Argyle:Er.
Argyle:How's it going?
Benny:Howdy.
Argyle:Now, wait.
Benny:Um?
Benny:Good let me.
Benny:Are you using the right mic?
Argyle:Input should be here.
Argyle:How about now?
Benny:Oh yeah, so I figured it.
Benny:I don't think it's better.
Benny:No, it's better.
Benny:Yeah, after you guys got off the other day,
Benny:I figured out how to play that game mode and like what level is my character what level is my account uh 50 59
Argyle:What level are you Yeah I am
Argyle:60 on Squirrel Girl
Argyle:and Punisher.
Benny:but not thor
Argyle:I was waiting to do Thor.
Argyle:I was going to do it after Punisher.
Argyle:I was
Argyle:figuring that
Argyle:if we
Argyle:started playing. So unfortunately, this ends on the 30th.
Benny:18.
Argyle:But I was figuring that if we
Argyle:played, we would...
Argyle:Have you been...
Argyle:What was the highest nightmare you got to?
Benny:18.
Argyle:Okay, so I got
Argyle:to, I think, like...
Benny:Wait, hold on, hold on.
Benny:My shit's buzzing right now.
Argyle:Are you doing them one at a time?
Benny:It would be better.
Benny:It's not better.
Argyle:Nah.
Argyle:Can you hear me?
Benny:Okay, try now.
Argyle:Hello?
Benny:Okay, okay, it's better.
Argyle:Yeah.
Argyle:Are you going up the nightmares one at a time?
Benny:I was in the beginning, and then I just started picking the highest.
Benny:but unfortunately
Argyle:No, you go by five.
Benny:it has to
Argyle:Go by five every time.
Benny:well I wasn't sure if I was fully leveled
Benny:but at 59 you pretty much have everything
Benny:um
Benny:yeah
Argyle:59, I think you should be at nightmare 50-ish.
Benny:the only issue is I would queue for the
Benny:I started queuing for the highest that I had
Benny:and then it would match me at like nightmare 7
Benny:um
Argyle:It's better to queue on fives, because it looks like most people just jump by fives.
Argyle:um
Argyle:so yeah anyway though um
Argyle:I think I got to like 100 at the higher levels the thing is Squirrel Girl and Thor are really good at the ad clear But if you have a team
Argyle:with like three ad clears
Argyle:and then one Punisher with the rifle thing,
Argyle:you delete the boss.
Argyle:Because the problem is they struggle with the boss,
Argyle:but then you can just delete
Argyle:them with headshots. It's pretty crazy.
Argyle:Like I've played
Argyle:so I figured you guys would pick up those, but it was funny
Argyle:because I was playing one where
Argyle:going into it
Argyle:me, Thor, and a different Thor
Argyle:had each
Argyle:I think a trillion damage
Argyle:and then
Argyle:the Punisher had like
Argyle:I don't know, like 20 billion
Argyle:and then the boss fight
Argyle:almost immediately
Argyle:over and the Punisher leaves with like
Argyle:800 billion
Argyle:damage
Argyle:and it's like they just ate
Argyle:the two
Argyle:Dracula's.
Argyle:It was just ridiculous.
Benny:That's pretty much...
Benny:I mean, I started seeing Thors in the higher level ones
Benny:that would one-hit Dracula,
Benny:and I was like, yeah, yeah, I guess.
Benny:That's crazy.
Argyle:Yeah.
Benny:But then when it got higher
Benny:and it actually got, like, mildly competitive,
Benny:I would be, like, 75% top damagers,
Johnny:well
Benny:and then in a boss fight,
Benny:I would catch up and either be slightly above
Benny:or right around...
Argyle:Yeah.
Argyle:I found that Thor,
Benny:Which is crazy because it was one hitting them at nightmare, whatever.
Anzu:I don't know this.
Gamemaster:Are we talking about Bloodhunt?
Argyle:after like a hundred Nightmare,
Argyle:really struggles with bosses.
Argyle:Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Argyle:But, uh...
Argyle:Yeah.
Benny:We are.
Gamemaster:Isn't Thor the meta?
Anzu:I don't know this.
Gamemaster:Isn't like 100% of the top players at Bloodhunt Thor?
Benny:It depends on what you're looking for, I guess.
Argyle:A lot of Thor...
Argyle:But it's been really useful.
Argyle:I've been seeing a lot of people do three Thors
Argyle:and one Punisher with Rifle for the boss because then he can like delete bosses I also have a Squirtle at 60 with legendary
Benny:you 74 days 73
Anzu:Thank you What is this
Gamemaster:I turned into a full squirrel girl man I like
Gamemaster:Well, it is super easy to get to level 60 now,
Argyle:But yeah.
Gamemaster:because they pushed out the most recent update and extended the deadline,
Gamemaster:and now you play, like, two rounds, and your character's, like...
Argyle:Oh, what's the new deadline?
Gamemaster:Yeah, it's like 74 days away.
Gamemaster:They really extended it.
Argyle:Oh, no.
Argyle:I was so set, I was playing it, and then when the weekend got, I was like, I'm going to get two other characters to level 60.
Gamemaster:But before you jump into the story about how your computer like setting itself on fire,
Argyle:But then my GPU got fried.
Argyle:Well, the core got fried, so I was like, I can't play this.
Argyle:Oh yeah, my GPU core got cooked.
Gamemaster:I don't know if it's for anybody but me
Gamemaster:but Jorge is exceptionally
Gamemaster:delayed from the words that he's saying
Argyle:Oh, one second.
Benny:I'm just imagining him say it, so for me it's fine.
Johnny:Yeah, same.
Anzu:Yeah, I wasn't looking.
Gamemaster:and the thing I'm seeing on the screen
Gamemaster:okay
Gamemaster:I mean he could just be
Argyle:All right.
Johnny:Holy shit.
Gamemaster:practicing his ventriloquism
Johnny:That'd be very impressive.
Benny:That would be a funny time to do it, too.
Johnny:This is...
Gamemaster:yeah
Johnny:This is crazy.
Anzu:Can you do that as a dyslexic?
Gamemaster:No, it's illegal.
Benny:Ventriloquism?
Argyle:Does this work any better?
Benny:What the fuck does that even mean, bro?
Anzu:Oh, yes.
Gamemaster:Sorry, try saying something, Jorge.
Benny:You know, I know it's...
Benny:Yeah.
Gamemaster:Yeah.
Argyle:I disabled my VPN.
Argyle:I forgot I had it on.
Argyle:Yeah.
Gamemaster:That'll do it.
Benny:Oh, I have one on. Am I lagged?
Gamemaster:No, you're fine.
Anzu:No, you must have a better one.
Argyle:Worse one.
Gamemaster:Those are the two options.
Argyle:That's not actually doing anything.
Benny:True.
Anzu:Oh, that's a good point.
Benny:Nord
Argyle:What's your VPN?
Argyle:you just have a different
Argyle:it's a different thing you know maybe
Argyle:maybe you're just like
Benny:Are you connected to a New York server?
Johnny:That sentence was also
Gamemaster:yeah they don't have internet in buffalo that's a real problem
Argyle:yeah I am
Benny:Or are you like
Benny:going through fucking Azerbaijan or something?
Argyle:oh wait I think it was on Buffalo
Argyle:yeah yeah
Benny:It was on Buffalo.
Benny:Yeah, that explains it.
Argyle:Buffalo got New Jersey's
Gamemaster:oh the buffalo bills got new jerseys
Benny:Barely have computers.
Gamemaster:yeah I was
Benny:Yeah.
Johnny:The city of Buffalo
Benny:Buffalo did not annex New Jersey.
Argyle:that would have been sick though
Gamemaster:confused by that I was like
Argyle:They got multiple New Jerseys.
Benny:I can't get away.
Anzu:from when oh we need to psych remaster yeah oh that's tough
Johnny:Annex the state of New Jersey
Gamemaster:Mike tried to leave and they keep pulling him back in
Gamemaster:yeah we'll we'll see we'll see how it works i i it's been promising so far in that in the half
Argyle:Tanner, did you see my post in Chatter?
Argyle:all the comments just shitting on psychic
Anzu:Well, Josh...
Benny:I can't believe the Reddit security landing page,
Anzu:Josh's second remaster.
Argyle:yeah yeah
Gamemaster:of a combat you've done with the remaster
Gamemaster:you haven't felt super
Gamemaster:out of band but you got to do
Gamemaster:something in the first round of combat which I feel
Argyle:Yeah.
Anzu:Woo!
Gamemaster:like is good
Gamemaster:um
Argyle:
Benny:like when they block you because they think you're being suspicious
Benny:is the Reddit logo
Benny:wearing a fedora that's like
Benny:excuse me sir
Benny:you cannot be browsing here
Benny:like the fuck
Benny:it also proves my VPN is doing
Gamemaster:yeah
Gamemaster:That fun You know something interesting that I hadn thought about until like the whole Archives of Nethis thing happened and so I started looking at the other tooling to see what they were doing
Benny:something Reddit won't let me view it
Argyle:Yeah.
Argyle:Yeah.
Argyle:Oh, and the new classes should be in Path Builder by August 1st.
Gamemaster:So, Pathbuilder, made by RegRazors or whatever.
Gamemaster:Oh gosh, I'm sorry.
Gamemaster:My monitor has just started crapping out.
Gamemaster:Hold the first half of the sentence I just said in my head and go talk about something in your head and go talk about something else.
Gamemaster:I'll be back in a moment.
Argyle:Take your GPU cable.
Benny:I already forgot what he said.
Johnny:We have to talk only in our heads?
Anzu:He said, path builder that's built by a company name.
Argyle:So he wanted to check out the other providers.
Benny:Gnomes.
Benny:Gnomes. Elves.
Johnny:Wait are we allowed to talk out loud or only in our heads?
Anzu:No, no, we had to keep his sentence in our heads.
Benny:Yeah, he said the path
Anzu:We can talk out loud.
Benny:that we've built
Benny:that is made by
Benny:elves.
Benny:so just remember that sentence and don't
Gamemaster:The dude who makes Pathbuilder semi-recently came out with a version of Pathbuilder but for Starfinder.
Argyle:Okay.
Johnny:Mike said sounded like it was made by the same Gemini instance that makes the
Benny:screw it up and when he gets back we'll talk
Benny:to him
Gamemaster:And I'm pretty confident...
Gamemaster:I'm just going past whatever the hell Mike said.
Benny:I know you can hear us 100% of the time
Gamemaster:Yeah.
Johnny:yin photos every week.
Gamemaster:I could see it.
Gamemaster:so you know
Gamemaster:I know you guys all already have characters
Gamemaster:and the like I would just throw out there
Gamemaster:that everything in Starfinder is
Gamemaster:100% compatible with Pathfinder
Gamemaster:and we have the support
Gamemaster:to make characters using that kind of info
Gamemaster:I like
Gamemaster:not telling you to do it
Gamemaster:I'm just saying as you consider
Gamemaster:the option space available to you
Gamemaster:remember that there is a larger option space
Gamemaster:available to you than you may have already expected, given that I've already been using
Gamemaster:firearms from Starfinder Like you know so Yes Jorge
Argyle:If Jorge I know it very uncharacteristic of me
Argyle:If I, for some reason, have another character...
Argyle:Right.
Gamemaster:Sure.
Argyle:That is Starfinder-like.
Gamemaster:Sure.
Gamemaster:um they cannot enter via spaceship because for very important plot reasons that you are
Argyle:Would they be...
Argyle:Would they enter...
Argyle:Would I need to make them already on the ship?
Argyle:Or can they enter via spaceship?
Argyle:...
Argyle:I'll admit it.
Gamemaster:already aware of spaceships cannot land on Færrin um if you had a character that you wanted to join
Argyle:I'll admit it.
Gamemaster:up with the group, there will be instances
Gamemaster:that the group will be
Gamemaster:going to, like, urban areas
Gamemaster:on the horizon.
Gamemaster:So if you can come up with, and I can think
Gamemaster:of some reasons why somebody might be
Gamemaster:there, that's fine. The only
Gamemaster:restriction is they have to be from
Argyle:So, you know how Necromancer came out?
Benny:He could already be on the strider
Anzu:I'll just use the hands back up.
Gamemaster:Færrin. You can't be like, oh,
Gamemaster:this is my guy from a different sphere, and
Gamemaster:he, like, walked the lighthouse to get here
Gamemaster:or something like that.
Anzu:oh yes
Gamemaster:Yes.
Argyle:What if
Gamemaster:No.
Argyle:is this allowed?
Argyle:Me to make a Necromancer
Argyle:that can cast at least six level spells
Argyle:and also be named
Argyle:Grayson
Argyle:and he just decides to work with us.
Anzu:let's just take over the other
Argyle:...
Benny:because I'll play Chuck.
Argyle:Grayson, someone does primary, idiot.
Johnny:Easy, easy.
Anzu:NPCs on the strider
Argyle:Someone else does the game.
Anzu:All right I Lark Crowe now
Argyle:No, no, um, the church, and we're like,
Argyle:Oh, guys, actually, I think I should give all of my goods to that other faction.
Gamemaster:It's a...
Argyle:They're pretty nice guys.
Gamemaster:What?
Gamemaster:You don't even know if he has stats.
Gamemaster:Maybe he sucks.
Gamemaster:Maybe he's level zero.
Benny:I'll play Chuck.
Johnny:There is an option on Star Builder where you can just combine the Pathfinder and the Star Builder stuff
Gamemaster:Okay No No to all of these things
Johnny:So you can do...
Gamemaster:Yeah, which is why I was thinking of it, so that you don't have to go between the two.
Gamemaster:You can just be like, I would like this to be the whole Paizo second edition experience, and it mashes all of them together.
Gamemaster:the original like thought process
Gamemaster:there was I was looking for prior art
Gamemaster:for the psychic
Gamemaster:remaster remaster
Gamemaster:and
Gamemaster:there was like a comment in some
Gamemaster:reddit thread about how the solarian
Gamemaster:feels kind of like
Gamemaster:a psychic but maybe better
Gamemaster:and I don't actually agree with that
Gamemaster:but it did make me remember that
Gamemaster:you can use like starfinder
Gamemaster:now that starfinder is out
Gamemaster:you could use classes like that
Gamemaster:or archetypes from those classes in your character and any of that kind of stuff.
Gamemaster:You know, once again, not telling you to do it,
Gamemaster:just like making it clear what your options are.
Gamemaster:That and talking about options, it's not ready for release yet.
Gamemaster:So you can't use them.
Gamemaster:But thanks to a lot of preliminary work done by Jorge,
Gamemaster:Um, I have most of, um, I, the, the original 5e floating cup spells converted in a way
Gamemaster:that I feel pretty comfortable with to Pathfinder.
Gamemaster:Um, I'm still doing like, like a full pass through review.
Gamemaster:I've built a bunch of tooling around getting the like relative power level of spells, uh,
Gamemaster:which works for most things.
Gamemaster:It just doesn't work for all of the like weird this doesn't do damage, but it makes this guy flat spells
Gamemaster:So like, you know, I'm going through I'm working on them
Gamemaster:I have the only things that I've actually fully had to nix is there is no hard light bridge
Argyle:Bye.
Gamemaster:Because there's no point for having hard light bridge. There's already a spell that does what it does
Argyle:What's the spell?
Johnny:Yeah.
Gamemaster:in a balanced way in Pathfinder.
Gamemaster:So, I don't remember what it's called.
Gamemaster:It was in Impossible Magic.
Argyle:Oh, is it like a five-foot bridge or something?
Gamemaster:Like, there was a... I can...
Argyle:Okay.
Gamemaster:It's not five feet, but it's not the, like, 120
Argyle:30 feet?
Gamemaster:that the original Hardlight Bridge could be.
Gamemaster:Sonata span? No.
Gamemaster:Yes, sonata span.
Gamemaster:A 30-foot line.
Argyle:Boo!
Gamemaster:A 30-foot line that can only go up or down 45 degrees.
Argyle:Oh, shit.
Argyle:we really should have
Anzu:Yeah, I agree with Josh.
Gamemaster:I know, I'm so sorry.
Gamemaster:But that's an actual spell.
Argyle:we should have abused it more
Gamemaster:Which means that if it's broken, it's Paizo's fault.
Argyle:like we should have been like
Gamemaster:You abused it plenty.
Argyle:making a bunch of bridges
Argyle:like
Argyle:you see
Gamemaster:You abused it plenty.
Anzu:I think it was abused.
Gamemaster:You abused it plenty and in such a way that it never felt so egregious in any individual instance that I felt the need to ban it.
Gamemaster:If you started doing anything worse, I would have just been like, okay, clearly this spell isn't working.
Argyle:I feel like wall spells are just weaker in Pathfinder as well.
Gamemaster:So, no.
Argyle:They were really strong in D&D.
Gamemaster:Yeah, I mean, in general, there are a lot of spells that feel...
Gamemaster:It's funny, D&D spells feel stronger to me,
Gamemaster:despite the fact that the vast majority of them are save or suck.
Gamemaster:I think because of the degrees of success with Pathfinder,
Gamemaster:you get more generally out of a spell than you would with 5e,
Gamemaster:but when it lands, it doesn't feel like it lands as strongly.
Argyle:Yeah.
Gamemaster:which I don't actually believe is the case.
Gamemaster:Going through converting the damage dice from the 5e to Pathfinder
Gamemaster:in order to keep them generally in band with what the original target was,
Gamemaster:I had to up the damage dice for a lot of spells, not bring them down.
Gamemaster:But it just, for whatever reason, it feels that way with Pathfinder compared to 5e.
Argyle:Oh, is it because of the basic saves?
Gamemaster:Maybe.
Gamemaster:Although like at some point 5e gets those as well They don call them basic saves but they have the save or take half damage from as early as second level So
Argyle:you I forgot about that
Gamemaster:Either way, I'm most of the way through that.
Gamemaster:I expect, like, depending on how much time I have to read through it, I'll be done with it probably by the end of next weekend.
Gamemaster:Or the upcoming weekend.
Gamemaster:And I'll send it out for all of you guys.
Gamemaster:It's also on that thing that I linked already.
Gamemaster:don't read the text of the spells that's there yet because they're not done. I have no guarantee
Gamemaster:that they're balanced. I'm pretty sure they aren't. But it will be there for lookup,
Gamemaster:and eventually I will figure out getting it into Pathbuilder and Foundry. It's easy to get
Gamemaster:into Foundry. It's not so easy to get into Pathbuilder, so I might just not do that.
Gamemaster:But we'll see. Either way, more spells, and there's a lore reason for it. There's an in-universe reason
Gamemaster:that these spells are around, but we'll just have to retcon that they've always been around.
Gamemaster:It's fine. We can do that.
Johnny:Guys, dorky vocalist.
Anzu:Okay, now I understand.
Johnny:Solved.
Johnny:That's how the souls are here.
Gamemaster:Dorcan is the vocalist. That's canon. That is a funny thing that I was thinking of is one of the
Anzu:feeling compelled to cast
Gamemaster:spells, the, like, level nine Mercuromancy spell is Shard of Ruin, and I'm probably going to update
Gamemaster:the name to, like, Shard of Dorcan, which won't make any sense in context, because then your
Gamemaster:characters will be like, who is Dorcan?
Gamemaster:But that's fine.
Johnny:Who is this guy?
Argyle:Also.
Argyle:Yeah.
Anzu:Dorcan
Anzu:I don't know why
Anzu:it's just kind of coming to me
Gamemaster:I did also, there was
Gamemaster:one 10th level spell in
Gamemaster:5e, and
Gamemaster:obviously that's not as exotic in Pathfinder,
Gamemaster:but I'm not going to bump it up to 11th
Gamemaster:level because that's silly. But
Gamemaster:the requirements of the ritual are
Gamemaster:a shard of preservation and a shard of
Gamemaster:ruin, which means that effectively
Gamemaster:it can't be cast in Færrin
Gamemaster:ever.
Gamemaster:Which is funny But it still be there What do you mean am I sure about that I know for yes I know for a fact that they are not in Varan
Argyle:Are you sure about that Maybe those are in Færrin Yeah
Johnny:You make the game and you control the whole universe you think you know who everyone is
Argyle:Yeah.
Gamemaster:There's like a whole pretty big plot point
Gamemaster:from the first campaign about how they can't
Gamemaster:go to other locations.
Gamemaster:Like, that was pretty integral
Gamemaster:to campaign one.
Gamemaster:And I guarantee
Gamemaster:Farad is not
Gamemaster:Usha's. It's not in the same location.
Anzu:Are you giving the occult spell list more AoE damage?
Gamemaster:But, uh,
Gamemaster:yeah. I was just, I'm just
Gamemaster:putting that out there, new things that are happening
Gamemaster:in the character building space.
Anzu:...
Anzu:It's not supposed to.
Gamemaster:The Occult Spellist has
Gamemaster:some damage.
Gamemaster:Um,
Gamemaster:not as much as the Arcane
Gamemaster:one does, because
Gamemaster:that's kind of how it's set up.
Anzu:Yeah.
Gamemaster:yeah but there's there's some damage spells there certainly
Argyle:And there's some in cosmetology?
Anzu:I cast blush.
Gamemaster:cosmeturgy cosmetology is the is when you use makeup um yeah cosmeturgy i think really the best
Argyle:Cosmetology?
Argyle:Is makeup.
Argyle:Yeah.
Argyle:So...
Anzu:
Gamemaster:benefit out of this is uh divine the divine spell list does get fleshed out with a lot more things
Gamemaster:just by virtue of how the stuff mapped over because all of the cosmeturgy spells in 5e were
Gamemaster:based around clerics and paladins using them.
Gamemaster:I moved some things around.
Argyle:I just would love some damage spells,
Benny:Hold on.
Johnny:Thanks.
Gamemaster:Overall, the arcane spell list is still getting the biggest benefit,
Gamemaster:but I think arcane and occult are both getting like 75 to 90 new spells,
Gamemaster:and then divine and primal are getting closer to 50 to 60.
Argyle:which I'm excited about.
Gamemaster:You'll definitely get some damage spells.
Argyle:Yeah.
Gamemaster:That'll happen.
Argyle:Because that's the main...
Gamemaster:But, you know.
Argyle:Divine Yeah I can make one for it I also just upgrade us to Opus 5 and I may be switching all of my stuff over to Codex
Benny:Thank you Ooh six more versions
Anzu:to school to analyze all this
Gamemaster:Ooh Ooh
Argyle:so instead it will be 5-6
Argyle:but keep you posted
Argyle:I'm on a hope for soul
Gamemaster:Which 5-6, though?
Argyle:but we'll see how much churn that is
Gamemaster:Oh, sure.
Gamemaster:I mean, I imagine that 5-6 soul is not much different from, like, 5-6 terra
Gamemaster:once you've moved everything over to Codex.
Argyle:Yeah. And Codex in general, I get better to...
Johnny:Yeah.
Anzu:Yes.
Gamemaster:It just costs more money.
Argyle:Well, if you do the monthly subscription,
Argyle:I'm paying the same amount, and it's just...
Argyle:I found that Codex gives me a bigger bang for my buck than OpenAI, so...
Argyle:Okay.
Gamemaster:Either way, do we want to play some Pathfinder?
Gamemaster:If we do, I want to try something out.
Argyle:Tanner, did you curse us?
Benny:Oh no.
Johnny:Is there a coot?
Anzu:Uh-oh.
Gamemaster:One second.
Gamemaster:One second.
Anzu:Uh-oh.
Johnny:Are we getting a coot?
Johnny:Are we getting a coot?
Anzu:Uh-oh.
Gamemaster:If you could...
Anzu:No!
Gamemaster:If you could all...
Johnny:Yes.
Gamemaster:if you could
Johnny:Yes.
Johnny:This is the best.
Benny:whose name do we enter
Argyle:Ben here.
Gamemaster:either go to the website and enter the code
Gamemaster:or scan the QR code
Argyle:Be fine, I'll do the QR code.
Anzu:No, I already typed in Tanner.
Gamemaster:and enter your name
Gamemaster:that would be awesome
Gamemaster:it's the same
Benny:whose name do we enter
Benny:I typed in
Gamemaster:whatever name you like
Gamemaster:I have a feeling you're going to type in Tanner
Gamemaster:so
Gamemaster:I am
Benny:I typed in Benny
Anzu:Don't do that.
Gamemaster:full disclosure
Benny:Okay.
