remember how much he actually
Johnny:I thought it was once we gave it back we forgot everything
Gamemaster:told you but it is
Gamemaster:like the knowledge is
Gamemaster:checked back into the library when you return the book
Gamemaster:um but
Gamemaster:with the caveat of like you weren't able to bring
Gamemaster:the book out so that isn't particularly useful
Gamemaster:um
Gamemaster:you know put like
Gamemaster:as declared by Ocelot
Gamemaster:you would have no way of knowing how much of that
Johnny:I'm fine blipping in there, but if it's Deathsville, I'm gonna die.
Argyle:You can blip out.
Benny:What's happening, Desville?
Gamemaster:is an enchantment on the library and how much of that
Gamemaster:is Othloth being like hey I'm gonna kill
Gamemaster:you if you try and take this book out
Gamemaster:so like
Gamemaster:you know contingent on those points
Johnny:Okay.
Johnny:But I mean, if we're going nowhere else, I got two 5th level spells so I can blip in
Johnny:and blip out, but then I'm spent on those big boys for the day.
Argyle:I think we're going to need to find Giant.
Anzu:The one thing that we do
Benny:Yeah.
Benny:How useful is it to know where we're at?
Johnny:I mean, I think at this point it's not...
Johnny:It's more just like background, because...
Johnny:Yeah, we got a...
Argyle:Or if there's slides.
Anzu:have going for us is the Strider is currently programmed to walk voidward.
Argyle:If there's slides to be useful.
Johnny:Yeah.
Argyle:Yeah.
Benny:I like that.
Anzu:And so even if we don't really know where we are, we can at least start moving in the
Anzu:right direction.
Johnny:I also haven't brought this up,
Benny:Of course.
Johnny:but I don't want to bring this up at any of our meetings,
Johnny:but I still think it would be a good idea to go kill Tali
Johnny:and take them off the board and maybe get Anzu's sister
Argyle:Yeah.
Johnny:because, you know, a bird in the hand.
Anzu:Yes.
Johnny:Because that is just like another threat that's flipping around.
Argyle:Yeah.
Johnny:Round out there.
Argyle:Maybe we should just go now, huh?
Anzu:I'd like to check out the top of this tower first, just see what it's like up there.
Benny:Yeah.
Argyle:I'd rather do that.
Argyle:No, but that's what they're expecting us to do next.
Argyle:So if we wait an extra day because we're doing tally stuff,
Argyle:it'll just look like we're lazy.
Argyle:They're not going to progress, if that makes sense.
Anzu:I just want to look, it's only going to take a couple minutes.
Argyle:Oh, how are you going to look at it?
Anzu:I'm going to go up there.
Johnny:He can fly.
Argyle:Are there stairs?
Anzu:I kind of spread my arms out,
Anzu:and I have feathers that kind of wave off a little bit,
Anzu:but you see I kind of concentrate briefly,
Anzu:and the air kind of compresses
Anzu:and creates almost like shimmering,
Anzu:spectral-looking type larger wings,
Anzu:and I rise up into the air.
Johnny:Bye.
Argyle:Good luck, don't fall.
Gamemaster:Absolutely.
Anzu:Yeah, I've been working on trying to...
Anzu:It's a little awkward.
Anzu:I kind of go forward and back a little bit.
Anzu:I've been trying to take advantage
Anzu:of my incredibly lightweight form
Anzu:and my psychic powers
Anzu:to kind of just launch myself a little bit
Anzu:and it seems to have been working recently
Anzu:and so I'm going to give it a go.
Anzu:And I have a fly speed, so I fly up the tower.
Argyle:You have a snap leaf.
Argyle:I almost took Divine Wings,
Gamemaster:Yeah, absolutely.
Benny:Thank you Part of the game
Gamemaster:Roll the perception check.
Gamemaster:That's a good question.
Argyle:but then I was like, well,
Gamemaster:You are allowed to know.
Argyle:kind of a shame if I fly and Anzu doesn't.
Anzu:I got a 25.
Gamemaster:It's part of the rule.
Anzu:What is our level 9?
Anzu:if I am allowed to know
Gamemaster:That a good question You are allowed to know It part of the rules It is 26
Anzu:Oh, so we're going to use the points.
Anzu:Currently, I'm an expert in perception.
Gamemaster:You would be.
Anzu:So, I get plus four.
Anzu:How does that sound?
Anzu:Correct?
Gamemaster:Um, no, you get plus six.
Anzu:Oh, because master is after expert, isn't it?
Gamemaster:Yeah.
Gamemaster:Trained, expert, master, legendary, mythic.
Anzu:Yeah, 38 is a decent bit better.
Gamemaster:38 is much better.
Gamemaster:Um, you get two things.
Gamemaster:First, as you're flying up towards the gyroscopic structure,
Gamemaster:you get a much, much, much closer look than you would have been able to get from the ground.
Gamemaster:as you learn that it is actually pretty high up.
Gamemaster:It's like 500 feet in the air.
Gamemaster:It's just so large that it kind of looms over the rest of the strider
Gamemaster:and seems closer than it actually is.
Gamemaster:And to that point, the way that the gyroscopic structure works
Gamemaster:is there are a number of rings that all kind of turn within each other.
Gamemaster:And then I have described that there are these kind of scoops or hooks
Gamemaster:or something that rotate around the edge of the rings.
Gamemaster:As you get closer, you can see that those scoops, they're almost wind vane-like in that they have a cup and it rotates around.
Gamemaster:And on the arm of each of those cups is another ring that rotates around that.
Gamemaster:And on the arm of each of those cups is an arm that rotates around them.
Gamemaster:It is fractal-like in the way that it continues to narrow down.
Gamemaster:This is a much more intricate piece of machinery than would have been immediately visible from the ground.
Gamemaster:this is the kind of thing that wouldn have been easy to construct even if you threw a lot of resources at it Like I don think Anzu would have the first clue
Gamemaster:of if Belvedere wanted to build one of these,
Gamemaster:how much capital and manpower they would need to throw at it
Gamemaster:to get this thing designed,
Gamemaster:if it needs to be as intricate as it looks like it is.
Gamemaster:It is a very long time it would have taken to build this.
Gamemaster:That said, looking around it, there is no obvious entrance into the tower or the gyroscope.
Gamemaster:Like flying over the top, flying through the rings, doing around the circle.
Gamemaster:there is no way that you can tell
Gamemaster:that seems to actually
Gamemaster:enter into
Gamemaster:enter into the tower
Gamemaster:which tells you that either
Anzu:could be maybe that you enter from underneath
Gamemaster:the Harlequins had some way of
Gamemaster:imposing a doorway on it
Gamemaster:to enter it
Gamemaster:or the entrance is somewhere else
Anzu:so is there nowhere like to stand
Gamemaster:Like, you could if you wanted to stand on, like, one of the rings, but then you'd kind
Anzu:Right.
Gamemaster:of be balancing on all of those scoops.
Gamemaster:It wasn't designed for humans or, you know, creatures to be standing on top of them.
Anzu:And does the, like, the tower have any, like, windows towards the top, or it's just sheer, like...
Gamemaster:Completely sheer this like golden yellow metal color Thank you
Anzu:I Get like I get right up against the wall
Anzu:and I'm going to
Anzu:circumnavigate the whole thing
Anzu:relatively up high
Anzu:and just be releasing
Anzu:tech magic to see if I could find anything that's maybe obscured or
Gamemaster:Okay, so a few things.
Anzu:38
Gamemaster:You rolled a critical success or a very high roll on your perception.
Gamemaster:What did you actually get?
Anzu:yes
Gamemaster:38.
Gamemaster:Yeah, with the 38, the two things.
Gamemaster:First of all, detect magic.
Gamemaster:The whole device is one huge artifact.
Gamemaster:So you can exclude that in your detect magic as you do a loop around.
Anzu:It's heightened all the way.
Gamemaster:there are, there is magic
Gamemaster:inside that is not
Gamemaster:considered part of the
Gamemaster:gyroscopic structure that
Gamemaster:is pinging you. What info do you
Gamemaster:get at your level with detect magic?
Anzu:So...
Gamemaster:You learn the
Gamemaster:ranker level of the most powerful magical effect
Gamemaster:and you can also pinpoint
Gamemaster:its source. You don't learn its exact
Gamemaster:location, but you
Gamemaster:narrow it down to within a five foot cube. Okay, so there are, in the interior, as you're like doing
Anzu:Yeah.
Gamemaster:the circumnavigating around, the tower itself is large enough that your 30 feet detection into it
Gamemaster:isn't enough to make it to the other side. So you have magic items appearing and disappearing
Gamemaster:in your radius as you go around. The most powerful magic items as you do it around kind of the close
Anzu:Yeah.
Gamemaster:to the top bit, is there are
Gamemaster:a handful
Gamemaster:of level
Gamemaster:4 to level 6
Gamemaster:magic items or effects
Gamemaster:close to the top of the
Gamemaster:tower as you navigate around.
Anzu:Yeah, so there's all kinds of stuff going on in there.
Gamemaster:I will also say that you rolled high enough on your perception that as you get kind of
Gamemaster:close to the tower, you can hear the sound of active machinery of what seems to be like
Gamemaster:maybe pneumatics, that kind of hissing, pumping sound on the interior, active.
Gamemaster:It seems like something's going on inside there.
Anzu:Machine God.
Anzu:when the Harlequins were around
Gamemaster:Yes.
Gamemaster:they were
Anzu:were they
Anzu:active kind of directly
Anzu:center of the strider towards the top levels
Anzu:in your view field
Anzu:at the center
Gamemaster:active in much of their
Gamemaster:slice of the strider especially
Gamemaster:closer to the end
Gamemaster:and while we were on the journey but
Anzu:can you feel
Gamemaster:that does include the center yes
Gamemaster:they traveled
Gamemaster:through that frequently
Gamemaster:you have told me this before yes
Anzu:so there's this big tower out here
Anzu:I don't know if you're aware of that
Anzu:and it's got a big gyroscope at the top
Anzu:yeah
Anzu:I'm trying to figure out how to get in
Anzu:it doesn't really look like there's anything out here
Anzu:have you seen them like
Anzu:go through it up a ladder
Anzu:or up some stairs through a trap door
Anzu:Could you help us get to that chamber?
Gamemaster:there is a chamber directly beneath or directly in the center of the strider that i imagine extends
Gamemaster:upwards past my vision. I would warn you there are... yes, I could help. There are living creatures within.
Anzu:Currently
Anzu:Are they Harlequins?
Gamemaster:As currently, at least things moving up and down within and then out of my sight.
Gamemaster:Those little clown devils. Yes, they are.
Anzu:So you're seeing Harlequins alive on the Strider?
Gamemaster:Not at the moment but I was five minutes ago only when they are below the bottom layer yes Of course Also there is one other
Anzu:Before they went up Okay thank you That good to know
Anzu:I'm going to fly back down to my compatriots.