Gamemaster:I have not tested this
Gamemaster:I got the idea on the subway over
Gamemaster:when Tanner sent the message in
Gamemaster:and so I just told an agent
Gamemaster:to write one up for me
Gamemaster:and then I just wrote the questions
Gamemaster:so if it crashes and burns
Gamemaster:blame Anthropic
Benny:Wait.
Johnny:This is...
Anzu:Oh, God.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:Our four players, Dorcan, Tanner, Mike, and Tan,
Gamemaster:are ready to go, yeah?
Anzu:Yeah.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:We're going to start with question one.
Gamemaster:The Machine God finally named the Sleeping Clan.
Gamemaster:That doesn't make any sense.
Benny:Wait.
Gamemaster:Thank you, AI.
Gamemaster:What's an Ugathal?
Gamemaster:That's the real question.
Gamemaster:What's an Ugathal?
Argyle:yeah
Benny:When did Tanner suggest this?
Anzu:I sent an Instagram post earlier today.
Gamemaster:Earlier.
Argyle:tan is really slow at reading that's crazy
Benny:No.
Anzu:Okay.
Benny:Oh, nice.
Gamemaster:Well, Mike, I don't know if...
Gamemaster:Is that the real Mike?
Gamemaster:Mike, are you Mike?
Benny:It is. Yeah, that's me.
Gamemaster:Absolutely, Mike is in first then.
Benny:The phone.
Anzu:Hmm.
Gamemaster:Oh, okay, so we know who Tan is.
Anzu:Hmm.
Benny:Yeah.
Gamemaster:Great.
Anzu:Hmm.
Gamemaster:Question two.
Gamemaster:The Sleeping Clan is in a former hospital ruled by a dying, not quite sane heart.
Argyle:Damn it, Tan.
Johnny:Oh no.
Anzu:I think I know this one, but I'm not sure.
Gamemaster:What's that heart's name?
Gamemaster:Running out of time.
Gamemaster:That is...
Gamemaster:Okay, there we go.
Gamemaster:Oh, that is unfortunate.
Johnny:
Gamemaster:That is unfortunate.
Gamemaster:We're starting to see a change in a striation in the leaderboard.
Gamemaster:Question three.
Gamemaster:What do Yao and the rest of the Protectorate believe the Voidsong actually is?
Gamemaster:oh everybody got that one right good for tanner for getting that first
Argyle:I'm just going for speed and I fucked it up.
Benny:No, he answers so quick.
Johnny:Oh.
Anzu:My boy, Yao.
Gamemaster:yeah i showed anzu a piece of aurelia's armor on what terms is he letting you look at that piece of
Gamemaster:armor
Gamemaster:Ooh, unfortunate.
Gamemaster:What Amber Call up to According to the Protectorate at least
Johnny:you I had the instinct to just say buying up the tire yard because
Anzu:you The masculine urge to buy up the tire yard
Gamemaster:Absolutely.
Gamemaster:Who cursed Lance?
Argyle:Hehehehe
Anzu:yes
Gamemaster:That was fast. Everybody knew that one.
Gamemaster:Johnny sent a sandwich down to Maren and no note came back up.
Gamemaster:How'd Johnny respond?
Gamemaster:There we go. Absolutely.
Gamemaster:There's some things you guys remember.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:Odds is researching something.
Gamemaster:What's he researching?
Gamemaster:Great. Absolutely. We're on top of it.
Gamemaster:everybody's aligned at this point.
Argyle:That was a good question because I was like, why did we do that?
Benny:Oh fuck, I got this one wrong.
Gamemaster:Why'd you guys decide to go for the Sleeping Clan
Gamemaster:instead of the Waking Clan?
Gamemaster:Of Herald's, you know,
Gamemaster:little bug guys.
Gamemaster:Absolutely.
Gamemaster:Absolutely.
Gamemaster:Deep in the Strider,
Gamemaster:coming up against the Sleeping Clan's lair,
Gamemaster:what was off about it
Gamemaster:compared to the rest of the Strider?
Benny:God damn it.
Gamemaster:Oh, I'm sorry.
Argyle:Yeah.
Benny:Try to answer quickly.
Johnny:This was great.
Anzu:Let's go.
Gamemaster:And that is the end of our game today.
Gamemaster:Our winner is Tanner.
Gamemaster:Absolutely, that was wonderful.
Anzu:So did you not write any of those questions, Josh?
Argyle:Sick.
Anzu:No.
Gamemaster:I gave you the transcript and I told it the beats I wanted to cover, but I was doing it
Gamemaster:on the subway ride home.
Gamemaster:so I never actually got to see
Argyle:Sick.
Argyle:how were you like doing it on a laptop or did you set up some agent on your phone
Gamemaster:the questions themselves No I SSH from my phone There There Yeah
Benny:Also I also i i didn realize how easy it is to access clod code on your phone if you log in with your clod
Anzu:That crazy I didn even know you could do that
Benny:account so i like booted up a thing and i was like well i want to access this for my phone i guess i
Benny:could just paste stuff to clod code running on my computer so then i asked i boot i opened clod
Benny:code for the first time on my computer and then I was like
Benny:how do I continue this on my phone?
Gamemaster:I just SSH on from my phone.
Benny:It burns 25,000 tokens
Benny:and then gives me like two steps.
Benny:So then I'm like slash remote control
Benny:and it goes do you want to disconnect?
Benny:It's like what do you mean disconnect?
Benny:And then I open my phone, click
Benny:code in the top and it's like
Benny:oh yeah you're already connected to all of them.
Benny:You have two running. And I was like I didn't even know I had two. I thought I had one running.
Gamemaster:it's clunky but like i'm not actually doing any real work on it it's just when i have little bits
Benny:Nice.
Argyle:Yeah.
Gamemaster:of internet on the subway i signed on in the beginning and i'm like oh this thing from tanner
Gamemaster:seems fun let's just tell it to make one and then on the way back i said hey is it done and it said
Gamemaster:yes and i said okay here's where the transcript is here's some beats write some questions and that
Gamemaster:was it that was the whole thing i i don't know if we'll repeat this but it was a fun disposable
Gamemaster:experiment. That said,
Argyle:Yeah.
Gamemaster:it occurred to me, as entertaining as
Gamemaster:this was, I don't know if it was actually a very good
Benny:Check the notes.
Gamemaster:recap of what we did.
Johnny:All right.
Anzu:Does that mean I don't get my point?
Gamemaster:So,
Gamemaster:Tanner gets his point,
Gamemaster:but we can also have
Gamemaster:if somebody wants to do a recap of the
Gamemaster:previous session in normal
Gamemaster:words,
Gamemaster:I'd appreciate it.
Gamemaster:Okay, you got this.
Benny:Oh.
Johnny:This is probably going to be...
Gamemaster:Noah's got this.
Johnny:All these things are very out of order.
Johnny:We're back at the surface.
Johnny:We're like, what are we doing?
Johnny:We all had separate things we wanted to do.
Benny:Okay Okay Okay
Argyle:Gale Gale
Johnny:Whoa Argyle and Benny went over to the What is the name of your organization Jorge The Scale Very long day I think it was the Scale
Johnny:There was some dude with a curse, and he was like, where'd you get this curse?
Johnny:And he was like, a coven of hags, and then he used his feet to break the curse.
Johnny:But it did not work.
Johnny:Meanwhile, Johnny sent down a sandwich, then gave a pep talk to all of our folks,
Johnny:which worked out super great.
Johnny:and everyone was inspired.
Johnny:Meanwhile, Anzu went over to the Protectorate
Johnny:and had a fun chat where they were like,
Johnny:it's Aurelia!
Johnny:Also, here's a piece of Aurelia's armor.
Johnny:Don't lose it.
Johnny:Do you want to take it?
Johnny:And Anzu was like,
Johnny:I don't want to take this.
Johnny:This is scary.
Johnny:Then the next day,
Johnny:Argyle went back,
Johnny:tried to break the curse again
Johnny:and got very close.
Johnny:I don't think it happened, though.
Johnny:And then we spent a few days,
Johnny:or started spending a few days
Johnny:meanwhile Argyle was just painting the walls and floor and ceiling with grease
Gamemaster:Yeah, that all seems accurate.
Johnny:not sure if anything else happened there
Johnny:and then we were like alright let's go jump on
Johnny:the sleeping guys
Johnny:then we headed down there
Johnny:we were like ooh it's a hospital that's creepy
Johnny:we were like oh the first room what could be in here nothing dangerous
Johnny:and then there was dangerous stuff in there there was a lot of bodies and pods
Argyle:I'm going to hear it today.
Benny:If we live.
Anzu:We're not surviving this encounter.
Gamemaster:Um, two points of note, specifically with Lance's curse.
Gamemaster:Um, Argyle asked Lance, uh, how'd you get this curse?
Gamemaster:Lance said, it's a long story.
Gamemaster:Argyle said, it's fine, I have time, tell me.
Gamemaster:Lance got one sentence in before Argyle, or I assume Jorge, got bored and said, never
Gamemaster:mind, I don't care.
Gamemaster:Um, no you're not.
Argyle:I'm going to hear it today.
Argyle:Yes, I am.
Gamemaster:You've hurt Lance's feelings.
Gamemaster:That is also true.
Gamemaster:Or possible, at least.
Benny:We could have just brought Lance with us.
Gamemaster:Who knows?
Gamemaster:Uh, this...
Benny:Kill two birds with one stone.
Gamemaster:The second thing is, if I can critique just a little
Benny:to it.
Anzu:There's only one door.
Gamemaster:little bit not not not for this to feel hostile um you guys opened the door into the hospital area
Gamemaster:you didn't see any danger but benny was attacked by a hostile spell and then all four of you
Gamemaster:collectively shrugged grouped up in a cluster and walked in um just just putting that out there
Gamemaster:that that was i i understand but i think that there were ways to navigate around it that didn't
Gamemaster:involve the four of you walking in in a line into the front entrance um that said after an especially
Gamemaster:good play from johnny we will pick up today's session uh both johnny and anzu get an additional
Gamemaster:mythic point they're starting with this session um we are we are picking this up with two of the
Gamemaster:Skindrones that were attacking you were
Gamemaster:calmed. Skindrone 3
Gamemaster:effectively out for the rest
Gamemaster:of the fight because of the effects of
Gamemaster:calm. Skindrone 2,
Gamemaster:next turn he's going to get attacked by
Gamemaster:some slithering tentacles
Gamemaster:and then he will wake back up, but
Gamemaster:getting like two to three
Gamemaster:rounds with them not doing anything
Gamemaster:is very good.
Gamemaster:So if anybody doesn't have
Gamemaster:Foundry open,
Gamemaster:https://btl.iridi.cc.aridic.cc,
Gamemaster:now would be the time to do so
Gamemaster:as we are looking to restart combat.
Johnny:Wait Josh, I forgot one very important part of the recap.
Gamemaster:Yes.
Johnny:Because we are all geniuses and immediately deduced these things could not break the pods,
Gamemaster:Yes.
Gamemaster:Yes.
Johnny:which was exactly what we all thought, we decided to climb up them.
Gamemaster:That is true.
Gamemaster:You all immediately recognized,
Gamemaster:since these things are the caretakers of the stuff in the pods,
Gamemaster:in this hospital, clearly they wouldn't do anything
Gamemaster:to put them in danger and so you all climbed on top of the pods to make sure they couldn get to you Stroke of genius really So yeah so we will pick up combat We are at the start
Gamemaster:If nobody else has anything they'd like to say before the beginning of the
Gamemaster:session, we can just start with combat. Do I have a good combat theme?
Gamemaster:Is this combat?
Gamemaster:Is combat enough?
Gamemaster:Uh, we will start with Skindrone1, um, who is chasing after... he's working on it.
Gamemaster:Those of you who are hanging out up there, he doesn't have a lot of movement speed.
Gamemaster:That's one action.
Gamemaster:That's two actions.
Gamemaster:And that's his third action.
Gamemaster:He gets just close enough to get into the Dirge of Doom.
Gamemaster:Okay, it is Skindrone 2's turn.
Gamemaster:They're calm.
Gamemaster:I have to double check what the effects of the spell are.
Gamemaster:What is the...
Gamemaster:I used the tentacle spell, the black tentacle, but that's just because it was in the stat block.
Gamemaster:Is it Slither now? Is that the remastered version? It is Slither.
Gamemaster:Yeah, where the remaster, all it did was they made it so that instead of tentacles, it's snakes.
Benny:the tentacles are copyrighted
Gamemaster:Apparently, tentacles are copyrighted.
Gamemaster:which is strange
Gamemaster:because it like
Gamemaster:in D&D
Gamemaster:it's like
Gamemaster:Evrard's
Gamemaster:Black Tentacles
Gamemaster:or whatever
Gamemaster:that dude's name is
Gamemaster:they already
Gamemaster:have removed
Gamemaster:the D name from it I don know why they felt the need to change it again um But anyway he calm so he doesn get to do anything and then at the end of his
Johnny:you I think it just ends if he takes damage
Gamemaster:turn, he takes
Gamemaster:1d6.
Gamemaster:He takes 6 points of
Gamemaster:slither damage.
Gamemaster:And then...
Gamemaster:How does calm work here?
Gamemaster:Does he get to make another save, or is he just
Gamemaster:immediately free?
Gamemaster:Calm.
Gamemaster:Yes, if the target is subject to hostility from any other creature, it ceases to be affected by calm.
Gamemaster:So he is no longer calm, but that is the end of his turn.
Gamemaster:So we're just going to move on to the Ugathal.
Gamemaster:It's the Ugathal's turn.
Gamemaster:The Ugathal wants to attack Benny, because Benny is directly next to him.
Gamemaster:And so it's going to do that.
Gamemaster:I think it's going to start by attempting to grab you.
Gamemaster:Oh, it can't grab you unless it successfully strikes you with its claw, which I don't think is going to happen.
Gamemaster:So we're just going to try it.
Gamemaster:We're going to do a claw attack.
Gamemaster:That was almost a very good roll, but it wasn't.
Gamemaster:So, yeah, this guy has literally nothing he can do unless he grabs you.
Gamemaster:So we're just going to try to grab you, but that's a critical miss, and this is also going to be bad.
Anzu:I was just thinking that.
Gamemaster:Yeah, no, unfortunately I just need it to roll higher than the rolls that I rolled.
Gamemaster:It's the maid's turn.
Gamemaster:I never said it out loud, so it occurs to me now, like, the point of the names is the maker and the maid are paired, because that makes sense.
Gamemaster:But when I when I say it it kind of just sounds like this is a person walk around cleaning things
Gamemaster:Which was not the intention
Anzu:And the funny thing is, I don't think I was thinking that last week.
Anzu:So I don know what changed but
Argyle:He changed the spelling
Benny:Remove context It also doesn help This is the only thing that looks vaguely humanoid So it like
Johnny:Thank you Okay
Gamemaster:It just Yeah
Benny:there's a bunch of disgusting animals
Benny:that live in here and then the maid.
Gamemaster:Yeah.
Gamemaster:Yeah.
Gamemaster:What is the maid going to do?
Benny:...
Gamemaster:The maid...
Gamemaster:The mate isn't really combat focused, so I think what the mate is going to do is going
Johnny:I thought there weren't a lot of break things.
Anzu:Bad.
Gamemaster:to run this way, and then spend its second action to clamber up here.
Gamemaster:So that's 20 feet up.
Gamemaster:And it's going to use its third action to start slamming its fists onto the glass here.
Anzu:Bad.
Gamemaster:I clicked next up as Anzu, but I was wrong.
Anzu:She's going to wake it up, guys.
Anzu:Kill her immediately.
Gamemaster:There is still the skin skitter's turn.
Gamemaster:Who, most of you left, so it kind of has to go for...
Gamemaster:What is the skin skitter's movement speed?
Gamemaster:20.
Gamemaster:That's crazy.
Gamemaster:It uses all two of its actions to skitter up to Anzu, but it doesn't get to do anything else.
Gamemaster:So it's just there, and now it's Anzu's turn.
Anzu:I need to look because I thought one of my spells was 120 feet, but I can't find which one.
Anzu:60.
Anzu:Ah, yes.
Anzu:Crossbite, because I'm a psychic.
Anzu:So Foundry's telling me that the maid is 115 feet from me.
Anzu:Is that accurate?
Gamemaster:that is accurate.
Anzu:And I have a sight line because she's kind of raised.
Gamemaster:Yep.
Anzu:Alright, then we're going to send an amped...
Anzu:I said frostbite, right?
Anzu:Right, yes, an Amped Frostbite her way.
Gamemaster:Oh, you're stupefied.
Anzu:Let's cast that.
Anzu:What was that roll for?
Anzu:Oh, wait, okay.
Gamemaster:Why are you...
Anzu:Can you go back and let me...
Anzu:It didn't give me the pop-up to do my...
Gamemaster:Oh, yeah.
Gamemaster:This is an issue with how I'm doing it.
Gamemaster:It's when you reload, it goes away.
Gamemaster:Okay, so what's going to happen is I'm going to get rid of it.
Anzu:Uh-huh.
Gamemaster:Give yourself Unleash Psyche again.
Gamemaster:And then we will...
Gamemaster:Oh, I can't.
Gamemaster:Okay, just give yourself Unleash Psyche.
Anzu:I can just...
Gamemaster:How do I?
Gamemaster:I don't have a good way of...
Anzu:I'll just give myself the damage for this round and next round,
Gamemaster:Yeah, just...
Gamemaster:Yeah.
Gamemaster:just yeah yeah just do that and I'll come up with a better solution for just
Anzu:and then it should loop back in.
Anzu:So, all right, so I'll mark four damage as I strain myself.
Gamemaster:installing the hook without like reapplying the status effect
Anzu:It's, I mean, you can make that save.
Gamemaster:and then just oh we could just ignore the stupefied roll yeah I'll just make
Anzu:Yeah, just, yeah.
Gamemaster:the save
Gamemaster:Rolled well.
Anzu:Yeah.
Gamemaster:Uh, one second, I refreshed the page.
Anzu:Is that a critical success?
Anzu:Sure looks like it.
Anzu:It put it in the little
Gamemaster:Yeah, I just...
Anzu:result critical success.
Gamemaster:Yes, that is a critical success.
Anzu:Bruh.
Anzu:Nothing happens
Anzu:to her.
Gamemaster:Okay, I'm sorry.
Anzu:And then
Anzu:I have two more actions.
Gamemaster:Mm-hmm.
Anzu:One of them will be to send a sideburst at the Skin I send that in It is Mind Shifted to
Gamemaster:Okay Okay Will
Anzu:be a will save.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:It fails.
Anzu:It takes 9 points of damage.
Gamemaster:Absolutely, it is.
Argyle:Do you know why I'm not in the initiative?
Gamemaster:That is incorrect.
Gamemaster:It takes nine points of damage.
Gamemaster:It is injured, but it's still skittering.
Gamemaster:Still alive.
Gamemaster:What happened?
Anzu:And then I do 2 psyche actions.
Anzu:Yes.
Anzu:I will calculate threats.
Anzu:Yes, because you rolled a regular.
Anzu:Perception check and I believe you got an 18.
Argyle:But I thought it's...
Gamemaster:you undo your initiative? Oh. I thought I did too, but I can change it back, that's
Anzu:No, last session he rolled a regular
Anzu:perception checking instead of an
Anzu:initiative perception check.
Anzu:But he he got an 18 so it worked out.
Argyle:I think I got a natural one.
Argyle:Yeah, I got a natural one, so...
Anzu:I calculated threats with my final action.
Argyle:I thought I wasn't...
Argyle:I thought Josh manually fixed that.
Argyle:But, uh...
Argyle:There we go.
Gamemaster:Okay, so then that will bring us to Skindrone3, who is going to take two points of damage,
Benny:Nice.
Argyle:I just want to make sure I don't get skipped.
Anzu:why is Benny clumsy 3
Gamemaster:and then it's going to be Benny's turn.
Benny:alright does that even matter
Anzu:oh my god Terrible
Gamemaster:Yeah Yeah
Johnny:anesthesiaed anesthesiaed
Benny:No.
Benny:Not for most things.
Benny:Is it worth it for me to just sprint directly at the maid?
Anzu:You'd have to get up there.
Johnny:I kind of think so.
Benny:We got ways.
Johnny:Don't you have a...
Johnny:Don't you have a feat that lets you rocket into her?
Benny:We got ways.
Benny:Okay.
Gamemaster:Mm-hmm.
Benny:So Benny is going to do Sudden Leap,
Benny:which lets me stride
Benny:and then make a long jump with high jump.
Gamemaster:
Benny:So I'll be making a long jump with high jump
Benny:and then I'll attack.
Benny:So I don't think I can end up 10 feet up
Benny:from the jump.
Gamemaster:Sorry, you're doing high jump?
Benny:I think...
Benny:Yeah.
Gamemaster:you leap up to 8 feet vertically
Gamemaster:and 10 feet horizontally
Benny:Would I have to run up one of these containers?
Gamemaster:if the distance you fall is no more than the height
Gamemaster:of your jump
Gamemaster:I mean if you make it far enough you can
Gamemaster:what is the
Gamemaster:uh
Gamemaster:it's 50 feet
Benny:Or would you just let me appear up there?
Benny:I mean, it's 50 feet to get there.
Gamemaster:And you have to, as part of this, you have to do a full stride first.
Benny:Yeah.
Gamemaster:So, I think, like, what's your movement speed? 30? 35?
Benny:35, yeah.
Gamemaster:It's 35. So the actual jump you're making is only 25 feet.
Gamemaster:I think with your sudden leap, you can just make that.
Benny:Nice.
Gamemaster:You have to, like, you have to make the athletics check, but...
Benny:Yes.
Benny:I jump.
Gamemaster:Okay well with a natural one you won make it
Benny:Oh, my goodness.
Benny:So So but I have to go 20 feet
Johnny:Bye Thank you
Benny:Hold on.
Benny:Let me check what high jump.
Gamemaster:Um, no, you don't leap.
Benny:Wait, I just fall prone in my space at the end of the jump.
Benny:Okay.
Benny:Sorry, sorry.
Gamemaster:You run forward 35 feet and then you fall prone.
Benny:At the end of the movement.
Gamemaster:Yes, at the end of the movement, instead of making the jump, you make it there and then
Gamemaster:you fall prone.
Benny:That's fine.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Benny:I'm going...
Gamemaster:Yeah.
Benny:This was two actions, so I'm just going to stand up then.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:Okay, and then you stand up.
Benny:Yeah.
Benny:That's all I can do.
Gamemaster:All right, that brings us to the maker.
Benny:Okay.
Gamemaster:Oh, I'm sorry, you are bleeding.
Benny:Nice.
Gamemaster:Take one bleed damage and then attempt a recovery check.
Gamemaster:You are still bleeding.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:I think it's the Maker's turn. I'm trying to figure out if it's going to try to bite Benny's head off or not.
Gamemaster:I think it's gonna, first it's gonna chuck a telekinetic projectile at the guy that's floating and
Argyle:Okay.
Gamemaster:shooting weapons around,
Gamemaster:and then it's going to try and bite Benny's head off.
Gamemaster:That hits, albeit barely.
Argyle:Okay.
Gamemaster:That rolled very well on that.
Argyle:Am I in range?
Gamemaster:You're going to take 26 points of bludgeoning damage.
Gamemaster:Uh, yes?
Argyle:No, I'm 40 and I'm in the air.
Gamemaster:Oh, maybe not actually.
Gamemaster:One second.
Gamemaster:You're 40 feet!
Argyle:If it wants to, it could have tried and failed if it wanted to.
Benny:Yep.
Gamemaster:You're right, it couldn't have targeted you.
Gamemaster:Okay, never mind.
Gamemaster:One action to go attack Benny,
Gamemaster:and then another action to try and bite his head off.
Gamemaster:No, that's not how that works.
Argyle:I'm okay with that.
Gamemaster:That's not how that works.
Gamemaster:That is, we are having some trouble rolling today.
Benny:Nice.
Gamemaster:21 will miss, unfortunately.
Gamemaster:We're going to do a bite attack.
Gamemaster:I crit.
Argyle:Cool.
Argyle:so i can't get the maker off if i'm healing benny
Johnny:I can try and get the maid off.
Anzu:You got some like bone hurting juice or something?
Gamemaster:Yeah, I rolled a 20.
Argyle:the maid um do you think the maid has bones
Johnny:I don't know if it'll work.
Gamemaster:44 points of damage.
Johnny:That's pretty great actually.
Argyle:bone shaker and i can pull it off if i
Argyle:fails
Argyle:no but but of enemies we fought it's not
Benny:Of course.
Anzu:Oh my gosh.
Gamemaster:And then Benny, I need you to attempt that will save.
Argyle:rope shaker so i don't know
Benny:What?
Benny:Wait, that means I have...
Benny:Hold on. That means I have two hero points
Benny:because of the athletics check.
Benny:So I'm going to use one...
Gamemaster:That means you have three hero points, because you start with one.
Benny:No, no.
Benny:Yeah, but I'm re-rolling this one.
Gamemaster:Oh, you're rerolling that one.
Benny:How do I reroll with
Gamemaster:Then yes, you have two.
Anzu:Oh yeah, this is weird because it's kind of in the lot.
Gamemaster:Where is the button for us?
Benny:Oh no no
Benny:There's a button
Benny:Uh
Anzu:Why did you redeem it?
Benny:It's the
Benny:So it says Benny and then it says my roll
Benny:And then I could click
Benny:I could click somewhere there somewhere in the bottom right of the panel thing
Gamemaster:Okay sure um either way uh 27 uh Okay Sure Either way 27 is better
Gamemaster:because that is
Gamemaster:a success.
Benny:Nice.
Gamemaster:Which I think means nothing happens to you.
Gamemaster:Correct.
Gamemaster:And you're immune to its mind fog aura.
Gamemaster:Congrats.
Benny:Okay.
Gamemaster:Johnny, it's your turn.
Argyle:Can you knock this mate off?
Johnny:Argyle, are you healing or do you want me to heal?
Anzu:So then you can probably heal.
Gamemaster:No.
Argyle:Or hurt it?
Johnny:I can try to knock it off, but it would have to be a critical fail for default.
Argyle:I don't know if it has bones.
Argyle:Okay.
Johnny:Okay.
Argyle:I don't know if it has bones, guys.
Johnny:Okay.
Johnny:I will.
Johnny:I will.
Johnny:Let's hope it has bones.
Johnny:Yeah
Benny:Why did I even roll for the athletics check?
Gamemaster:What do you mean?
Johnny:I'm gonna
Johnny:Yeah, one action to
Johnny:sustain calm on this guy
Johnny:One action to run
Johnny:the scramble past
Johnny:out of this Uginthal's reach
Johnny:oh, the mate is just
Gamemaster:Don't you have to roll for the athletics check?
Benny:I have assurance.
Johnny:oh, the mate is just out of range
Gamemaster:Oh.
Benny:Thanks.
Gamemaster:Well, I'm sorry.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Johnny:uh, third action, I will
Johnny:cast Sue, that third, I'll flourish
Johnny:cast Sue, the third level on Benny
Johnny:uh
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:All right Argyle it your turn Okay
Johnny:So Benny, you get that much healing?
Johnny:
Argyle:Alright I gonna move over here And now I will cast let double check I can cast this
Argyle:Uh... sorry, Asmodeus is moving closer to be closer to...
Argyle:Let me undo that.
Argyle:Would this be better?
Argyle:No, either way, I'm not going to be close.
Argyle:Okay.
Gamemaster:On...
Argyle:Oh, this is also 30 feet.
Argyle:Okay, I'll just do that.
Argyle:Great.
Argyle:And then I will cast Bone Shaker.
Argyle:Okay, two more to go.
Gamemaster:Oh, range is 100 feet.
Gamemaster:Okay, absolutely.
Argyle:Yeah.
Argyle:The mind.
Gamemaster:Is this the two-action
Argyle:Okay, so if I...
Gamemaster:or the three-action version?
Argyle:What does the third action get me again?
Argyle:Let me double check.
Argyle:Okay.
Gamemaster:Um,
Gamemaster:you get to move them around
Gamemaster:like an awkward marionette by pulling their bones.
Argyle:Oh, okay. Actually, in that case, I'm just going to do three action.
Gamemaster:Okay, well, no, no, no, it's three-action Flourish cast, so it's only two actions.
Argyle:And then trit.
Argyle:No, I know. I know. I just... yeah.
Gamemaster:I just want to...
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:Okay, so you're not moving.
Argyle:Okay, so I'm going to cast on that guy, so he needs to make a...
Gamemaster:You are casting Bone Shaker on the Maid.
Argyle:Yes.
Gamemaster:The Maid will attempt this Fort save.
Gamemaster:They roll well.
Gamemaster:They succeed.
Gamemaster:so they take half damage and you can move the target up to five feet.
Argyle:Okay, so...
Argyle:Okay, well I'm going to move it five feet off that so it falls.
Benny:Hmm.
Gamemaster:It's going to choose not to do that and fall prone instead.
Gamemaster:It heard that being prone is optimal anyway, so it's just kind of sticking with that.
Anzu:Hello
Argyle:Boom.
Gamemaster:You still roll damage, it takes half of that.
Argyle:Okay.
Argyle:Yes.
Argyle:Okay.
Gamemaster:Also it appears that you were targeting Johnny when you originally did it because it asking me to apply 12 points of bludgeoning damage to Johnny which I going to do because that funny
Argyle:Oh.
Johnny:Oh no No Wait
Argyle:Oopsie Okay okay
Argyle:And then I'm going to sustain this.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:Who are you attacking with your spiritual armament?
Argyle:The Med.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Argyle:So...
Gamemaster:Target them and roll an attack.
Argyle:Good, good, good, good, good.
Benny:and the crit effect is they swap positions
Johnny:Oh.
Anzu:Oh.
Gamemaster:That is a crit! Good natural 20.
Anzu:Oh.
Johnny:Oh.
Anzu:Oh, no.
Argyle:Good, good, good, good, good.
Argyle:It's not that much gas, but...
Gamemaster:But it's doubled, and you rolled well on the dice!
Anzu:Oh.
Johnny:That's still pretty good.
Argyle:Hell yeah!
Anzu:Double that number.
Argyle:Yes!
Gamemaster:Okay, the number is doubled. The maid takes 38 points of damage. They are not
Argyle:Yes!
Anzu:She's dead.
Gamemaster:Not yet bloodied.
Gamemaster:No.
Gamemaster:It was a good try, though.
Argyle:There we go.
Benny:Wow.
Johnny:Whoa, hey, guy.
Gamemaster:I respect the hustle.
Argyle:That's our gal's turn.
Gamemaster:It's a... it's Skindrone1's turn.
Gamemaster:I think the only thing that's in range for Skindrone1 is Johnny.
Johnny:You don't have to do this.
Gamemaster:So it's one... it's one action to walk up to Johnny.
Gamemaster:And that's going to be actions two and three to attempt to flay Johnny.
Johnny:You don't have to do this, sir.
Argyle:I'm not going to spoil anything.
Johnny:It's all right.
Anzu:That's good.
Gamemaster:I missed.
Gamemaster:Flaying is two actions.
Gamemaster:I don't get to flay you, I'm sorry.
Gamemaster:It's Skindrone 2's turn.
Gamemaster:Skindrone 2 is going to attempt to escape the tentacles.
Gamemaster:Do I have a...
Argyle:But have you guys seen The Odyssey?
Benny:No.
Johnny:Not yet.
Anzu:Yes.
Argyle:Okay.
Argyle:No, no, no, no.
Benny:it's just got to be a default right
Johnny:I've read the book
Anzu:Yeah, you can't really spoil.
Gamemaster:I mean, I know the story of the Odyssey.
Johnny:song as old as rhyme
Anzu:It's kind of a tale as old as time.
Argyle:No, no, no.
Argyle:No, no, no.
Gamemaster:Okay, he fails his escape attempt, and then he takes one point of bludgeoning damage.
Gamemaster:Oh, I was targeting Johnny that time. I'm sorry.
Johnny:like there's a vendetta against me
Johnny:currently
Johnny:everyone in this room is
Benny:it's just got to be a default right
Gamemaster:And that's the end of his turn.
Johnny:fucking fucked
Gamemaster:it's the Ugathal's turn
Johnny:Guys, you don't have to...
Anzu:Brutal.
Gamemaster:the Ugathal
Gamemaster:similarly only has one guy
Gamemaster:he can go for
Gamemaster:so he's going to spend one action to go to Johnny
Gamemaster:this time I am targeting Johnny
Johnny:Guys, you don't have to...
Gamemaster:it's on purpose
Gamemaster:he's going to spend his second action to use a claw
Gamemaster:on him
Gamemaster:and that is going to hit
Gamemaster:so we're going to roll damage
Gamemaster:that succeeds, then it doesn't hit.
Anzu:Use your reaction to parry it and increase your armor class by one.
Johnny:I parried to increase my armor class by one.
Johnny:I do not.
Anzu:Oh, that's not great.
Gamemaster:Then we can ignore that damage.
Gamemaster:If you actually have the parry reaction...
Johnny:I don't have a period reaction.
Gamemaster:Oh, okay.
Gamemaster:Then never mind.
Gamemaster:I take it back.
Gamemaster:You do take the 14 points of damage,
Gamemaster:and then he's gonna...
Gamemaster:You're grabbed.
Gamemaster:He's grabbed you.
Gamemaster:You've been grabbed.
Johnny:Oh, uncool guy.
Johnny:What?
Johnny:What?
Gamemaster:It's the maid's turn.
Johnny:This feels bad.
Gamemaster:The maid...
Gamemaster:heals.
Gamemaster:The maid is going to stand up
Gamemaster:because they didn't actually hear that being prone is optimal,
Johnny:Oh, no.
Anzu:Uh-oh.
Gamemaster:despite the fact that I actually probably would be in this scenario.
Gamemaster:And it's going to spend two more actions
Gamemaster:banging on this glass,
Gamemaster:bringing the amount of actions it spent up to three.
Gamemaster:Anzu, it's your turn.
Johnny:Oh, no.
Anzu:Oh, my God.
Anzu:That's sickening.
Johnny:The tide is turning so fast.
Anzu:Um, geez, I guess I should keep going for her, huh?
Gamemaster:Thank you Ooh
Anzu:Um all right i my only option is to
Benny:Mm Oh
Argyle:Wait a second Do you think it a her because it a maid
Johnny:you That token looks feminine
Argyle:Wait a second.
Gamemaster:I imagine it's because he's looking at the token, and the token does look feminine.
Gamemaster:In truth, it's a worm, but you already knew that.
Gamemaster:It could be a female worm.
Gamemaster:You don't know.
Anzu:Yeah, I just have to send another frostbite her way.
Argyle:Do you think if it's healing I should be frying it with Holdi?
Gamemaster:You are more than welcome to do that.
Anzu:So let's cast it.
Anzu:Oh, and I'll give myself some damage.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Anzu:I don't know.
Argyle:Probably just fire, huh?
Argyle:Yeah, it's probably just fire.
Argyle:Ooh, it's an 11!
Gamemaster:That was a success.
Anzu:Still a success.
Argyle:Oh wait, that was her rolling that.
Anzu:I will roll damage anyway.
Argyle:Fuck that.
Gamemaster:Yeah, I'm sorry.
Benny:I like
Gamemaster:absolutely
Anzu:She takes half.
Gamemaster:17 points of damage
Anzu:And I gain temp HP equal to half the damage she takes after applying resistances and the like.
Gamemaster:she took 17 points of damage
Anzu:How much damage does she take?
Gamemaster:um
Anzu:So half of that is 8.
Anzu:8.
Anzu:will gain 8 temporary hit points.
Gamemaster:yes
Argyle:Hell yeah.
Benny:Holy shit.
Gamemaster:Oh, that's so good.
Anzu:I'll send another
Anzu:Psy Burst at the Skinskitter.
Anzu:We'll save.
Gamemaster:I completely forgot to move the skin skitter.
Gamemaster:That's fine.
Gamemaster:It's a will save.
Anzu:Indeed.
Anzu:Oh, no way.
Gamemaster:He, I think, critically fails.
Anzu:So he going to take double I guess right It didn roll great on that one I am awesome
Gamemaster:He critically fails the mind shift.
Gamemaster:yes uh double it doesn matter double is enough to um kill the skin skitter outright it only had 11 points of HP remaining so we just going to remove that from the board
Argyle:Okay good Thank you
Anzu:Um, okay.
Gamemaster:Absolutely.
Anzu:With my final action, I'm going to move onto the pod here.
Anzu:I can use Soaring Flight
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:Uh, do you have to land on it, though?
Anzu:and fly there
Anzu:I believe
Anzu:yes but I'm incredibly lightweight
Gamemaster:Okay, well, it doesn't matter.
Gamemaster:I am going to make you roll an acrobatics check if you're landing on it to see if you damaged the pod at all.
Anzu:Okay, let me look at one thing and ask you a question first.
Gamemaster:Okay. That's allowed.
Anzu:Where is it?
Anzu:Um, I don't really think this applies.
Anzu:Does this apply at all?
Gamemaster:Uh, I would allow this to count as a balance action, yeah.
Gamemaster:As you're, like, walking up the fat, being careful enough to step on the glass. That's balancing.
Anzu:All right.
Anzu:I mean, I guess it doesn't really matter because the success probably doesn't break it.
Anzu:So.
Anzu:I got a 29.
Gamemaster:Um, you critically succeed.
Gamemaster:The glass is unbroken.
Anzu:Deft as a feather.
Anzu:But instead I'm a lot of feathers and also other components.
Gamemaster:But also feathers, that's included.
Anzu:That's my turn.
Gamemaster:It's Skintrone 3's turn, because Johnny sustained the spell.
Anzu:My bird.
Anzu:Okay.
Gamemaster:Skintrone 3 is going to take five points of damage from the slither,
Anzu:Thank you Can you use assurance
Gamemaster:and then end his turn.
Gamemaster:Benny it your turn Um no I gotta tell you it not difficult There are a bunch of like greebles and stuff on the wall that you can use to climb up
Benny:yay I don know how I feel about athletics checks but I am going to climb
Anzu:Can you use assurance?
Benny:I need a crit success.
Benny:Do I know the DC before I go in?
Gamemaster:I'm not going to give you the actual number.
Benny:Is that actually how big my proficiency is?
Gamemaster:Also, while you roll that, I'll be back in a second.
Gamemaster:What did we get?
Benny:I'm going to roll.
Benny:there's nobody goes wrong again right
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:He's rolling.
Gamemaster:26 is a success.
Benny:two better than assurance
Benny:but not a crit
Gamemaster:It's not a crit, but it is a success.
Benny:um
Benny:let's see
Benny:I'm five feet short of
Gamemaster:uh you are now within five feet of the maid yes
Benny:having a ten foot
Benny:climb
Benny:but anyways
Benny:so
Benny:I'm up
Benny:I'm still not within
Benny:5 feet of the maid
Benny:oh because I'm climbing
Gamemaster:yeah oh wait no sorry um you should be i don't know why it's oh i see
Benny:oh
Benny:I mean I can put myself further up I guess
Gamemaster:yeah that's that's that's better that's closer to where you are because you moved five feet up
Gamemaster:and you were 10 feet away so now you're five feet away
Benny:Nice. I find myself with an abundance of actions.
Gamemaster:okay
Benny:And I choose to double slice.
Benny:Takes one of my hands.
Gamemaster:Um, you are climbing, which takes your hands.
Gamemaster:No, it takes both of your hands.
Gamemaster:The requirement of climb is you have both hands free.
Benny:Oh, right.
Benny:There's like a climbing attacker feat.
Benny:Okay, I'll finish the climb.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Benny:With assurance.
Gamemaster:Alright, well, you succeed with the chance.
Benny:Nice.
Benny:and then when I get up here
Argyle:But this might kill all of us.
Johnny:This is
Anzu:Oh my god.
Gamemaster:OK, absolutely.
Benny:I'd like to solve the puzzle.
Benny:Nice.
Benny:I think I have to save my mythic
Benny:for something that might kill me.
Argyle:I can heal.
Benny:You think I'm going to...
Argyle:I'll be healing you next round.
Argyle:I guarantee I'll heal you next round.
Benny:All right, we'll re-roll with Mythic then.
Gamemaster:He rolls the same thing, but with the mythic bonus.
Gamemaster:Higher number. That does hit.
Benny:I rolled a two and then a seven.
Gamemaster:Oh, I thought you rolled a 7 both times. I'm sorry.
Benny:Yeah.
Gamemaster:Either way, a 30 is enough. You hit.
Gamemaster:16 points of damage
Benny:Nice.
Benny:Yeah.
Gamemaster:absolutely
Johnny:Thank you you So just specific number
Anzu:Thank you you You want to walk flesh
Gamemaster:in case you need it for your bookkeeping
Gamemaster:16 is how much damage they took
Gamemaster:and that is
Gamemaster:I believe
Gamemaster:the end of your turn, yeah?
Gamemaster:They are bloodied. Nothing special happens
Gamemaster:when they become bloodied, but they are bloodied.
Gamemaster:That can be right I looking at their stat block and I think there was an issue with like transcription or something because they have a plus 168 bonus to Fleshwarp lore which doesn make much sense
Benny:Thank you you just know all of it
Gamemaster:They just know all of it.
Gamemaster:um
Gamemaster:kind of seems like it yeah like everything else is within bounds like they're normal numbers except
Anzu:I'm your guy.
Gamemaster:for flesh warplorer which actually i apologize oh no it is it is 168 yeah um which is too much
Benny:Yeah.
Gamemaster:um either way that's the end of your turn yeah
Gamemaster:Okay, that brings us to the maker.
Benny:Of course.
Gamemaster:Oh, wait, I'm sorry.
Gamemaster:First, Benny, you are going to take four points of bleeding damage.
Gamemaster:You may attempt a recovery check if you like.
Benny:Nice.
Gamemaster:Excellent.
Argyle:Uh-oh.
Gamemaster:Okay, next up is the maker.
Gamemaster:Because you climbed away, the maker is no longer silenced.
Gamemaster:No, it's first thing it's going to do...
Gamemaster:I know it's not going to be useful, but this is what it would do in this particular instance.
Gamemaster:It's going to cast Hypercognition.
Gamemaster:And it's going to just kind of profile each of you.
Argyle:Hmm.
Benny:No.
Johnny:Oh, get out of here.
Anzu:I don't have any.
Gamemaster:Do any of you have weaknesses or immunities or resistances?
Argyle:No.
Argyle:Our guy looks very scary, though,
Benny:Yeah.
Gamemaster:Absolutely.
Argyle:so I'd understand if it decided
Argyle:it should just pack its bags and retire.
Benny:Yeah.
Gamemaster:No.
Gamemaster:It doesn't learn much info out of that,
Gamemaster:but I think it will probably just follow that up with a wave of despair.
Gamemaster:Who can I hit?
Gamemaster:A 30 cone isn amazing They can follow that up with a wave of despair You guys are surrounded by enemies
Argyle:Hmph Hmph
Benny:Thank you Just where we like to be
Johnny:Thank you Yeah I did this on purpose
Gamemaster:That sucks.
Benny:Yeah.
Gamemaster:Is that where you like to be?
Gamemaster:I'm gonna roll a
Gamemaster:D4.
Gamemaster:Even as Benny odd as Johnny.
Johnny:What about a third option that's neither of us?
Argyle:I'm just moving back.
Johnny:Just me. I mean, okay, I can't really do much.
Gamemaster:Johnny, I'm gonna attempt to confuse you.
Gamemaster:Attempt that will save, please.
Argyle:I just wanted to test something.
Gamemaster:A 27 is a failure, fortunately.
Johnny:I'm going to use a mythic point.
Johnny:Maybe.
Benny:Yes.
Anzu:Do you like right click on yourself or on the 27 or something?
Gamemaster:That is your prerogative. There's a button in the bottom right apparently you can use.
Johnny:If there is...
Benny:You click on the 27.
Johnny:It's not.
Gamemaster:I've been informed.
Johnny:I don't think it's popping up for me.
Gamemaster:Despite rolling poorly, that is just barely a success now.
Benny:Yeah, it's on the others.
Johnny:Oh, I was right-clicking on the 27.
Johnny:I see.
Johnny:Wow.
Johnny:Guys, I think I got to drop calm so I can do stuff.
Gamemaster:So instead of being confused for a minute, you are stunned one.
Argyle:Okay.
Benny:That's fine.
Gamemaster:And that is the end of its turn.
Gamemaster:So Johnny, it is your turn.
Gamemaster:You lose your first action because you're stunned.
Gamemaster:You are grabbed still, sorry.
Johnny:So I will drop calm.
Argyle:Okay.
Argyle:Okay.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Argyle:Okay.
Argyle:Okay.
Johnny:And then what do I have to do I have to What roll do I have to make to get un
Gamemaster:column An escape which is either an acrobatics an athletics or an unarmed attack I
Gamemaster:believe.
Johnny:Ha!
Johnny:Hi.
Johnny:Let's see here.
Johnny:Weirdly enough, my unarmed attack
Johnny:is better than either of the other numbers.
Johnny:so I will
Johnny:do I just strike this dude
Gamemaster:Uh, yeah.
Johnny:I'll punch this guy
Johnny:I hit him
Gamemaster:Uh, you...
Gamemaster:You do succeed.
Gamemaster:Um, which means you are free.
Johnny:does he also take damage
Gamemaster:You are no longer grabbed.
Johnny:when I punch him
Gamemaster:Um, no.
Gamemaster:I don't believe.
Johnny:Okay.
Gamemaster:Yeah, no.
Johnny:Okay.
Gamemaster:because otherwise then like there wouldn't be
Gamemaster:very good reason to not use unarmed attack
Gamemaster:instead of the other two
Gamemaster:yeah you just
Gamemaster:you are that was your
Gamemaster:that was action two you are free you have a third
Gamemaster:action that you can do
Johnny:What's the range on this?
Johnny:30 feet.
Johnny:Nine.
Johnny:Oh, wait a minute.
Gamemaster:okay
Johnny:Nice.
Johnny:He's just within range.
Johnny:Okay.
Johnny:I cast haste
Gamemaster:What's the range on haste?
Johnny:on
Benny:.
Johnny:30 feet
Johnny:on Benny. I believe I am
Gamemaster:Who are you casting it on?
Johnny:at exactly 30 feet from him.
Gamemaster:Benny is 40 feet from you.
Johnny:Oh, damn! It's not a straight line.
Gamemaster:No.
Johnny:Never mind.
Johnny:I take that back.
Gamemaster:I'm sorry.
Johnny:No, it's okay. I forgot
Johnny:about geometry.
Johnny:The best way.
Gamemaster:I didn't.
Anzu:Is there anything you could do to the maid?
Argyle:You could cast hate on Argyle.
Johnny:Range on this?
Anzu:Okay.
Gamemaster:Nobody has checked if the maid has any weaknesses.
Johnny:No, that's not.
Anzu:Sorry, I've been otherwise occupied.
Johnny:That's also 24.
Johnny:Do we know if the mate has any weak ?
Gamemaster:In fact, I don't know if anybody's checked any of them.
Johnny:And what have we cast on it?
Johnny:All right, well, they're fleshy, so maybe it's fire.
Anzu:Oh my god.
Gamemaster:And you fill up my entire sidebar.
Johnny:I will flourish cast.
Johnny:That's my last third level, geez.
Johnny:Illusory creature.
Gamemaster:This is such a long spell.
Gamemaster:Um, okay.
Johnny:I'd like to summon it on the other side of the maid,
Johnny:so it is flanking with Benny.
Benny:Nice.
Johnny:And it's just, it's Benny, but made of fire.
Gamemaster:Absolutely.
Benny:Nice.
Gamemaster:Okay, I know this is a commoner, but it's also, that guy's your illusory creature.
Benny:Peace.
Johnny:Okay.
Johnny:And then as part of this, I believe I can make a strike when I summon this thing.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:Yeah, use your spell attack modifier for its attack rolls and your spell DC for its AC.
Johnny:There's five.
Johnny:Excellent.
Gamemaster:Its saving throw modifiers are equal to your spell DC minus 10.
Gamemaster:When it hits with a strike, the target takes 3d4 mental damage.
Gamemaster:Absolutely.
Johnny:I think there's a clause in here somewhere.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:Yeah you get two actions as part of casting this so you can attempt that twice if you like
Johnny:Any relevant resistance and weaknesses apply if the target thinks they do.
Johnny:So if it thinks this is fire Great This is needle darts but it actually because I only have
Johnny:This is the only attack spell I have.
Gamemaster:Yep.
Johnny:Okay.
Johnny:That's a hit.
Johnny:I'm going to use...
Gamemaster:That hits.
Johnny:I'll roll damage before I decide what happens.
Gamemaster:Yeah, roll 3d4.