Gamemaster:thing of note with your ridiculous perception check that you notice as you are descending
Gamemaster:down to your companions. So you left off your companions close to the base of the gyroscopic
Gamemaster:structure um as you descend down there is you see them and then you see that there is the the like
Anzu:Bless you.
Gamemaster:ring of amenity buildings that had been in the center that's now part of this neutral territory
Gamemaster:um and then beyond that is this road uh
Gamemaster:excuse me and then there's some sneezes um and then beyond that are the various independent uh
Gamemaster:the various independent like fanes and you can see it's actually very distinct
Gamemaster:uh the the separation between them from the height that you're at um but in addition sorry one second
Gamemaster:um oh that's fun completely that's never mind um coming from the uh
Gamemaster:one of the fan areas the one to the side of the RunGunners on the other side not you uh
Gamemaster:what used to be Verdant Holdings, is at this point fallow.
Gamemaster:Nobody has gone in and claimed that territory yet.
Gamemaster:But you can see that there is some motion coming out of that area.
Gamemaster:It's like this...
Gamemaster:From this distance, you can't quite tell what it is.
Gamemaster:it is too far off
Gamemaster:because it's a few hundred feet
Gamemaster:down in the direction
Gamemaster:of the Verdant Molding area But it is moving from the direction of what used to be their Fane and is now that crater The only reason it even catches your eye because it is doing a pretty good job of blending in with the ground is there is a very faint
Gamemaster:reflective glint coming from it for a second, like some kind of light hitting
Gamemaster:off of a piece of glass.
Johnny:What did you see, Birdman?
Argyle:There you go.
Anzu:I complete my descent.
Benny:There's.
Anzu:Okay, there's a number of things.
Anzu:One, it's a very intricate thing up there.
Anzu:There's no entrance.
Anzu:There's no control panel or anything.
Anzu:But Machine God said that it's very likely
Anzu:that you can enter from underneath.
Anzu:There's a chamber.
Anzu:the crazy thing is
Argyle:No.
Anzu:there are very likely
Anzu:Harlequins
Anzu:in there right now
Anzu:Machine Gun saw them in this chamber
Anzu:right below and then he can't see them
Anzu:because they've gone up into the tower
Anzu:but
Anzu:it seems we're not fully rid of them
Anzu:and then also something is happening
Anzu:where Verdant
Anzu:Holdings used to be.
Anzu:So I don't know if we want to go check that out.
Anzu:It was kind of far away, but there was motion.
Argyle:yeah let's go
Gamemaster:All right, so what are you doing?
Benny:Like a bonfire or a farmer's market?
Anzu:Something shiny.
Benny:Oh, okay.
Argyle:let's go
Argyle:over to verdon holden
Argyle:verdon holden
Gamemaster:You're going over to Britain Holdings.
Argyle:once we get um almost to their fame i'm going to cast heat vision on myself
Gamemaster:Absolutely.
Argyle:and infrared vision at 60 feet has a precise sense yeah i didn have um you know
Gamemaster:Heat vision.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:Hey you get like Superman laser sight What does heat vision do Nice Okay what else do I need
Johnny:you Right in the road
Benny:Okay Like the predator
Gamemaster:Like the predator.
Gamemaster:Heat vision is one word.
Gamemaster:Of course it is.
Gamemaster:warm-blooded creature a source of heat not completely covered behind a solid
Argyle:I almost didn't take this because I know Josh loves constructs.
Gamemaster:object. That's pretty nice.
Gamemaster:I do love constructs.
Argyle:But I figured it might be a steam-powered construct
Argyle:if there is one.
Gamemaster:Though it explicitly calls out constructs are the same temperature as
Gamemaster:their environment and can't be detected with heat vision. Typically, you're right.
Argyle:Typically.
Argyle:Typically.
Gamemaster:The GM decides in other cases. Excuse me.
Argyle:Yeah.
Argyle:But I figured a stealth construct wouldn't be like...
Gamemaster:stealth construct but it's got a little fire going on in there it happens either way
Argyle:Very hot.
Benny:It was a glint, though.
Argyle:Wait a second, gentlemen.
Gamemaster:it was a glint
Argyle:Oh, never mind.
Argyle:Yeah, yeah.
Argyle:What if Grayson has more of his invisible workers?
Argyle:Ah, let's figure it out.
Argyle:Oh, yeah.
Argyle:Take a look.
Argyle:Zoom.
Gamemaster:okay
Gamemaster:so you guys are headed over
Gamemaster:in the direction of
Gamemaster:in the direction of
Argyle:I think we're walking.
Johnny:How long, like when we're outside, how quickly do we start to get cold and freeze up?
Benny:Wait.
Gamemaster:Holdings
Gamemaster:old fame
Gamemaster:Did you take your car? Are you walking?
Gamemaster:Sorry, I just don't know what form of transport you're using here.
Gamemaster:It is short enough that you could walk.
Gamemaster:I'm just, like, calling out.
Gamemaster:Pretty quickly.
Gamemaster:It was negated for the most part.
Gamemaster:Not completely.
Gamemaster:The chill still followed you into Giacomo's,
Gamemaster:but it wasn't anything that, like, felt you were in danger.
Gamemaster:While you were outside and exposed to the elements,
Gamemaster:It is pretty chilly.
Argyle:Probably in a car then.
Gamemaster:You can already feel it starting to seep a little bit into your bones, kind of move you a little bit sluggish.
Benny:Yep.
Gamemaster:It's not causing any damage yet.
Gamemaster:You could probably be out here for at least an hour or two without suffering any negative effects,
Gamemaster:but it's more of a concern for extended trips outside.
Gamemaster:It will definitely start to draw on you, and not in a pleasant way.
Gamemaster:It is particularly unpleasant in that it's not like a cold wind.
Gamemaster:it's like just the experience of being outside is cold like it's cutting through your clothing
Argyle:Yeah, we will have brought a car.
Benny:Yeah.
Benny:Mm-hmm .
Benny:Okay.
Gamemaster:um okay that's fine uh you can drive your car on over um you're heading in the direction i assume
Benny:So, I think we're going to stop here, and we'll get back to the questions.
Gamemaster:of where Anzu saw that like glinty reflection thing uh absolutely make a perception check your
Gamemaster:this area is effectively
Gamemaster:just at this point it's this crater
Gamemaster:in the ground
Gamemaster:some grasslands and like some
Argyle:All right, I have a 29 with my heat vision.
Gamemaster:token rocks that
Gamemaster:had been spread out by the general explosion
Gamemaster:it is it's not like landscaped
Gamemaster:there aren't a lot
Gamemaster:of places for something to like
Gamemaster:hide
Gamemaster:sorry what did you get with your heat vision
Argyle:29.
Gamemaster:29.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Argyle:Is there anyone else rolling?
Benny:Thank you I mean All right
Gamemaster:If that's what we're going with, that's what we're going with.
Gamemaster:With a 29 with heat vision.
Argyle:Alright.
Gamemaster:So you actually have an advantage here in that...
Argyle:Oh, 30.
Argyle:I have heroism.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:30.
Gamemaster:You actually...
Gamemaster:Actually, I don't actually know if that's the case.
Gamemaster:I think you do here because I don't think this applies,
Gamemaster:but I gonna try something anyway One second
Gamemaster:Yeah. Okay.
Gamemaster:So the answer here is that
Gamemaster:if you didn't have heat vision,
Gamemaster:this thing would be invisible to you.
Gamemaster:Not by virtue of the fact that it is actually invisible,
Gamemaster:just by virtue of the fact that it is, whatever it is, is pretty well acclimated to the ability of moving through areas unseen.
Argyle:Okay.
Gamemaster:It is camouflaged in such a way that it's hard to make out its exact shape.
Gamemaster:It is large, though. It's a relatively large... it's a creature, at best you can tell.
Argyle:Okay.
Gamemaster:but it is moving
Gamemaster:definitely
Gamemaster:focused on you in the way that it's moving
Gamemaster:because as it sees that you guys are here
Gamemaster:and looking out
Gamemaster:it's kind of slinking
Gamemaster:a little bit close to the ground
Gamemaster:albeit a slightly
Gamemaster:awkward looking position
Gamemaster:and it
Gamemaster:moves behind
Gamemaster:a rock to try and break line of sight
Gamemaster:as you guys are watching
Gamemaster:you do see it happen. It is... actually, heat vision would be interesting here, because you
Gamemaster:would see that it's kind of a blob, especially at the distance you're at, but there is
Gamemaster:two parts of it. There's a large heated base, and then there's kind of a protrusion upwards,
Gamemaster:and a very, very hot spot near the top of that protrusion, like multiple degrees hotter than
Gamemaster:than the rest of the body of this thing.
Gamemaster:I will also say,
Gamemaster:because you rolled really well with the perception,
Argyle:Yeah Benny not Okay
Gamemaster:this is the first time you cast it around your friends right At least in a long time Um your friends are all normal temperature except for Anzu whose head is real hot
Gamemaster:Like, five or six degrees hotter than you would expect from, like, base temperature.
Gamemaster:You know, I don't know if Argyle knows about, uh, Tengu biology,
Gamemaster:but it does seem strange that his head is running a few degrees hotter than the rest of him.
Johnny:psychic powers hot brain
Argyle:I'm gonna go take a look
Benny:Maybe.
Gamemaster:Just putting that out there.
Benny:Maybe.
Benny:
Benny:
Benny:maybe you should say
Argyle:can I make a medicine check for later
Argyle:or just note this down for later to make a
Argyle:should I make that now or
Argyle:I call out the
Gamemaster:I...
Gamemaster:Are you stopping to do a medical diagnosis?
Argyle:weird dragon I call out the weird
Argyle:the weird dragon thing and I'm like
Argyle:what the fuck is that guys should we attack
Gamemaster:You would have needed to get out of the car to use your heat vision.
Argyle:it
Argyle:Yeah, let's get out of the car.
Anzu:at least try to see what it's doing here.
Benny:say hi
Benny:I guess we're
Argyle:Are we out of the car?
Argyle:We're walking around.
Benny:done
Argyle:Okay.
Benny:EPS.
Argyle:I track the thing
Argyle:and I say,
Argyle:hello!
Gamemaster:So...
Argyle:Thing. Friend.
Gamemaster:You track the thing?
Argyle:I'm looking at it.
Gamemaster:How do you track the thing?
Argyle:Like, I'm looking at it.
Gamemaster:You're just...
Gamemaster:Okay, I mean,
Gamemaster:you don't need to roll a survival
Gamemaster:check here because you
Gamemaster:saw it get into the position that it's in
Argyle:yeah with my shield route
Gamemaster:because of your heat vision
Gamemaster:you can, you're walking up to it
Argyle:yeah
Benny:okay wait how far was the heat vision again 60 feet
Argyle:yes
Gamemaster:okay
Gamemaster:and you call out
Gamemaster:when you get within
Argyle:um how far is it right now for me
Gamemaster:well actually how close are you getting
Gamemaster:is the first question
Gamemaster:uh well your heat vision only has a range i think of 60 feet so it is at most 60 feet away
Argyle:I will mention to Benny that we should walk up together and then they go up
Johnny:Stay back with hot brain bird here
Gamemaster:you Heat vision 60 feet
Argyle:Just like, see.
Argyle:Yeah.
Benny:God damn.
Benny:Okay.
Gamemaster:I think at least.
Argyle:Yeah.
Gamemaster:One second.
Argyle:Yeah.
Gamemaster:Yeah, it's 60 feet.
Gamemaster:Absolutely.
Gamemaster:Okay, so when you get within 30 feet,
Gamemaster:you're making yourself known. You're not like being stealthy
Argyle:Yeah.
Argyle:Yeah, I know it's bad, but Argyle's supposed to be a good guy.
Benny:No.
Gamemaster:or anything.
Gamemaster:Do you
Gamemaster:look threatening?
Gamemaster:Do you have your weapons out?
Argyle:No.
Argyle:I'll have my shield.
Gamemaster:You don't have your weapons out.
Argyle:I have a shield.
Gamemaster:You just have your shield out.
Benny:Benny has confidence.
Benny:Benny has no episode.
Benny:Hey.
Argyle:Yeah.
Argyle:
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:When you get within 30 feet
Gamemaster:there is a flurry of
Gamemaster:motion, uh, as the thing behind the rock, um, at first it seems like it jumps, but then it kind of
Argyle:Nice.
Gamemaster:stays at the height that it originally was, and you realize it's actually stood up. Um,
Argyle:Okay.
Gamemaster:the upper form is humanoid, um, but it, it whips out as it jumps up from behind the rock. It takes
Gamemaster:out what looks to be a long firearm, a sniper rifle of some kind, and focuses it on probably
Johnny:Yeah.
Argyle:Okay.
Gamemaster:Argyle's head, because Argyle is the one that showed up first.
Gamemaster:And I would love it, Noah, if you could describe this character.
Johnny:You guys see what looks like a human man in his 40s, like mid-40s,
Argyle:You son of a bitch.
Johnny:eight and a half feet, maybe nine feet tall, kind of crunched over right now.
Johnny:The description I sent to Josh.
Johnny:it's got copper skin just like covered in
Johnny:scars all over
Johnny:black hair tied back in a
Johnny:He's got this shaggy beard.
Argyle:you the demon
Johnny:It's kind of shot through with gray,
Johnny:wearing a big black overcoat.
Johnny:As you guys approach, he'll step out
Johnny:from around where he's hiding.
Johnny:And you'll see that he's not wearing boots.
Johnny:And his lower half ends in this black fur and cloven hooves.
Argyle:you the demon
Argyle:he's a demon
Johnny:And he looks like this.
Argyle:is he thick
Johnny:from the waist.
Gamemaster:Sucks.
Anzu:Oh no, he's hot.
Benny:First stop.
Johnny:Yeah, a real attractive guy.
Argyle:oh
Johnny:He's got this big, long rifle
Johnny:trained in Argyle's head.
Johnny:Stop!
Johnny:Oh, other very important thing to note.
Johnny:Big black Raymond.
Anzu:Hannah forgets what that means.
Benny:They're linked up with the Ashen Pact.
Johnny:Okay.
Argyle:Is he still invisible as he's doing this?
Benny:Aha.
Johnny:Size-wise, about the same size as everybody else's, but black.
Gamemaster:But, yeah.
Anzu:Dope.
Gamemaster:All of the things that you've seen so far with a Black Raymond have had some relationship to the Ashen Pact in some way.
Gamemaster:He was never invisible. He was camouflaged.
Argyle:Yeah.
Argyle:I see.
Gamemaster:So this nine-foot-tall figure jumping up from behind the rock or standing to his full height,
Gamemaster:You can see that he had covered himself in grass stains and mud so that he would blend in with the ground as he was moving.
Argyle:wait so he's not nine feet or he's nine feet tall oh okay
Benny:Are you with a group out here I guess we are a group out here so technically yeah
Johnny:Big dude, really big dude.
Gamemaster:But he's not invisible.
Gamemaster:And now that he's standing up against the perpetually gray sky, you can see his features.
Gamemaster:No, he's not too tall.
Gamemaster:No, he's not too tall.
Argyle:Did you bomb these people Yeah Wait did you bomb these people
Johnny:Are you with the group out here
Argyle:What are you doing here?
Johnny:What?
Johnny:I
Johnny:Who are you?
Johnny:What is happening up here?
Johnny:Why did the Strider stop?
Benny:hey why are you on the strider
Benny:we're gonna go check out the Voidsong
Argyle:What are you doing here?
Johnny:Why are you all on the Strider?
Johnny:Do I know what the Voidsong is?
Gamemaster:I think probably not
Gamemaster:because that would have happened after
Gamemaster:you would not know what the Voidsong is
Johnny:Hearing just the word song, he'll release the safety and say,
Johnny:Oh, so you're all with the fucking singers?
Benny:What?
Johnny:I'm not going back.
Johnny:You all hiding your raiments? Is that how you're doing this?
Argyle:what no I have a
Gamemaster:nope
Argyle:massive gold raiment why is yours black
Argyle:are you with the ashen pack
Johnny:Do I know that name either?
Benny:Bird, did you read any...
Benny:I'll call back.
Benny:Bird, have you read any books about...
Benny:What did you say?
Benny:Are you with someone? You hate the singers?
Johnny:Johnny will jog over too.
Argyle:Oh, I don't know if he's a sir.
Gamemaster:yeah
Anzu:singers
Benny:I feel like I'm playing charades.
Anzu:oh I jog over
Benny:Can you... Any help here?
Anzu:I was staying by the car
Anzu:sorry did you say the singers
Gamemaster:yeah
Anzu:Mr. Sir
Argyle:Mr. Sir.
Argyle:That's.
Johnny:Josh, this is a big question.
Johnny:Do I know Galzu?
Gamemaster:yeah you would have
Johnny:Would I see the resemblance?
Gamemaster:yeah
Gamemaster:I mean you interacted with Galzu and co previously I mean Galzu doesn quite look the same
Johnny:Thank you I whip the gun around and train it on the bird
Gamemaster:but she's got the same black coloration with blue tips of feathers.
Gamemaster:I think you'd probably see a resemblance there.
Johnny:So you and your, what, your sister, your aunt, niece, you're all in this together?
Johnny:I want to shoot the bird guy.
Argyle:that's progress.
Anzu:You know my sister?
Benny:Yeah, he's...
Argyle:That's progress.
Argyle:Don't shoot the bird.
Anzu:Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
Argyle:Just going to put it out there.
Argyle:You shoot this bird very bad.
Johnny:What's the problem here?
Anzu:Here's what I could tell you, Mr. Sir.
Anzu:I have heard of the singers.
Anzu:I assume you're talking about the singers of the...
Johnny:Yes, the Herald Starr.
Anzu:I look to the left and the right.
Johnny:can I have him roll a persuasion check
Anzu:Yeah, they kidnapped my sister.
Argyle:meanwhile uh meanwhile noah's character is just like he she kidnapped me
Gamemaster:Yeah. How persuasive is Anzu?
Anzu:I mean, no.
Gamemaster:Oh, nice. Anzu can be diplomatic when the mood strikes.
Anzu:The answer is no.
Johnny:I know
Johnny:Johnny's just like clipping out
Johnny:uh
Anzu:Wait, what is this?
Johnny:oh
Anzu:Oh, diplomacy.
Anzu:I actually do have some diplomacy.
Anzu:It's minimal, but it does exist.
Gamemaster:Never mind.
Anzu:Okay, I got a 31 crit.
Anzu:Ha ha ha!
Johnny:uh
Gamemaster:He's very persuasive.
Gamemaster:I take it back.
Argyle:What are you with?
Anzu:No.
Benny:I'm not
Johnny:this guy will stare you down
Johnny:and then he'll put the safety back on
Johnny:uh lower the gun
Johnny:you guys aren't
Johnny:with the singers
Johnny:then you've got to fucking help me
Anzu:No.
Anzu:No, there's...
Anzu:What is wrong?
Anzu:What is happening to you?
Anzu:Tell me what your ailment is it is
Argyle:I a doctor
Gamemaster:And then some stuff happened
Johnny:uh I used to captain a ship out in Lurandris and then one day
Johnny:What happened exactly?
Johnny:I gotta pull up my own backstory, hang on.
Johnny:Me and Josh conceived this character several weeks ago before all this happened.
Gamemaster:It kept happening.
Johnny:This character was made several weeks ago and then a lot of stuff happened.
Gamemaster:It's fine.
Johnny:I had a ship out in Lurandris and then one day I started hearing this song in my head.
Johnny:And then a bunch of guys on my crew heard it too.
Johnny:And I don't know, it seemed like a really good idea to sell the boat and go inward and hooked up with a bunch of the other singers.
Johnny:And they kind of herded us on here.
Johnny:It was like we were in a dream.
Anzu:Yeah, Galzu.
Johnny:And then I was, I've been on here for a while.
Johnny:They're just having me, I don't know, like hand out pamphlets and little stones with this little symbol, like a trumpet on it.
Johnny:And then I would have these moments of lucidity where I would know what was happening and then it would go back under.
Johnny:Except then they started bringing on more people.
Johnny:Like, what did you say, your sister?
Johnny:Yeah, they were bringing her on.
Johnny:and some of the guys that I came on with, they started doing things to them.
Anzu:The mandibles.
Benny:So your big ass was under the spell of this cult?
Johnny:One of the guys that I was with has, like, mandibles now, and they're...
Johnny:Anyway, the Strider started moving, and once the Strider started moving,
Johnny:I was able to surface again, and I came back to myself, and I've been trying to get out,
Johnny:but, you know, now the Strider fucking stopped, and I can hear this song in my head getting louder.
Johnny:You, child.
Johnny:You, child.
Johnny:Yeah.
Benny:they must have been
Benny:absolutely terrified at night that
Johnny:I don't think...
Argyle:it's just destiny rules
Gamemaster:That's what it is.
Anzu:you know very well that the height of a person is not equal to their strength
Benny:At any point, it would break, and you would come too.
Benny:How big are these?
Benny:Are they?
Johnny:I'm the smallest person there.
Benny:How big are?
Benny:Hold on.
Benny:Maybe I missed.
Benny:How big are the people in this cult?
Benny:Are they 11 feet tall?
Anzu:oh yeah
Johnny:Galzu is 15 feet tall.
Benny:Yeah, but.
Argyle:the larger you get the more powerful
Argyle:you are
Argyle:okay okay so
Johnny:No, but the longer we aren't moving, the worse it's getting.
Anzu:So you are not currently compelled to follow the directives of the song in your head?
Benny:Grab them in.