Johnny:What is the damage?
Johnny:I think it goes up because 3-4 is the base, isn't it?
Gamemaster:Oh, it's... yes, it's the damage increases by 1d4 for each heightened that you did.
Gamemaster:Did you not cast it at 3rd level?
Johnny:I did.
Gamemaster:Or is it actually normally 2nd level?
Gamemaster:One second.
Johnny:All right.
Anzu:just got bottom
Gamemaster:Yeah, so if you cast it at 3rd, so then it's 4d4 mental damage.
Gamemaster:that is a four-sided die.
Johnny:All right.
Johnny:I don't know why I did it this way, but we did it this way.
Anzu:All right.
Gamemaster:Okay, well, you rolled three four times in a row.
Johnny:That's great.
Gamemaster:Twelve points of mental damage.
Johnny:So it takes...
Anzu:Just picking the d4 up and putting it back down on the table.
Johnny:All right, that's fine.
Gamemaster:It takes twelve points of mental damage.
Gamemaster:It does not appear to take any additional damage,
Gamemaster:as if it thinks that it's weak to fire.
Gamemaster:Yep.
Johnny:I'm just going to take the other strike with map.
Anzu:Ooh.
Johnny:I think I need a map since I get two actions here.
Anzu:Would that have made that 23 hit?
Gamemaster:You can do that.
Gamemaster:That one misses, unfortunately.
Johnny:That is all I got.
Johnny:but this thing shouldn't think it's flanked now.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:It does think it's flanked.
Johnny:Hopefully.
Gamemaster:It is actually flanked, I believe.
Gamemaster:Argyle, it is your turn.
Gamemaster:uh
Gamemaster:oh my god
Gamemaster:did it not apply the flank it didn apply the flank good catch Tanner Sorry Argyle move back Johnny that does hit because it flanked
Anzu:Thank you I so good at this game
Johnny:Oh amazing Amazing
Anzu:I won the quiz.
Gamemaster:You did win the quiz, that's true.
Gamemaster:Okay, so please do me a favor and roll 4d4 in one go instead of one at a time.
Gamemaster:It's slash r space 4d4.
Johnny:That was so much worse.
Anzu:Oh, much worse. He should have done it separately.
Gamemaster:Thank you. Much worse. But six points is six points. You deal six additional points
Gamemaster:of mental damage to the maid.
Johnny:Man, when you actually roll and don't just pick the dice up and put it back down, your
Johnny:rolls are a lot worse.
Gamemaster:I'm sorry.
Anzu:We don't get to decide what your role each time.
Gamemaster:Yeah. Argyle, it is now your turn.
Anzu:She is probably going to break it on her next turn, and you're the only one that goes before her.
Johnny:Okay.
Benny:I
Johnny:I think if you think you can kill this thing, because it...
Benny:yeah
Johnny:Yeah.
Anzu:Okay.
Johnny:Yeah.
Johnny:I think next round you have to bring us all back up, but I think this is more important.
Anzu:Okay.
Johnny:And by bring us all back up, I mean bring me back up.
Anzu:You don't think the skin drone and Uginthal are going to continue to miss on their attack
Johnny:I mean, I do have a big AC of 25, so they might.
Gamemaster:You're a big what?
Anzu:rolls?
Anzu:You've got me beat.
Johnny:What's your AC?
Johnny:Oh.
Johnny:My big Dex.
Anzu:Josh.
Gamemaster:29 on sorry oh on the maid Yes 29 hits
Johnny:Dex.
Johnny:Dex.
Johnny:Thank you Just weird looking
Gamemaster:This creature is not unholy.
Gamemaster:I'm so sorry.
Gamemaster:21 points of fire damage.
Gamemaster:Absolutely.
Gamemaster:It takes 21 points of damage and is still standing.
Anzu:Oh my god.
Gamemaster:A 24 just barely hits.
Anzu:No, no, just take what you got.
Gamemaster:Seven points of damage is not enough to take it down.
Johnny:Yeah.
Anzu:Gosh, terrible.
Johnny:Oh no.
Johnny:Oh no.
Gamemaster:It is on death's door, but it is still standing.
Anzu:Oh.
Johnny:Is bashing its head into the glass, does that have the manipulate trait?
Anzu:Gail.
Gamemaster:Yeah, no, that's a fair point.
Johnny:Does that trigger...
Anzu:Gail.
Benny:Maybe.
Johnny:Jim Dee?
Gamemaster:I would say that it is in manipulate.
Gamemaster:Yeah, it's interacting, it's manipulate.
Anzu:So you're saying there's a chance.
Gamemaster:Okay, absolutely.
Benny:You've seen me rolling.
Johnny:No, they see you rolling.
Johnny:They hating.
Gamemaster:That brings us to the skin drones.
Johnny:I think if we can save and save Benny the action.
Anzu:I think that's it.
Gamemaster:26 hits.
Anzu:Oh my god.
Anzu:Oh,
Anzu:this man.
Gamemaster:Spending the mythic for the hit.
Johnny:Oh no, it's not gone yet.
Anzu:F.
Gamemaster:You deal 9 points of damage.
Gamemaster:The maid has 6 hit points remaining.
Gamemaster:The maid collapses to the ground.
Johnny:It's still there.
Gamemaster:It is Skindrone1's turn.
Johnny:God.
Johnny:psychic also doesn't do it
Gamemaster:Skindrone1 doesn't have to move anywhere.
Johnny:mental sorry
Johnny:could be void
Gamemaster:It's Skindrone1's turn.
Johnny:Maybe it needs like silver or something?
Gamemaster:Skindrone1 is going to attack Johnny.
Gamemaster:it actually doesn't get to make choices
Anzu:ifer.
Johnny:Cold iron?
Johnny:It does not have to attack me, Josh.
Johnny:It can make different choices.
Gamemaster:it has to attack you
Gamemaster:although I missed
Gamemaster:and then we'll try the flay
Gamemaster:I will battle the flay
Gamemaster:no one gets flayed today
Johnny:Thank you Oh no it coming
Gamemaster:skin drug 2 turn Skindrone 2 is going to attempt to escape the tentacles Did it succeed It succeeded
Benny:you He out
Anzu:Oh Oh no
Anzu:My timer is ticking.
Anzu:Is it still...
Benny:He's out.
Johnny:It's coming for us.
Gamemaster:Uh.
Anzu:Is it difficult terrain in there or no?
Gamemaster:It is difficult to reign.
Gamemaster:So.
Gamemaster:That's its first movement.
Gamemaster:That's its
Gamemaster:second.
Johnny:Oh no.
Gamemaster:It ends its turn out of the tentacles.
Anzu:Okay.
Johnny:It doesn't have to do this, Josh.
Anzu:This is an acceptable outcome.
Gamemaster:It's the Ugathal's turn.
Gamemaster:Johnny, I'm sorry, you're here.
Gamemaster:It doesn't really have another valid target, so it's going to... it's going to...
Johnny:It doesn't have to do this.
Gamemaster:This one does have the ability to choose not to do this, but it's choosing to do it anyway.
Gamemaster:So, take 16 points of slashing damage.
Johnny:Wish it was something else.
Johnny:Ow.
Gamemaster:Sorry.
Gamemaster:And then it's gonna grab you.
Johnny:Just...
Gamemaster:And then...
Johnny:Oh, no.
Gamemaster:No, this doesn't require a save or anything.
Gamemaster:It's going to extend its three-pronged tongue proboscis to nourish of your blood.
Gamemaster:You are trained.
Gamemaster:Oops, hit the button too many times.
Johnny:Oh, no.
Benny:Wait, hold on.
Gamemaster:It is the maid's turn.
Gamemaster:The maid heals.
Gamemaster:The maid is on the ground.
Gamemaster:The maid is going to stand up.
Benny:I would like to say something.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:Yeah?
Benny:The Uggothal
Benny:that Benny hit
Gamemaster:Yeah?
Benny:last session
Benny:attempted to regain hit points.
Benny:I would like it to make a DC 24 will save to see if it actually gets those hit points
Gamemaster:It did.
Gamemaster:That crazy
Benny:Um.
Benny:I think it's just imminence.
Benny:I think it just does it.
Benny:There's no spark transcendence.
Benny:It's just the passive.
Gamemaster:Yeah, no, it's just when you've damaged an enemy with the icon.
Benny:well I mean
Gamemaster:So we'll also have to do it for the maid to see if the maid has the ability to revive.
Benny:who is keeping track of
Benny:hitting the maid
Benny:and
Benny:mm-hmm
Gamemaster:Yeah, when the target would regain from a healing effect, including fast healing, which is what's causing it to revive.
Gamemaster:Okay, so first we'll do the Ugathal.
Gamemaster:See if it...
Gamemaster:I rolled well for the Ugathal. It does succeed.
Gamemaster:So it gains the full amount of hit points that it gets from Johnny.
Gamemaster:We will roll for the maid as well. This DC is unfortunately a little low, so it does succeed for that one.
Benny:It's all we got.
Johnny:Wait, it's moving, it's moving!
Anzu:Oh my...
Gamemaster:That was a good try, but unfortunately it does manage to stand back up.
Gamemaster:I will say it is one action to stand back up.
Benny:It's it's it did stand back up.
Johnny:Oh the puzzle! This is the puzzle!
Gamemaster:It's standing back up, so you get one try to try and knock it back down.
Benny:Wow.
Benny:Oh, a three.
Gamemaster:That isn't enough, unfortunately.
Benny:Delightful.
Anzu:yes it is
Gamemaster:Yeah?
Gamemaster:No, the illusory creature is still around.
Anzu:oh my god
Gamemaster:It's a 24, which makes it just barely a hit.
Gamemaster:That's twice now.
Gamemaster:I just have to...
Gamemaster:Let me apply off-guard to it so I don't have to remember that.
Johnny:Kill this thing
Gamemaster:But yeah, no, that does literally just barely hit because of the flanking.
Anzu:snip snap snip snap
Gamemaster:25 25 knocks it right back down
Anzu:Bye.
Benny:25 25
Gamemaster:you're just gonna just knock it down every time it stands back up
Benny:Benny has damage.
Benny:All right.
Benny:We don't have to worry about what kind.
Benny:I don't got to worry about anything.
Anzu:Okay, it worked that time.
Gamemaster:um absolutely okay
Gamemaster:next up is Anzu
Gamemaster:On to...
Gamemaster:Nice.
Anzu:Yay.
Anzu:Yay.
Gamemaster:The problem is literally just if you refresh.
Gamemaster:It doesn't reinstantiate the hook that would do the pop-up.
Anzu:Well, I thought I broke it again because when you went to my turn and then went back, I just X'd out the box.
Gamemaster:Oh, no, that's fine.
Anzu:And it showed me as stupefied.
Gamemaster:That is...
Gamemaster:Yeah.
Anzu:Anyway.
Anzu:I think
Anzu:that
Anzu:I'm gonna go for the folks that are on Johnny.
Gamemaster:Absolutely.
Anzu:Which one of these spells do I want to do?
Anzu:This one.
Anzu:Can I do a little math in my head real quick?
Gamemaster:Oh, while you do the math, something I forgot to do last time and hasn't actually been relevant because you keep knocking down the maid.
Gamemaster:I do want to clarify that, you know, in the map, there's this like weird head in that tank.
Gamemaster:It's not quite true to how I'm envisioning what's going on in there because this is just a bunch of like skin wearing worms.
Gamemaster:So the the thing inside of the tank looks more like a collection of
Benny:Thanks for the correction.
Johnny:That's really bad.
Anzu:They leech the vitality from these two creatures.
Gamemaster:of like leeches almost in a ball forming this Giant mouth.
Gamemaster:Just to clarify.
Benny:Yeah, no, much better now.
Gamemaster:Yeah.
Gamemaster:Just to clarify.
Johnny:No, that's bad, Josh.
Johnny:Probably gonna have to kill that thing later.
Johnny:Whatever's in that jar.
Anzu:They make fort saves.
Gamemaster:Absolutely.
Gamemaster:Oh gosh, I was going to show you a picture of it, but they removed all the pictures from
Benny:Tui.
Johnny:Oh, no.
Anzu:pf2e.tools
Gamemaster:Archives of Nethis.
Gamemaster:Yeah, I will in a second.
Johnny:Is it on – did you just Google it?
Johnny:50.
Anzu:holy moly
Gamemaster:It might be on pf2e.tools.
Gamemaster:Okay, the Skindrone and the Ugathal fell.
Johnny:50.
Johnny:I think that takes double damage, right?
Gamemaster:The Ugathal critically fails, if that is relevant here.
Anzu:uh
Gamemaster:It is a basic fort, yeah, so it takes double damage.
Anzu:I think it was a basic fortitude save, yeah.
Gamemaster:Okay, so the Skindrone takes 25 points of damage, and the Uguthal takes more than double
Johnny:Does that mean I'm no longer grabbed?
Gamemaster:its remaining hit points, and that collapses to the ground dead.
Gamemaster:and I am going to remove this one from the map.
Benny:Hell yeah.
Anzu:Josh?
Johnny:Can I shrug it off?
Gamemaster:Correct, you are no longer grabbed,
Gamemaster:because the thing that was grabbing you exploded into a cloud of blood.
Johnny:Nice.
Anzu:I'm a little confused on the wording of part of this spell.
Johnny:Yeah.
Anzu:So in the second half it talks about me getting temp HP equal to half the damage took, but
Anzu:I trying to tell if that only applies on later turns and not this one
Gamemaster:Mm No oh Yes the first time each round you sustain the spell on subsequent turns
Anzu:So I don't get any temp HP from that casting.
Gamemaster:Correct it's it's equal to half the damage a creature. Yeah. Yeah
Anzu:That makes sense because it's a bigger roll.
Anzu:Okay.
Anzu:So that area persists.
Gamemaster:Correct
Anzu:They took their damage.
Anzu:that was flourish casted from two to one, which means I have two more actions.
Johnny:um
Anzu:What is the range on this?
Anzu:Tell me your range. 30 feet. So I'm going to move forward a bit.
Benny:Providing a handshake.
Johnny:what the phone
Anzu:Josh, if I go here, am I up to plus 10 or at least at plus 5 feet?
Gamemaster:No, you're up to plus ten.
Gamemaster:At the top of the vat you are ten feet up.
Anzu:Okay, so I can attack this skin drone with a Psiburst.
Gamemaster:It is twenty feet from you, yeah.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:save from the Skindrone. I rolled high but their modifier is low. He still fails.
Anzu:Not bad.
Gamemaster:He takes an additional 11 points of damage. Absolutely. He's not looking great.
Anzu:Not bad.
Gamemaster:You've done considerable amount to him.
Anzu:That's it.
Gamemaster:Okay, Skindrone 3's turn. Skindrone 3 is no longer calm. He's quite angry.
Gamemaster:he's gonna attempt an attack to escape
Gamemaster:um a 27 I believe just barely doesn do it One second It doesn The DC 28
Gamemaster:We'll... do these things...
Gamemaster:Yeah, that misses, that misses.
Gamemaster:Okay, so he's, uh, despite the fact that he's no longer calm and actively trying to escape,
Gamemaster:he will take six more points of damage and stay trapped.
Benny:um
Johnny:Yeah, and then just jump down.
Anzu:Honestly, throwing her is not a horrible idea.
Gamemaster:Benny, it's your turn.
Gamemaster:I would allow you to
Benny:rowing her
Benny:would it would have to be angled
Anzu:Or like a one action shove to push her over the edge.
Gamemaster:shove her sideways in this particular instance
Benny:She has to stand up anyways.
Gamemaster:You're effectively just rolling the corpse off the side of this vat.
Gamemaster:It took her, I believe, one.
Gamemaster:She could just walk up the side, though.
Gamemaster:She had a climb speed.
Benny:Oh, right.
Benny:She has to stand and then climb.
Benny:because I'll be
Benny:pushing a...
Benny:How does pushing work for someone that's prone?
Gamemaster:I'm just going to say you won't need to roll
Gamemaster:because they cannot fight back
Gamemaster:you will just push them five feet down the side
Gamemaster:of the thing
Gamemaster:yeah absolutely
Benny:Let's shove them.
Gamemaster:no athletics check necessary it's a corpse
Gamemaster:they fall back down
Gamemaster:and land on top of the maker
Gamemaster:they are 15 feet away from you
Benny:Nice.
Benny:how far away is the maker from me
Johnny:you You jump down on the maker and go to town on the maker
Benny:um um
Benny:i think i have to stay up here in case she gets up
Benny:which isn't good because i just have to stand here um
Benny:But if she comes back up
Gamemaster:I don't know.
Benny:and I don't...
Benny:Yeah.
Benny:Yeah, we'll just...
Benny:So what is the
Benny:jump down action?
Benny:Can I just descend?
Gamemaster:I think it's technically...
Benny:How...
Gamemaster:Well, okay, so the answer is it's 10 feet.
Benny:It's 10 feet, so am I...
Gamemaster:So...
Gamemaster:Hold on a second.
Benny:When you've won more than five.
Gamemaster:Let me just double check.
Gamemaster:What even is...
Gamemaster:I don't know if the initial damage is 10 feet or 20 feet.
Gamemaster:When you fall more than 5 feet,
Gamemaster:you take bludgeoning damage equal to half the distance you fell.
Gamemaster:So you can...
Gamemaster:yeah, you'll take five points of damage
Benny:Will you let me move it, Tim?
Gamemaster:if you don't want to try climbing down.
Gamemaster:Otherwise, I will let you roll an athletics check
Gamemaster:to jump to climb down instead.
Gamemaster:Oh, I will note
Gamemaster:if you
Benny:Yeah.
Benny:so falling out a creature if you land a creature most attempted dc15 save
Gamemaster:you can jump and do it, you will fall prone.
Gamemaster:Because in Pathfinder, if you take any amount
Gamemaster:of fall damage, you automatically fall prone.
Gamemaster:But
Gamemaster:you can fall on the creature
Gamemaster:if you like.
Benny:Oh, this is just to give it the same amount of bludgeoning damage, but I will still take the damage and be prone.
Gamemaster:Yeah.
Gamemaster:Correct.
Gamemaster:Or you can roll an athletics check and just climb down.
Benny:Would that be one action or two?
Gamemaster:One action. I'll give you one action.
Benny:Or would...
Benny:Okay.
Gamemaster:21 is still a success
Benny:I shall roll that.
Benny:I mean, what the hell is going on?
Benny:Oh, right, because of the...
Gamemaster:you're there
Gamemaster:you're now at 10 feet elevation
Gamemaster:and you still have
Gamemaster:two actions remaining
Benny:Because of the haste.
Gamemaster:You're not hasted, it's just one action to go down.
Benny:Oh, no, but I shoved.
Gamemaster:Oh, you shoved. You're totally right.
Benny:Oh, right, I was too far away for the haste.
Gamemaster:I apologize, I forgot you shoved.
Gamemaster:Yeah, you just have one action remaining.
Benny:Standard strike.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:That hits.
Benny:That's what I have to roll.
Benny:I have to roll an eight to hit, and I can't.
Gamemaster:I mean, you did, you hit.
Gamemaster:You succeeded, good job.
Gamemaster:Clap clap clap clap clap.
Benny:Fifteen.
Gamemaster:15. 15 points of damage to the maker.
Gamemaster:15 points of damage to the maker, plus some.
Benny:Yes.
Johnny:Oh.
Anzu:Thank you Don think we don know how to weed them out
Gamemaster:Because he is weak to slashing.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:Is that the end of your turn? It is.
Gamemaster:brings us to the maker gets to respond.
Gamemaster:Oh, I'm sorry. First, you're going to take five points
Gamemaster:of bleed damage and may attempt
Benny:That's too much.
Gamemaster:a recovery check.
Benny:Big fan of these recovery checks Let me get my low rolls out
Gamemaster:You are still bleeding Yeah I I very sorry
Gamemaster:Okay, so because you're here, he's silenced now.
Gamemaster:Which is kind of very annoying for a monster that is mostly based around casting spells.
Benny:Mm-hmm.
Gamemaster:I mean this doesn't have the
Gamemaster:it could leave
Johnny:It's stunned.
Anzu:because it's confused
Gamemaster:I don't think it's going to do that
Gamemaster:I think it's just going to go on the attack
Gamemaster:instead
Gamemaster:it's not
Gamemaster:going to eat the maid
Gamemaster:it's not confused
Anzu:very confused
Gamemaster:it's none of these things
Johnny:I get stunned.
Gamemaster:I'm just debating whether or not I can warp reality
Gamemaster:it has the concentrate
Anzu:okay
Benny:You were the maker.
Anzu:I don't.
Gamemaster:it has the concentrate trait
Gamemaster:and it doesn't have subtle
Gamemaster:so I think despite it not actually being a spell
Gamemaster:I'm going to choose to assume
Gamemaster:that it needs to not be silenced
Gamemaster:in order to do it
Gamemaster:so instead it's just going to try and bite
Gamemaster:Benny's head off
Gamemaster:25
Benny:Nice.
Gamemaster:you are clumsy
Gamemaster:that hits
Benny:Oh, right.
Gamemaster:it lasts a minute
Benny:Clumsy three for a full minute is crazy.
Johnny:Yeah, he succeeded.
Anzu:Brutal.
Gamemaster:oh wait
Gamemaster:did you succeed on the synesthesia check
Gamemaster:you succeeded
Johnny:It should have just been one round.
Gamemaster:then it's just one round
Gamemaster:so then actually you're not clumsy
Gamemaster:and then I believe this doesn't hit anymore
Gamemaster:because your AC is 3 higher
Gamemaster:okay well
Gamemaster:we just going to try and bite your head off again and roll higher the second time
Benny:Of course Yeah And it does miss
Anzu:looks like it worked
Gamemaster:Big bunny. You're gonna take 28 points of damage. And then I have one
Anzu:Don't go under there.
Gamemaster:One more action.
Gamemaster:It's at two times map.
Gamemaster:Oh, and I miss!
Johnny:Oh, God.
Anzu:I'm dog sitting this
Gamemaster:And I miss.
Gamemaster:That's the end of the Maker's Turn.
Gamemaster:Johnny it's your turn.
Gamemaster:Your Dirge of Doom ends.
Anzu:today
Anzu:this is my dad's dog Cindy Lou
Gamemaster:Ooh!
Anzu:she's 10 months old
Johnny:Oh, what a good dog.
Gamemaster:That's fun.
Johnny:Wow.
Johnny:That's a nice dog.
Gamemaster:That's a good dog.
Anzu:something like that
Anzu:yeah
Johnny:He's beautiful.
Anzu:okay
Anzu:She's Canadian.
Benny:Oh right
Johnny:Anyway, I started yelling out death metal.
Anzu:Okay, now it's taken.
Gamemaster:That explains it.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Johnny:That's my link to the composition.
Gamemaster:Absolutely.
Anzu:Okay.
Gamemaster:Um...
Johnny:I think that's just a regular success.
Johnny:This was fine.
Johnny:8.
Gamemaster:What level are you guys? 14?
Gamemaster:Uh, yeah, the crit would be 34.
Johnny:Oh, I was so close.
Gamemaster:Okay, the Dirge of Doom has returned.
Johnny:Back.
Johnny:Then I will...
Gamemaster:Okay.
Johnny:I'll just try and Flourish Cast Needle Darts on the dead body.
Johnny:because I have silver.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Johnny:We going to see if silver does anything
Gamemaster:All right he trying silver
Johnny:Nope, that was I.
Johnny:Sorry, I hit the wrong button.
Gamemaster:You've got a little ahead of yourself.
Gamemaster:You have to attack first.
Gamemaster:Yeah, unfortunately, a natural one is going to miss.
Johnny:So we don't know if silver does anything.
Johnny:With my final action, I will sustain Bless.
Benny:No.
Anzu:Oh, feeling good.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Johnny:Bless.
Gamemaster:If you click on the 15 foot bless, it should increase in size, Johnny.
Gamemaster:There you go.
Johnny:I think that should be everybody.
Benny:No.
Gamemaster:All right.
Johnny:Okay.
Johnny:Yep.
Gamemaster:That's the end of your turn.
Anzu:Thanks.
Gamemaster:Argyle!
Gamemaster:Okay
Gamemaster:Lame
Benny:there's a lot of healing though
Gamemaster:47 points of healing.
Gamemaster:It's not nothing.