Argyle:do you
Argyle:wait wait
Johnny:So...
Anzu:Okay.
Argyle:on to you needed someone
Argyle:with the song to be able to figure out how to get the song out
Argyle:we could use him
Argyle:Hey, um, Mr. Sir, can you, like, fit on the top of our car?
Anzu:Yeah.
Anzu:Mr. Sir, it actually seems like we need each other.
Johnny:I'm about the same height as
Gamemaster:Perfect.
Anzu:I think that probably he would fit, actually.
Benny:We have room in the trunk.
Argyle:I'd offer you a seat in. I don't think you'd fit.
Argyle:It was made for a very fat half-Giant, but, uh...
Johnny:gasoline
Anzu:Also, we used to put a bear in there.
Argyle:yeah it's true
Johnny:Johnny will
Benny:That's true.
Benny:We did use a little bear in there.
Argyle:yeah
Benny:It was alive and sentient.
Johnny:Oh
Anzu:Yeah.
Benny:Yeah.
Johnny:Oh
Johnny:Arctos
Johnny:I used to have a stuffed animal
Argyle:yeah he's pretty
Johnny:With him on my ship
Johnny:Sort of a good luck charm
Johnny:I
Argyle:did you get rid of it before the song came on
Argyle:um
Johnny:No
Johnny:I think it's still on the ship
Johnny:But
Johnny:Johnny will pipe in and go
Johnny:Uh guy
Johnny:What's your name
Johnny:Mr. Sir
Johnny:put down my gun uh name egan Egan Arithmites Good to meet you everyone who
Argyle:yeah
Argyle:Amen All right hold up though
Anzu:All right Egan Well I actually I mean this couldn be more serendipitous that you showed up
Anzu:I've been working on a device to do exactly what you're asking us to do.
Argyle:One quick thing.
Argyle:What's up with your arraignment?
Johnny:hears the singers
Argyle:Okay.
Gamemaster:I literally pick your favorite.
Benny:What's it normally?
Johnny:the Herald song has this
Johnny:it just kind of happened
Johnny:I actually didn't add that in my backstory.
Johnny:Josh, I'm from LaRandros.
Johnny:What would that probably be?
Argyle:The Scale.
Johnny:Yeah, the...
Johnny:What's the Scale again?
Gamemaster:The judge?
Argyle:Gold.
Johnny:The judge?
Argyle:The judge, yeah.
Gamemaster:The judge that...
Johnny:I don't know.
Johnny:The judge.
Gamemaster:Okay, I take it back.
Gamemaster:the one god that cannot be
Johnny:I don't know.
Benny:Okay.
Johnny:I don't know.
Gamemaster:like the patron of the
Gamemaster:pirate country
Gamemaster:is the god of laws
Johnny:uh oh yeah my my god
Gamemaster:pick any of the other ones
Gamemaster:that's my fault
Gamemaster:host
Johnny:uh
Johnny:Uh...
Gamemaster:compelled
Gamemaster:air pulse
Gamemaster:watcher
Gamemaster:Okay, that's fine.
Argyle:All right.
Anzu:With
Johnny:We'll say the...
Johnny:No, not that one.
Johnny:Uh...
Johnny:We'll say the compelled.
Gamemaster:That works.
Gamemaster:Compelled is great.
Argyle:Do you need to get patched up or anything?
Johnny:Uh, compelled.
Johnny:No, I'm good. Pretty tough. I'm really cold. I have a big jacket, but I'm pretty cold.
Argyle:How aren't you freezing out here?
Johnny:Well the part one was get out of down there because it hell There were rumors going around that there were a bunch of people up here
Argyle:Oh.
Argyle:Come on
Anzu:you So
Benny:What was the plan
Johnny:I was hoping I could just get up here and hide out for a little bit until the Strider got moving.
Johnny:But then people were flying around, and none of you seemed like you knew what you were doing.
Johnny:And I'm up here.
Argyle:Hey.
Gamemaster:The first thing that Egan saw when he snuck out of the elevator shaft underneath burnt holdings, because that's how he got to the surface, was somebody that looked almost identical to Galzu flying around the big weird machine in the center of the Strider.
Anzu:the most
Johnny:honestly if worse
Argyle:That would not have worked.
Anzu:you can
Gamemaster:Just like for context.
Anzu:you said that
Johnny:came to worse I was going to fight my way out
Argyle:That would have been your worst case for you.
Anzu:the motion of the strider
Anzu:weakened the
Anzu:hold on your mind?
Johnny:Yeah, while we were in motion, it was weaker.
Argyle:okay
Benny:Oh, so they're fucked down there right now.
Johnny:Oh yeah, I don't know. Everyone else seems kind of under it, but I've always been a tough cookie.
Argyle:what's up with the hoops and the fur
Argyle:are you part demon
Anzu:Whoa.
Argyle:no it's a fair question
Anzu:Come on, man.
Johnny:No, I'm part Minotaur.
Benny:No, that's a fair question.
Gamemaster:That's not a skill in this game.
Johnny:No, my mom was a Minotaur.
Johnny:This is a German ruleset photo.
Argyle:Oh, cool.
Argyle:Do I...
Argyle:I insight check that.
Argyle:Can I sense motive?
Argyle:I don't know.
Gamemaster:Yeah.
Gamemaster:Yeah, roll a perception check.
Argyle:Is that religion check for knowing
Argyle:demon mythology?
Gamemaster:I will allow you to roll a religion check here
Gamemaster:to see if he's lying about being a demon.
Argyle:Yeah, give me a second.
Gamemaster:Thank you What you get
Argyle:Religion.
Argyle:Thank you Fuck man
Argyle:Alright.
Argyle:25.
Gamemaster:So with a 25, I will say what Argyle knows of demons specifically is that either they'd be hiding the fact that they're demons,
Johnny:Thanks.
Argyle:okay
Gamemaster:and as such wouldn't be walking around with a lower half covered in fur and hooved,
Gamemaster:or they wouldn't be hiding that they're demons,
Gamemaster:and they would just tell you that they're a demon.
Argyle:I gotta put your shield away
Argyle:I believe you
Argyle:a divine entity and a demon
Johnny:What was your parents'...
Johnny:And I'll see you next time.
Argyle:the only person who can judge
Gamemaster:Okay, yeah, the six of you can pile into the car.
Anzu:Yeah, so really you have no place to judge, Argyle.
Anzu:That's what I was trying to get at.
Argyle:is the almighty judge
Argyle:of all ages
Anzu:Oh, God.
Anzu:I'm sorry about my word choice.
Anzu:Let's go home. It's cold.
Argyle:Alright, get in the car.
Argyle:He goes in the back.
Gamemaster:The car...
Gamemaster:the the the car is um like constructed to fit people of egan size so there is room for him
Gamemaster:if you don't want to make him it like sit in the trunk with the gas canisters um but
Argyle:There's an air filter in there.
Gamemaster:no i understand i'm not saying that he can't go in there i'm just saying that i don't know
Argyle:No, no, no.
Gamemaster:if you want to put your guest in the trunk.
Gamemaster:But, like, either way, regardless,
Gamemaster:the six of you can make your way back to the Fane
Gamemaster:that is your home base.
Gamemaster:As you pass through, there is a bing-bong...
Johnny:What?
Argyle:I turn to Egan
Gamemaster:as an intruder has entered into the area because Egan is not allow listed.
Gamemaster:Yes.
Argyle:would you consent
Argyle:to a ring of truth
Argyle:to find out if you are
Argyle:trying to betray us and destroy
Argyle:our fame
Argyle:and or kill us
Johnny:Sure, only if you consent to a ring of truth saying that you're actually going to help me and you're not working for the singers.
Johnny:What is going on up here, actually?
Argyle:Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Benny:Even harder.
Johnny:What-
Johnny:No, I don't really do magic.
Argyle:I consent to that.
Argyle:Can you cast that?
Argyle:Then why would you ask me?
Johnny:I thought you could do it.
Argyle:Tomorrow.
Argyle:I just wanted to see if you'd be willing to do it.
Johnny:Okay.
Argyle:I didn't have it prepared today.
Johnny:If you're lying, I'll kill you.
Argyle:You would not be able to kill me.
Johnny:I will kill you and everyone in this room.
Johnny:In the long rifle?
Argyle:I...
Argyle:How many bullets you got in there?
Benny:definitely not
Johnny:Currently just one.
Johnny:He'll look and there's the long rifle
Argyle:That's not enough.
Johnny:and there's also a sword that is also a gun.
Benny:not enough
Argyle:Not enough.
Benny:you need at least 10 weapons to get out of this room alive
Johnny:I need one gun that's also a sword.
Johnny:I think I can do it.
Argyle:How about your spirit?
Argyle:Is it strong?
Johnny:Unbreakable.
Johnny:We can get Benny to the scar right now.
Argyle:Well, I can rip it out of your sword.
Benny:Josh where's the gym
Benny:it's in the center though
Argyle:no no no we're fighting now
Gamemaster:The gym's back in the central rig if you wanted to go there.
Benny:so it's not in doomsday
Gamemaster:Yeah.
Benny:we'll have it in the gym tomorrow
Gamemaster:No, the gym's still around.
Benny:before
Benny:oh man so we really gotta
Johnny:This nine foot tall dude getting smacked around by Benny.
Benny:take care of Hallie now fair enough
Argyle:you yeah So we bring them in Yeah
Johnny:you Yeah
Gamemaster:you The Coalition of the Dead
Anzu:you just kind of mutually aligned entities it
Argyle:So since you're working with us, we're an alliance.
Argyle:Is that correct?
Johnny:Who are you guys?
Argyle:We're the coalition.
Johnny:Coalition of...
Anzu:yeah
Johnny:What?
Argyle:It's just the coalition.
Johnny:You got me.
Johnny:sort of a circular tautology there but okay
Argyle:the the comb
Gamemaster:mutually aligned entities.
Anzu:Oh.
Benny:I'm Benny
Gamemaster:Yeah.
Johnny:and what are your guys's names
Argyle:the comb
Argyle:argyle says a name in uh celestial that he's like that just no one can comprehend
Anzu:Anzu.
Benny:I'm Benny
Anzu:and this is my pal johnny skyfall
Argyle:yeah it's hard to play two characters
Johnny:Hey!
Gamemaster:Do you want me to play Johnny?
Johnny:Johnny is just an NPC at this moment.
Johnny:Hi, I'm Johnny Skyfall.
Benny:Okay.
Gamemaster:Or are you fine playing him?
Johnny:I'm fine playing him.
Anzu:Clue, no.
Gamemaster:I don't want to take the reins from you
Gamemaster:if you're playing him.
Gamemaster:Yeah, okay.
Johnny:No, he's still bop.
Johnny:He's bopping around in the back.
Argyle:Oh, yeah, yeah.
Gamemaster:Out of curiosity, just to double check,
Gamemaster:does anybody here speak Aklo other than Anzu?
Johnny:I think so.
Gamemaster:I mean other than Argyle
Gamemaster:I don't think so
Gamemaster:but I just wanted to double check
Johnny:Johnny.
Gamemaster:Aklo is
Johnny:Johnny speak.
Johnny:Speak Empyrean.
Johnny:Wow.
Johnny:That's cool.
Benny:No no no no no John Smith
Johnny:Egan speaks.
Johnny:Fay.
Johnny:Yep.
Argyle:Wait, is...
Argyle:Aquila's evil, though, right?
Johnny:I think it's like.
Gamemaster:oh sorry not Aklo
Argyle:Yeah.
Argyle:Yeah, it's Imperial.
Gamemaster:Imperium
Gamemaster:I read the wrong
Gamemaster:um
Johnny:Oh,
Gamemaster:okay so I just wanted to see Johnny would have understood the name that Argyle spoke That just what I wanted to clarify
Johnny:Johnny Speaks Empyrean speaks Empyrean
Argyle:it's like a really long name
Benny:table footboard
Gamemaster:Basically.
Benny:or whatever he's just saying words in celestial
Benny:laughter
Johnny:That's a wild name.
Benny:laughter
Benny:laughter
Benny:laughter
Benny:laughter
Argyle:Argyle the son of blank
Argyle:Yes
Johnny:Okay. And is one of you in charge, or...
Anzu:Yes.
Benny:No one here has named that.
Argyle:You can call me Argo
Argyle:Yes
Johnny:Okay. Uh, you said your name is Anzu?
Benny:Oh, but he's EA.
Benny:He tells us what to do.
Anzu:Yes.
Johnny:Did you come here because of your sister?
Anzu:No, but we both came here for somewhat similar reasons.
Anzu:this strider was supposed to be traveling very far voidward on the horizon.
Anzu:And we were chasing some kind of unknowable entity,
Anzu:creates a song separate from the one that is in your head.
Anzu:And there's a number of different factions here,
Anzu:all heading in that same direction
Anzu:with an array of motivations
Anzu:for what to do when they get there.
Anzu:I would like to think that some of us here
Anzu:were going in support of this song that we were hearing.
Anzu:The singers, I presume,
Anzu:are going as antagonists to that.
Anzu:With their own song.
Anzu:There a little bit of assumption happening there So yeah go ahead Argyle
Argyle:when is the garage do we go through the normal courtyard as in does he see our weird cult stage
Gamemaster:you Yeah he would see your stage
Argyle:all right we don't acknowledge that obviously um our guy would like offer to bring him on top of
Argyle:the walls so we can see like our lookout or something walk around and then our guy was just
Argyle:gonna be like that guy's a necromancer trying to kill us that guy's a necromancer's best friend
Johnny:Oh, we're at War. Okay, that I know. That's great.
Anzu:we're in a ceasefire currently
Benny:okay
Argyle:trying to kill us
Argyle:it
Anzu:due to the state of the Strider.
Benny:hmm
Anzu:No, no, we're trying not to be at War right now.
Johnny:We gotta kill someone. Great, okay.
Anzu:We're trying not to be at War.
Johnny:Egan, the second he has an enemy, is like, awesome, I'm in.
Anzu:Now, Egan, here's what's really, really fascinating
Anzu:about you showing up now.
Anzu:So my sister,
Anzu:similar to yourself,
Anzu:was
Anzu:betranced, enchanted
Anzu:by the Herald.
Anzu:And I don't like that for her.
Anzu:And I don't like it for you either.
Anzu:So I've been trying to create
Anzu:a device
Anzu:or a spell
Anzu:or something that can silence that entity.
Johnny:Listen.
Anzu:I don't know if I can permanently clear it,
Anzu:but I'm working on it for now,
Anzu:at least a temporary device.
Johnny:Listen.
Johnny:You guys obviously have a lot of things going on.
Johnny:I'm stuck here.
Johnny:But also, somebody really fucked up my life.
Johnny:So if you get this song out of my head,
Johnny:I'll fuck up the singers.
Johnny:I'll fuck up the necromancer.
Johnny:I'll fuck up anyone you need fucking up
Anzu:yeah that is
Argyle:I go hold out his hand.
Benny:there
Johnny:you will hold his out.
Argyle:I had to shake it.
Gamemaster:Can I, just for my own sake, because I...
Anzu:but it has the strength of a nine-year-old.
Johnny:It just consumes it.
Johnny:Just enormous.
Gamemaster:Because I was not aware of this, just to clarify.
Gamemaster:I did not know about his lower half.
Gamemaster:I only know about the ancestry on the sheet that you gave me.
Gamemaster:How many legs does he have?
Johnny:He says two legs.
Gamemaster:Okay, cool.
Johnny:He has two legs.
Gamemaster:Just, that's fine.
Gamemaster:Gotcha.
Johnny:He has the lower half of a minotaur and the upper half of a human.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Johnny:Do with that what you will, Josh.
Gamemaster:Gotcha.
Gamemaster:That's fine.
Gamemaster:That works.
Gamemaster:I just, I had not read the description correctly, and I saw your character sheet, and I just
Gamemaster:expected him to have more legs than you described him with.
Gamemaster:It's fine.
Gamemaster:I apologize.
Gamemaster:Nine for Tall Man.
Gamemaster:Ignore what I said.
Johnny:Good grip.
Gamemaster:He's like three pennies tall.
Benny:what does Benny feel
Benny:when he's shaking it
Benny:what is the grip compared to Benny's
Gamemaster:Ooh.
Johnny:What's your strength?
Gamemaster:It is, depending on whether or not
Gamemaster:Betty is wearing his gloves, identical.
Benny:fair enough
Benny:Benny
Johnny:Wait, what gloves is Benny wearing?
Gamemaster:Grub gloves.
Benny:he also has a lifting belt
Benny:but yeah
Johnny:Johnny, not Johnny, Egan has a pair of gloves identical to Benny's.
Gamemaster:What does the lifting belt give you?
Benny:Nice.
Gamemaster:Oh.
Gamemaster:So then I think they are just...
Gamemaster:Oh, maybe it was the lifting belt and not the grub gloves.
Benny:They both do.
Gamemaster:What gives you the plus one to athletics checks?
Gamemaster:Is it the same bonus?
Benny:Yeah.
Benny:Plus one item.
Gamemaster:Oh, it's plus one item.
Gamemaster:Okay, so it doesn't matter.
Benny:Yeah.
Gamemaster:I think I just missed that when I was building his character I need to give you the that fine Either way very similarly powerful grip if we metagaming ability scores
Johnny:you Big dude strong dude has a lot of guns on him
Argyle:you Hey you want some food
Gamemaster:I don't know if these are true.
Johnny:Always.
Argyle:All right, great.
Argyle:Let's give you a tour of the place.
Argyle:There's also some people that really like guns.
Johnny:Oh, great. I'll fit right in. I'm a crack shot.
Argyle:Yeah.
Argyle:Cool, cool, cool, cool.
Argyle:Cool.
Gamemaster:Absolutely.
Gamemaster:And you can bring your new companion, albeit possibly temporarily, it's unclear, into your fame.
Gamemaster:Of course, to, like, agape, surprised faces of everybody who is currently living under your roof
Gamemaster:as you've shown up with somebody that they have not seen before.
Gamemaster:And they would know everybody in your group, given that they've been living with you for a few days.
Gamemaster:this point. And so I think the first thing is, Anaïs, one of the twins, the
Gamemaster:boy, will like pop his head out of his workshop and say, did you bring guests? I
Johnny:I'm Egan.
Anzu:Vegan.
Gamemaster:do not know this one.
Gamemaster:You see someone who looks like me, but is less handsome, that is her.
Gamemaster:Why are you so tall and made of fur, but only on the bottom half?
Johnny:My mom was a minotaur.
Johnny:Why are you so short and not made of fur?
Johnny:Well that settled world
Gamemaster:My mom was not a minotaur.
Gamemaster:Excellent you will fit in well here And he will pop his head back in seemingly unconcerned at this point
Argyle:Well Well yeah
Benny:Benny would like to
Gamemaster:He is... the twins are probably the only ones here that would understand the relevance of a Black Raymond,
Gamemaster:since I think you guys have not shared that information with any of the other people, but he seems unconcerned.
Gamemaster:absolutely um egan will not resonate
Benny:resonate
Argyle:um do the two to the two pencil pushers that um that came along with the drunk do they resonate
Benny:We have to kill him.
Gamemaster:yeah oh wait no no they wouldn't have i'm sorry salvado would have they wouldn't have
Argyle:okay
Gamemaster:they just got brought along for the ride
Argyle:so they say
Gamemaster:so they say
Argyle:I still think they might be plumbers
Argyle:and they're twins
Gamemaster:the story that they have given you
Johnny:Yeah, if we can get this out of my head first and then go to Tally, I'd prefer that.
Gamemaster:is that they
Gamemaster:were just brought along with
Gamemaster:Salvado and are now
Gamemaster:stuck here
Gamemaster:they've been pretty
Gamemaster:good at acting if they're lying
Gamemaster:because they've kept up this scared facade
Gamemaster:for a while
Argyle:yeah
Argyle:so you guys want to go to
Argyle:tally tomorrow
Argyle:All right.
Benny:yeah now you remember how I was like
Johnny:Yeah, I mean, I'd like to fuck him up.
Benny:asking earlier, like,
Benny:big guy, scary guy,
Benny:aren't they worried that the song
Benny:will break at some point
Benny:and not work on you? We have
Benny:now the inverse fear, so
Benny:we should go to Tali first thing
Benny:in the morning, because if you become
Benny:possessed by the Herald,
Benny:we don't want to
Benny:have a... I mean, we just don't want to...
Benny:There's already so many bodies...
Johnny:it seems like most of the people down there you can really tell they deeper into it than I am I don know if it because they joined World War I or
Argyle:This is tough.
Benny:Well actually do we have time this evening then for Dr Anzu to mind meld
Benny:Because the other option is going in and killing everyone except Anzu's sister.
Benny:And the way you're describing it, it may be like they're salvageable at some point.
Benny:And we kind of need all the help we can get.
Benny:So, Anzu, if you want to just figure out his brain and then apply that.
Argyle:That's really messed up.
Gamemaster:Did he?
Anzu:Yeah, I'm starting to feel really terrible for all the people down there
Anzu:who've been similarly usurped from their own lives.
Benny:Well, it's not being sensitive.
Benny:You said who've?
Benny:He's right here.
Gamemaster:Did he?
Anzu:I said usurp.
Gamemaster:Yeah.
Benny:You said who've been usurped?
Gamemaster:Ah.
Johnny:I'm used to it
Anzu:Oof.
Gamemaster:Ah.
Benny:I know they're on the floor.
Gamemaster:Ah.
Gamemaster:I don't know.
Anzu:Benny, that's low.