Gamemaster:that's what they all say
Gamemaster:mm-hmm
Gamemaster:yep
Gamemaster:yep
Gamemaster:okay
Gamemaster:absolutely
Gamemaster:oh actually well
Gamemaster:so you do have to lower in elevation
Gamemaster:because you're currently 30 feet up
Gamemaster:you have to be down to like 15
Gamemaster:you can do that because you're airwalking
Gamemaster:just FYI that you will have to do that
Gamemaster:hmm
Gamemaster:okay
Gamemaster:that does unfortunately miss
Anzu:An action for a mythic point, yeah.
Anzu:Summon mythic power?
Gamemaster:it is summoned with power
Gamemaster:Alright
Gamemaster:That brings us back to the skin drones
Gamemaster:The spell that you cast originally
Benny:Thank you We would like to fly
Johnny:Oh, come on, man.
Anzu:Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Gamemaster:Anzu
Gamemaster:Is that when he starts his turn in it
Gamemaster:Or when he ends his turn
Gamemaster:Oh it's just when you sustain it
Gamemaster:On your turn right
Gamemaster:Okay so
Anzu:I sustain.
Anzu:It's just...
Anzu:Yeah.
Gamemaster:He's gonna step
Gamemaster:And then he's going to attempt to flay Johnny
Gamemaster:we play we play We flay We flay You gonna take 13 points of slashing damage and also 1d6 persistent bleed
Anzu:At least it an action Eaton You know you you know oh boy
Johnny:You don have to
Johnny:Guy, come on.
Anzu:Jarnathan
Johnny:We could be friends.
Johnny:Oof, I'm bloody, I'm drained.
Gamemaster:As you are flayed.
Johnny:I'm losing blood everywhere.
Gamemaster:It's not looking great for you.
Benny:I do believe the maid was hit
Gamemaster:It's Skindrone 2's turn.
Gamemaster:Oh, I have him still grabbed.
Gamemaster:He's not grabbed anymore.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:And now begins the long walk.
Gamemaster:25.
Gamemaster:50.
Gamemaster:75.
Gamemaster:75.
Gamemaster:It's the maid's turn.
Gamemaster:The maid heals.
Benny:by
Gamemaster:Oh, that's true, give me the wisdom saving throw I have to attempt.
Benny:someone that applies
Benny:Yes.
Gamemaster:Sorry, will save.
Gamemaster:No, I rolled very well.
Anzu:Insane.
Gamemaster:It succeeds.
Benny:Fair enough.
Gamemaster:Okay, its first action is to stand up.
Benny:Big money, no whammies.
Benny:Oh, I have a plus 20 now.
Benny:so I'll get a 22
Gamemaster:What? That's too many.
Benny:I don't think I can roll less than 10
Gamemaster:That hits.
Anzu:the levels have been
Gamemaster:You have to roll more than 10 damage. Or equal to or more than 10 damage.
Anzu:absolutely
Anzu:amazing
Anzu:very well
Benny:I can't actually
Benny:nice
Gamemaster:It sits back down. And by sits back down I mean it dies again.
Benny:it's going to be second
Gamemaster:Anzu, it's your turn.
Benny:that wounded, that doomed.
Anzu:we continue to mind burn Okay Okay
Gamemaster:Unfortunately does not apply here
Benny:All right.
Anzu:Question.
Gamemaster:It has regeneration, which in the words for regeneration means it cannot get past dying
Gamemaster:three, no matter how many times you hit it until you've disabled its regen.
Benny:All right.
Gamemaster:Sorry, yes Anzu.
Anzu:She's currently a corpse.
Benny:Yeah.
Johnny:Yes.
Anzu:Which kind of makes her an unsecured object.
Gamemaster:Mm-hmm.
Gamemaster:Technically true.
Anzu:Do objects automatically critically fail?
Anzu:Reflex saves.
Gamemaster:Objects do automatically critically fail reflex saves.
Anzu:Do we want me to yank her 30 feet away?
Anzu:Okay.
Anzu:I might...
Benny:pull her into the black tentacles
Anzu:Oh, that's interesting, but I'd also be pulling Johnny into the mist and he would have to
Gamemaster:Do it.
Anzu:critically succeed to not end up in it.
Gamemaster:Do it.
Anzu:Actually I don't think I could pull her that far anyway.
Gamemaster:Pull Johnny into the mist.
Anzu:I am going to kind of have to pull a lot of people, but not into the mist, theoretically.
Benny:Final offer.
Johnny:No, please.
Gamemaster:only Johnny into the mist.
Anzu:We want to pull her as far as possible.
Gamemaster:Take his blood.
Johnny:I have something to write.
Johnny:Right.
Anzu:I think that this is best case scenario.
Anzu:Benny's not in it and I would argue that Argyle due to his height might not be in it but Josh you can be the judge of this
Anzu:wait wait yeah let me cast it and send it in Sorry All right so everything within that including you guys need to make this reflex save
Gamemaster:This is a big animation.
Gamemaster:you have to what is the What is the range
Johnny:What was that animation
Gamemaster:30 foot...
Gamemaster:Well, there's an easy way to check, Johnny.
Gamemaster:I'm borrowing you.
Gamemaster:One second.
Johnny:In the middle of the combat, Johnny is suddenly ganked around by the power of God.
Gamemaster:Argyle is exactly 30 feet away from the center.
Benny:Please, Johnny.
Johnny:I regular succeeded.
Anzu:it's not going to do any damage, but it does pull the maid all the way to the center
Anzu:because she's an unattended object.
Benny:Crit succeed.
Benny:Fuck.
Johnny:No!
Johnny:No!
Johnny:Just Benny and the maker.
Anzu:Well, that's...
Benny:Oh, wait, you're moving five feet towards the sound?
Anzu:Yeah, so...
Benny:Okay, that's fine.
Benny:I just wanted my bless.
Anzu:So Johnny moves five feet, you know, just right down one
Benny:I keep the bless
Johnny:Is it, would it just be like directly left or is it diagonal?
Gamemaster:Yes, it's diagonal left.
Anzu:to the left, I mean.
Anzu:It would be diagonal towards the center.
Anzu:And then the drone, the skin drone.
Benny:what the hell was that
Gamemaster:The drone failed, so it moves 15 feet towards the center.
Johnny:It hits Johnny on the way by.
Johnny:Ugh.
Johnny:Oh, come on.
Gamemaster:Others move as far as they can without being blocked.
Gamemaster:Okay, so that's 5'10".
Gamemaster:That's as far as it gets.
Benny:.
Johnny:It's in the mist, though.
Johnny:Am I in the mist?
Anzu:It is in the mist.
Johnny:Oh, no.
Gamemaster:You're not in the mist.
Anzu:And then Argyle...
Anzu:Argyle's...
Gamemaster:Johnny is just barely not in the mist.
Johnny:Okay.
Anzu:Argyle moves five feet in some capacity.
Johnny:Rough bite for Johnny.
Anzu:I don't know how that works with his...
Gamemaster:Argyle, would you prefer to move down 5 feet or to the left 5 feet?
Anzu:Okay, that was...
Gamemaster:Okay, yeah, that's fine.
Gamemaster:That works.
Anzu:That was one action.
Anzu:with my next action we do the
Anzu:mist um
Anzu:Let me see what I can do.
Gamemaster:Absolutely.
Anzu:Maybe if I send it into chat?
Gamemaster:Okay.
Anzu:Are you able to make a fort save on that?
Gamemaster:I absolutely am.
Gamemaster:How does a failure sound to you?
Anzu:I'm going to click roll damage, but I might have to not do that.
Anzu:No, I can't do that.
Anzu:I need to do this.
Anzu:2d6.
Anzu:Do I not get my plus eight from Unleash Psyche?
Gamemaster:Yeah, correct.
Anzu:Let me just look.
Anzu:When you cast a damaging spell.
Anzu:Okay, this is sustaining.
Anzu:Okay, so it doesn't get it.
Anzu:That makes sense.
Gamemaster:11 points of void damage.
Anzu:Ooh.
Anzu:Decent.
Anzu:I will take my five temporary hit points.
Gamemaster:And you get 5 temporary hit points.
Anzu:that's two actions
Gamemaster:Why does nobody want to make these guys do reflex saves?
Anzu:final action
Anzu:hit him with the sideburst
Anzu:we'll save
Gamemaster:Uh, 15, sorry, 21, which is a failure.
Anzu:Ooh, rolling high.
Gamemaster:14 points?
Gamemaster:He only has 13!
Anzu:No way!
Gamemaster:That does a murder.
Anzu:Incredible!
Anzu:He got pulled into the mist by the...
Anzu:Alright, now I'm feeling really good about this turn.
Gamemaster:You pull him into the mist, you pull all his blood out, and then you explode his brain.
Gamemaster:It collapses to the ground.
Gamemaster:He is dead.
Anzu:That's it.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:It's skin.
Anzu:Thank you Is that HP or temp HP
Gamemaster:Sure While you figure out what that is I going to Uh Uh five
Gamemaster:No.
Gamemaster:I'm rolling.
Gamemaster:I'm rolling.
Anzu:I don't know, actually.
Anzu:It doesn't really matter.
Anzu:I was just curious.
Benny:Nice.
Anzu:No.
Gamemaster:I rolled really well for the escape attempts and still just barely wasn't enough for the
Gamemaster:skin drone, so it instead takes three points of damage from the tentacles, and then it's
Gamemaster:Benny's turn.
Benny:Nice.
Benny:Kill.
Gamemaster:He's going for the maker.
Gamemaster:Oh, he's double slicing the maker.
Benny:Yes.
Gamemaster:This might be the end of the maker.
Benny:but no crit
Johnny:I think a minute.
Gamemaster:How long does silence last, by the way?
Gamemaster:That misses.
Johnny:Very long time.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:You still got four rounds.
Johnny:Yep, lasts for a minute.
Gamemaster:Second attack hits.
Benny:no it's fine
Benny:it's fine
Gamemaster:No crit.
Benny:it's just
Benny:16 damage
Gamemaster:I'm sorry.
Gamemaster:16 points of damage.
Benny:Yeah.
Gamemaster:Unfortunately, he doesn't take as much damage
Gamemaster:as you would like from that hit.
Benny:We shall
Benny:Perry.
Benny:Perry.
Gamemaster:OK.
Gamemaster:Is that the end of your turn?
Gamemaster:It the Maker Turn Oh I sorry before it the Maker Turn Benny you going to take six points of bleed damage and attempt a recovery check You are still bleeding Benny has been bleeding the whole time
Benny:Yes.
Benny:Of course Yeah this is ridiculous
Johnny:you Please
Anzu:Jeez very bad rolls from Benny tonight
Anzu:statistically really unfortunate
Gamemaster:Yeah.
Anzu:yeah
Anzu:remarkable
Anzu:Well,
Benny:Yeah.
Johnny:Statistically improbably bad.
Gamemaster:I'm curious. Oh my god. That's crazy. Did you have... yeah. One second.
Gamemaster:here
Gamemaster:so you guys can see it too
Gamemaster:that's ridiculous
Gamemaster:that's crazy Mike
Anzu:Josh, can you include all of his damage rolls and plot percentage beneath average roll?
Benny:it looks about right and I just rolled that 15
Johnny:Whoa.
Johnny:Whoa.
Benny:that was the hit that I just got
Benny:I have an
Benny:average of 5 I've rolled
Benny:4 2's
Benny:most recently this
Benny:oh sorry this recovery check was a 5
Johnny:What?
Gamemaster:That's wild.
Gamemaster:Uh, no.
Benny:...
Anzu:Disappointing.
Gamemaster:Unfortunately this module that I'm using only shows D20 rules.
Gamemaster:And is relatively new so I don't have much data.
Gamemaster:But I will eventually hook it up so I get all of your dice rolls and we can do fun stuff
Gamemaster:like that. But in the meantime, I'm so sorry, the Maker is going to continue to try to bite
Gamemaster:your head off You silenced him and you put him in a position where he can leave because he get attacked So he doesn really have much to do except attempt to bite your head off The second attack hits and then the
Johnny:you Okay
Gamemaster:third attack misses. So just one hit here. You're gonna take 30 points of damage
Gamemaster:split between piercing and spirit, but that is the end of his turn. Which brings
Gamemaster:us to Johnny next. Johnny, you are drained, you are bleeding, you are next to a corpse.
Johnny:I...
Johnny:I don't even know what to do with this corpse.
Johnny:I'll try and needle darts this thing again.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:that hits this time
Johnny:Flourish cast needle darts.
Johnny:See if silver does anything.
Gamemaster:roll damage
Johnny:Straight down into this thing.
Johnny:18.
Gamemaster:18 points of damage
Gamemaster:as the silver needles make
Gamemaster:contact with the skin of this
Gamemaster:creature, you watch the points where it hits bubble up with this black volatile caustic
Gamemaster:liquid, and the whole body just kind of collapses into this pile of fleshy ooze.
Johnny:I got one attack spell.
Gamemaster:It seems it will not be coming back from this.
Johnny:I got one attack spell.
Johnny:That was two actions.
Gamemaster:It's gone.
Johnny:What else do I...
Johnny:Yeah, I'll also buy a hunk of cold iron when we find it.
Gamemaster:Technically, no. There are some monsters that are affected by silver and not by cold iron.
Gamemaster:But if you have both, then you have both.
Gamemaster:Yeah. Yeah. Lev could choose to have the perfect thing, that they were vulnerable.
Benny:Thank you, Zedard.
Johnny:I mean, that would be a lot.
Gamemaster:horrible too. Unfortunately Johnny needs to go out and find rare metals to make needles
Gamemaster:out of.
Johnny:I'm going to bone roll this thing.
Johnny:I'm going to diplomize this guy.
Gamemaster:Okay!
Gamemaster:Roll a diplomacy check against his wildy-see.
Gamemaster:You're aiming for a 25 or higher.
Johnny:Oh, gosh.
Johnny:I can do that.
Johnny:Easy.
Johnny:Easy peasy.
Johnny:There it is.
Gamemaster:Oh my god.
Gamemaster:Yeah, you definitely can.
Johnny:Damn it!
Gamemaster:I just saw what your diplomacy is.
Gamemaster:Never mind!
Johnny:Damn it!
Gamemaster:Spoke too soon!
Johnny:No!
Johnny:No!
Johnny:No!
Gamemaster:A 23 is not enough.
Johnny:I have two actions, so I'm just going to do it again.
Johnny:I'm just going to clear my throat and yell the exact same quip.
Gamemaster:Okay, absolutely.
Johnny:That damn worked.
Gamemaster:That is a success.
Johnny:I think it takes damage equal to my level.
Gamemaster:That worked.
Gamemaster:That sounds correct, I believe you.
Johnny:Because of...
Johnny:I'm super mythic.
Gamemaster:Mental damage equal to your level.
Johnny:Cutting Rebuke!
Johnny:Takes 8 points of mental damage.
Gamemaster:Eight points of mental damage.
Gamemaster:Absolutely.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:It's still alive, but it's definitely hurt by that.
Johnny:mentally and emotionally
Johnny:uh
Gamemaster:Yeah, it didn't like what you said.
Gamemaster:How much didn it like what you said We see Anything else on your turn Argyle Oh I sorry First
Johnny:that all I got yeah
Anzu:you It kind of hard to not believe
Gamemaster:Johnny, you were flayed. Take three points of bleed damage. Attempt a recovery check.
Gamemaster:You continue to bleed. Now it's Argyle's turn.
Gamemaster:I mean you can always
Benny:How much of a boost if we spend the action?
Gamemaster:proactively spend an action
Gamemaster:it's easier when you spend the action
Gamemaster:than if you just try the recovery check
Gamemaster:I think it drops the DC
Gamemaster:down to a 10
Benny:Oh.
Gamemaster:which unfortunately
Gamemaster:for many would not have helped. 53 points of healing.
Benny:Probably.
Benny:Feeling.
Johnny:Oh, sounds.
Gamemaster:Also, apparently if you're fully healed to max HP it will end bleed damage.
Gamemaster:No.
Gamemaster:No.
Johnny:Oh.
Gamemaster:30 hits.
Gamemaster:Stab the maker.
Gamemaster:8 points of slashing.
Gamemaster:Well, 8 points of slashing, it seems to take more than the damage you dealt.
Gamemaster:And then your second attack also hits.
Gamemaster:Because you're blessed.
Gamemaster:Okay you deal 14 points of slashing damage It has 15 hit points remaining But it is weak 10 to slashing
Johnny:No No No No No No
Anzu:Thank you Oh
Johnny:No.
Anzu:Oh!
Anzu:Oh!
Johnny:No.
Gamemaster:So that is enough to take it over 24 points of damage.
Anzu:Oh, yeah.
Gamemaster:Absolutely.
Gamemaster:The two hits take it out, and as it, as the Maker, that like weird crab-like thing collapses
Gamemaster:to the ground, the skin drones that it was controlling similarly collapse to the ground.
Gamemaster:And you find yourselves now standing in this hospital, quote-unquote,
Gamemaster:surrounded by all of these vats filled with these strange creatures,
Gamemaster:centered by this large vat with a selection of fun-looking, gross, fleshy eels or leeches
Gamemaster:collected into a ball, currently inert,
Gamemaster:because you did successfully stop the maid from unleashing it.
Gamemaster:and I will
Gamemaster:you're definitely in a
Johnny:As I'm bleeding out, I will aid Anzu.
Anzu:yeah
Gamemaster:I will at this point
Gamemaster:accept an arcana or
Gamemaster:an occultism
Gamemaster:check to try and
Anzu:that's what I wanted to hear
Gamemaster:like figure more stuff in
Gamemaster:yeah
Gamemaster:right so I will say right now
Gamemaster:both Johnny and Benny
Gamemaster:are bleeding out um oh gosh that was a 41 what was that a 41 for Johnny Who are you aiding
Johnny:A A A Anzu
Anzu:Whoa Aid
Johnny:Anzu.
Gamemaster:Oh, you're aiding Nanzu.
Gamemaster:Okay, yeah.
Gamemaster:I mean, that's a crit success.
Anzu:What does that give me?
Johnny:Plus three at this level.
Anzu:Wow.
Anzu:I got a 36.
Anzu:Occultism.
Anzu:Occultism.
Gamemaster:A 36 occultism.
Gamemaster:Absolutely.
Gamemaster:Okay. With a 36 occultism, first of all, with a 36 occultism, it is pretty easy to tell that, yes, the heart of this, the heart of this Fane is that Giant vat with the collection of, it is not currently awake, the Giant vat in the center.
Gamemaster:I will say also, with the 36, some interesting things of note, just picking it up, as you have the occultism check and looking around.
Gamemaster:Hospital, as used to refer to this place, is an interesting term in that I think the first thing that Anzu would think of when he sees this area is not that it is necessarily a place of healing, so to speak.
Gamemaster:but also
Gamemaster:you can imagine
Gamemaster:like Anzu sees a world
Gamemaster:in which this was
Gamemaster:set up to be more medical in nature
Gamemaster:and this heart has been
Gamemaster:corrupted in much the same way that the
Gamemaster:machine god had been by the
Gamemaster:spiders that had infiltrated
Gamemaster:it is no longer
Gamemaster:what it had originally served the purpose to
Gamemaster:it has been twisted in some
Gamemaster:way by the creatures that have taken up here
Gamemaster:with the
Gamemaster:lens of if Anzu squints and like really thinks about it, there is a world in which the weird
Gamemaster:ball of...
Anzu:Hmm.
Gamemaster:Eels or leeches or anything that makes up the heart could at one time have been something akin to like bloodletting leeches, like healing leeches, although it has clearly been corrupted in such a way that that is no longer currently what it appears to be or its function in any form.
Gamemaster:it is asleep
Gamemaster:which means it isn't like erratic
Gamemaster:or anything as originally described
Gamemaster:to you but you gather that
Gamemaster:is probably due to the fact that it doesn't know you're here
Gamemaster:and not due to the fact that it is
Gamemaster:all better
Gamemaster:the creatures
Gamemaster:themselves are interesting
Gamemaster:it's not immediately obvious
Gamemaster:from
Gamemaster:the images
Gamemaster:here on the map but they are
Gamemaster:this weird
Gamemaster:they were at one point humanoid probably
Gamemaster:but the things that sleep in these
Gamemaster:the things that sleep inside of these bats are
Gamemaster:strange in that the entirety of their face
Gamemaster:has this kind of chitinous exoskeleton
Gamemaster:that has grown on top of it
Gamemaster:forming this almost skull-like appearance
Gamemaster:and around the neck and moving down to the chest
Gamemaster:that are these five pulsing bands.
Gamemaster:I'd love a survival or nature...
Gamemaster:Actually, a nature check would fit here
Gamemaster:if you want to look at these creatures more in-depth.
Benny:I heard right here Thank you you you
Johnny:Oh, nice.
Gamemaster:Also, Benny gets healed 50 hit points
Gamemaster:because Argyle's just chucking out heals.
Gamemaster:If you're up to full, you're no longer bleeding.
Gamemaster:I think a 26 doesn get you much here unfortunately Anzu It a nature check
Anzu:you Is it too late for me to mythic since you already kind of told me the outcome there
Gamemaster:Yeah.
Gamemaster:No.
Anzu:Terrible.
Gamemaster:No, you can mythic. That's fine.
Gamemaster:Yeah, unfortunately one more of 27 still doesn't get you much in this particular instance.
Anzu:Terrible.
Anzu:Oh.
Gamemaster:A 33 on a nature check, that's not bad.
Gamemaster:It's not amazing for these guys.
Gamemaster:Let me double check. Let me actually look up level base DC.
Gamemaster:A 33. Okay, so a 33 is a success. It's just not a crit.
Gamemaster:So specifically the banding around the neck and chest.
Gamemaster:It must be that Argyle had, for whatever reason, when he was a kid, he found a book on bugs.
Gamemaster:I don't know why else this fact would be bumping around in his head.
Gamemaster:but worms have
Gamemaster:instead of one heart
Gamemaster:they have five hearts in rings
Gamemaster:very similar to what you see in the
Gamemaster:exterior of these creatures
Gamemaster:which gives you the vibe that they were
Gamemaster:at one point humanoid
Gamemaster:but something has been imparting
Gamemaster:or has already successfully
Gamemaster:imparted the same
Gamemaster:worm-like features
Gamemaster:that you know to be
Gamemaster:the machine
Gamemaster:god told you that there were worms
Gamemaster:that lived here as opposed to the spiders in the previous area,
Gamemaster:and it seems that some of that has been imparted on.
Gamemaster:I will also note...
Gamemaster:It is difficult to see from here,
Gamemaster:but because Anzu rolled so high on his occultism check I will say that something you note as you peer into the vats of each of these creatures
Gamemaster:is that they have a raiment
Gamemaster:they have a deep black raiment
Gamemaster:it is
Gamemaster:considerably sized
Gamemaster:it's difficult to get
Johnny:Are these tanks just filled with...
Gamemaster:an immediate
Gamemaster:idea
Gamemaster:given that these things are kind of squished
Gamemaster:into these vats and you don't have a clear view
Gamemaster:of it
Gamemaster:you would eyeball it to be larger than yours
Gamemaster:at least
Gamemaster:yes
Gamemaster:no it's
Johnny:Is there like a liquid or is it just kind of air in there?
Gamemaster:there is a liquid
Gamemaster:There is a light blue glowing circulating liquid inside there with these creatures.
Johnny:Is there a source that's pumping from?
Gamemaster:It appears to be...
Gamemaster:I'll let you make a crafting check to get more details,
Gamemaster:but it at the very least appears to be hooked up to Lifeline, to the heart.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:Absolutely, you can do that.
Anzu:thing
Gamemaster:30 crafting. Okay, with the 30 crafting, yes, it appears that it is a closed circuit where the
Gamemaster:liquid flows through these things into the vat that Lifeline is in and then back into each of
Gamemaster:these individual containers. With the 30, the other connection you make is that this liquid,
Gamemaster:while perhaps a little dilute compared to how you had seen it before,
Gamemaster:is a blue glowing liquid.
Gamemaster:It strikes Anzu as pretty similar to the liquid that you have both seen in the guns produced by Sable and Suns as well as the stuff you had seen in the area underneath Teller Run in Hallia
Johnny:you Why is this
Anzu:Thank you So
Johnny:Oh, great.
Anzu:Jorge, was that medicine check to heal somebody?
Gamemaster:Yeah, you could try that.
Johnny:Oh, great.
Johnny:I've stopped bleeding?
Johnny:Cool.
Johnny:Okay.
Johnny:bleeding cool
Gamemaster:You will continue to be trained until you go to sleep though, Johnny, just FYI.