Johnny:well he's pretty short
Anzu:All right.
Anzu:Egan, part of this process means that you're my guinea pig.
Johnny:careful kid
Johnny:you can just like
Anzu:I don't really know what's going to happen,
Anzu:but what I need to figure this out is someone like you
Anzu:who has the song in their head.
Johnny:bends in half and puts his head in front of
Anzu:Oh, let's go to the workshop, I think.
Johnny:Anzu
Johnny:alright
Argyle:but
Gamemaster:Absolutely.
Anzu:I summon Mythic Power on the way.
Gamemaster:You head over to the workshop.
Gamemaster:Sure, you head over to the workshop.
Gamemaster:They are working on...
Gamemaster:Gosh, you didn't put them to work on anything else, did you?
Gamemaster:They're doing the Minesweeper, but besides that...
Argyle:one thing
Gamemaster:No, they already have the Minesweeper.
Argyle:the um
Argyle:the run gunner
Argyle:sorry
Argyle:the raided arms they got the
Argyle:extra room, which I assume they use to make the distillery. Are
Gamemaster:Hm?
Gamemaster:Correct.
Argyle:Are they working with the twins on that, maybe?
Gamemaster:they haven't been interacting with the twins.
Argyle:Are the twins helping with this?
Gamemaster:They're doing their own thing.
Argyle:Okay.
Gamemaster:The twins are busy putting together...
Gamemaster:They're both crowded around a piece of glass,
Gamemaster:a cylinder about this large, about this high,
Gamemaster:filled with a clear liquid,
Gamemaster:and floating in the middle of the clear liquid
Gamemaster:is another denser, spiky-looking black liquid.
Gamemaster:And they're poking it with a stick.
Gamemaster:they do not really take notice of you guys as you come in
Argyle:There we go.
Anzu:I'm freaking getting out my tools
Gamemaster:what's she doing in the workshop
Anzu:and my items
Anzu:and
Anzu:gonna do whatever it is
Anzu:I felt like I needed
Anzu:someone like Egan for
Anzu:yeah why not
Gamemaster:absolutely
Gamemaster:roll
Gamemaster:excuse me
Gamemaster:roll an occultism check
Gamemaster:the dc here isn't particularly high given that you've done a lot of work up to this point to
Johnny:Can I go?
Argyle:I don't have any more heroism today, so I cannot give it to you.
Anzu:Guidance is fun enough.
Gamemaster:like get into the position where you can try and do things but you still got to do it
Johnny:Can I even aid this?
Gamemaster:guidance gives you a plus one and then johnny can attempt to aid
Gamemaster:uh 40 to 8 is a crit
Anzu:I will maintain connection to my vessel
Argyle:I can't rip the spirit from your vessel, if that would help you, though.
Johnny:This is...
Johnny:I got a 40 to aid.
Anzu:oh
Anzu:oh my gosh
Johnny:You get a plus three.
Anzu:um
Anzu:okay so plus four total
Anzu:is kind of dope
Gamemaster:37 is not bad at all.
Anzu:yeah 37
Anzu:that sounds pretty good
Gamemaster:Okay so here the thing You putting together you done some research You needed to get an idea of what was actually going on in their head as an example the song bouncing around
Gamemaster:And you had a little bit of the extra stuff with Egan talking about how it seemed to lessen while you were in motion in some way, which was interesting on itself.
Gamemaster:and I think the answer that Anzu comes to
Gamemaster:in this first bit of research
Gamemaster:because this is all within the first few days of him
Gamemaster:trying it is
Gamemaster:the
Gamemaster:interesting thing here
Gamemaster:is that it appears that
Gamemaster:the harmonies
Gamemaster:interfere with
Gamemaster:each other
Gamemaster:Anzu you know that you have
Gamemaster:the Herald song bouncing around in at
Gamemaster:least some small capacity in your own
Gamemaster:head, but it doesn't seem to have taken your agency, at least at the moment, and you gather
Gamemaster:that that might be because you already have the Voidsong there, and it's kind of taken up most
Gamemaster:of the space and stopping it from really grabbing a hold. Similarly, Egan has for a very long time
Gamemaster:only had the Herald Song bouncing around in his head, but something about the proximity to you
Gamemaster:guys and this big gyroscope and moving voidward and the Voidsong has tenuously temporarily
Gamemaster:broken that song's hold over him similarly interference here uh so as for ways to pull
Anzu:Oh, I like that, actually.
Gamemaster:the song out of his head you're not sure as for ways of reducing its influence over the person
Gamemaster:you've got an idea
Gamemaster:get
Gamemaster:the Voidsong into that person's
Gamemaster:head
Gamemaster:which then raises the question
Gamemaster:can you get the Voidsong into somebody else head Anzu gone into somebody head before
Gamemaster:That might work.
Gamemaster:It'd be an interesting, it'd be the first known case of somebody giving the Voidsong to somebody else or propagating the Voidsong to somebody else.
Gamemaster:You're in effect proselytizing on behalf of the Voidsong.
Gamemaster:But it is, in theory, possible.
Anzu:so I'm going to have to really get in there
Anzu:I don't know what I'm going to see in there
Anzu:what do I even have
Johnny:It's just an endless stream of vegan having diarrhea.
Benny:every time Egan's had diarrhea
Benny:it's like that POV video
Benny:of the dude that's just like what no and he's just
Benny:like right you can see his head she's like running to the bathroom
Benny:and then he falls and you hear like
Benny:just him just farting and he's
Benny:like no no I'm
Benny:he didn't make it
Benny:the time.
Anzu:Yeah, I don't actually have a mechanical way of going into somebody's head.
Argyle:To aid Anzu,
Gamemaster:No, no, no, no, no.
Gamemaster:You have, uh, psychic, um, you've been doing a bunch of research, and we can set it up
Gamemaster:so that you can mindmeld again in a similar way to what you did to the, uh, the Herald
Gamemaster:skin in the bat.
Anzu:All right, I mean, frick, I'm going to try to get in there.
Argyle:Can I attempt a fifth level clear mind on him first I don expect this to really make much of a difference with the current song but I hoping to weaken it or give him some room This is just trying to be an A check
Gamemaster:Thank you Okay
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:Yeah, I mean, that's not how the clear mind spell is supposed to work,
Gamemaster:but I understand the effect that you're going for.
Argyle:Why not?
Gamemaster:Because clear mind drives an effect that is affecting the person out of their head.
Gamemaster:It is not a preemptive thing.
Argyle:at fourth level I could
Gamemaster:Yeah, if he were controlled or confused, you could help make a counteract check against that.
Anzu:Now...
Benny:What's the other question?
Argyle:remove controlled or confused
Benny:.
Argyle:oh yeah
Gamemaster:But it isn't like a...
Benny:.
Gamemaster:Like, you remove the effect that's on him.
Gamemaster:You're not giving him a proactive, preemptive block, you know?
Argyle:oh yeah
Argyle:I was just trying to remove any little bit of
Argyle:controlled from the whole thing
Gamemaster:You can try.
Anzu:...
Anzu:I have a kind of somewhat similar question.
Gamemaster:Yes, it does.
Anzu:Soothe gives the target a status bonus to saves against mental effects.
Anzu:Does Anzu feel like that would make Egan bolstered against Anzu?
Gamemaster:I think without a roll
Anzu:Is there any way I could even make a conjecture like that?
Anzu:All right.
Gamemaster:the answer here is that
Gamemaster:soothe
Gamemaster:soothe would be
Gamemaster:a double edged sword
Gamemaster:in this particular instance
Gamemaster:because it would make it
Gamemaster:easier for Egan to repel
Gamemaster:any influence the Herald
Gamemaster:has over him, which might help
Gamemaster:in terms of getting the Voidsong situated
Gamemaster:and all that stuff, it will also
Gamemaster:make it harder for Anzu to get in there
Gamemaster:in the first place.
Anzu:I think we leave it be and just go in raw.
Gamemaster:So.
Johnny:I
Argyle:do you think it's tied to his spirit
Gamemaster:Is that a thing Argyle can do?
Anzu:No, I think maybe let me kind of handle this.
Benny:I feel like we did that last session.
Argyle:should I try to rip the spirit from his body first
Argyle:what about unraveling existence
Argyle:do you think that'd be helpful
Argyle:yeah there's time
Johnny:What are you doing
Argyle:Dark Owl really wants to use his two new spells
Argyle:rip the spirit and unravel
Argyle:existence
Johnny:These
Anzu:Dude.
Anzu:are these Josh spells or are these Pathfinder spells?
Argyle:These are real Pathfinder spells.
Gamemaster:No, these are Pathfinder spells. This is just a regular arcane and divine spell. It's new, it's from Impossible Magic, but still.
Gamemaster:Sure. For the record, I'm pretty sure that Anzu could cast Rip the Spirit if he wanted to.
Argyle:I really want to use Rip the Spirit.
Argyle:It just sounds like a Doctor Strange punch.
Anzu:I don't get to look at any of those kinds of things.
Argyle:Fine, I won't cleanse mine or anything.
Anzu:Josh, I guess I'm just going to try to enter his mind.
Argyle:I'll just let you do it.
Argyle:unravel existence
Anzu:Oh, you said Divine Arcane before, that's why.
Johnny:Please.
Gamemaster:But it's an occult spell.
Gamemaster:no the other one
Anzu:...
Gamemaster:rip the spirit is divine and occult
Anzu:...
Anzu:...
Gamemaster:the other one
Anzu:...
Gamemaster:the unravel
Gamemaster:existence is arcane and divine
Gamemaster:sorry
Anzu:...
Gamemaster:okay so you're not
Gamemaster:unraveling existence you're not ripping out somebody's
Anzu:...
Anzu:...
Gamemaster:spirit you're not soothing
Gamemaster:you're just you just have a plus four to this
Anzu:...
Anzu:Yeah, yeah.
Gamemaster:oh you already rolled the occultism check
Gamemaster:you wanna jump into his mind
Johnny:Thank you Thank you I can do it for this guy we just met
Gamemaster:okay i will say because you rolled well um
Gamemaster:uh you are attempting to give the Voidsong to another creature um and so it would
Gamemaster:behoove you um to have more sources of the Voidsong around with you could if you wish incorporate the rest of your party into this to give you a bonus here in printing the Voidsong on with the caveat that it will also expose them to
Argyle:I don't really care that much for Egan.
Anzu:Oh Oh
Benny:you I can handle it
Gamemaster:any dangers that may or may not be occurring within Egan's brain. Just
Gamemaster:putting that out there.
Argyle:I'll do it. I'll do it.
Argyle:It is right and just. I should do this.
Johnny:Yeah.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Anzu:Everybody's in.
Benny:Then he'll do it.
Gamemaster:What I want here is I need somebody to make an occultism check,
Gamemaster:somebody to make a religion check,
Gamemaster:and somebody to make an arcana check, please.
Gamemaster:Also, Egan, make a will save.
Anzu:All right.
Anzu:Well, I simply must make the occultism check.
Johnny:We'll save.
Gamemaster:I mean, you don't have to.
Anzu:Yeah.
Benny:Occultism, Arcana, and...
Gamemaster:Religion.
Benny:Uh...
Gamemaster:And then Ekin is making a will save.
Benny:Are you sure you want to make the occultism check, Anzu?
Anzu:Well, who else is going to make the occultism check?
Benny:Benny.
Benny:Unless more than one person can make a check.
Gamemaster:Only one person can make each check.
Gamemaster:four.
Benny:How many people do we have?
Johnny:Please.
Johnny:Please.
Johnny:Please hear a point on that.
Johnny:So, if I'm an expert, I use Mythic.
Argyle:assuming Benny's thinks he can make a better
Anzu:Then Arcana.
Benny:Yes, he definitely can.
Argyle:occultism than Kana.
Anzu:Interesting. Alright, I can make the Arcana check.
Argyle:Yeah.
Benny:All right.
Argyle:So.
Benny:All right.
Johnny:What is that?
Johnny:That's an extra six?
Anzu:Sounds right to me.
Gamemaster:Yes.
Argyle:Argyle
Argyle:is feeling very holy recently
Gamemaster:42 will save That ridiculous
Argyle:and got a 41.
Benny:Perfect.
Johnny:Oh that way better Egan got a 42 will save
Argyle:you Is that good or bad
Anzu:you No it all part of the plan
Benny:Thank you I call this
Argyle:Is he resisting us?
Gamemaster:I'm not telling you.
Argyle:Okay, okay.
Anzu:Josh, we got a lot of pretty solid rolls.
Anzu:The Arcana check is a 38.
Anzu:Legend, 41.
Anzu:Occultism, 33.
Benny:Yes.
Gamemaster:Okay. Those are all very good rolls.
Gamemaster:Alrighty, sorry I'm just loading something.
Gamemaster:Okay, so you gotta do this little everybody holds hands and kind of
Gamemaster:circles around Egan. Egan does happen to be a good handful of feet taller than the
Gamemaster:tallest member of the party, so it is a bit of an interesting sight to see the
Gamemaster:four of you circled around him. Anzu is extending his
Gamemaster:extending his mind into Egan's and he finds that there is a a pretty strong
Gamemaster:resistance at first, but because you are friendly in this instance I am assuming
Gamemaster:Egan will allow the intrusion into his mind if he so chooses. And the four of
Gamemaster:you surrounding Egan feel your consciousness being pulled in through
Gamemaster:like almost capillary action through Anzu into Egan's head, and everybody else
Gamemaster:uh in the workshop all two of them uh watches the five of you just collapse unconscious uh
Gamemaster:onto the ground um the uh i should probably do a music change here The four of you I don have a good one
Gamemaster:We'll do this one.
Gamemaster:No, we won't. That's terrible.
Gamemaster:The five of you, sorry, feel this jolt.
Gamemaster:Not quite teleporting, because you're not teleporting.
Gamemaster:As you find yourselves in a vision,
Gamemaster:albeit one very different from the one that Anzu had to grab seeing the Elderkin in.
Gamemaster:You are on a ship.
Gamemaster:You're on a ship is probably the wrong term for it.
Gamemaster:You're on a mishmash of ships.
Gamemaster:You are on, like, three ships that have been stacked on top of each other in such a way to form a kind of moving, roving fortress in the water somewhere.
Gamemaster:Waters that are not familiar to any of you except for Egan.
Gamemaster:This is your brain.
Gamemaster:You're in your head.
Gamemaster:This is...
Gamemaster:You've been here before.
Gamemaster:This is a convocation, which is...
Gamemaster:Lorandris doesn't really have a proper government in the same way that other countries do.
Gamemaster:they really just have the pirate's code and extensions thereof.
Gamemaster:And this is a kind of neutral meeting ground
Gamemaster:that pirates and other naively inclined folk would use to meet.
Gamemaster:This one in particular is familiar to you because you had been here previously.
Gamemaster:In fact, this is where you had originally found the necklace,
Gamemaster:the one that got you into this mess in the first place.
Gamemaster:This is not a particularly happy memory.
Gamemaster:in this
Gamemaster:instance.
Gamemaster:You, Egan, are
Gamemaster:stood in front of one of
Gamemaster:a handful of
Gamemaster:merchant stalls
Gamemaster:looking at this
Gamemaster:bone carved necklace
Gamemaster:holding it in your hands
Gamemaster:the four remaining party
Gamemaster:the ones that have been brought into his head here
Gamemaster:appear
Gamemaster:and you see
Gamemaster:reaching out of this necklace
Gamemaster:is this
Gamemaster:black smoke
Gamemaster:forming many hands
Gamemaster:coming out of the necklace
Gamemaster:trying to grab onto Egan's face
Gamemaster:and pull him towards the necklace
Gamemaster:and then I will
Gamemaster:one second
Gamemaster:Let me see if I can drag you guys over here.
Johnny:You mean...
Argyle:Anzu, did you bring your Dispel Smoke spell?
Anzu:um
Gamemaster:Over here, over there, over there, over there, over here.
Argyle:No.
Johnny:Oh.
Gamemaster:God, you're so huge.
Johnny:Oh.
Johnny:Oh.
Johnny:Yeah, I'm a big guy.
Gamemaster:second. They're over here. And I don't actually have the token for it, but I
Johnny:I am large.
Anzu:Are you a large creature?
Anzu:Oh boy.
Johnny:I...
Johnny:Egan's a big mamma jamma.
Gamemaster:don't think it matters because we're not entering combat just yet, but imagine
Gamemaster:that in front of this area there is a necklace right here pulling on Egan's
Gamemaster:face, and that's where we'll end the session for today.
Gamemaster:If that's acceptable.
Johnny:Egan.
Anzu:Egan!
Benny:Huh?
Anzu:The solution to my problems.
Gamemaster:Yes.
Johnny:I came up with this character, like, a month ago, because I was like, oh, we're going, we're going to go off-board.
Johnny:We're going to go hunting things.
Johnny:That's not really Johnny's forte.
Johnny:We should have another big striker.
Johnny:And now we're here.
Gamemaster:I had originally when he like brought up the idea I was thinking oh you would find this guy like in the menagerie if you went or like maybe over by Glacier or something um and then you like nope we doing other stuff um a bunch of times but it fine
Johnny:you Josh did you have the gun that shoots golden needles before Egan was a gunslinger or is
Johnny:it always that?
Gamemaster:Yes. No, completely unrelated to Egan, unfortunately, uh, there has just always been,
Gamemaster:the gun that shoots
Gamemaster:holy gold at people.
Gamemaster:Like, full disclosure,
Argyle:Did you foresee us not shooting the men here?
Gamemaster:the Menhir
Gamemaster:gun
Gamemaster:kill all of the gods plotline
Gamemaster:has been in existence
Gamemaster:for a long time,
Gamemaster:and I assumed it would continue to not
Gamemaster:be relevant to the current campaign for much longer
Gamemaster:than it was, which
Gamemaster:is fine, but Egan was
Gamemaster:not the result. Egan was not the
Gamemaster:reason that you guys found a gun instead of, like,
Gamemaster:a sword.
Gamemaster:I thought it was definitely possible.
Argyle:Yeah, we didn't want to.
Gamemaster:Like, I didn't know if you guys would want to shoot the men here.
Gamemaster:I don't think you did, but I think you were, in the end, okay with it.
Argyle:We didn't want to shoot the men here.
Gamemaster:Well, like, there is a world where you're like,
Gamemaster:I don't want to shoot the men here, and so you don't.
Gamemaster:Like, that's not a crazy leap, you know?
Gamemaster:Yeah.
Argyle:I didn't think that was an option.
Argyle:I thought the men here was like, you're staying here until we die.
Gamemaster:You didn't at any point attempt to not take the gun.
Johnny:We can't leave the...
Argyle:I just.
Anzu:Yeah, we did pick up the gun pretty...
Benny:that's
Gamemaster:Like, you could have put the gun back.
Gamemaster:That was an option.
Gamemaster:It was just, once the gun was in your hands, you're like, how do we get out of here with the gun?
Benny:okay but to be fair it was not clear like what the consequences were of shooting it so it was
Gamemaster:It's very much, it's monkey with its hand in the cookie jar, is what it is.
Gamemaster:no
Benny:like, oh, we have the gun. It wasn't
Gamemaster:well with all due respect I think you can say it wasn clear what would happen if I point the god killer weapon at the god
Benny:like you can shoot the Menhir and keep the gun or you can leave without shooting the Menhir then that would have been more explicit
Gamemaster:Like, I don't think that one's on me.
Benny:but we didn't know for sure
Benny:we're like oh does it kill one of the Menhir
Gamemaster:Oh, oh, of course.
Gamemaster:Sure.
Gamemaster:I think you would have more of a right to be confused at me if you shot the godkiller gun at the god and it didn't kill the god.
Argyle:what would have
Gamemaster:I think if you shot the needle at the menhir and the menhir wasn't affected, that would be more confusing.
Argyle:what would have happened if like
Argyle:Argyle put the gun to his own head and shot him
Argyle:would you be like Jorge roll a new character
Gamemaster:No, it wouldn't have fired.
Argyle:okay
Gamemaster:unfortunately
Argyle:Diamond's so funny
Benny:Oh no.
Gamemaster:Argyle is not a divine
Gamemaster:enough entity for
Johnny:I'm doing it.
Argyle:that would be so funny if you were just like
Anzu:Probably would work on Anzu, though.
Gamemaster:the firearm to count him
Gamemaster:as a valid target
Gamemaster:it would have worked
Gamemaster:on Anzu yes if you had pointed it at Anzu
Gamemaster:it would have shot him dead
Benny:We should have killed Anzu
Gamemaster:I don't know.
Benny:and kept the Menhir.
Anzu:That might have been the smart move.
Benny:Oh, that means that our
Benny:dastardly plan,
Benny:if we ever get cornered by like
Benny:eight, I don't know,
Benny:dragons that are not
Benny:divine, we can't just start popping
Johnny:Thanks for watching!
Argyle:Did you imagine if we shot one of ourselves
Anzu:The end.
Benny:them with the god killing gun.
Benny:Like, well, I don't know what to do. We could kill four
Benny:less gods now, but at least we didn't
Benny:die to those dragons.
Argyle:and then Josh let it go through
Gamemaster:The end.
Argyle:and it's like, well, now you have one less bullet
Argyle:and you roll a new character.
Argyle:That one's gone, guys.
Benny:...
Argyle:There's no coming back from this one, guys.
Argyle:He's gone.
Gamemaster:There we go.
Gamemaster:There's a big dragon for you.
Gamemaster:Yeah.
Johnny:Oh no Oh Josh can I get some ammunition
Anzu:I shoot it with the end
Gamemaster:It not dragon it just a dragon
Gamemaster:that critically misses
Anzu:Darn it.