Johnny:all right
Gamemaster:31.
Gamemaster:With a 31.
Gamemaster:So, Argyle sees a pathway to effectively killing all of the things in the bats here.
Gamemaster:And the answer is that there are administration ports, like areas that are intake valves that are normally closed.
Gamemaster:Over on the left and right side, it's those blue rectangular things.
Gamemaster:you could pretty easily introduce something
Anzu:Well, Machine God said that Lifeline is broken beyond repair.
Gamemaster:into that liquid that would cause damage to the things within without necessarily waking them up.
Gamemaster:If you got your hands on some kind of poison, that would work.
Gamemaster:The caveat there is that it will affect all of them, including the heart.
Gamemaster:If you poison them, all of them will die.
Johnny:Once again, Eid.
Anzu:Josh, what I would like to do is to see if I can surmise a way to kill the heart.
Gamemaster:Absolutely.
Anzu:You know, we could reach into some hearts and pull their thread.
Anzu:I want to know if there's a similar mechanism that could be done on this one.
Anzu:I don't want to do it just yet, but I'd like to investigate.
Gamemaster:That is another arcana or occultism check.
Anzu:So that makes me get a 35.
Gamemaster:A 35 is a success to your check, Anzu.
Gamemaster:35.
Gamemaster:With a 35, yes, there is definitely a spot.
Gamemaster:There is all hearts when you get up close to them are not particularly strong.
Anzu:Yes.
Anzu:You're welcome.
Anzu:Enjoy.
Gamemaster:and so there is a spot that you notice that you can go up and it is officially effectively a valve
Anzu:Mm-hmm.
Gamemaster:on the exterior of this massive vat that the uh the heart is in that you could just pluck at um
Gamemaster:and you would kill the heart with the 35 you also know that doing so uh will not automatically kill
Gamemaster:all of the things in the vats and it is possible although you have no way of knowing for sure that that will remove whatever influences keeping them asleep
Johnny:you Can we time it
Gamemaster:You do not. No.
Gamemaster:I think without a roll
Johnny:Or do we think that these things will bust up?
Gamemaster:you are pretty confident
Gamemaster:that if you
Gamemaster:kill the heart using
Gamemaster:the weakness that Anzu found
Gamemaster:there is a chance that it will wake up
Gamemaster:before you have the chance
Gamemaster:to then run over into the other area
Gamemaster:and inject the poison
Gamemaster:separately going the other way
Gamemaster:if you inject the poison the heart will be dead
Gamemaster:before you have a chance to pull out the energy from it.
Gamemaster:Yes, even if you coordinate it.
Anzu:It's still being, yeah.
Gamemaster:Yes, but disconnecting the heart
Gamemaster:is no different than killing the heart via the valve,
Gamemaster:because you would have to meaningfully disconnect it
Gamemaster:from all of the smaller hearts.
Anzu:Yeah.
Gamemaster:You would be able to extract 70 energy from it.
Anzu:Mm-hmm.
Gamemaster:All of these creatures are presumably pretty magical.
Gamemaster:I don't know if you would know how well that stands up
Gamemaster:once it's dead and no longer bathed in this magic liquid.
Gamemaster:But at the moment, they are definitely magical.
Gamemaster:It's not going to go anywhere.
Gamemaster:It just be poisoned I don think you have a good understanding yet of the alchemy of this to know how that would meaningfully affect it
Anzu:you So my feeling is that we are not in immediate need of 70 energy
Anzu:Obviously, it would be nice to have.
Johnny:I don't think waking them up is worth the 70 energy.
Anzu:But I don't want to wake these things up.
Anzu:That sounds bad.
Anzu:I think we poisoned the goop.
Anzu:I don't...
Anzu:Okay.
Gamemaster:If you're trying to extract the goop after the fact, it's the same valve that you would use to kill the heart is an outlet valve.
Gamemaster:So if that's what you're trying to do, that's fine.
Anzu:I don't own any poison currently.
Johnny:Wait, I have one question before we jump into this.
Gamemaster:Well, there's the liquid in there, there's no creature.
Johnny:Josh, you said that this one vat over here is empty.
Johnny:There's nothing in there.
Johnny:So could we, if we want to get some of the liquid,
Gamemaster:Same with this one.
Johnny:can we just cut the tubes going to it and separate off those two guys,
Johnny:and then we can pull the liquid out of there and poison the rest?
Johnny:Yeah
Gamemaster:Yeah I think that would work
Gamemaster:I don't know if you have any way of knowing if it's making it.
Gamemaster:You know that it's a part of the process.
Gamemaster:But it is a closed system.
Gamemaster:I don't think that you have any reason to believe that anything's making liquid.
Johnny:Machine God, do you have a potent poison lying around?
Anzu:Hello, we need a potent poison, do not ask why.
Gamemaster:Are you actually asking the machine gun?
Johnny:Yeah.
Gamemaster:He'll say...
Anzu:That's a great point.
Gamemaster:Um, no, but there are spider corpses around me that had venom.
Anzu:Now these creatures, I might have written this down wrong,
Anzu:they were called the true kin or something like that?
Gamemaster:I'm sorry, you cut out for me.
Gamemaster:they're the true kin of the Herald
Anzu:These creatures, I feel like he told us what they were called,
Anzu:and I have true kin written down, but I don't know if that was correct.
Anzu:Where did they come from?
Gamemaster:he will say
Anzu:Do you know?
Anzu:Do you know, uh,
Gamemaster:I don't know from whence they
Gamemaster:originated
Gamemaster:but I do know that they
Gamemaster:first boarded the strider
Gamemaster:some 700 years ago
Gamemaster:and have been lying in wait since.
Anzu:they have these very
Anzu:dark black raiments
Anzu:and
Anzu:Is that something Herald related as well,
Gamemaster:None of the gods I'm familiar with have a black raiment.
Anzu:or is there some outer god that does that?
Anzu:Yeah.
Anzu:Yeah.
Gamemaster:I would assume that is relevant to their fealty to the Herald, but I cannot confirm that.
Gamemaster:I will have one of you guys roll, I suppose, a...
Johnny:I will aid our bird.
Anzu:Oh, because we're being stupid, Josh?
Gamemaster:We're going to call this a lore check.
Gamemaster:It's not actually your lore.
Gamemaster:It's just like a personal history check.
Anzu:Darn it.
Gamemaster:No, not necessarily.
Gamemaster:No.
Gamemaster:No, because your lore is keyed off of intelligence.
Anzu:Oh, another critical aid.
Anzu:Holy moly.
Gamemaster:Hot damn, yeah, that's a crit success.
Johnny:I have aided the bird.
Anzu:That gives me a 38, then.
Johnny:He was like,
Gamemaster:A 30 area is a crit success as well.
Benny:Yeah.
Johnny:Yes.
Anzu:I go, hold on, machine god.
Anzu:I haven't actually taken the time to think about this myself.
Gamemaster:Okay, so there are two things.
Anzu:Johnny, cue the music.
Gamemaster:There's something that your character would have seen,
Gamemaster:and then there's something that you guys as players would have seen,
Gamemaster:but your characters wouldn't have.
Gamemaster:And I don't know if you're, like, being good at roleplaying or not.
Gamemaster:Yeah.
Gamemaster:So the two things are specifically going back to you as people in that last one shot we did in the Verdant Expanse.
Johnny:I think any of the out any of the sinister six give them a black raiment
Anzu:Thank you with There was never like a fiery raiment for any of the Pyrelight people
Gamemaster:The Fae that you came across did also have black raiments.
Gamemaster:And also separately, some of the creatures that you ran into, the flame creatures underneath Teller's Rotten, had black raiments.
Gamemaster:That is something that your characters would have experienced.
Gamemaster:Right.
Gamemaster:Sister Six Simster6 No
Gamemaster:You would know that a fiery raiment is already claimed, that's the heirs.
Anzu:Okay. Fair.
Gamemaster:And none of them were bearers of the heir.
Gamemaster:What do you mean every single bug you ran into?
Gamemaster:In what context?
Gamemaster:The mongrel folk didn't have black raiments.
Gamemaster:Sorry, which mongrel folk?
Gamemaster:Are you talking about the ones that you saw in the Forbidden Sector on the way to the spiders?
Gamemaster:Or like the ones that you were giving sandwiches to?
Gamemaster:Because the ones you were giving sandwiches to were not.
Gamemaster:The ones that you fought in the Forbidden Sector did have the black raiments.
Gamemaster:Although they were much smaller than these.
Gamemaster:Yes. Well, they had... one of them was wearing a carved horn necklace.
Anzu:This is interesting.
Anzu:Um, so.
Anzu:This is funky, Josh.
Anzu:I don't know if this is a thing that I could do.
Anzu:so these folks are following the Herald
Gamemaster:Okay.
Anzu:theoretically
Gamemaster:Uh-huh.
Anzu:we're pretty
Gamemaster:In theory.
Anzu:firmly feeling that
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Anzu:which means
Anzu:they might have the Herald's
Anzu:song in their head
Anzu:I
Anzu:kind of want to try to hear it
Anzu:but I'm worried if I do
Anzu:that it's gonna grab me.
Gamemaster:Okay Okay Okay
Benny:No No
Anzu:Uh and I don really have a specific way like I don have a read mind spell I just trying to extract flavor out of the I am a mind bird kind of uh
Gamemaster:Mm-hmm.
Gamemaster:Yeah, I mean, I think if anywhere is going to give you the flavor to do this,
Gamemaster:it would be the person with the class around psychic abilities.
Anzu:Can I...
Gamemaster:So I think if you want to do this...
Anzu:Hmm.
Gamemaster:Yeah, sorry, you go.
Anzu:Well, I need to...
Anzu:Is it at all possible for me to risk assess
Anzu:the possibility of being enraptured?
Anzu:Hmm.
Gamemaster:So I will say this.
Gamemaster:If you want to...
Gamemaster:Risk assessment is difficult in that I think Anzu doesn't have a way of knowing if...
Gamemaster:First of all, if he can hear the song out of these things, and if he can, if it is, like, compelling in a way.
Anzu:Uh-huh.
Gamemaster:I just, I don't think Anzu has a way of knowing that ahead of time.
Gamemaster:What I will say is that if Anzu wants to, he can try to use his psychic abilities to kind of force his way into their mind and hear it.
Gamemaster:If he wants to do it on a more relaxed timescale, he can.
Gamemaster:He can take more time and try and make himself safer by, like, spending the time to set up the tooling and doing the delving in, with the caveat that he can only do that on a living one of these things.
Anzu:Right, well they are currently living.
Gamemaster:Yes.
Gamemaster:yeah i i'm just saying that because like if you were to go and put the poison in and kill them
Gamemaster:that would remove this particular avenue this is what i'm putting out there
Anzu:Right.
Anzu:No, I kind of figured that much.
Benny:you So we can reverse engineer it and it easier to take out your system
Anzu:Uh guys I need to try and listen into one of these guys heads It might be my only chance to get a breakthrough
Anzu:Right.
Anzu:You don't like it?
Anzu:I think that the vocalist will protect me.
Johnny:Hey, the Watcher does a lot more than just watch, okay, buddy?
Johnny:You don't know what the Watcher does.
Johnny:Johnny gets really in your face on this.
Johnny:Hey.
Johnny:I cast Spirit of Doom on Argyle.
Anzu:Uh-oh.
Johnny:Hey!
Johnny:Hey!
Anzu:Um, I don't know.
Anzu:I mean, the Voidsong is powerful.
Benny:Yeah, you're not that hard to kill, too.
Johnny:So if you want to do this, we're here.
Anzu:Like, I think it's getting, I think it kind of supersedes these other songs.
Johnny:I got a lot of good stuff.
Johnny:I can help you.
Anzu:Okay.
Johnny:Yeah, just let us know when you're ready and we'll get you.
Anzu:I need some time to kind of work it.
Anzu:I...
Anzu:Yes.
Benny:I mean, we could contain you if something went wrong.
Benny:so
Johnny:Yeah, maybe we'll go the other way and get set up.
Benny:what is it
Benny:it's still alleged poison
Benny:oh right from the spiders
Anzu:From the spiders.
Anzu:Yes.
Benny:I guess it's venom
Johnny:Maybe.
Anzu:Why don't some of you guys go get some of the spiders?
Benny:did you eat venom
Benny:Sure.
Johnny:Benny and Argyle go get the poison.
Anzu:I'm going to give Johnny a second level soothe.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Johnny:Johnny and Anzu can get set up.
Gamemaster:If that's what you want to do, you can do that.
Gamemaster:All right.
Johnny:Nice.
Gamemaster:Okay, so if Chadi and Argyle are going off back into the machine gods' thing, into their lair, you can absolutely do that.
Gamemaster:I don't really think
Gamemaster:you know what, I'm going to have you roll
Gamemaster:a survival check just to see if you
Gamemaster:can navigate your way there and back
Gamemaster:from the maze. And then I'll
Johnny:Turn left up ahead.
Gamemaster:also have Argyle roll
Gamemaster:a medicine check.
Gamemaster:Yes.
Gamemaster:Oh yeah, that's totally fair. He can just
Gamemaster:give you... I forgot, you guys found the
Gamemaster:guy that knows he's... you found maps
Gamemaster:You found MapQuest, but for the Strider.
Gamemaster:Yeah, no, never mind.
Gamemaster:You don't need this for Vital Check.
Johnny:Turn left.
Johnny:You missed the turn.
Johnny:Make a U-turn.
Gamemaster:Basically.
Benny:I've been asking the whole session, Jorge.
Anzu:Wow, that's crazy.
Gamemaster:A 26.
Gamemaster:No, because that's not how seeding works.
Gamemaster:I don't know how many times I need to explain to you.
Gamemaster:That's not how seeding works.
Gamemaster:There's no such thing as...
Gamemaster:Okay, I will look at the graph.
Benny:Oh Oh
Gamemaster:You're fine, Jorge.
Gamemaster:Yeah but I not including Mike I sorry Mike you not being included
Gamemaster:And that is fair.
Benny:Okay.
Gamemaster:Um, a, uh, 26 is, I believe, let me double check the level base DC, but I think that's just barely a success.
Gamemaster:Uh, yes.
Gamemaster:Uh, okay.
Gamemaster:So, uh, you only unfortunately get one dose out of it.
Gamemaster:You have to go, uh, your, you have the advantage of, um, the particular creature you're looking for, uh, happens to have imprinted pretty heavily, uh, on Johnny.
Gamemaster:the last time you interacted with it.
Gamemaster:So, you know, you go sifting through stuff,
Gamemaster:and eventually you can find a corpse or two of an apothecary bug,
Gamemaster:where you can then...
Gamemaster:Oh, gosh.
Gamemaster:It just told me that all of your cameras failed to start,
Gamemaster:which I have a feeling is a me problem and not a you problem.
Gamemaster:Oh, I clicked try again, you're fine.
Gamemaster:You do get one dose of spider venom,
Gamemaster:which is a level 5
Anzu:Perfect.
Gamemaster:poison
Gamemaster:yes it is
Gamemaster:you guys have spent the time
Gamemaster:to find the weak spot here
Gamemaster:and you know that the whole system is relatively
Gamemaster:fragile, it was not designed to
Gamemaster:ward off something like that
Gamemaster:so if your goal is
Gamemaster:just wholesale murder of these things
Gamemaster:that'll do it
Benny:you I think the Anzu should not talk to one of them
Anzu:Okay Thank you
Benny:I don't know what the negative effects of poisoning it are.
Benny:I mean, what the alternative is like waiting and see if the machine gun.
Benny:yeah if mission god's wrong and
Benny:it is it can get better
Benny:um
Benny:that seems like
Benny:yeah i think checking on
Benny:if anzu's listening
Benny:like the risk reward there
Benny:i guess because
Benny:i don't know if it tells us we can kill
Benny:the heart cool if it tells us that anzu
Benny:is gonna kill us all
Benny:by awakening these things i think that's
Benny:more important.
Anzu:Because it's an outer god.
Gamemaster:Roll a...
Gamemaster:No, you do it.
Gamemaster:Roll a blind GM roll.
Gamemaster:And roll a 220.
Benny:You got a five.
Gamemaster:Well,
Benny:You got a five.
Gamemaster:Well, you're lucky that you get to re-roll it because it wasn't blind.
Benny:It was a failure.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:You reach out to the judge and ask the possible results.
Gamemaster:This is for if Anzu speaks to the creatures.
Gamemaster:So this bumps up a little bit against what the spell is able to tell you uh but i think argyle gets uh at first a good impression and then a bad impression and then a good impression
Gamemaster:and then a bad impression and it just keeps oscillating between the two it isn't mixed
Gamemaster:it's unclear if it would be good or bad but both are possibilities is the answer
Johnny:Wait, before, Anz, are you about to do this right now?
Anzu:depending on
Gamemaster:yeah so so the thing is i want like do you have a one second i just need to double check if this
Anzu:how long it takes me to set up
Anzu:by Josh's
Anzu:previous
Gamemaster:is a thing that you have um yeah uh roll you're gonna roll an occultism check here and the answer
Gamemaster:is uh unless you do abysmally poorly it will at least take a few hours uh counteracted by the fact
Gamemaster:that i think it would take three hours round trip for argyle and johnny to make it to the spider
Anzu:And I give myself guidance.
Gamemaster:poison and back um just by virtue of the fact that you have to like climb through the innards
Gamemaster:of the Strider and past the piston room
Gamemaster:and past the silk curtain wall
Gamemaster:and all that kind of stuff.
Gamemaster:I don't see why not.
Anzu:Perfect.
Gamemaster:Yeah.
Anzu:Can you actually end the encounter that we're in by any chance?
Gamemaster:Yeah.
Anzu:I think it's just kind of messing with all my stuff.
Anzu:All right, let's cast Guidance.
Anzu:Let's give it to myself.
Anzu:And then I'll make an Occultism check.
Anzu:I should apply, right?
Gamemaster:You should get a plus one status bonus.
Anzu:Yeah, it was off, but I turned it on.
Gamemaster:29?
Gamemaster:29.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:29. Okay. So, I don't think Anzu has ever needed to exercise this particular part of his psychic
Anzu:Yes.
Gamemaster:abilities before, especially given that it's been a pretty straight road once he first awoke to
Gamemaster:these abilities, to kind of fighting with them. So he hasn't really had much of an opportunity
Gamemaster:to lean into the other bits of being a psychic,
Gamemaster:into intruding upon the minds of things,
Gamemaster:not in a combat way,
Gamemaster:but in kind of an information-gathering way.
Gamemaster:So he's flying, flying, he's a bird,
Gamemaster:a little bit blind here,
Gamemaster:in terms of he has a lot of experience
Gamemaster:from seeing the rest of his family work in this particular field,
Gamemaster:and there's a lot of academic information he has
Gamemaster:that is coming up against lack of field experience
Gamemaster:and trying to make up for that.
Gamemaster:I mean, at this point, level eight,
Gamemaster:Anzu has seen some shit.
Gamemaster:So it's not like he's starting from nothing.
Gamemaster:He has a pretty good natural grasp
Gamemaster:just from fighting on how it works.
Gamemaster:This is a little bit out of his wheelhouse.
Gamemaster:It's more in his wheelhouse than any of his companions,
Gamemaster:but he's still setting stuff up.
Gamemaster:And so the act of trying to figure out a defense here comes partially in trying to see if there some way that he can either meditate in such a fashion to kind of put up a wall from an outside influence or something of that nature and perhaps even leaning a little bit on the Voidsong that been rattling around in his head for more than half a year at this point
Gamemaster:and seeing if that provides some sort of defense.
Gamemaster:But ultimately, with the 29, he does what he thinks he can,
Gamemaster:and Anzu feels as ready as he will be.
Gamemaster:He doesn't know if he's actually ready necessarily
Gamemaster:but I don't think he sees a way to improve
Gamemaster:his mental defenses any further
Gamemaster:before he starts to dive into the sleeping form
Gamemaster:of one of these 700-year-old things
Gamemaster:that have been stuck around in the Strider for so long.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Gamemaster:mind in one second. Any attempt to counteract an effect of your choice?
Johnny:I'm just over here aiding Anzu.
Gamemaster:Opposing, fleeing, frightened, or stupefied. Oh, at fourth level it also works on
Gamemaster:confused, controlled, and slowed. Absolutely.
Gamemaster:Okay, sure.
Johnny:Actually, before we do this, I will summon Mythic Power.
Gamemaster:Okay Yeah actually before we do this it would be useful for me to just have a little bit of accounting here How many mythic points does everybody have Okay
Johnny:So I have two Mythic Points.
Benny:Zero 0
Anzu:Thank you I just pumped myself up to two with the summon mythic power as well
Benny:Silence.
Gamemaster:Absolutely.
Gamemaster:Just good to keep in mind
Benny:you want me to just dance around and try to get a mythic point
Gamemaster:in case it's important. It might not be.
Gamemaster:Who knows?
Gamemaster:Um...
Johnny:I'm aiding for whatever's happening.
Anzu:Right.
Gamemaster:Yeah, nobody heard what you said.
Benny:it's not going to be hard to hit Anzu
Benny:it's not going to be hard to hit Anzu
Benny:i don't need a mythic
Anzu:Right.
Johnny:Oh, I have a heroism, but it's a status buff.
Anzu:All right.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Johnny:Heroism doesn't stack with guidance.
Johnny:I cast heroism on the bird.
Benny:If you're enfeebling him, I'm getting him to one hit point.
Johnny:One sec, I'll give you heroism.
Gamemaster:All right.
Gamemaster:You have a plus one bonus to attacks, perception checks, saving throws, and skill checks.
Johnny:Steve it out
Anzu:Dude.
Johnny:drop it
Gamemaster:Anything else you would like to do?
Benny:I'm joking.
Gamemaster:Well, yeah, okay.
Benny:Oh, right.
Gamemaster:So you guys should be positioning yourselves somewhat here.
Gamemaster:pick a vat of whoever you want to
Gamemaster:to try and
Gamemaster:delve into
Gamemaster:and you have to be within some feet of it
Gamemaster:no all the creatures are the same
Anzu:Dude, the creatures down here
Johnny:If I aiding him Josh if I aiding should I roll the aid check now He stands on his shoulders
Anzu:it look different from the creatures up here Alright then we going to go down here
Gamemaster:Uh, yeah.
Gamemaster:Benny, you can't stand on top of Anzu.
Anzu:Where am I?
Johnny:I got two messages.
Anzu:Oh, he's juking me.
Anzu:He's juking.
Anzu:trying to peck him. Can't get him.
Benny:he's like those goats at goat yoga they just jump on you and then just jump off
Gamemaster:45
Johnny:I'm going to re-roll.
Benny:like it's parkour
Johnny:An insane amount of aid.
Anzu:Holy crap.
Gamemaster:one second
Anzu:That's
Anzu:not even legal, I don't think. That's not regulation.
Gamemaster:a 45
Anzu:holy moly
Johnny:In case you get a plump to whatever you do.
Gamemaster:is just barely a critical success
Anzu:so
Anzu:so what do I do now Josh
Benny:We're dead.
Gamemaster:Okay, you have all of the stuff stacked on top as best you can.
Benny:We're fucking dead.
Gamemaster:You are in the right headspace to try and delve into the mind of one of these creatures.
Gamemaster:I'm going to need three things from you.
Anzu:Oh no.
Gamemaster:I need yet another occultism check.
Gamemaster:I need a will save.
Gamemaster:and then I need a diplomacy check.
Anzu:Okay.
Anzu:Can I ask one more question?
Gamemaster:Yeah.
Anzu:If I expend a spell slot to cast perhaps Soothe,
Anzu:As I'm making a connection with this creature, can that help me with any of that?
Gamemaster:Mm-hmm.
Gamemaster:Who are you soothing?
Anzu:The creature as like part of my connection with it, can that maybe help with the...
Anzu:Do I...
Anzu:Well, I don't want to wake it up, but I'm wondering...
Johnny:Anyway, Anzu, take my glasses of sociability.
Anzu:Wondering if that will make it feel good and maybe help me with the diplomacy.
Gamemaster:Yeah, I think the answer here is the creature is not what you're making the diplomacy check against.
Anzu:Okay, that's really fair.
Anzu:That's so fair.
Johnny:They'll give you a plus one to diplomacy.
Gamemaster:I think Anzu doesn't know he needs to make a diplomacy check until after he started the checks,
Gamemaster:so it is too late for you to start giving him items.
Anzu:Yeah, that's fair.
Johnny:Never mind.