Anzu:Put it back in my sleeve.
Gamemaster:that also critically misses
Johnny:How do I get ammunition?
Gamemaster:no
Gamemaster:yes you can get ammunition
Gamemaster:you got a natural 20
Anzu:Oh.
Anzu:Benny hit.
Benny:Oh for a 40 grit for 40 natural 20 is a hit nice
Gamemaster:yeah 40 natural 20 is a hit
Gamemaster:I will get you some ammo
Gamemaster:what do you need ammo for?
Gamemaster:your gun sword or your long rifle?
Johnny:Yeah
Johnny:The gun sword just like regular ammunition think I have a feat that lets me make bullets
Johnny:So I would just have like a bunch of regular bullets
Gamemaster:you would
Gamemaster:you would have ammo
Gamemaster:like that's that's fine. Gun, sword, rounds.
Anzu:And now we can kill off Johnny, finally.
Johnny:In a bunch of a bunch of regular bullets to stab stuff
Johnny:I'm very excited to play this character
Gamemaster:Okay I'm gonna give you 20 gun, sword, rounds and then 20 long rifle rounds.
Johnny:he is good at fighting stuff
Gamemaster:Why aren't... why is someone... did someone just die so hard? And now you can finally kill off
Gamemaster:Johnny. Here, one second. The dragon makes a Jaws attack on Johnny. The dragon rolled
Johnny:this is a temporary character
Johnny:putting that out there, Johnny is still my main character
Anzu:I attacked Johnny with my beak.
Johnny:I just brought this guy in temporarily, please don't kill Johnny
Johnny:Oh no
Johnny:I think I'm dead
Anzu:Oh, that's not going to be good.
Gamemaster:a 50, so that's a crit. Let's see. 96 damage. And then you have to attempt this Fortitude
Johnny:I think I'm instantly dead
Johnny:Oh I'm alive
Johnny:Wait
Johnny:I have two hit points
Johnny:Okay let's see
Gamemaster:save.
Johnny:we can never
Benny:I don't know.
Gamemaster:Natural 20. Nice.
Johnny:recede any
Johnny:Any of the things that we have, any of the dice bots?
Gamemaster:A natural 20 makes it a 36, which is because you crit a success.
Gamemaster:So I think you're drained one, which lowers your hit points equal to your level.
Johnny:Oh, I'm dead.
Gamemaster:Listen, I put the level 20 Ancient Umbral Dragon onto the field just because I was curious.
Johnny:For now.
Gamemaster:it is good to know that a level 20 ancient umple dragon can still kill your level 9 characters.
Benny:That makes sense.
Gamemaster:Because, you know, just to remind you,
Gamemaster:because the kind of things that you have been doing have been closer to level 15, level 16, to level 20 character things.
Gamemaster:You are level 9.
Benny:We understand.
Gamemaster:I just, you know, I just need to put that out there.
Benny:Practice humility.
Gamemaster:Yeah, practice a little bit of humility.
Gamemaster:Maybe.
Johnny:Oh no.
Argyle:You know, if you kill these characters,
Gamemaster:Or else this guy's gonna cast Shadowblast on you.
Argyle:the next batch of characters are going to be a rolling death squad.
Gamemaster:What do you mean the next batch are gonna be a rolling death squad?
Argyle:Yeah.
Argyle:We're going to have...
Gamemaster:Benny and Argyle are both already pretty heavy hitters.
Argyle:We're going to have...
Argyle:if he hits
Gamemaster:Actually, Anzu I think is the second highest GPS of the party.
Benny:yeah Benny is just
Gamemaster:He can put out a lot of damage pretty quickly.
Johnny:excited
Gamemaster:And now we have Egan, who is also a pretty heavy hitter.
Anzu:And he's the new face.
Argyle:yeah
Johnny:yeah
Benny:oh god
Anzu:...
Gamemaster:And he's the new face.
Johnny:he definitely doesn't have a minus one to charisma
Anzu:I've got 11.
Johnny:I did take
Gamemaster:Actually, he's trained in diplomacy.
Gamemaster:So it's not the end of the world.
Johnny:I think I did untrained improvisation or something
Argyle:What's the highest diplomacy we have now?
Johnny:I mean Johnny still sticking around I just brought Egan in for some fights For diplomacy 20
Benny:We in dire straits
Argyle:I got 13
Argyle:Yeah, no, that's
Argyle:Argyle. No, that's Johnny.
Argyle:That's Johnny. That's different.
Argyle:Johnny won't be around.
Argyle:Johnny's gonna die.
Johnny:Oh, no.
Argyle:See?
Argyle:we're gonna drown johnny now oh we got this new guy
Johnny:I don't want...
Johnny:Let's try this Egan.
Benny:Then he has a plus one.
Johnny:No.
Gamemaster:You are?
Benny:That's all.
Argyle:well you know we're getting close to level 15 and once we get to level 15
Johnny:Egan is good in combat
Johnny:and
Johnny:fighting stuff.
Johnny:I just wanted to hit stuff hard
Johnny:for a few sessions.
Gamemaster:You are?
Argyle:I'm going to change back into a Thaumaturge
Argyle:because that's just what we do.
Gamemaster:You are technically slightly over halfway to 15.
Argyle:Yeah, we're getting close to 15.
Argyle:And as you know, as Jorge does in Pathfinder,
Gamemaster:I'm banning thaumaturges
Argyle:when he gets to level 15, he swaps to a Thaumaturge.
Gamemaster:thaumaturges don't exist in this
Gamemaster:in Færrin
Gamemaster:Lev came over
Gamemaster:and he killed all of the burgeoning
Gamemaster:thaumaturges so that nobody
Gamemaster:could like contest his crown
Anzu:next week I am out Monday and Tuesday
Argyle:Again? So he was here originally?
Gamemaster:and then he left again so there just aren't
Gamemaster:any
Gamemaster:yeah of course
Argyle:We already know he was here.
Gamemaster:Lev is the reason that it's all like this
Gamemaster:Lev did it.
Johnny:I knew it.
Gamemaster:Lev is the Ashen Pact.
Argyle:Oh, we're fucked.
Gamemaster:You would.
Argyle:Thursdays Yeah Thursday I can do Wednesdays Thursday
Johnny:Next week, I can do...
Gamemaster:Thursday?
Johnny:Yeah, I think I can do any day next week.
Gamemaster:Thursday or Wednesday?
Gamemaster:Does either of those work better for anybody else Jorge Thursday Thursday Thursday everybody Thursday
Benny:Thursdays Thursday probably better
Anzu:or at all
Anzu:Hey, it works for me
Gamemaster:Okay.
Argyle:how dare you have
Anzu:Thanks, folks
Anzu:Sorry to be a pain
Gamemaster:Yeah, you're the worst.
Anzu:Yeah
Gamemaster:Gross.
Anzu:I'm sorry
Argyle:other things to do than play Pathfinder
Benny:Yeah, what the fuck, dude?
Anzu:I'm sorry
Gamemaster:Thursday next week we'll pick up in Egan's Mindscape
Anzu:Go
Johnny:У-у-у.
Argyle:Do you think if we beat up Egan, we could take the necklace?
Gamemaster:we'll beat up a necklace
Gamemaster:it'll be a good time
Anzu:Also, I don't like that my head is hot.
Gamemaster:yeah
Gamemaster:do you want the necklace?
Argyle:Guys, it's loot.
Gamemaster:like
Gamemaster:it is loot
Anzu:That is not good.
Argyle:No, that is definitely one of the Ashen Pact, if not all of them.
Gamemaster:it is loot
Gamemaster:Anzu's just got like a little bit of a hothead.
Johnny:Спасибо.
Argyle:let's um
Benny:No.
Gamemaster:He's always had a short temper.
Anzu:Do you think that the heat from my head is going to melt the chip on my shoulder?
Gamemaster:It's not crazy.
Argyle:we should as a side note
Gamemaster:Ooh.
Benny:The chip is everlasting.
Gamemaster:That's a good question though.
Gamemaster:No Zeus.
Gamemaster:Worth figuring out.
Argyle:use like summons or something to lure a bunch of
Gamemaster:That would mean that you guys are the ones who are breaking the alliance first.
Argyle:void things to
Argyle:Grayson. I think that'd be real fun.
Johnny:Я думал, что он будет...
Anzu:you I really
Argyle:No, we're not.
Gamemaster:I don't know how you feel about that.
Anzu:I feel like he's
Gamemaster:I was waiting for the first time
Argyle:The void things were.
Anzu:he's not afraid of them
Johnny:Я думал, что он будет такой...
Anzu:I think that he
Anzu:is not concerned about them
Anzu:I don't think he was bluffing
Johnny:Я думал, что он будет как дед.
Johnny:Вместо этого он будет как дурацкий парень, который имеет много магии.
Argyle:...
Anzu:Hey, that means he's redeemable, right guys?
Gamemaster:that you guys would talk to Grayson
Gamemaster:like in any capacity you Like what
Argyle:No He gotta die why do you think Grayson not scared of them
Johnny:I mean he got other sins
Benny:you What
Anzu:What?
Anzu:Oh.
Anzu:What?
Argyle:for a good reason
Anzu:Why are we guilty for the sins of our fathers?
Johnny:He's guilty of his own sins.
Anzu:That's true. He does have his own sins.
Gamemaster:Name one.
Gamemaster:okay name two
Johnny:When we were all trying to fight off the monsters killing us
Anzu:Oh, and his plan to take out the Iridescent Church?
Johnny:and he went, go kill them.
Johnny:We're on a strider and we just need to survive.
Argyle:He was sent to sabotage this whole thing.
Gamemaster:okay name four or five
Johnny:And he's like, no, fuck you.
Johnny:We're going to kill you guys too.
Gamemaster:well that's on that's yeah that's you're just making stuff up now that's that's slandering
Anzu:We don't know that.
Anzu:We can't.
Argyle:No, we know it from the logs.
Anzu:Yeah.
Argyle:It says they're snakes.
Gamemaster:was it Grayson that they said who knows
Argyle:They're sending their snakes.
Johnny:Yeah, they were already working with someone else.
Argyle:remember they said that
Gamemaster:which is always fun because he just gave that information out
Gamemaster:but they said no
Gamemaster:this family would never
Gamemaster:what are you talking about
Gamemaster:why don't you say that
Gamemaster:they're good upstanding folk
Johnny:No one who runs a healthcare company is bad.
Argyle:Good night.
Benny:Of course.
Gamemaster:they're good people
Benny:Of course.
Gamemaster:their family runs a
Gamemaster:healthcare company
Gamemaster:they're saving lives
Gamemaster:yeah
Gamemaster:they're the good guys
Gamemaster:I don't know what you're talking about
Gamemaster:anyway
Gamemaster:yeah
Gamemaster:see y'all on Thursday
Benny:Thursday