Johnny:Aids.
Anzu:Okay.
Anzu:Okay, so I'm going to make the occultism check first.
Gamemaster:Yes, it is in that order.
Anzu:And...
Anzu:Okay, so this will get the aid from Johnny.
Gamemaster:Occultism, then will save, then diplomacy check.
Anzu:Okay.
Anzu:the diplomacy could use some help
Gamemaster:You can...
Gamemaster:So you can choose which of these three checks you want the ape to apply to.
Johnny:Uh, a.
Gamemaster:Because he is aiding the process.
Gamemaster:So you can pick one of the three checks and then apply to it.
Johnny:8.
Gamemaster:You can choose...
Anzu:so
Johnny:Circumstance.
Anzu:alright
Gamemaster:Yeah, you have to choose, though, before you roll.
Johnny:Circumstance.
Anzu:we're not going to put the aid on the occultism
Anzu:in that case
Anzu:so I'll roll that
Gamemaster:Okay.
Johnny:Okay.
Anzu:I need to mythic pool.
Johnny:chance.
Anzu:Okay.
Anzu:Roll a bigger number.
Anzu:It rolled the same number.
Anzu:Ugh, that's gonna fail.
Benny:Thank you you All right all right all right
Gamemaster:No.
Anzu:Um.
Anzu:No.
Gamemaster:No.
Anzu:Sometimes it rolls worse.
Johnny:I feel like often it rolls the same or worse.
Anzu:All right, don't do that.
Johnny:Oh, I thought that was him!
Anzu:You're taking my rolls.
Anzu:That was my next roll in the generator Okay next I going to make a will save That decent That decent And then we
Gamemaster:That's true.
Gamemaster:That how that works Thank you Mm Are you put Okay Absolutely yes
Johnny:It just winds up Okay
Anzu:make diplomacy with a plus three circumstance due to aid. Right?
Johnny:Yeah, it's on there.
Anzu:The heroism should be applying.
Anzu:I'm probably not going to do much better than that.
Anzu:Uh, actually...
Anzu:I'm only trained.
Anzu:So it's not that, actually that hard to do better than that, huh?
Johnny:I mean, if you have the mythic point...
Gamemaster:Okay.
Anzu:Oh, I'm going to roll lower, but we're going to do it anyway.
Anzu:Yeah, that's so tough.
Gamemaster:Unfortunate.
Gamemaster:Alrighty.
Anzu:All right, Josh, those are my rolls.
Gamemaster:Alrighty.
Anzu:I don't really like any of them, but that's where we're at.
Gamemaster:A 31, a 31, and a 27.
Anzu:Did they point bad?
Benny:Overrated.
Gamemaster:Mm-hmm.
Gamemaster:But a different die.
Gamemaster:What?
Benny:Okay.
Anzu:Carry on.
Gamemaster:Mm, possibly.
Gamemaster:I mean, listen, if you guys are actually disappointed in it,
Gamemaster:we could consider going to a world
Gamemaster:where we go back to the old Mythic Point rules,
Gamemaster:which is instead of it increasing your proficiency,
Anzu:No I think that this is fun Today was just not a good showing
Gamemaster:it just guarantees you get at least a 10 But Hmm
Gamemaster:Yeah, that's definitely not happening.
Gamemaster:We could also have a world where you choose
Gamemaster:either roll with increased proficiency
Gamemaster:or guarantee a 10.
Gamemaster:I'll have to think about that.
Gamemaster:Either way, for right now,
Gamemaster:Anzu,
Gamemaster:You are prepared as best you can.
Benny:Спасибо.
Gamemaster:Your friends, perhaps wielding weapons at the moment, are surrounding you as you choose to delve into the mind of this creature.
Gamemaster:There is...
Gamemaster:Okay. Okay.
Gamemaster:You reach out your mind to the sleeping creatures and try to pierce into it to see what's happening in there.
Benny:Продолжение следует...
Gamemaster:What could possibly be bouncing around in the mind of this creature dormant for so long?
Gamemaster:And you're not doing mind reading, per se.
Gamemaster:You're not trying to pull out individual thoughts and see what it's thinking.
Gamemaster:you're kind of trying to latch on to
Gamemaster:at this point any foreign
Benny:Продолжение следует...
Gamemaster:influences because
Gamemaster:if your theory is correct
Gamemaster:if there is a Herald song
Gamemaster:or something of that nature
Gamemaster:this might be a way to hear it
Gamemaster:your mind as shielded
Gamemaster:as you think you can get it
Gamemaster:you reach out and it's just
Gamemaster:a matter of
Gamemaster:just a matter of
Gamemaster:parting
Gamemaster:the curtain here It is easier than I think Anzu would have originally imagined to peek into this creature mind into its psyche You would have expected more resistance than you got But it just a matter of reaching out and pushing past an almost token
Gamemaster:amount of resistance. Another thing I think Anzu didn't necessarily expect is, I don't know how
Gamemaster:Anzu would have envisioned what this process would look like, but I think he would have
Gamemaster:most heard it described from his family as akin to reading a book. You don't get to, like,
Gamemaster:see through their eyes or anything like that. It's more that the surface of the mind is,
Gamemaster:actually, if anything, it's closest to a radio play, would be the best way of putting it,
Gamemaster:of something that you're listening to,
Gamemaster:which makes more sense in the context of a lot of magic on Færrin
Gamemaster:is very sound-based, is very harmony-based.
Gamemaster:And it feels like the process of listening to something.
Gamemaster:That is not the experience that Anzu gets,
Gamemaster:peeling back the curtain and trying to peer into this creature's mind.
Gamemaster:It maybe starts out that way.
Gamemaster:There is, as he starts to push in,
Gamemaster:there is this feeling of hearing something on the edge of the edge of his senses uh not quite
Gamemaster:close enough for him to resolve any of it into words or into notes or something like that but it
Gamemaster:is mumbled and muffled enough that there is clearly some kind of word exchange going on
Gamemaster:something happening in the mind of the slumbering creature there is something active there um
Gamemaster:with no real way to know the origin of it.
Gamemaster:And so Anzu pushes further in,
Gamemaster:trying to get closer to the sound of the signal,
Gamemaster:trying to get more of a bead on it.
Gamemaster:And that is when this flip occurs.
Gamemaster:It is as if he falls through the curtain that he peeled back.
Gamemaster:into this creature's mind, and you find that it's not just your hearing, but also your other senses.
Gamemaster:There is this twinge for a second, despite the fact that you are inside the strider and have
Gamemaster:been for a few hours now, filled with stagnant air and the sound of the legs of the strider
Gamemaster:pounding on the ground every six seconds, the smell of oil and too hot air as it gets recirculated.
Gamemaster:there is a moment where you feel this almost cool breeze uh and you could swear there's this kind of
Gamemaster:superposition going on you know inherently that you are down in this area around lifeline in this
Gamemaster:not hospital um but there is super imposed on that like you're almost seeing double uh
Gamemaster:you are standing at first you think on top of the strider because it is this open plane
Gamemaster:but as you look around you can see that this is not a moving open plane.
Johnny:Okay.
Gamemaster:This is, if anything, an actual plane.
Gamemaster:The grass here is interesting.
Gamemaster:It isn't quite the color, the shade that you remember grass being.
Gamemaster:There's something slightly bluish-tealish to the tinge that you don't quite expect.
Gamemaster:And the air tastes differently to what you remember.
Gamemaster:You don't realize it until you experience something different, but there is a smell to open air.
Gamemaster:Your planet smells like something that your brain just tunes out over time because that's where you've lived your whole life.
Gamemaster:You just know what air smells like, and then that becomes the baseline.
Gamemaster:And so when air smells different, when it has a different mixture of oxygen and carbon and nitrogen and all of the little trace gases,
Gamemaster:If it just slightly off there nothing direct that you can place there except that it smells wrong And it does It smells wrong This is a view of somewhere that despite looking completely normal is different from what you
Gamemaster:know. And that becomes exacerbated even more as you push further into the mind, drawn forward,
Gamemaster:trying to hear that weird harmony at the edge of your senses. And it is as you get closer to
Gamemaster:whatever that source is as you dive deeper into this creature's mind. It is a harmony. It is a
Gamemaster:sound. It is not quite the Voidsong you remember. It is different. The Voidsong, upon hearing this
Gamemaster:comparison, is a lot more... commanding is the wrong term. Insistent is a better term. The Void
Gamemaster:Song is insistent. It is pushing you, pleading with you, asking you to do something, even if
Gamemaster:that something is never resolved. This harmony is altogether more friendly, is the best way of
Gamemaster:putting it. It is welcoming. It is softer. It is gentler. It's not asking you to do anything.
Gamemaster:It's just kind of asking you to listen. And it's hard not to. It is welcoming. It's bringing you
Gamemaster:and just sitting there listening to it
Gamemaster:would recall memories to Anzu
Gamemaster:of when the family first got a radio
Gamemaster:and everybody kind of sat around the radio
Gamemaster:and listened to it.
Gamemaster:A family moment that maybe Anzu
Gamemaster:didn't get to experience much of
Gamemaster:given how busy everybody was.
Gamemaster:It pulls up childhood memories
Gamemaster:that aren't necessarily music-related
Gamemaster:but are happy,
Gamemaster:are like pieces of his childhood,
Gamemaster:pieces of, perhaps even more recently,
Gamemaster:pieces after meeting up with this new group,
Gamemaster:this new party,
Gamemaster:the half a year that you've been adventuring together,
Gamemaster:the small bits where you don feel like you harried and fighting for your life The little intermediate bits And this harmony is just those bits forever
Gamemaster:It just feels like contentedness.
Gamemaster:On and on and on.
Gamemaster:There is something, there is an undercurrent there, though.
Gamemaster:It's, the harmony itself is just gentle.
Gamemaster:but there's something underlying it, this kind of beating heart, the percussion.
Gamemaster:It's a complete song.
Gamemaster:That's the other strange thing.
Gamemaster:It has been one particular set of notes, maybe expanded out over different octaves,
Gamemaster:but it's always felt like a singer to Anzu.
Gamemaster:It's always felt like one thing is emitting it.
Gamemaster:this song is more.
Anzu:Okay.
Gamemaster:There is the harmony, but there's also
Gamemaster:a beat underlying it.
Gamemaster:There are other,
Gamemaster:not quite instruments, but
Gamemaster:other components
Gamemaster:of it
Gamemaster:that kind of add together.
Gamemaster:I'm going to allow Anzu to attempt
Gamemaster:once a will save
Gamemaster:at this point.
Anzu:Um, I'm just trying to think.
Gamemaster:Tell me what you would do and I'll let you know.
Anzu:Um, I don't know if I'm allowed to act in any other capacity.
Anzu:Um.
Anzu:Anzu wants to try and feel the...
Anzu:Like on a sort of mathematical level the difference between the two harmonies Maybe like what the word Resonate And try to really feel the Voidsong for a moment
Gamemaster:Mm I think the harmony would probably let you do that
Anzu:and try to like hear both
Anzu:and try to understand the difference.
Gamemaster:That's acceptable.
Gamemaster:I still do need you to make the will save though
Anzu:Yeah.
Benny:That was a big good look.
Johnny:Josh, is this a mental effect?
Anzu:totally fair
Anzu:totally fair
Anzu:oh god
Anzu:I used all my points
Anzu:so many sevens
Anzu:why so many sevens
Anzu:that's really bad
Anzu:that's so bad
Gamemaster:yes
Gamemaster:this is a mental effect
Gamemaster:a 23 is absolutely a failure
Johnny:Is that a failure?
Gamemaster:yes
Benny:It rerolls with another circumstance, but I guess it just rerolled.
Johnny:Oh, you're such a disgrace.
Anzu:What do I do?
Gamemaster:an ally with 30 feet
Gamemaster:fails a will saving throw
Gamemaster:against a mental effect
Gamemaster:yet
Johnny:With a plus one circumstance.
Gamemaster:you reroll with a plus one circumstance
Gamemaster:bonus and use the higher result
Gamemaster:absolutely I
Johnny:Johnny, seeing that something's happening to Anzu, will open his mouth, and instead of any words coming out, it's just a verbal eruption of the Voidsong.
Johnny:He's got it.
Anzu:It sounds like .
Gamemaster:I will say at this point the thing that triggers Johnny into knowing that he failed to save is you
Gamemaster:can see visibly Anzu has started to become a little bit slack draw his eyes have gone completely
Gamemaster:glassy and I don't think you have a... okay
Johnny:He's got it.
Anzu:Oh!
Gamemaster:a 33 plus one for disgraceful
Anzu:Much better.
Gamemaster:Um, okay.
Gamemaster:Johnny sees Anzu starting to fade a little bit.
Gamemaster:He can't actually participate in it,
Gamemaster:but something about his declaration
Gamemaster:of how much Anzu is a disgrace
Gamemaster:gives Anzu that little extra push he needs
Gamemaster:to attempt to receive, and he gets a 33.
Gamemaster:I will say, Anzu, with the 33,
Gamemaster:you attempt to resonate.
Gamemaster:you attempt to
Gamemaster:figure out the difference
Gamemaster:between
Gamemaster:between the harmony that you're currently
Gamemaster:hearing and the Voidsong
Gamemaster:and
Gamemaster:it is that
Gamemaster:like mechanical act
Gamemaster:the act of trying to abstract away
Gamemaster:what you're hearing and view it a bit more
Gamemaster:dispassionately as well as an
Gamemaster:insult from your friend
Gamemaster:that allows you to just
Gamemaster:barely pull back. I think it clears your mind a little bit. The plane that you're on, this
Gamemaster:extended grassy plane, at first, when you were just listening to the harmony, when you were just
Gamemaster:following it, you didn't really stop and look around, because that wasn't the point of you
Gamemaster:delving in, but you pull back a little bit and you look around and you can see that you aren't
Gamemaster:actually in. You aren't actually on a plane. You aren't on this grassy plane.
Benny:Thank you you But you didn notice the guy in the corner
Gamemaster:Or the plane is there. You are standing in it, but the grass is aflame. The whole area
Gamemaster:is aflame. It is covered
Gamemaster:in these deep
Gamemaster:orange and red and
Gamemaster:almost black cord
Gamemaster:fires spread throughout Can I get a perception check please Yes because you are the one in the mind
Johnny:you Say it out loud
Anzu:From myself Yeah Yes of course
Anzu:Yes, of course.
Anzu:Bad.
Gamemaster:Okay. With a 20, you get some stuff because it's obvious. You don't get everything. From a 20,
Benny:...
Benny:...
Benny:...
Anzu:What's your armor class?
Gamemaster:Um, the things that stand out to you are as such.
Gamemaster:There are two that you get on a 20 on a failure.
Gamemaster:The first is in the direction you're looking past the flames, past the sudden inferno that
Gamemaster:has engulfed this area that you're in all the way in the distance is something that
Gamemaster:is familiar to you.
Gamemaster:When you first dreamt of the Voidsong, there was this imagery that came with it that kind
Gamemaster:of quickly left your head in the way that most dreams do, of a river passing through a plain
Gamemaster:of some kind and off in the distance a city with strange architecture. Too far away for you to
Gamemaster:actually make out much details from, but it definitely didn't describe anywhere that you
Gamemaster:were familiar with. It had strange angles to the buildings. The buildings were in some cases
Gamemaster:skyscraper-like, but twisted at weird angles and bent in ways that you wouldn't expect construction
Gamemaster:to be. It was almost organic in a way, but not quite. It shimmered with this light where the
Gamemaster:suns hit it, as there are suns in the vision. And despite the fact that it left your head after you
Gamemaster:first heard the Voidsong, you see it again here in this vision. You recognize it, that city
Gamemaster:off in the distance.
Gamemaster:Weird angles, yellow roofs,
Gamemaster:non-Euclidean, almost, in architecture.
Gamemaster:The other thing you notice something that you hadn originally seen before is the horizon around you has these massive creatures standing on the edge of it
Gamemaster:As if you're in a diorama, a small-Scale model, and there are creatures that built the model looking down on it from above.
Gamemaster:There are six creatures looking down on it from above.
Benny:.
Gamemaster:Around you, in no particular order, is a humanoid figure, no face, just covered in shadow,
Gamemaster:wearing a crown and another crown on top of that one and another on top of that one
Gamemaster:in this kind of gaudy facsimile of a king of kings.
Gamemaster:and next to them is a strange humanoid creature with multiple arms at odd angles with too many
Gamemaster:joints holding a Scale and a bird's egg and a crystal orb and a wand and all number of spell
Gamemaster:components and focuses similarly face hidden although one green glowing eye sticking out of
Gamemaster:this strange hood that they're wearing. Next to them is two creatures, or one creature with two
Gamemaster:upper torsos. The bottom is standard legs, although that waist gets close to the horizon,
Gamemaster:but the top is two upper torsos that split off of the waist, each holding a sword,
Gamemaster:impaling the other, locked in some kind of battle. Next to them is something that you have seen once
Gamemaster:although you didn't quite get as good a look at it.
Gamemaster:A creature yet taller than the rest,
Gamemaster:wearing these strange robes and with these horns
Gamemaster:sticking out of the top of its forehead.
Gamemaster:Next to that is the most unassuming of the creatures This as best you can tell appears to be a relatively nondescript human
Gamemaster:But with your save, you keep looking and you can see that that human has mandibles instead of its jaw, where it's split and it is currently playing a horn of some kind.
Gamemaster:And next to that, the source of this flame that engulfs all of it, a charred hunk of ash in the shape of a person, what looks to be almost tied to a stake of some kind, engulfed in flame and raining the flame down on the rest of the world that you're in.
Gamemaster:uh this appears to be the world that this song is manifesting in this creature uh
Gamemaster:you get the point that you get the feeling that if you stay you might be able to pull
Gamemaster:more information especially things that would be especially useful sorry useful for
Gamemaster:um staving off the influence of this uh now that you've experienced it at least a little bit and
Gamemaster:only barely regained your consciousness. But you do know that if you stay and try to pull
Gamemaster:more info out of it, there's a much higher chance that you won't be able to willingly leave.
Gamemaster:It is a gamble you take.
Anzu:you have to
Anzu:wrestle with
Anzu:the logical choice and the character choice
Gamemaster:Hmm.
Anzu:I think
Anzu:Anzu feels like he has learned something.
Anzu:So I think I need to just take the win.
Gamemaster:He definitely has.
Anzu:I think he felt the wavering success that he had.
Gamemaster:Hmm.
Anzu:And he'll pull back.
Gamemaster:Absolutely.
Gamemaster:You stop focusing on the mind of this creature,
Gamemaster:and you pull yourself out.
Gamemaster:I am going to need one last will save here as a basic will save against the rebound of leaving this creature's mind.
Anzu:There we go.
Gamemaster:Let's see if this works.
Anzu:31.
Gamemaster:you will take half of that mental damage.
Anzu:Whoopsie.
Gamemaster:And you are free.
Gamemaster:I will also note,
Gamemaster:as you pull yourself free,
Gamemaster:the creature itself,
Gamemaster:their skull just caves in.
Gamemaster:Absolutely.
Johnny:Catch your mind.
Anzu:I like fall onto my butt.
Anzu:Kind of let out a wince.
Gamemaster:So you make a counteract check?
Gamemaster:Make a counteract check.
Gamemaster:Yep.
Gamemaster:Do you actually have to choose specifically that it controlled Thank you Yeah basically
Anzu:Yeah yeah
Gamemaster:It's just your, like, plus 16 to your spells.
Gamemaster:Yep.
Gamemaster:32.
Gamemaster:With a 32, it is difficult to know if you actually dispelled anything, which could either
Gamemaster:be there wasn't anything to dispel or that wasn't strong enough to dispel it.
Benny:What was the password?
Johnny:Are you all right?
Anzu:Yeah, I'm okay. I had to pull out before it got too dangerous.
Anzu:What I saw was kind of insane.
Anzu:I saw the six evil beings all overlooking this realm.
Anzu:Yes.
Gamemaster:I'm so sorry, I do need to interrupt for a second because it's something I meant to say and I forgot,
Gamemaster:mostly because it's been a peeve of mine.
Anzu:Yes.
Gamemaster:The whole point of the song here is kind of to bring you into the fold,
Gamemaster:and as part of that, I had mentioned that there were words beyond the harmony.
Gamemaster:You didn't roll high enough to hear most of the lyrics.
Gamemaster:The only bit with a 20 that you would have been able to pull out is ashen-packed
Gamemaster:over and over and over and over again.
Johnny:you I mean the Ashen Pact is pretty cool
Gamemaster:She putting that out there You can continue to call them that You can continue to call them that
Gamemaster:That's fine.
Gamemaster:You called him the feet for God knows how long.
Gamemaster:I'm just putting that out there.
Johnny:Cool.
Benny:Josh, can you give me a written descriptor
Johnny:I'm going to update my notes.
Anzu:You wake up and you can't shake the name Ted out of your mind.
Gamemaster:Campaign 4 starts out session zero.
Gamemaster:Hello, I am evil, here is my name.
Gamemaster:And then he disappears, and that's just how it starts.
Gamemaster:Yep.
Gamemaster:Yeah, I can type that up, that's fine.
Benny:at your convenience of all six of them?
Benny:I want I want it for nefarious purposes just to be clear okay
Johnny:Just to recap.
Johnny:It's going to be the Heen versus the Ashen Packs.
Anzu:Uh-oh.
Gamemaster:Okay, yeah, that's fine.
Anzu:Oh, the yin is getting...
Benny:no I thought of it I thought of a dumb nickname and I want to AI generate it
Anzu:He's getting taken over.
Johnny:Jeez.
Anzu:Very well.
Gamemaster:Of course.
Gamemaster:Yeah, I will write up a description for nefarious purposes, that's fine.
Benny:nice okay
Johnny:So just to recap a little,
Gamemaster:Sorry to interrupt.
Johnny:to recap what Anzu saw,
Johnny:it was the field that we saw when we heard the Voidsong,
Benny:crazy city
Johnny:but it was on fire.
Johnny:And he got a better look at the city in the distance, which is a totally normal city and
Anzu:They're like watching over it.
Gamemaster:That's probably, like, a pretty good assumption, yeah.
Johnny:one that we don't know about.
Gamemaster:Yeah.
Benny:also the
Benny:the Herald was described as a
Benny:nondescript person at first
Benny:glance
Benny:we see average shows all the time We might have seen one on the Strider
Gamemaster:Yes, that is a good catch.
Gamemaster:That Herald was, at first glance, described as just an average Joe.
Johnny:We happen to know a very We know an average Joe just hanging around
Anzu:Hmm I don know
Gamemaster:but because of the will save he could peer through a little bit and see that there were some details that were off
Benny:Sound like a big fan of this
Johnny:Yeah.
Anzu:No.
Gamemaster:Okay, if you guys are going ahead with poisoning the rest of the creatures in this area, you've
Benny:Complimentary
Anzu:No.
Anzu:It's just crazy.
Anzu:Yeah, we could do that.
Anzu:Yeah.
Gamemaster:already gone through all of the work of securing the venom, so it's easy enough to go to one
Gamemaster:of the intake ports and just inject it in.
Anzu:That's thinking with portals.
Gamemaster:So you are... if you want you can make... I need a crafting check here to try and
Gamemaster:disconnect these areas if you want to try and save some of the like diluted
Benny:it's levels by and yeah I probably exists
Gamemaster:glowing blue liquid in it.
Gamemaster:Okay, absolutely, you can do that.
Benny:oh yeah
Anzu:Well, then let's not dote on this any longer.
Gamemaster:Um, alrighty.
Gamemaster:So you inject the poison.
Gamemaster:It is...
Gamemaster:Sorry.
Gamemaster:I don't think that there's much here to imply that these guys are necessarily unholy. The
Gamemaster:in that area were, and only the things that you fought here didn't seem to be.
Gamemaster:Also, I was trying to find it.
Gamemaster:I could have sworn that there was an overlapping effects or combining potions rule, but I couldn't
Gamemaster:find it.
Gamemaster:I might be remembering a 5e thing, or maybe a homebrew thing.
Gamemaster:Either way.
Gamemaster:so yeah so you inject the poison
Gamemaster:in there and you
Gamemaster:it's an almost immediate reaction
Gamemaster:the speed at the liquid inside of these
Gamemaster:vats was due to like
Gamemaster:laminar flow and stuff it wasn't pretty easy
Gamemaster:to see the actual movement
Gamemaster:and it very quickly
Gamemaster:fills each of the tanks here
Gamemaster:including the big one with the heart at the top
Gamemaster:and after only a few short
Gamemaster:seconds you can see that the
Gamemaster:skin of these creatures starts to
Gamemaster:rot. They jerk a little bit before
Gamemaster:falling still again,
Gamemaster:and you are pretty confident that you have
Gamemaster:killed everything in here.
Gamemaster:The machine god
Gamemaster:will respond. I appreciate
Gamemaster:you putting one
Gamemaster:of my comrades to rest.
Gamemaster:I will begin taking over
Gamemaster:the lanty called
Gamemaster:home. There is
Gamemaster:a very, very faint shift in the fame that you're in.
Gamemaster:It hasn't quite fully moved over yet.
Gamemaster:He'll work on it.
Gamemaster:But he's started the process.
Johnny:Thank you you or
Gamemaster:OK.
Gamemaster:So are you trying to get things off of the bodies themselves,
Gamemaster:or are you just trying to extract the liquid out
Gamemaster:of the tanks?
Gamemaster:OK.
Gamemaster:Oh absolutely I mean you can roll here a perception check to search through to see if there anything off of them that you can use for your heart That totally fine
Benny:you All right
Gamemaster:Even with a 33, I will say most of the creatures here, the ones that you fought at least, are
Johnny:I also like to perceive.
Johnny:I hope I won't get better than that. That was a really good rule. I didn't get better.
Gamemaster:just kind of hunks of meat and blood and gore at this point.
Gamemaster:They did not really carry magical implements and stuff on them.
Gamemaster:I don't think with a 33 you feel there's much here in the way of magic power.
Gamemaster:A lot of it is consolidated in the heart and the liquid.
Gamemaster:That's fair.
Gamemaster:Okay, you guys, you know where this is.
Benny:Oh.
Anzu:Why not?
Gamemaster:If for whatever reason you want to come back here, it's not going anywhere.
Gamemaster:You can head back to your lift up.
Gamemaster:Actually, I would love...
Gamemaster:Can I get a survival check, please?
Anzu:All right.
Gamemaster:You don't have to if you don't want to.
Benny:Oh.
Gamemaster:And that's where the natural 20 is.
Gamemaster:I will give you more than normal information
Gamemaster:on a natural 20 for a 33 crit.
Gamemaster:You're navigating around with your built-in navigation
Gamemaster:that is the machine heart telling you which way to go
Gamemaster:and all that kind of stuff.
Gamemaster:But Anzu, in general, happens to be pretty handy with directions
Gamemaster:and gets a pretty good idea where you're moving around.
Gamemaster:With that crit, I think from this point,
Gamemaster:there are two interesting notes two routes that you have from this point you pretty sure that you could find your way to and that are specifically the lifts that go up to the garages underneath the Pale Lantern Society and Amper Calls Bases
Gamemaster:both of which are relatively close by to here, and you're pretty confident you can navigate back there without issue in the future.
Anzu:I feel like the machine god said
Gamemaster:the last time you spoke to the machine god the he said that the only people he had seen that were
Anzu:that he hasn't seen that yet.
Gamemaster:like actively delving into the undercroft of the strider uh was the Iridescent Church
Gamemaster:that said positionally this thing happens to be directly between uh the palandrin society and
Gamemaster:Amber call.
Johnny:Seems.
Johnny:to call on our part
Gamemaster:You did not.
Gamemaster:And
Gamemaster:it is
Gamemaster:something to be said, since you guys
Gamemaster:chose to go after the sleeping group
Gamemaster:first over here, it is possible
Gamemaster:that you got to it before they had a chance to learn
Gamemaster:about it.
Gamemaster:I mean, it's not like you guys brought a bunch of, like, jerry cans with you here, or buckets.
Benny:Buckets
Anzu:I have a water skin.
Benny:But we do have jerry cans
Benny:Yes
Gamemaster:Yeah, like, you can head back and take your jerry cans and empty them out of the gasoline
Gamemaster:and fill it up with this liquid instead if you wanted to.
Gamemaster:That is an option.
Gamemaster:Yeah, you just, at the moment, you guys don't, like,
Gamemaster:I will give you like two vials of the stuff if you walking around with that kind of stuff If you wanted any actual like volume amount to take back you have to head back home and like get the proper implements to to do that
Benny:Thank you Well can we use the water skins
Johnny:you Turn it up
Gamemaster:On making a bucket?
Gamemaster:Like a...
Gamemaster:Potashvat's Perfect Pocket. Um...
Gamemaster:Uh...
Benny:We can give that to twins instead of two vials.
Gamemaster:No, like yes, you could fill up your water skins if you like.
Gamemaster:You have enough room in your water skin for, I don't know how much, one water skin's worth of this liquid each.
Benny:Mm hmm.
Gamemaster:Sure, that's fine if you want.
Gamemaster:Like that's no check necessary.
Gamemaster:You could just go up to the valve and fill up your water skins with it and go a little bit thirsty on your truck back.
Benny:Yeah.
Anzu:Or go home.
Gamemaster:Okay, is there anything else you'd like to do or would you like to head back?
Gamemaster:Okay, then you go home.
Gamemaster:No check necessary since you have GPS.
Gamemaster:And as you make your way back, you guys can discuss if you like, but no more events will
Gamemaster:be happening as it is 11 o'clock and we will pick that up next Saturday.
Gamemaster:if that's amenable to everyone else.
Benny:for
Benny:for Machine God
Benny:when he's answering like our queries
Benny:on like where to go is it like a background
Benny:task for him or does he have to be like these
Benny:fucking guys are calling me yeah I know it's
Benny:a left no you went too far
Gamemaster:Do you ask him that? No, he needs to devote the smallest amount of
Benny:you have to go back
Benny:yeah yeah
Benny:okay
Benny:yeah
Gamemaster:processing power to direct you in that way. I think Benny would probably have a
Gamemaster:good idea of that anyway given that he's interacted with his dad a ton and his
Gamemaster:dad is multitasking on like 40 different things
Benny:that's interesting so follow-up times that we've talked to machine god in the past
Gamemaster:at any given moment, and the machine god is with no particular disrespect to Autumn,
Gamemaster:like, years ahead in terms of capabilities just by virtue of his make.
Benny:or other hearts
Benny:where we think we've said something interesting,
Benny:would Benny have a better intuition
Gamemaster:I would
Benny:on if the heart is putting more focus
Benny:on a particular topic?
Benny:Like if we ask about something
Benny:that piques its interest,
Benny:would Benny be able to retroactively think like,
Gamemaster:I would probably
Benny:they were focusing actually really hard
Benny:when we asked about that.
Gamemaster:Benny has a lifetime of experience
Gamemaster:which is not that many years
Gamemaster:of reading
Gamemaster:like of reading the one heart
Benny:Fair enough.
Gamemaster:that he is intimately familiar with
Gamemaster:and what he cares about and all of that kind of stuff.
Anzu:the vocalist protects
Gamemaster:I think he definitely has a bonus to it.
Gamemaster:I don't think it's guaranteed that he would be like, oh, you know.
Gamemaster:But I think he definitely has an advantage there over other people
Gamemaster:given how often he has worked with the Heart.
Gamemaster:But yeah.
Gamemaster:You guys did it.
Gamemaster:That was a little touch and go for a bit there.
Benny:Not even close.
Gamemaster:Not even close?
Benny:Not even close.
Gamemaster:Two. Two. There were two actions left.
Benny:Even Benny rolling like shit.
Johnny:Yeah.
Anzu:How many actions were left on waking the heart?
Benny:Not even close.
Anzu:Wow.
Benny:Not even close.
Gamemaster:That was close.
Gamemaster:One second. Where is...
Johnny:Yeah.
Benny:Because then Benny would have started rolling well, and then it would have been over.
Gamemaster:I don know what you talking about
Johnny:I can believe that Jorge was right the whole time and that it old Thessio back there Well we only know two cities in yellow
Johnny:and one of them was on a moon that got
Johnny:blown up.
Gamemaster:I don't know what you're talking about.
Gamemaster:Yeah, so, you know,
Gamemaster:I have to type up the descriptions
Benny:What's this hitting?
Johnny:God, they're pretty cool.
Anzu:They're a band.
Gamemaster:apparently but in general
Gamemaster:you got to see
Gamemaster:Pyre in that order
Gamemaster:for funsies
Gamemaster:yeah
Johnny:They're pretty scary looking.
Johnny:The Ashen Pact.
Johnny:I guess we have a name for them now.
Anzu:They have a whole song.
Anzu:They're a band.
Anzu:you guys remember the app
Johnny:They're a band.
Gamemaster:they're a band they have a whole song
Johnny:They're a real one-hit wonder.
Benny:Oh my god.
Anzu:my singing monsters by any chance
Anzu:that's them
Benny:Yeah.
Benny:I never played it, but I remember
Anzu:oh yeah I didn't really
Benny:people, I remember looking down on
Benny:people that were using it.
Anzu:I just knew about it too
Benny:Yeah, because it's dumb.
Benny:It's like, oh, this guy's got one leg
Benny:and a hairy eyeball, and he goes
Benny:on beat.
Anzu:Yeah, I know.
Benny:You add him to your band, and then
Benny:you got a guy that's like, yeah, yeah,
Benny:yeah, yeah. And he's got two jaws
Benny:and one makes one sound and the other makes the other pitch
Gamemaster:I can't believe you hit it with your beak attack.
Benny:and then you just fucking put them together
Johnny:Mike, it seems like you've played a lot of this game.
Benny:like a drum machine.
Anzu:Yeah.
Benny:Stupid.
Anzu:Well, I did 5 damage to Nyagok, so I think that probably would have been fine.
Benny:No, I played real drum machines for real men.
Benny:Like Easy Beats Pro Drum Machine
Benny:for the iPhone.
Benny:Which has not been updated in 12 years.
Johnny:Oh.
Johnny:Oh, it has a health bar.
Gamemaster:That's crazy.
Johnny:It has a health bar.
Benny:Oh as long as that the only thing that up I thought all of these would have woke up but that for sure a TPK
Johnny:Oh, no.
Gamemaster:It fine It dead He killed it
Johnny:you Yeah
Benny:Oh, as it has turns?
Gamemaster:Mm-hmm.
Benny:Yeah, we would have died.
Gamemaster:Yep.
Johnny:Yeah.
Gamemaster:Yeah, no, that would have been bad.
Benny:Wait, hold on.
Gamemaster:I would have tried to find a way to impose on you
Gamemaster:that that was the time to run
Gamemaster:if it wasn't already immediately obvious
Gamemaster:from the thing waking up
Gamemaster:and then all of the creatures starting to wake up as well.
Benny:What if,
Johnny:That would have been a full doomsday scenario.
Gamemaster:but that would have like fully been a TPK.
Johnny:That would have been so bad.
Benny:these things killed
Benny:whatever party Grayson sent down?
Benny:So we go back to Machine Gun and we're like,
Benny:yeah, I don't know. I mean, they were sleeping.
Benny:We didn't want to wake them. And he goes,
Benny:I know they're awake.
Benny:Grayson has sent a search party down and it's been
Benny:eliminated. This is the third one this week.
Benny:...
Benny:Have you guys noticed that Grayson's kind of like
Johnny:Thank you, man.
Gamemaster:Yeah, it could have been real bad.
Benny:got some weird worm
Benny:like arteries?
Benny:What are you talking about?
Benny:Forget it. Forget what I said.
Johnny:So bad.
Johnny:This could have gone so bad so fast.
Benny:...
Gamemaster:I think that the group intention as soon as they saw that the maid was going to try and wake the thing up that you all effectively focus fired on it until it died was was definitely the correct move there
Benny:I was thinking that in my head
Benny:I was like, we have to focus this.
Benny:And there's like maybe a 70% chance that it fully pays off.
Benny:And then, yeah.
Benny:Yeah.
Gamemaster:It's good though.
Gamemaster:Two cheese.
Johnny:The Machine God?
Anzu:I just
Anzu:I think that
Anzu:there may come a time for that
Anzu:I don't think we need to do it
Anzu:now
Anzu:right
Anzu:yeah
Johnny:I'm just worried they're going to go,
Johnny:Machine God, Aurelia, we got to go set up camp right now
Johnny:and they're going to move all their stuff down there
Anzu:True, they are fanatics about Aurelia.
Johnny:and take over.
Johnny:And they'll be like,
Johnny:this is ours now.
Johnny:So who is the Voidsong?
Johnny:Are they one of the slivers of...
Johnny:Aren't the things that created everything, aren't those the nothing fragments?
Gamemaster:The echo fragments of Formless.
Johnny:It could be a...
Johnny:Wasn't there a fragment of Formless?
Johnny:I feel like in the one shot where we were Thessians, wasn't one of the fragments of
Johnny:Formless at the center of the universe?
Gamemaster:Yes.
Gamemaster:there were three echo fragments
Gamemaster:there was one in Althane
Gamemaster:there was one that was being held onto by Torment
Gamemaster:the Thessalonians
Benny:So the echo...
Johnny:That's why no one can...
Gamemaster:and there was one in the center of the estra.
Johnny:That's why whenever...
Johnny:In all our troops, we looked at this thing,
Johnny:and then we all went,
Johnny:who's this?
Johnny:It's the Echo Fragment.
Johnny:I don't know where the rest of this...
Johnny:I don't know how the rest of this works,
Johnny:but the Sinister...
Johnny:The Ashen Pack figured out where Old Thessia is.
Johnny:They're trying to get in.
Johnny:This thing does not want that to happen.
Johnny:And so it's...
Johnny:I don't know what it's doing or why it's doing it,
Johnny:but that's as far as I got.
Benny:so
Johnny:Yeah.
Gamemaster:What's that Eric Andre meme?
Johnny:The lighthouse cracked the filament, which let the Ashen Pact go, zoop, for a minute.
Benny:the firmament
Benny:so what the echo fragment is within
Benny:the sphere and now
Benny:there's just six nutcases
Benny:banging on the fucking sphere
Benny:and the echo fragment
Johnny:Yeah.
Benny:please please help me
Benny:please
Johnny:Yeah.
Johnny:Why would we do this to ourselves?
Benny:oh let me in
Anzu:Oh, let me.
Benny:let me
Benny:no it's a
Johnny:It's both the Eric Andre music.
Johnny:It's Let Me In and also The Weft.
Johnny:And it's The Weft shooting the firmament and then going,
Johnny:why would the Ashen Pack do this?
Benny:it's a third Eric Andre
Benny:meme because have you
Benny:seen the one where he walks up
Benny:with makeup on and a wig
Johnny:So there's
Benny:that he puts on.
Benny:He walks up first, says hi to the guy,
Benny:then puts some makeup and a wig on,
Benny:and a cop walks up and says,
Benny:have you seen this guy?
Benny:And it says wanted,
Benny:and it's just a picture of Eric Andre.
Benny:And Eric Andre's looking at the dude like,
Benny:don't say a fucking word.
Benny:Don't say a...
Benny:That's the voice song.
Benny:Have you seen this echo fragment?
Benny:Like, uh-uh.
Benny:Don't...
Benny:Thank you Okay
Johnny:there
Johnny:okay
Johnny:Well, there's a possibility they're not Thessians though.
Johnny:They might be like the original higher kind.
Benny:also
Johnny:I mean, yeah.
Anzu:I think it's pinned or maybe I have it saved on my computer.
Johnny:Jake, we pulled that, the word.
Anzu:Oh, I have Thesians underscore 2025 saved on my computer.
Benny:where
Johnny:Drop the word salad.
Benny:does
Benny:where does harrow if at all
Benny:fit into this i don't think harrow fits into this
Benny:at all that's like the
Benny:eternity
Johnny:Yeah, one could be Basilisk.
Anzu:I mean, compulsion for the compelled is pretty on the nose.
Gamemaster:And I've seen enough.
Johnny:Could be...
Johnny:God, there's...
Benny:could be the both
Anzu:oh we're tearing Josh's lore
Benny:yeah
Gamemaster:I don't know what you're talking about.
Johnny:Oh, Eternity could be the Watcher or something.
Gamemaster:I don't know what you're talking about.
Anzu:apart Josh you're cooked
Anzu:you're done
Anzu:we got this cracked open wide
Benny:hag
Johnny:Or Effigy.
Johnny:So then, are these like...
Gamemaster:Did you see something, Mike, or were you just yelling?
Johnny:so maybe these
Benny:no there's there's a hag in here that's what cursed that one guy
Gamemaster:Okay.
Anzu:haha
Anzu:haha
Johnny:or these Thessians
Benny:Thank you wait recall is in here is that not the some in some form the watcher
Johnny:the first ones
Johnny:they build this whole thing and they standing guard or are they also what is it Thessian versus Thessian Who the sinister six Which is the more sinister of the six
Anzu:I mean, that could be the through line there.
Gamemaster:Okay Thank you
Anzu:It's possible.
Johnny:Hmm.
Anzu:Are you upset that there's one called tithe?
Benny:Oh.
Johnny:Esoteric as well.
Gamemaster:No.
Gamemaster:Kind of.
Gamemaster:The air of the plague has fire
Gamemaster:as part of its raiment.
Johnny:You think it's like yin-yang sort of thing somehow?
Benny:I think Oracle is the watcher.
Anzu:Now, here's the question.
Johnny:So is the Godhome literally just old Thessia?
Johnny:Is that why everyone was like, we gotta get...
Johnny:Is that why when we showed...
Johnny:Who before?
Anzu:and this may be an unpopular opinion
Johnny:We know for a fact that they don't because was it Uriel? Uriah? Uriel? He was just kind
Gamemaster:you're real
Anzu:but I'm not sure that 100% of the time
Anzu:Thessian equals bad
Anzu:oh yeah
Gamemaster:you're real
Gamemaster:that's a good callback
Anzu:you're real
Anzu:so
Johnny:of a sad dude by the end, but he's here somewhere. We know he's on planet or he was.
Johnny:It was the one where we blew up Raelion
Gamemaster:the very very first one shot you guys did or maybe it was the second one no it was the first one Yeah the one where you blew up Rayleigh You bumped into very briefly Uriel
Benny:Thank you he was on the boat
Johnny:So he's here somewhere.
Benny:unless he got blown up
Benny:in Rayleigh
Johnny:So how did...
Benny:unless
Johnny:That raises...
Johnny:That's a couple questions.
Johnny:That means either Thessians can get in
Johnny:or just smaller Thessians can get in.
Johnny:Which does that mean that Mr. Nobody we talked to is actually Herald?
Benny:It could be like
Anzu:We're just a high level acolyte.
Johnny:Or...
Johnny:Like what a car cop was by the end?
Benny:maybe an avatar of the Herald.
Benny:Herald?
Johnny:Yeah, we're like, that's crazy.
Benny:He just comes out.
Anzu:Anyway, Anzu doesn't know what any of this stuff means.
Anzu:At the end of the day, he's just a bird.
Johnny:Just a bird with a bird.
Anzu:And the vocalist is life.
Anzu:I must go to her.
Benny:True, Ken.
Johnny:Should we just be,
Benny:Yeah, that is good.
Anzu:Should we spray paint?
Gamemaster:that's pretty cool
Anzu:Iconoclasm was here.
Johnny:should our party names be Iconoclasm
Johnny:but with a Z?
Anzu:Ooh.
Johnny:Toss it out there.
Anzu:Are we sending text messages?
Johnny:We're just stunned by how good of an idea that is.
Benny:Oh wait. Generation one.
Benny:2
Johnny:One, two, three, four.
Anzu:another
Gamemaster:I just thought, given that you guys have had access to that for a while, I thought it would
Benny:3
Gamemaster:be easier if I just showed it to you in table form.
Benny:Oh my, oh no, it is
Johnny:Yeah.
Benny:it is all six. Compulsion,
Johnny:Yeah.
Johnny:Compulsion, paternity, judgment, recall, supremacy, either succession.
Benny:Eternity, Judgment,
Benny:Recall,
Benny:Supremacy, that's
Benny:five. What's the...
Anzu:It has to be succession.
Johnny:Who is Hunger though?
Johnny:Do we know where Hunger went?
Anzu:Could be hunger.
Johnny:So we know the deeps gone, we know leitmotif is the harrow.
Johnny:That means something happened with one of these other guys.
Johnny:I mean, it's possible language.
Anzu:The deep was such an idiot.
Anzu:The deep died to Big Jump.
Gamemaster:No.

Gamemaster:No.
Gamemaster:Don't do that.
Benny:so
Anzu:Thank you you Oh that me
Johnny:Maybe they're just the generation 1's
Johnny:And they're like we don't want the
Johnny:Fucking generation 2
Johnny:People coming out here
Johnny:Or some generation 3
Johnny:Because Giant
Johnny:Illithid that's horrifying that illithids
Johnny:Run around somewhere out there
Johnny:So we got I think some of these guys aren even I think we discovered that some of these
Benny:Pyro a Gen 2 Is there any other of the Sinister six that are a gen 2 was was harvest one of them
Johnny:guys aren't even in here, right?
Benny:giants here
Benny:yeah Pyre is a gen 3 sorry gen 2

Johnny:I think we know for a fact that one of them is newer.
Gamemaster:You know that Esoterica used to be called
Benny:Herald that's three
Johnny:Is it Esoterica, maybe?
Johnny:I think Esoterica...
Anzu:Oh.
Anzu:Yeah.
Gamemaster:grammary. You learned that from one of the other one-shots.
Johnny:Oh.
Anzu:Marie's on here.
Johnny:It's possible one of the other gen 4s.
Anzu:It's Gen 4.
Anzu:Gremery.
Anzu:Hmm.
Anzu:Well, I did learn a little bit more.
Benny:Not good, yeah. Definitely not good.
Johnny:Hmm.
Gamemaster:I don't know what you're talking about.
Johnny:Well, were we waiting on Storm in the other camp until Anzu would figure out how to strip
Benny:Yeah, why not?
Johnny:the song out of someone?
Benny:Oh, yeah.
Benny:How's that coming?
Benny:Did you see any...
Anzu:So, you know, I have a plan of what I kind of want to try and do.
Anzu:I don know if it going to work but It an ongoing oh
Gamemaster:if he wanted to get the first bit of it done
Gamemaster:like the first set of info,
Gamemaster:you thought it would take until the next tithe?
Anzu:that's true I do just need time
Anzu:to like finish stage one
Anzu:and
Gamemaster:You do, yeah.
Benny:Captive.
Johnny:Austin.
Gamemaster:well what level you are
Benny:Can't leave.
Johnny:TRW.
Johnny:Inmate.
Benny:Prisoner of War.
Gamemaster:I yeah I mean
Gamemaster:like I know what level you guys
Gamemaster:we're getting onto the Strider Un.
Gamemaster:And I know vaguely around the levels
Gamemaster:they expect you to go through
Gamemaster:while you're on the Strider.
Gamemaster:So all of the encounters of the things on here,
Gamemaster:I'm not going to say all of them.
Gamemaster:A lot of the encounters that are a bit open
Gamemaster:to what order you do them in
Gamemaster:all fall within a certain range.
Gamemaster:With the balancing of this encounter
Gamemaster:as time had gone on,
Gamemaster:there would have been things
Gamemaster:that would have increased the level difficulty.
Gamemaster:similar for the other stuff like as time goes on like things that you don't take care of will
Anzu:Look of just finished room.
Gamemaster:continue to grow on their own if you don't interact with them um not saying that you have to
Gamemaster:just saying that like you can't be like oh this is a level seven threat we'll wait until we're
Gamemaster:level nine and then get back to it um but you know stuff happens
Gamemaster:When you say fully clear Outsider you mean like remove the remaining Herald clan Yeah I mean you are like directly allowing the Machine God to expand its influence
Johnny:Yeah Yeah
Gamemaster:and take up the mantle of the old gods, sorry, the old hearts in the Strider
Gamemaster:and giving some of that to him.
Gamemaster:Okay.
Anzu:We gotta pick somebody, and I feel like he's better than the Harlequin, so...
Benny:Impy.
Benny:Also,
Benny:we also do know people
Benny:that are probably morally
Benny:quote-unquote good on the Strider.
Benny:They're just not as powerful.
Benny:Like, you think Solari Sub-surface is gonna be like,
Benny:we'll take on the
Benny:big machine god. Like, they're gonna
Benny:get squashed.
Benny:...
Anzu:Yeah, thanks for letting me go on that ride, folks.
Benny:Yeah.
Johnny:It was a crazy session.
Gamemaster:Yeah.
Gamemaster:I...
Benny:And you lived.
